'Installing' Automator Actions downloaded from Apple

I have downloaded several Automator Actions from apple.com. The first one I installed was Lock Desktop which I installed by opening the disk image which created the 836 KB file 'Lock Desktop.app' on my Desktop.
I believe that the .app extension indicates that this is an application. I don't really want an application installed to my desktop, even though it works from there.
I tried importing this into Automator which it would not do. So should I install this to the applications folder, to System/Library/Automator, or somewhere else?

Well I haven't heard anything so I moved it into the Applications folder, and it is still working.

How to clean install OS Lion, downloaded from Apple App Store???

I upgraded the OS on new 13" MBP i-5 online via Apple Store.
Need to do a clean install of OS since my MBP takes 112 seconds to boot, and i found out that the only remedy is to clean install the OS.
Install file is gone from the Applications folder.
Please advise. On App Store shows that the OS Lion is instaled (true).

You can redownload the Lion installer by holding "alt" while clicking on the small "purchased" symbol in the window frame of the AppStore. The "installed" button should then turn into "install". You can then either extract the InstallESD.dmg image from the installer and clone it to a 8 GB USB stick via Disk Utility (there are zillions of tutorials for this on the web, just google for "Lion USB boot stick") or simply copy the whole installer.app to another bootable OS X SL or Lion volume and run it from there.
The other way is to boot the Mac from it's recovery HD by holding cmd+R at boot, then selecting Disk Utility to reformat your HDD and then downloading and installing Lion from there.

Solution
Deleting the cached video files of the download, and starting the download again from the beginning, often will resolve this issue.
To find the cached video downloads:
Navigate to the downloads folder on your system. This folder can be found in the following locations:
Mac:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Downloads
Note: The tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
Windows Vista:
\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Downloads\
Windows XP and 2000:
\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Downloads\
Locate the folder that contains the cached video file for this purchase.
In Windows Vista, the folder will be named for the purchased video, and the name will end with .tmp.
Example: The Dundies.tmp
In Windows XP and Windows 2000, the folder will be named for the purchased video, and the name will end with .m4v.tmp.
Example: The Dundies.m4v.tmp
Move the .tmp folder for the affected purchased video to the Trash or Recycle Bin.
Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Check for Purchases.
Enter your account name and password and click the Check button.

Found a note explaining the significance of these errors.
It says:
"NZE-28862: SSL connection failed
Cause: This error occurred because the peer closed the connection.
Action: Enable Oracle Net tracing on both sides and examine the trace output. Contact Oracle Customer support with the trace output."

How do you do a clean install of Lion downloaded from the App store. I downloaded and it installed but never was there a time of the installation it gave me an option to do a clean install. Thanks for any help.

Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

so far i have:
1. updated my software
2. updated to battery 1.2
3. took off the "duck" plug and used the macbook pro cord that was provided
4. checked and cleaned the pins on the magsafe
5. checked and cleaned the magsafe port

The printer software for HP Deskjet all in one F4488 downloaded from Apple support for OS 10.8.2 does not work. The problem is that the software is not available at the HP support site only.

Your apparently older Model needs to use Apple's "Print & Scan" which is found in Applications>System Prefernces>Print & Scan. There you will follow the following instructions from the HP Support site to Scan, for instance:
Place the item that you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load it into the automatic document feeder (ADF) if your printer has one.
Click the Apple menu ( ), and then click System Preferences .
Click Print & Scan ( ).
Click your printer in the left pane.
Click Scan , and then click Open Scanner .
Click Show Details . The details of the scan display, including options to change scan settings.Figure 4: Example of the Show Details scanning screen
Change any scan settings as necessary, and then click Scan .NOTE: Make sure to select either the Flatbed mode or the Document Feeder mode, depending on your printer and how you plan to scan.

To try and stop it happening again you can use Settings > General > Restrictions on the device to prevent in-app purchases being made, and you might (depending upon its iOS version) also have a 'Require Password' option on the Restrictions screen that you can set to 'Immediately' so that your account's password has to be entered for each download from the store.

Mac App Store Upgrade advantages vs Download from Apple Web ?

Since latest OSX versions the upgrades are checked in App Store and the download of the upgrade follows in App Store.
I have checked with latest OS upgrade (10.8.1 and 10.8.2) and also now with Aperture 3.4.1 that the download time inside App Store is twice longer compared with a direct download from Apple. More interesting is that the download gives me a file that I can use to upgrade not only my iMac but also my Mac Book Pro.
The upgrade notification in App Store reached my Mac while the related file is not to befound in the italian Apple site but if I change to us I immediately find the file.

Yes, OS X updates from the Apple Downloads page will work. If your version of Aperture is from the MAS, the update from the MAS should not be able to update it, that is for the previously sold boxed software.
