Installing art when "Album Art Not Modifiable"

I was recently trying to drag and drop album artwork into the iTunes photo receptacle in the lower left hand corner and noticed that it read "Album Art Not Modifiable". Does that mean I can't paste anything there? There's no art at all currently, even when I ask iTunes to find the album art for that CD. If anyone knows of a way to override this, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Is that really true?
'Cause being new to this, I've only just added a few albums as .wav and succesfully downloaded album art, using the functionality within Itunes. And this should not have been possible? For instance Loretta Lynn "Van Lear Rose", Emmylou Harris "Stumble into grace" and Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach "Painted from Memory" all worked just fine. But Itunes was not able to download album art for all my albums - Simply Red "Greatest Hits" from 1996 was one that did not work. So I browsed the internet and was able to find jpegs of this album art, which I know have stored locally. But how do I get that into Itunes?

  • Updating Album Art, when iTunes says "Album Artwork Not Modifiable"

How can I go about updating or adding album art when the Artwork area at the lower left corner of iTunes says, "Album Artwork Not Modifiable"? Every effort to add the artwork from iTunes has failed. When I paste the album photo from another site, it doesn't save.

I figured this out. I found that the folder and files only had "read" privileges and not "read & write" privileges. I did the following:
    1. In finder I right clicked the parent folder for iTunes and selected "Get Info".
    2. Selected my user and changed the rights to "read & write".
    3. This step is the most important. With my user still selected in blue, you click on the options "cog wheel" below the users, at the bottom. Select, "Apply to the enclosed items". It may ask you again if you are sure, say "yes". By doing this you will apply your users "read & write" privileges to all folders and files underneath your iTunes folder.
This worked for me and I wish you the best!

  • Album Artwork not modifiable - why?

I'm having problems with my Podcast (channel) album art. It's a 300 x 300 jpeg, 72 dpi, but iTunes is telling me that its not modifiable. I've tried different file names - still doesn't work. Is there a colour depth limit? If so what is it? And is there a nice easy way to convert it using PSP7?
You can find that image here http://members.lycos.co.uk/squirrelbater/Logo2.jpg
Any help greatly appreciated. Probably get a shout out too!
iPod Nano 2GB (Black) Windows XP 1000GHZ, 384MB

The option is not available; it says the Album Artwork Not Modifiable. Why not?!
The files are read-only or non-writable for some reason. Album Artwork is added to the files themselves, and if they're read only, iTunes can't add the artwork.
The reason it works after you convert the file is because the new copy of the file is not marked read-only.

  • Album artwork not modifiable problems

I can get album art from lots of places, the problem is I tunes will not let me put in. keeps coming up with album artwork not modifiable I'm not trying to modify anything. I just want to put some album art in. Is there a way around this ?? I tunes is pretty good most of the time, but sometimes it makes a person want to just go sit in a corner and eat dirt..........

Ah, okay. Well, if you are trying to get artwork by using that handy "Get Album Artwork" feature of iTunes, it is likely that you aren't going to get some art because the iTunes database doesn't have every album under the sun.
So here is what you do: 1) Run a Google image search, or something similar, and find the artwork online. (If you own the album physically, you can always scan the artwork into your computer yourself if you have a scanner.)
    2) Save the artwork to your hard drive (make sure it's a jpg or other common format).
    3) Open iTunes, and select all the songs in an album that you wish to add the artwork to (should be highlighted in blue), right- or ctrl-click on the selection, and select "Get Info." You will probably get a "Do you want to do this?" window, so hit "okay."
    4) You should see a section in the lower-right corner of the new window that says "Album Art" or similar. Double-click on that empty space, and navigate to the file you just saved on your hard drive.
    5) Select the art, hit all of the okay buttons you need to, and let iTunes process it.
    Voilà, you have album art.

  • "album artwork not modifiable"

after upgrading to version 7 it seems that the albums in my library have randomly been designated as "album artwork not modifiable" , making it impossible for me to even manually add the artwork.
    any help appreciated.

For some reason, iTunes 7.0 is converting songs to QuickTime Movie files when it imports music into your song library. I'm not sure how to fix THAT, as it may be a bug with iTunes itself.
Instead of reverting to 6, try converting the file to something other than a QuickTime file (control + click or right-click and select "convert selection to xxx"). Once the file is converted to a format other than a QT movie, you should be able to save album artwork on that new file. Just delete the original (apple + i for the information screen to confirm that you are deleting the right file).
I just tried it myself, and it looks like this should work until Apple fixes iTunes 7. I've never seen iTunes import files as a QuickTime movie. I assume this is only a problem for MP3 files, because I tried importing an AAC file and it worked just fine.
    Hope this helps!

I've seen this problem with certain MP3 files. However, this is now happening with some other songs that are AAC format. Can someone help me?

  • Can I restore my system from install discs when DVD is not working?

Can I restore my system from install discs when DVD is not working?
There is a disc jammed in the drive and when I try to do an install in Target Firewire mode using a G5 Tower I get an error saying the software cannot be installed on this machine, before I can even select the iMac's drive. I'm using the grey software install discs that came with the iMac.
Is my only option to open up the iMac and get the jammed disc out?
    Thanks

Problem solved - I posted on the general Tiger Discussions as well.

  • Album Art - some albums will not allow art to be added manually - help?

I've searched the archive for an answer to this, but haven't found a solution.
I'm importing many of my CD's into iTunes, some of which I have to add the album art manually. For the most part this works just fine, as I go to "Info," and drag the art into the art window.
But here's the problem - there are some albums that just WILL NOT display the art. I drag the art to the window, and it appears there, but does not "stick." When you play another song, then go back to the previous, the artwork is gone again.
I've tried adding the art in every way I know how: drag to the window that says "drag artwork here" in the main window; going to "get info" then "artwork" and dragging the art into that window; and also clicking the "add" button and navigating to the stored art file...the result is always the same - the art doesn't stick. This is only for some albums; the majority work just fine.
I've cleared the album art cache, with no change, and have also set the ID3 tag to "none" for the problematic albums (based on a suggestion in another posting). Both of these had no effect on the results - the art still won't stick.
    I'm at wit's end - anyone have a suggestion??

Manual syncing seems a very inefficient method to use - it my experience its much easier to associate one or more playlists with your iDevice and then automatically sync to that.  Doing it this way allows you to set up what you want to sync without the iDevice being connected, and also allows you to manage what gets synced completely, since you can remove albums from the playlist so that they're automatically deleted from your iDevice next time you sync.

  • Adding scanned art for Album Art

I followed the itunes help on this topic and checked out some of the previous threads about album art with no real solutions to my problem:
I am using iTunes 7 and my brother just recorded an indie album which I added to my iTunes library. I then scanned the CD cover and made two copies:
a .psd file of 250x249 pixels
a .jpg file of 250x249 pixels
The iTunes Help says to command-click each item in the album, choose "Get Info" and then drag and drop the art into the little artwork box in the window. That kind of works. The file appears in the little window, but when I close the "Get Info" window on those items, the album art is not there. I also tried Browsing to the file with the same results. I tried both the JPG and the PSD file.
I also tried dragging the file from my desktop onto a single file and that won't "stick" at all. If I have a single song selected and try to drag the file from the desktop to the album art viewer, it won't go at all. It just "bounces" back to its spot on the desktop.
Is there a certain file type or size? I am the administrator of the computer. I tried things like ejecting the CD before dropping the art work on and I tried changing the iTunes view from the new "album art carousel" look to the standard iTunes view.
    What could be wrong? Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
There really is no standard file size, however, "less is plenty" applies. Jpeg is sufficient, and since it's basically for screen resolution on either the monitor or iPod, then the file sizes you mention are more than sufficient.
Odd, the artwork is not sticking. I usually copy/paste into the Artwork panel for a single selection. Multiple selections are similar to what you tried - drag/drop to the artwork panel, which automatically checks the box to the left of the panel. Upon selecting OK, iTunes updates the album or multiple selections (usually taking 20 seconds or so).
Might try moving the com.apple.iTunes.plist file in your User Library>Preferences folder to the desktop and restarting iTunes. You may have a corrupted preference file. On the restart, iTunes creates a new preference file. See if the artwork functionality is restored. If not, return the file to its original location. If the artwork placement does work, then you'll need to restore any custom iTunes preferences.
    Post back with results.

  • Modifying 0VTC and 0VRF trasnactions when client is not modifiable

    hi
we are uploading  0VTV and 0VRF transactions using a BDC logic. in development the change asks for a transport request. now when we moved into production the client settings in SCC4 are "client not modifiable" so we were not able to update the transactions.
how do i make my logic work without changing the SCC4 settings. i read about "current setting" in SPRO--> Define Routes and Stages->maint objects.  i have done this setting for both 0VTC and 0vrf. just make sure that this will solve our problem  we have made the development system SCC4 settings same as prod system ( client not modifiable). but still i am getting the client modifiable error.  is there any other setting i need to do or any thing wrong with the way i did the "current setting" setting. please let me know.
    thanks

    Hi,
I have a client who has a requirement to use these transactions as master data in production too.
Could you please share the OSS Note/s that can achieve this?
    Cheers,

  • Adobe Application manager says I have already installed programs when that is not true

    Hi there,
I have a CS6 subscription, and whenever I try to download and set up an application, it says that the program is already installed on two computers. Which is not true as I am going for the first install of that program.
I just spent an hour waiting for InDesign CS6 to download and install, and now I cannot start using it as it says it is already on two computers. AIt would be good to get the warning saying the program is already set up on two computers BEFORE I wait an hour for the program to download and install.
Online chat is not available and the phone number on the website is for the USA. I am in Australia.
How can I get help to solve this problem? I have NOT installed InDesign CS6 before, so how can the Application Manager think I have already installed it twice?
What is wrong with the application manager or my subscription? I am paying monthly to get access to CS6 programs and I am just getting error messages after a long wait.
    Very frustrating.

Sam if you are receiving the message that the software has already been activated on two other computers then please choose the deactivate all option.  You can then activate on your computer and then reactivate or activate on another computer.

  • Album Artwork Not Modifiable, or any other info....

It seems like randomly my iTunes decides that it won't let me change ANY of the info on the song. I've looked at other questions, and I've tried to uncheck the Read Only box under the Properties for Internet Explorer, and I've tried to convert the ID3 tags, but it won't let me click on that option. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, but that only helped for a short period of time (half an hour). Please help me because I'm crazy when it comes to organizing my iTunes and this is driving me nuts. Thank you in advance.

hi Steve, I have an 80gb Classic but it shouldn't make a difference. this should work for MP3 files:
    1. try deleting the artwork for the songs by selecting the songs; right-click and get info; click the checkbox just of the left of the artwork box and press OK. This will get rid of any artwork that might already be associated or embedded in the file.
    2. find the artwork on the internet, and (in windows) right-click the artwork and select Copy, don't download and save the file it's not necessary.
    3. toggle back to iTunes and right-click in the image box in the lower left and select Paste. This will paste the image into all the selected songs from step 1.
P.S. this site is a pretty good source for artwork http://rateyourmusic.com/

  • Message: Album Artwork Not Modifiable

I can no longer add artwork to the albums I import, and I am not sure why this is happenening. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Make sure they the files are not read only, and if you change the source directory while the file is loaded, no changes will be made because itunes does not display an error message "path not found".

    Hi all
I'm new to the board and very confused about something...I've tried uploading the new edition of flashplayer and while it says the upload was successful, it's not showing up when I check my programs. Help.  Thanks.

    Hi and AMEN!
I'd love to know who's in charge at IE, if anyone!  These people should get together.....Internet Explorer and Adobe and come up with some common plan where one group knows what the other is doing and how best to help computer users without confusing us all to death!
Bravo for trying.  Have you made any headway?  If so, let me know. If not...best of luck. I am tempted, some days, delete my current site and start from scratch. See what happens.  Worst case scenario; neither side in power (I.E. or Adobe) really knows what they're doing and basically has us jumping back and forth.  If they do, I wish they'd share that info.

  • Album art not matching correctly between iTunes and iPhone.

So as much as this might not seem as an issue for some, I notice that my album artwork in iTunes does not always match up with the album art on my phone. If I think that some artwork for a song or album is unappealing or not matching, I will change it to my own artwork. Normally, this has never been an issue for me until recently. What happens is I do the normal album art changing procedure (go to get info, add/delete album art) and it works fine. The odd thing is that when I go to select an album on my phone, the album art is the same as what it was in the iTunes Store and not what I added, but the individual songs have the album art that I added myself.
I've managed to fix this issue on some albums by converting them mp3 format, but that only works for some and I don't know why. I would prefer the song art and album art be the same, just because I'm really nitpicky about things matching. Am I missing a step or doing something wrong? Does anyone else happen to have this issue, or any clue what the problem might be? Help would be much appreciated, thanks!

What you are trying to do is clear but iTunes Match / IOS 6 does not work that way.
You can sync playlists from computer to iDevice using the options under the music tab for your iDevice on the computer.  This will provide a local copy on the iDevice of each Song included in each Playlist selected for sync.
With iTunes Match / IOS 6, as Songs are played from the iCloud (ie not those already downloaded in playlists) IOS 6 does in fact 'download' the Song to a local cache.  In theory this cache should be managed by IOS 6 such that it does not overload your iDevice memory - Apple have not chosen to share exactly how this operates.
Given your notes above would suggest starting from a refresh restore on the iPhone 5 with all synchronisation performed afresh and iTunes Match switched on.
