Installing BOXIR3.1 on RHEL 5.1

And it is struck at a point where it is starting to register the binaries. I canceled the install thrice, once at 18%/42%, second at 21%/42% and third at 23%/42%, everytime after the install window was struck there for at least an hour.
My fourth time install is stuck at 18%/42% again since 40 minutes.
I am trying to install R3.1 on RHEL 5.1 OS.
here is the error code
linux_optimized/regsvr32" -c -nodisplay -v -s "/home/boss/boss/bbje/enterprise120/linux_x86/ras/ /libdateadefmode.so"
[error] [Registry::SelfReg] Failed to register librequestmodel.so (regsvr32), error code: 1
at every step one or another library file is error'ing out.
Any Idea?

I know I cannot even run the install while logged in as root. I have created another user to run the install.
I believe a 64 bit is capable of boarding a 32 bit application, but I am not sure if 32 bit libs are separate from 64 bit libs.
I am still stuck at the same place again...neither does it crashes the install at that point nor it moves up.
However if I go to the install directory it appears like I have all BOBJE files there, however I cannot run any ccm scripts.
Any more suggestions?

• Installing Oracle 11g R2 on RHEL 5.9 server

Hi,
I've been trying to install Oracle 11g R2 on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9 server but have not succeeded thus far. The server meets all the software and hardware requirements for Oracle 11g Release 2 and when it also has all the prerequisite packages/ RPM's on it, when checked manually. I have set up the various kernel, semaphore and local port range parameters in accordance with the Oracle guides for installing Oracle on RHEL 5. I also followed the online guides to create the "oracle" user and set up the groups (oinstall, dba, oper and asm).
However, when I run the installer, it shows "Failed" for all the prerequisite checks. I tried to ignore this and install Oracle but it failed at 37% and gave multiple errors, related to invoking target 'XYZ' of different files including makefile and gcc.
I suspect that either the installer is unable to detect these packages as they already exist on our server or it is something to do around permissions to the groups. I read on these forums that it might be because of a "cvu" folder created inside /tmp that requires '777' permission but am not sure if that's what's causing our installation to fail.
Please let me know how to proceed with the installation and guide me through this.
Thanks.

Hi, its Oracle 11g R2 - 2.0.3.6 .
The O.S is Linux x86_64
server: RHEL 5.9 (Takinga) with kernel: 2.6.18
I've been working on this all day today and have managed to overcome the errors regarding the missing/ failed packages. I've also verified that my kernel parameters are correct; I had missed the kernel shmmni parameter yesterday.
The installer now detects all the packages & runs till 86% when it gives the error: "error invoking target client_sharedlib of makefile".
Kindly let me know how to proceed. Thanks in advance !

• How to install RHEL AS3 on PVS without XF86???

I am trying to install JES05Q4 on RHEL AS3 that is a hosted private virtual server (PVS) at my ISP.

Please help anyone?????
I have not yet modified the jes install script (can I do this?) ...
....but I have configured XF86 using stubs for the kernel-drm rpm that is the source of conflicts with the VPS kernel ...
... yet I abandoned XF86 since have no device (/dev/tty0) and have configured and used vnc over ssh -X tunnel instead. I can successfully create windows from virtual X-server session but still fail to install JES with or without -nodisplay option. I still get the same error in all cases
[root@rupture Linux_x86]# ./installer -nodisplay
Attach to native process failed
or from VNC session that successfully creates new xterm windows fine (without -nodisplay)
[root@rupture Linux_x86]# ./installer
Attach to native process failed
So this failure to attach to native process maybe an unrelated problem to x-windows. Can anyone explain why may not be able install jes from vnc session?
So my ISP's PVS server has:
1) stubbed kernel that I have had to stub around to get XF86 installed and vnc working.
2) no tty0 device
3) what else? - causing attach failure.
To get XF86 installed despite my restricted PVS, I installed a stub for kernel-drm from ximian that does not offer proper X-windows behavior, but it was simple way to get XF86 dependencies out the way. My question is no longer why I cannot do JES install without XF86, but why cannot I do an install from vnc virtual X server session that is otherwise working, whether using -nodisplay option or not?
I used the following stub for kernel-drm
[kenw@rupture kenw]$ rpm -qa | grep ximian
kernel-drm-stub-4.1.0-0.ximian.1
I was then able to install XF86.

Any advice welcome? Is it time to abandon this ISP and private virtual server? Most ISPs do not claim RHEL AS3 support... so I guess I am going to unsupported Fedora IV kernels anyway.
Has anyone successfully deployed JES to an ISP's private virtual server? Is there any solaris container's out there yet?

hi folks,
i am a trainee DBA and company needs me to install this Oracle XE Version in one of the RHEL 5 servers.
well, i have installed Oracle 10g EE in RHEL using a response file once and have installed EE in Windows Machines a number of times. since i had installed EE once in RHEL5, i am very much familiar with this article. http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2InstallationOnRHEL5.php
but, this is the first time i'm gonna install Oracle XE in RHEL5. so i need ur expertise help on this :). here are my questions. please tolerate if they are silly. ;)
1. is it the same as installing EE in RHEL ? in other words, do i need to follow all the steps in the http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2InstallationOnRHEL5.php article as i did for EE ?
If No,
2. Do i need to create an Oracle User ? the Oracle XE installation Guide says i need not to. but say if i need an Oracle user with oinstall group and stuff, as whom to run the rpm ? and how to set the env. vars ?
3. any additional rpms needed ? documentry says glibc – 2.3.2 and libaio – 0.3.96. are those the only 2 ?
4. any memory params to be set ?
5. what additional advice can be given to me ?
thanks a lot in advance folks..

• Installing Oracle 9.2 RAC on RHEL 3

Hi,
I'm trying to install Oracle 9.2 RAC on RHEL 3 (kernel 2.6.4) with NFS as shared stored device.
I follow W.Puschitz instructions (installing 9i on RHEL AS 3 and installing Oracle 9i RAC on RHEL AS 2.1).
Problem :
cluster manager oracm only starts on one RAC node. If I start oracm on a second RAC node, it crashes.
Please, help.

I am not sure if NFS works perfectly with RAC as a Shared storage. Give it a shot by using FireWire shared storage using OCFS or Raw files.
I had success with OCFS using FireWire shared storage.
Thanks

Hello Fabio,
I recommend to post this query to the [BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration|BI Platform; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to administration and configuration of BusinessObjects Enterprise, BusinessObjects Edge, and Crystal Reports Server.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.

• ColdFusion 11 on RHEL, All Files in cfusion/bin are NOT executable.

Installed CF11 on RHEL and all the files in cfusion/bin are set to rw instead of rwx. I've tried both an upgrade install from CF9 and a fresh, clean install after removing CF9. No change. I've also tried both the prod an prod-secure profiles. How do I get around this? I see nothing related to this in documentation for the Linux installer.

RESOLVED: The CF installer writes a shell script into /tmp and tries to execute at the end of the install. For us, due to server lockdown for PCI DSS, we set the noexec or umask on certain file systems, so the shell script never executed. Remounted /tmp with execute permission until the installation and setup was done. Also had to update the cf_home directory group and user owner as it was mixed between root and the provided runtime user.

• New Operating System - Same BOXIR3.1 system (file store & repository)

We have a memory limitation on our current BO server running BOXIR3.1 fixpack 1.7. The server is currently running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with 4 gig of memory. We need to add additional memory but are limited by our operating system. I understand we'll need to re-install the OS with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition so we can add another 8 gig of memory.
We'll do a full server backup prior to reinstalling the I'm not clear on how to re-install BOXIR3.1 service pack 1.7 and the file stores. I'm thinking I'll need to re-install BOXIR3.1 then the service pack. But then I'm not sure what to do. Some of the questions I can think of are:
1. How do I re-install BO software without creating a new Oracle repository?
2. How do I restore my file stores? And how do I make BO use these file stores?
3. How do I point to my existing Oracle repository?
4. Is there anything else I will need to do to restore my current BO system?
I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Hello,
First of all take a Back up of CMS repository and Input and Output File repositories.
1. How do I re-install BO software without creating a new Oracle repository?
Install BO with new repository (mysql or Oracle). After installation completes you can re direct to your old repository using from CCM -- > SIA -> Configuration tab
2. How do I restore my file stores? And how do I make BO use these file stores?
Just copy all the files from back up, input and output repository files.
3. How do I point to my existing Oracle repository?
CCM -- > SIA -> Configuration tab
4. Is there anything else I will need to do to restore my current BO system?
copy tnsnames.ora file, input and output repository.
If you get any issues when enabling servers or starting the CMS, then you need to delete old server entries from your CMS repositoies. Search with TYPE ID = 19, you will get all server entries in your oracle repository.
Thanks,
Anil

• How to start installing CRM, ERP and SOLUTION MANAGER on a VM

Dear all,
It has been some years now that I installed a CRM and ERP system (this was in the days of dual stack ). Now I see that dual stack is depricated and that everything runs on a Netweaver base.
My question is now the following;
Can someone please tell me how to proceed to install these 3 SAP components on 1 server, each on its own virtual machine?
I suspect that I will first have to install the OS (RHEL 5.6 64 bit) and then I will have to install the DB (Oracle 11.2i). After this I start the installation of the SAP component or is there someting I need to do to get the Netweaver part on the server first?
And where can I find EXACTLY which files I need to download from the SAP site for each component, because the CRM part for instance has a ton of files and there is nowhere an indication that says '"this is the normal installation package".
Kind regards,
David

not quite right.
You start sapinst, it will proceed a number of sections and then request you to install the database. Do not install the database before. This is also convered in the respective installation guide.

This depends on how you use the CRM system, whether you use componnets, that require Java or not.
All that is covered in the installation and master guides. Yes, they are big and yes, they contain a lot of redundant information. But don't expect to start a program and do next-next-finish.
I would start with Solution Manager becaues you will need that system to generate installation keys for the other systems.

Hello,
We did go further into the installation process, but we still got this same old error at the end (after more than 6 hours!!!)... :((
Checking the processes status at the end of this installation, we can see the oc4j_soa server and HTTP server are Stop and Down which is not good:
