Installing Arabic version of Indesign

hello.
i have tried installing the ME version of indesign. went through the whole process described here.
http://www.typophile.com/node/94478
but in the end the Arabic version did not install as there was an error.
now, when i return the the application manager, it informs me that i am up to date
and therefore can not go through the process again.
need to do a layout in Arabic and would love to work with the formatting available in
the indesign version specific to this language.
any help would be appreciated.
p.

Hi Steve.
yes, i am using the Creative Cloud CS6. i already had the US version installed. i am currently doing layouts in Arabic and wanted to use the formatting tools available in the ME version.
i went to Preferences in the Application Manager, chose English with the Arabic next to it.
downloaded and then tried to instal but it said that it was not able to install. i then trashed it and went to try to download again but now it says i am up to date...
so that is where i am.
any ideas would be appreciated.
best,

  • I can't install two versions of indesign together !!!

    Hello Folks.
    How are you?
I installed Indesign CS4 but when I installed Indesign CS6, both versions are expired !!!. What is the problem?
    I use Windows 7 64 bit .
    Cheers.

Did you enter the serial numbers when you installed? Did you deactivate the old installations first?
I think this error message is telling you that the program is not activated, possibly because there are already two other active activations. Try Help > Activate... and either it will be successful, or you will get some dialog telling you why it isn't. If it isn't there should be a phone number included that you can call. If it is successful and you continue to get this error, then we'll need to dig deeper.

  • Using Indesign CC (2014) 10.1.0.71 (swedish version) ARABIC in indesign. Download Plug-in or whole program "Arabic version"? Link?

A client wants me to work on a text which is both english and arabic.
I heard this is only possible with the arabic version of indesign?
If I place the text in my present version, it comes out unreadable (arabic letters/words -but not connected and jibberish my client cannot read)
I heard I have to install something, is it a plugin or a whole program?
i am panicing since I have very short time left, I will get to work next to an arabic speaking person tomorrow who will guide me - But I want to prepare the isntallation first!
    Where do I start?
Will installing the program affect my regular version of indesign?
    Thankful for links!
(I subscribe monthly to CC, maybe it is included? )

ME version means Middle East Version, it is the general term for all RTL versions. Until CS6 it was sold as separate version. Since CC it is included without any additional cost starting fro CS6 up to the latest version which is now CC 2014.
Follow these steps as I have written before:

You have installed Swedish InDesign, it is ok, leave it, don't uninstall it.
    Open the Creative Cloud Application.
Opent the preferences and in the Apps change the language to English with Arabic support.
    Install InDesign
Now are additional plugins installed which add new functionality to your Swedish version.
You can switch back to your language in the CC app.
This works with any other language system the very same. Each install will add plug ins to extends the functionality.
InDesign chooses the same language as your OS.

  • Installing two language versions of InDesign CC

    Hi,
I'm working on a project that requires Japanese and English in the same document. As the English version of InDesign does not have the same level of typographical support for Asian charactors as the CJK versions, I want to know if I can install two versions of InDesign - Japanese and English - with my Creative Cloud subscription. Any help with this would be much appreciated.
    Steve

    Hi TokyoSteve,
You can have Japanese and English version of InDesign on your machine at the same time and there is no need to uninstall any of the version. It is dependent on the OS language, which InDesign will be launched.
Ex:- You have InDesign Installed in English language on your computer.
Open CC desktop app, change the language to Japanese in the Preferences options
Install InDesign again (it will be in Japanese language)
When you will launch InDesign, it will be in English as you have the OS language set to English. If you change the OS language to Japanese then InDesign (Japanese) will launch.
    Check this :- http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-creative-cloud/installing-multiple-languages-of-a-desktop- application/
Changing the OS langauge may not be the best workaround/Solution to create the multilingual document however it is to state that you can have InDesign or any CC app in multilanguages on your computer.

  • Arabic Problem in Indesign CS5 ME ???

    Hi,
I am planning to publish a book about coins written in arabic. That's why I have to use latin and arabic letters in the same page.
I just installed trial version of Indesign (7) CS5-ME.
I creat a text box with "ME Type Tool"  and choose either Adobe Arabic or Traditional Arabic font. But the letters do not connect as it should be.
    Any suggestion ?

I don't have CS5 ME, but there are a few possibilities that could cause this:
    1) Make sure that both Ligatures and OpenType -> Contextual Alternates are on. Neither one should have an affect, but I have a vague recollection that Contextual Alternates have to be on for the Trad Arabic font to work.
    2) As Jongware points out, make sure that it's declared as Arabic - check the paragraph style too.
    3) Oh jeez, I know that there are more possibilities, but I'd need to be looking at CS5 ME to tell for certain.
Note that you can't embed Trad Arabic in a PDF - it violates the font licensing. (Unless you got it from a source that was not Microsoft?)

  • Have Creative Cloud - Cannot get off the trial versions of InDesign and Photoshop

    Windows 8
64-bit operating system, x64-bit based processor
Downloaded and installed trial version of InDesign CS6 (three days left on trial)
Purchased Creative Cloud two days ago
Downloaded and installed Photoshop CS6 (loads as a trial version)
When clicking on Registration number, get error message “not connected to Internet”
Live chat instructed to uninstall both InDesign and Photoshop and download again.
    Cancelled Cloud
Next day phone rep spent ½ hour trying to get it to work. Said it would all work and helped me re-purchase Cloud – received email confirmation.
Phone rep passed me on to someone who was supposed to give me a registration number. Spent another ½ hour doing the exact same thing. Was told there are no registration numbers in Cloud. Wanted to pass me off to another support department – I declined.
    Received email today:
“Your Creative Cloud membership will be transitioned to a Free membership at the end of the next billing period. This means you will lose access to many of the apps and services included with a Paid Creative Cloud membership.
In addition, since Free membership offers only 2GB of storage, you may need to remove files to get your cloud storage down to 2GB (or to purchase additional storage separately if you choose). If you leave more than 2GB of files on Creative Cloud for more than 90 days, you may lose access to some or all of your files. If you decide you want to return to a Paid membership, update your payment information and desired plan on the account management page.
If you need help or have any questions, contact Customer Support.
    Thanks and enjoy,
    The Adobe Creative Cloud Team”

Hello, I am doing a layout in arabic language, and I am missing option of change direction in paragraph. I read on forum that I am supposed to download some kind of an plug in or version of indesign for arabic language support, but I just don't know what to download.
Can you tell me step by step what to do and download.
    Thank you very much!

InDesign is from a technical viewpoint a Plugin Activator.
    Every function is a plugin.
With CC and higher you can change the language in the CC app preferences.
When you change the language, additonal plugins, necessary for that language are installed, with the MENA (Middle East North Africa) versions RTL functionality is added into your primary version.
InDesign chooses to start the program in the same language as you OS is set up, RTL functionality appears translated into your normal User Interface.
After installing a MENA version you can switch back to your main language.

  • Installing on top of a Trial version of InDesign?

I had patience problems with the TABS on CS3 and Adobe told me that as CS4 was out they didn't support CS3 anymore.
Against my nature I opened a Trial Version of InDesign 4. Tabs are just as fluffy but what the hell I ordered the full set CS4.
This took longer to arrive than the 30 day Trial. Yesterday I received and installed it all but my serial number wasn't accepted as valid.
I had the chance to open a new 30 trial so did that thinking I would then have time to contact the supplier and get him to sort it out.
Today I went on-line and InDesign disappeared. From the installing disk as well!
    Any ideas please?

    Thanks Peter,
I ran the Clean up but in the mean time managed to get hold of a nice sounding Irish girl in Adobe UK HQ who told me that the Serial Number I had been given was a CS3 number so my problem seems to be with my supplier, who was helping me yesterday, Sunday, from home. I'm now waiting for him to get me the correct number - then I can uncross my fingers and my legs!
Thanks to you and Buko for your advice.
    Hopefully - spitting 3 times in the Devil's eye - I'm solved!

Cloud programs do not use serial numbers... you log in to your paid Cloud account to download & install & activate... you MAY need to log out of the Cloud and restart your computer and log back in to the Cloud for things to work

  • Help! Error messages while installing the trial version of Indesign.

I got about 100 error messages that I needed to "contact my vendor to get a compatible version of (some such).InDesignPlugin" when installing the trial version of inDesign CC. There were literally dozens, one right after the other. Not sure what I need to do.

Nevermind, I just made inDesign force quit, then restarted it and it worked.

  • When installing CS3 Design Premium it instals Version Cue server and shared components, but I get the message "Errors: 6 component (s)" and dose not install, Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Indesign or Creative Suite Premium

When installing CS3 Design Premium it instals Version Cue server and shared components, but I get the message "Errors: 6 component (s)" and dose not install, Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Indesign or Creative Suite Premium

Thank you Bturko in the future only migrate/copy/transfer your documents and settings.  Adobe applications especially are not designed to be transferred from one computer to another.  It is possible to recover however.  I would recommend the following steps:
Run the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
Run the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
If you need to download a fresh copy of the installation files they can be downloaded at Download CS3 products.
Run the installer and reinstall Creative Suite 3.

  • I want to install Japanese version of Photoshop and Indesign.

I want to install Japanese version of Photoshop and Indesign.
    ButI have installed English version.
Is this a reason that I can't install?

Launch the Adobe Application Manager and click on your name in the top left to the context menu. From the menu choose Preferences and switch the Language field to Japanese.
You will need to uninstall the English version before installing the Japanese version. Uninstall on Windows from the Control Panel and on Mac OS X by using the links in the folder Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers.

  • What should I do to install the English version of InDesign CC?

What should I do to install the English version of InDesign CC and other CC apps?
Even choosing English language for the app's language in the preferences of Creative Cloud, the installation comes in Portuguese.
I'm in Portugal but I would prefer have the apps in English.
    Thanks.
    Vitor Pedro

The problem has been solved. It was necessary to first uninstall the apps. My initial struggle was that many of the Adobe apps were missing in Control Panel. For example, InDesign was not there. So I had to delete the files of apps directly on Disk C. But now, I think everything is fine.

  • I am trying to install a trial version of InDesign.

I am trying to install a trial version of InDesign.  It tells me I can't complete the installation until I close Bridge.exe.  I installed a trial version of Photoshop yesterday but then found out that what I really need is InDesign.  How do I close Bridge.exe?

You can close it in your task manager.  You should be able to locate it under the processes tab.
