Identify if a particular user is authenticated locally in Apps 11i/R12
Hi,
How to identify if a particular user is authenticated locally in Apps 11i/R12 or against OID?
I think FND_USER TABLE.
ThanksCorrect - if the USER_GUID in FND_USER is populated, then the user is authenticated via OID/SSO, else user is authenticated locally.

Putting Oracle Apps 11i on 10g RAC using VMware
Hello All,
I am building a Oracle Applications 11i on 10g RAC, using VMware..Since there aren't any docs I could find on internet explaining how to do this, I have come up with my own. I have combined the MEtalink doc:362135.1 and the docs describing building a 10gRAC "database" using VMware..I want to know if the below process is good enough to get the required results:
Steps:
-Install VMware on HOST m/c
-Configure 1st virtual m/c, say RAC1
-Install RHEL on RAC1
-Install 11i with 9i database on the local SCSI bus- SCSI 0:0
-Install VMware client tools
-Create a new ethernet adapter(for private interconnect) on RAC1
-Create shared disks on RAC1
-Partition the disks
-Add the disks as RAW devices in /etc/rawdevices
-Clone RAC1 to a new virtual m/c,say RAC2
-Delete the 11i apps directories from its local SCSI bus..since these would be redundant on RAC2
-Install Clusterware s/w on RAC1 using the same oraInventory that is used by the Applications 11i installation-
-Install the 10g DB software and create ASM instances using dbca
-Install Database componenets from 10g companion CD
-Upgrade CRS abd DB s/w to 10.2.0.4
-Upgrade the 9i database to 10g using dbua from the 10g ORACLE_HOME
-Convert the newly upgraded 10g databse to RAC using the rconfig tool
-Post migration steps for RAC
-Enable AutoConfig on the Applications Database tier
- Follow the "Establish Applications Environment for RAC" section from Doc:362135.1
-Configure PArallel Concurrent Processing(PCP)
Thanks,
Sandeep(Considering that there are only 2 nodes the scenario the steps would be as follows:
1. Install RAC using the steps provided at the link:
http://oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2RACInstallationOnCentos4UsingVMware.php
2.On RAC1 create a single instance of Oracle 11i (Both DB and Apps are on the same node)
3. Follow the steps outlined in the Note:362135.1
One thing to note is that the steps are the same whether the nodes are real or virtual. -
Install Apps 11i on exsisting DB
Can i install Oracle E-business suite applications/concurrent managers/forms & web component with an already exsisting Oracle DB running on a seperate node?
Yes you can, I did a test on Virtual machines, and installed on 10g. Look at the multinode concept, it will give you ideas for where to look.

AtanuHi Hussein :
[1] Would you pls. tell me what you mean by "need to source" - is it just running .env file ? Under $APPL_TOP I see the following .env files : APPSORA, APPSVIS_oel5, VIS_oel5 and VIS; none of them having permission to run. So I chmod, ran VIS_oel5 and find LD_ASSUME_KERNEL value null - as usual (I am on OEL 5.3).
[2] I tried using http://oel5.localdomain:8000/oa_servlets/AppsLogin using sysadmin/sysadmin and got the following out of many more :

I have installed Apps 11i in my PC.It was working fine so far. But now i am unable to connect to apps. When i enter the user name/password as operaions/welcome in the login screen, it says ' ORA-01422: exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows '.
Can U please anyone guid me what i should i do now to correct this probelm.
I understand, when i enter username/password, it is calling javascipt logon_submit() to diaplay the home page but it fails and displaying the above error. I checked the database in fnd_user table there is only one record for the user 'operations'. This is very urgent. So please help me to resolve this.
Note: I am getting this error only after i have started using apps 11i vision user instanceavailable in the internet http://vis11510.solutionbeacon.net/oa_servlets/AppsLogin). I use apps 11i both in my Pc and net.

Problems with installing applications 11i on redhat 8.0
Has anyone installed apps 11i on a redhat 8.0 box. With a lot of finagling I have managed to get the Rapid Install Wizard screen to appear but then ... nothing. It hangs with no indications of what is wrong. I do have DISPLAY set correctly. I have installed openmotif-2.1.30, but everything still hangs. There is no word on this site, technet, or metalink as to if this is even possible or if so how it can be done. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
SteveExactly the same problem in the same environment.
keep trying.
Please let me know if you find something. I'll do the same,:). -
i want to use VM for this can any one please suggest what is max best combination for me to test out the R12 on RAC environment.
Regards,
RajHi;
As Hussein Sawwan mention you have enough RAM but what about CPU? You may try to make installation but if you want to make some test on that VM you probably hit performance issue, its so clear

Install instructions for Search Modeler and integrating with Apps 11i
Below are all the steps I took for creating integrating Search Modeler with an Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 ATG RUP 7 instance called ERNIE.
Much thanks to Oracle Support ( Rajesh Ghosh, Vikas Soolapani and Roger Ford), as this simply wouldn't have been possible without them.
There are a few things in this document that may not be pertinent to your environment if you're doing this. I've made attempts to clarify those possibly optional sections in the documentation.
I've broken the document down into the following multiple parts
o Setting up a new RedHat 4.8 x86 server called ausSEARCHdev (The server is in AUStin, TX, is dedicated to SEARCH, and is for our DEV environment)
o SES (Secure Enterprise Search 10.1.8.2 install
o SES 10.1.8.4 patchset install
o SES CPU patch apply
o Standalone OC4J and ADF installation
o Search Modeler installation and configuration
o Configure ERNIE Apps instance to be on valid self-signed SSL certificate
o Import ERNIE SSL certificate into SES and Search Modeler
using aussearchdev initially

we're going to go with the standalone OC4j 10.1.3.3 and Oracle ADF 10.1.3.3 method
The URLs for these products are

ADF - http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/htdocs/adfinstaller10133.html
OC4J install
First you need to have Java 1.5 on the machine. Latest is 1.5.0_22. Package is in /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES
as root on aussearchdev
cd /usr/local
cp /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/jdk-1_5_0_22-linux-i586.bin .
chmod 700 jdk-1_5_0_22-linux-i586.bin
./jdk-1_5_0_22-linux-i586.bin
yes
install OC4J just by copying over the directory
as oracle on aussearchdev
mkdir -p /d01/oracle/oc4j
cd /d01/oracle/oc4j
cp -r /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/oc4j/* .
ADF install

change the following
OracleHome = /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf
DesHome = /d01/oracle/oc4j/
type = OC4J
as root
cd /usr/bin
rm java
(yes)
ln -s /usr/local/jdk1.5.0_22/bin/java
su - oracle
java -version should now return 1.5.0_22
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_22
cd /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf
java -jar runinstaller.jar -version
returns The version for the ADF libraries being installed is 10.1.3.41.57 - yes, that is apparently 10.1.3.3.
java -jar runinstaller.jar adfinstaller.properties
output looks good, do not be concerned by

So, creating a self signed SSL certificate for ERNIE EBS instance (this will not work if you use an SSL certificate for another server like say, PROD)
doing this on ausernieapp
openssl genrsa -des3 -out ausernieapp.key 1024
PEM key is ausernieapp
openssl req -new -key ausernieapp.key -out ausernieapp.csr
PEM key is ausernieapp
Country US
State Texas
Locality Austin
Organization Name Corporation
Organizational Unit Name Information Technology
Common Name ausernieapp.domainname.com
Email address [email protected]
No challenge password
No optional company name
Now let's remove the passphrase from the key
cp ausernieapp.key ausernieapp.key.orig
openssl rsa -in ausernieapp.key.orig -out ausernieapp.key
Now let's generate a self-signed certificate
openssl x509 -req -days 1000 -in ausernieapp.csr -signkey ausernieapp.key -out ausernieapp.crt
Install the private key and certificate
cd $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/ssl.crt

chown applmgr:applmgr server.key.backup.03102010
bounce apache as applmgr
cd /d01/oracle/erniecomn/admin/scripts/ERNIE_ausernieapp

./searchctl startallBelow are all the steps I took for creating integrating Search Modeler with an Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 ATG RUP 7 instance called ERNIE.
I've broken the document down into the following multiple parts
o Setting up a new RedHat 4.8 x86 server called ausSEARCHdev (The server is in AUStin, TX, is dedicated to SEARCH, and is for our DEV environment)
o SES (Secure Enterprise Search 10.1.8.2 install
o SES 10.1.8.4 patchset install
o SES CPU patch apply
o Standalone OC4J and ADF installation
o Search Modeler installation and configuration
o Configure ERNIE Apps instance to be on valid self-signed SSL certificate
o Import ERNIE SSL certificate into SES and Search Modeler
using aussearchdev initially
rh4 x86, default oracle build

ADF - http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/htdocs/adfinstaller10133.html
OC4J install
First you need to have Java 1.5 on the machine. Latest is 1.5.0_22. Package is in /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES
as root on aussearchdev
cd /usr/local
cp /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/jdk-1_5_0_22-linux-i586.bin .

install OC4J just by copying over the directory
as oracle on aussearchdev
mkdir -p /d01/oracle/oc4j
cd /d01/oracle/oc4j
cp -r /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/oc4j/* .
ADF install

change the following
OracleHome = /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf
DesHome = /d01/oracle/oc4j/
type = OC4J
as root
cd /usr/bin
rm java
(yes)
ln -s /usr/local/jdk1.5.0_22/bin/java
su - oracle
java -version should now return 1.5.0_22
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_22
cd /mnt/oraclebackup/deathstar_patches/SES/adf
java -jar runinstaller.jar -version
returns The version for the ADF libraries being installed is 10.1.3.41.57 - yes, that is apparently 10.1.3.3.
java -jar runinstaller.jar adfinstaller.properties
output looks good, do not be concerned by

kill -9 the modeler oc4j process, then
cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
./searchctl startall
enter the password when prompted
in IE browser go to

So, creating a self signed SSL certificate for ERNIE EBS instance (this will not work if you use an SSL certificate for another server like say, PROD)
doing this on ausernieapp
openssl genrsa -des3 -out ausernieapp.key 1024
PEM key is ausernieapp
openssl req -new -key ausernieapp.key -out ausernieapp.csr
PEM key is ausernieapp
Country US
State Texas
Locality Austin
Organization Name Corporation
Organizational Unit Name Information Technology
Common Name ausernieapp.domainname.com
Email address [email protected]
No challenge password
No optional company name
Now let's remove the passphrase from the key
cp ausernieapp.key ausernieapp.key.orig
openssl rsa -in ausernieapp.key.orig -out ausernieapp.key
Now let's generate a self-signed certificate
openssl x509 -req -days 1000 -in ausernieapp.csr -signkey ausernieapp.key -out ausernieapp.crt
Install the private key and certificate
cd $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/ssl.crt

For troubleshooting, if you go to end of /d01/oracle/10.1.8/sesdev/search/data/config/crawler.dat
you can modify the logLevel from the default of 4 to 2 to get better debug data. No services need to be restarted, it will become active with the next crawl.
While talking with Oracle, they mentioned the following patches
The patches identified 8321527 and 7586924 are SES patches to help with indexing

How to install the EUL5 Business Area and seeded reports for Ora Apps 11i
Hi All,
We have to install the EUL5 Business Area and seeded reports for Ora Apps 11i.
I think there are scripts which need to be executed to create the BA and the Disco seeded reports. I am kind of confused about the whole think. Any pointers as to where to look foe the scripts would be really appreciated.
I am using disco version 10.1.2.48.18.
Thanks.Hi,
You need to work though Metalink Note 313418.1.

Hi Friends...
Please give me Some examples below one's.
In oracle apps R12 and 11i major differense is MOAC(Multi org access control)... means Single Responsiblity we can access Multiple Organizations in R12, But in 11i we dont have feature...
But I am not getting the point, about single responsibilty to access multiple organizations......
Please , If any one guide with real example... Its help me a lot...
and any major differnces in Apps 11i and R12 ...
Thanx a lot my friends....Hi Dodydh,
I am afraid, your statement 'At r.12, Oracle has a new modul, i.e. Oracle Payment, which was subdomain of Oracle Payable.' is not correct.
Oracle Payments is an upgrade version of Oracle iPayments of 11i and this module is expected to serve Self service modules. But Payment Batches which is part of Oracle Payables has been moved to Oracle Payments.
You can very well ask them to implement Payment Batches (Processes relating to Funds Disbursement) but not the entire module.
Please let me know if you require further info.

Sridhar -
