Installing Audigy Drivers on XP pro via group polic

Hi
We have a suite of machines in our music dept which run XP Pro and which contain Sound Blaster Audigy Cards. Our normall practice is to create an msi package from a machine which works, then use that to push drivers/software whatever out to the other machines. I can create an msi for the SD Audigy drivers and software ok, but when I try to install that on an machine via a GPO the drivers will not install.
Has anybody else had this problem and solved it's Becuase otherwise I'll have to install the sound drivers manually. If I do this then I have to install all the music apps the same way as they will all require the drivers to install. I'd rather not do this: we have 7 now, but when we have 30 ........
andy

Have you asked in groups which are focused on system administration of XP, too? I think that's more likely to be fruitful than here (you should ask here as well, because someone else could indeed have direct experience with the Audigy case).

  • Installing Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Card into Dell Inspiron

    Hey,
I have tried to install my old Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Card into my new Dell Inspiron 530, from my old PC. Although, the power cables have different pins (the PC has a smaller input). Also, where the SPDIF cable etc. goes into the DVD dri've, there are no available slots. What can I do? Sorry if there isn't enough information, I'm really confused.
Do?newer recording soundcards, such as the elite pro etc. have different cables for newer PC's?

Are you referring to the floppy power connector? If so, you do not need to plug that in unless you are using external peripherals. Also what do you mean by no available slots? Is the SPDIF connector from the DVD dri've plugged into the motherboard? If so then you can unplug it from there and plug it into the sound card instead since you will be using the sound card to output sound now rather than the onboard sound. Perhaps you could show us some pictures of what you are talking about.

  • Upgrading Java 6 Update 3 to Update 5 via group policies fails.

I need help with this please.
I originally installed Java 6 Update 3 via group policy without a hitch. Now it's time to updgrade to the latest version ( Java 6 Update 5 ) via group policy. I instructed the policy to remove J6U3 and install J6U5.
    Here's what happens....
The policy successfully removes U3 and then installs U5. Upon checking add/remove programs I can see U3 is indeed no longer in the list and U5 is listed.
When I start the IE7 and go to the Verify Java page, I look at the managed add-ons and can see that "Sun Java Console" is pointing to npjpi160_05.dll ( should be ssv.dll ) and that the "Java Plug-in 1.6.0_03" ( should be Java Plug-in 1.6.0_05 ) is pointing to the ssv.dll in the old folder ( C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\ ), which is no longer there..
I can manually edit HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93}\InprocServer32 to stop pointing at C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\ssv.dll and point to C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\ssv.dll thus java starts working as expected. Of course, "Sun Java Console" stiil shows pointing to npjpi160_05.dll.
If I manually uninstall U3 and then manually install U5 from the same share that the policy uses, everything works as expected. "Sun Java Console" points to ssv.dll in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\ and "Java Plug-in 1.6.0_05" is pointing to ssv.dll.
I then tested the same thing scenario, this time use a MST transforms file which has the IEXPLORER=1 set. This did not resolve the issue.
In short, I've discovered that if I uninstall U3 without upgrading to U5, the {8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93} key gets deleted. If I try to perfom and uninstall followed immediately by an install of U5 the {8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93} key doesn't get deleted and still points to the U3 info.
I don't want to manually edit the registry as we'd always have to remember to update the script when we update the software so that it matches the correct version of Java.

I have a similar post on this subject goto "gordon freeman" java 1.6.0_06 will not run in Vista.
On my system there is a workaround if you open control panel/user accounts, then turn user account control on or off, untick user acccount control and restart the machine then goto website www.javatester.com to test if appelets run! I leave user account control on until I have to goto java website and then disable visit site and then renable this requires 2 restarts everytime I visit a java site. The problem is some sort of permissions issue created by either corruption of the registry by remnants of previous versions or configurations of previous versions it goint ot take me years to work it out. None of the turkeys at Sun have got any idea how to fix this I now am working with Microsoft in an effort to have this problem fixed!

  • Installing D530 drivers on mac pro OS X 10.8.2

I have tried repeatedly to get my mac pro to recognize the scan gear and MF printer drivers & utilities and have not ben successful.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Dellzcanon.
Since you are experiencing issues with both scanning and printing, it indicates that there may be a communication issue between the printer and the computer.  Here are a few items to check:
Verify that the printer is on and that the USB cable is plugged firmly into the back of the printer.
If there are any devices, such as a USB hub, connected between the printer and the computer, please remove the printer and connect it directly to the computer.
Click on the Apple icon in the upper-left corner of your screen and select [About This Mac] > [More Info] > [System Report] > [USB].  Verify that the printer is listed in the USB devices.  If it is not, please move the USB cable to a different port on the computer.  If it still doesn't appear, change the USB cable.
If you are still experiencing the same issue, after performing the steps above, we recommend that you contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).

  • I am trying to install Corel Draw x5 on windows xp pro via Parallels 7 and having an issue . it states about 99% through the install that it is missing a file any suggestions?

I am trying to install Corel Draw x5 on my new iMAC. I am trying to install it on windows XP Pro via Parallels 7. I have already installed some other programs without any issues so this has me puzzled. whenever the install reaches about 99% complete it says it can not find 2 files(sorry I cant recall what it was).

The error message I get is that iTunes is trying to incorrectly open Visual C services.
Is there somebody at Apple who actually read these things or are we on our own without any iTunes?

  • Managing a site desktops with group policies

    Hi,
I get the impression that the Azure Active Directory services does not allow one to manage desktops via group policies, is that correct?

    GF

    Hi George,
This is correct Microsoft Azure Active Directory is NOT Active Directory Domain Services and so there the functionality such as group policies etc. has nothing to do with AAD.
If this is something that you would be of use to you, then your more than welcome to feedback such information the PG via the following methods:http://feedback.azure.com/forums/169401-azure-active-directory

  • How do I install sound drivers on the PC side of my MacBook pro

My son used bootcamp to create a PC side of our MacBook Pro. However, now there is no sound. I asked about it on a previous post, and was told to install the drivers from the installation discs. However, neither of us knows how to access the discs from the PC side. I could use some step-by-step instructions.
AND, another issue: I tried to download a massive (3.2GB) program (for a school course) and was unable to do so on the PC side because of corruption (SLLLOOOOWWW download speed). So I downloaded it on my eMac and transferred it to the PC side of the PowerBook via flash drive. I was able to install it, no problem (or so I believe), but then I couldn't open the program. The only desktop icon was the Install package (.dmg). I went in to the 'programs' section (of the PC) and tried to select it there, but again there was no icon to open it. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Fred J.

    Hi again Bob,
When I went to that link about Bootcamp, it didn't tell me how to do the thing I really need to do. I can boot up into windows (hold down alt. key while restarting, right). But how do I ask Windows to find the right drivers? As you can see, I'm clueless on this. I need a step-by-step set of directions. Do you know of any post that has them? And if I have to "manually go to the device site", I assume that that means that the drivers don't exist on the Mac install disks. What device site would I go to?
About the PC program, I may not have been clear enough. The program I downloaded was not in Mac format. I didn't try to open it or run it on the Mac. I just spoke to the people who make the program and they say that, yes, it is possible to do what I did; the problem has to do with serial #'s of some sort. I'll let you know how it turns out.
    TIA
    Fred J.

I have Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and yesterday installed a 32 bit Windows XP professional again on my PC. I installed all my drivers and finally got to the Sound Card. I have serious problems with the drivers that are on the CD; if I only install the drivers from there, every time I click on EAX my computer restarts. This was a problem that I had since I bought this hardware 3 years ago. Last time (which was couple of month ago) I found an updated driver in creative website and everything worked fine until I re-installed my windows but I can't find that driver anymore.

FAudigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP3! Specs
    Asus a8n-sli
    GB RAM
    6600 GT
    Audigy 4
    LC Power 550 W PSU
I put in the installation CD that comes with the card. I want to install everything (full install), and mid-install I get a blue screen.
I then uninstalled everything and tried only to install the updated drivers from the website in safe-mode and still a blue screen. Should I get the dump file and send it to Creative?
How do get this card to work like it should? I also have a remote control that came together with the card.
Im currently using the onboard AC97 Realtek ALC850 soundcard.
Whats the whole procedure to make this work? Detailed please. How do I eliminate all traces of the audigy on my PC?

Re: Audigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP38 Perhaps you'd want to read this old thread of mine about my misadventures with the same exact card you are trying to use. IMHO that card was not worth the time and money I spent on it (even even less the time and money it caused me to spend afterwards to repair the damage it caused.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install a 64-bit Windows 7 or Vista version in your Mac. Make sure you downloaded these drivers > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630 Also, if you have the Snow Leopard DVD you used to upgrade your Mac or the OS X DVD that came with your Mac, you can use it to install the Boot Camp drivers

Please help me how to install mac drivers for windows7 64 bit???

You either download drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant and save to USB FAT disk, or you insert and use 10.6.x OS X DVD when in Windows and install and run the SETUP from there.

Step 4: Install the Boot Camp Drivers for Windows
After installing Windows, install Mac-specific drivers and other software for Windows using your Mac OS X installation disc.  The Mac OS X disc installs drivers to support Mac components, including AirPort,built-in iSight camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and thefunction keys on an Apple keyboard.
The Mac OS X disc also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows and theApple Boot Camp system tray item.
To install the Boot Camp drivers:
1 Eject the Windows installation disc.
2 Insert the Mac OS X disc.  If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
    3 Follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input.
If nothing appears to be happening, there may be a hidden window that you mustrespond to. Check the taskbar and look behind open windows.
Important: Do not click the Cancel button in any of the installer dialogs.
4 After your computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New Hardware  Wizard to update your software drivers (Windows XP only).
5 Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.
6 Check for updated Boot Camp drivers by using Apple Software Update or going to www.apple.com/support/bootcamp.
If You Have Problems Installing the Device Drivers
If it appears that the Boot Camp drivers weren’t successfully installed, try repairing them.
    To repair Boot Camp drivers:
1 Start up your computer in Windows.
2 Insert your Mac OS X installation disc.
3 If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
4 Click Repair and follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
If you need to reinstall specific drivers, you can install one driver at a time. For example,if your built-in iSight camera isn’t working, you can reinstall just the iSight driver.
Individual drivers are in the Drivers folder on the Mac OS X installation disc.

  • I installed bootcamp 4.0 4033, installed window 32 bit but can't install the drivers for some reason i keep getting error message. i have a macbook pro mid 2011 version. Please help

I installed bootcamp 4.0 4033 so that I can install windows 7 32 bit on my mac.  Everything works fine until I try to install the drivers and I get an error message stating the version of windows does not work with the drivers I am trying to install.  I have a feeling somehow I am downloading 64 bit drivers when I need 32 bit.  I spoke to Apple and they said I can't use 32 bit windows.. but that is not what the support site says (it says I can as long as I use bootcamp 4, not 5).  Also, my bootcamp assistant is version 5.. I have no idea if that matters.  Help please.. been searching online for hours.

What model/year is your Macbook Pro? What operating system version?

  • Do I need to install the drivers on my old Mac Pro disc or from my Snow Leopard disc?

    Hi,
    I've got a 2008 Mac Pro (dual quad @ 3GHz) w/ 24GB RAM and I've got Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installed. What do I need to install?
On my newer 2009 iMac (which included Mac OS X 10.6) I just inserted that disc specific to the iMac and installed the drivers, but the disc for my Mac Pro is old (10.5.2) do I need to install the drivers on it or not? Can I just insert my Snow Leopard 10.6 disc to install Boot Camp etc., or won't that include drivers for the Mac Pro? The Mac Pro is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply,
I have both the silver discs specific to my iMac and Mac Pro models that you receive with your Mac, and a general copy of Snow Leopard that you buy from the store.
I used the silver disc that is specific for my iMac to install the drivers, and Boot Camp 3.0 on my iMac. But with the Mac Pro, the software is older and only has Boot Camp 2.0, thus I'm wondering if I can simply use the software on the general copy of Snow Leopard I own, or does the silver disc contain specific drivers for my Mac Pro that I need?
I'm under perhaps the wrong impression that the silver discs that you get with your Mac purchase contain drivers for your specific Mac model which you can't get from the general Snow Leopard disc.
    Thanks.
