Installing CC (with LR5 and PS CC 2014) on replacement computers

I have a monthly "Photography" subscription to CC (for Lightroom and Photoshop CC). I had these installed on my old PC and on a laptop. The Laptop died ( I will be buying a new one soon, but probably a MacBook Pro, rather than the previous Windows laptop) and I have also replaced my old PC with a higher spec machine (also a Windows PC). How can I get CC onto my new machines and hence download LR and Photoshop CC onto these new machines. Needing help urgently as I need to edit a bunch of photos for a presentation. Thanks, Ray.

Many problems and questions with CC and PS CC 2014. HELP!!!

I'm having way too many problems with this whole Creative Cloud system, and PS CC 2014 in particular.
The courtesy of a response from a qualified Adobe staff member would be greatly appreciated by this long-time loyal patron of Adobe products.
1. When and why was my membership downgraded from Single App to Photographer?
     I signed up to Single App CC almost a year ago, and am able to access Typekit, 20GB of cloud storage and all the other features of Individual App membership, but not Market Assets. When I attempt to download any CC Market Assets I get a message stating "Market Assets are a premium feature" and "is only available to paid Creative Cloud members".
      I must still be subscribed to Single App because the subscription payment receipt I received a few weeks ago states: "We received payment for your Creative Cloud single-app membership for Photoshop (one-year) subscription, and your membership will renew on 30-July-2014 (PT)".
     The CC website states that Market Assets are not included in the Individual "Photography" subscription level (which seems to be a relatively new category), but I am clearly paying for Single App membership as indicated on my receipt. However, when I check my account, I'm listed as a Photographer subscriber.
     What gives?
2. Lightroom 5 is no longer listed as "Installed" in CC Apps window.
     I installed Lightroom 5 at Adobe's invitation last fall. Every time there is a CC update, the CC App widow shows that Lightroom 5 is not installed. So, I reinstall it, and the App list behaves properly until the next "update", which de-installs the app again.
     How do I keep Lightroom 5 installed?
3. My Extensions are not accessible in PS CC 2014
     I migrated my presets from PS CC to PS CC 2014, but the Extensions are still greyed out (Windows>Extensions). I updated Extension Manager and synced the desktop CC app, which downloaded some plug-ins to CC 2014, but not the Adobe Watermark extension (v2.2.3). Also, because Window>Extension is greyed out, I can't access AdobeExchange via CC 2014 to download any possible updates.
     Why can't I access my extensions in PS CC 2004?
4. CC Files wont stop syncing
     I thought I'd try uploading something to Creative Cloud to see what this storage feature could offer me. CC has been attempting to sync my files for aver a day now, chewing up bandwidth and seriously slowing down my internet connection to other content-dense sites. How do I stop the syncing process? I can pause it, but not stop it. I only have one file (a jpg image) in my Creative Cloud Files, which has a green check mark, so I don't understand what is being synced and why. I toogle syncing off and on again, but all I get is the spinning wheel. I've now turned off syncing, so this feature is now of no use to me.
     What am I doing wrong?
5. How do I make the previous version of PS CC the default PS app in Mac OS 10.8.5
     How do I deactivate PS CC 2014 as the default PS app?
     My workflow regularly includes the Oil Paint filter and Adobe Watermark extension to produce the images I am currently marketing. Therefore, I prefer to use PS CC v14.2.1, and not PS CC 2004, as my default PS app. Mac OS10.8.5 want to open all my RAW and PSD files in PS CC 2014. I change the "Open With" preference in the "Get Info" window to PS CC 14.2.1, but it immediately reverts to PS CC 2014.
I have several other issues with the latest CC platform, but lets see if I can get these ones solved before moving forward.
This whole Creative Cloud process is becoming very frustrating and overly time consuming, and seems to be much more complex than most users need or want (based on the comments and problems I read in this forum). I like the ongoing bug-fixes and camera/lens support updates, but the whole multi-app, internet-dependent format has gotten out of control, producing more problems than solutions, at least for me. This 2014 update makes it impossible to follow the workflow I've developed over the past several years. PixelBender is complex and non-intuitive, and does not effectively replace the Oil Paint filter. My extensions don't work. And now, the CC app won't let me access all the features I think I'm paying for. It seem to me these recent "upgrades" are half-baked. I've now spent countless hours trying to fix the problems imposed by CC 2014.
These "Community Discussions" sometimes take days to produce any sort of assistance, helpful or otherwise, and Adobe does not have the decency to offer direct access to customer service personnel to solve these problems.

I too, have many of the same problems: constantly reminded to "Install" the apps I have already done so (and paid for); Market Assets asks for me to become a paid member (I am); Adobe Bridge is missing from the apps page. I have reinstalled CC several times. Frustrating is the kindest word I can say--I seem to spend more time reading the "help" and discussion boards rather than working on photos. Dear Adobe, wake up and give us some solutions here! I too, have been using Adobe PS for years and UGH! CC is a mess and truly a bad experience for me! I apologize to the user above (RGMeyer) I could not be helpful, rather I am only adding fuel to your frustration.

Best practice with LR5 and film scanners

Currently I'm trying out an OpticFilm 8200i Ai, but I'm looking for any suggestions on any scanner.
I'm primarily scanning old 35mm B&W negatives, color negatives and positives for archival and print. I'm primarily Mac-based using the latest OS10.9 iteration.
I was looking at the Lightroom product manager last week and could have bothered him then, but I didn't think to ask.
As it is, most discussions aroe over a year and a half old so it would be good to have an update. Most workflows include using some archane scanner software solution. I'm thinking that the most elegant solution is using Lightroom Capture.
What do you think?

Even if Lightroom were to scanner support, it is unlikely that it would be at the level of Silverfast, which has spent years becoming one of the best. Let Silverfast handle the very specialized task of driving the scanner hardware, and let Lightroom handle the post-scan image processing.

Install problems with CC and LR5 CC

The CC install has Photoshop CC listed and is install it but I don't see LR CC. How do I install the CC version of LR5?
I'm on a 6 core MacPro tower running OS 10.9 and the full orig versions of PS6 and LR5 are already installed.

The current version of Lightroom available is Lightroom 5.2. This is the version currently included with the Photoshop and Lightroom membership. If you already have an exisiting license for Lightroom then you can continue to utilize your previous installation. If you wish to remove your perpetual license and begin to utilize the license for Photoshop Lightroom included with your membership then you will need to remove and reinstall the software. Installed OS X Yosemite, and Illustrator CC 2014 will not print

Just Installed OS X Yosemite, Mac Powerbook. and now Illustrator CC 2014 will not print to my HP Laser jet Pro 400, But Acrobat, Photoshop do. Any advise, I even Uninstallled and reinstalled the HP Drivers.

Did you also uninstall, run the cleaner tool and reinstall all your Adobe apps. In recent versions of the Mac software (10.7 and up) migration will not work reliably with the Adobe Suite.

Solaris Express Zone install error with SUNWiiimr and SUNWcnetr

This problem seems some strange - this time with Solaris 10u4, from 10 containers installed on a brand new X2200 (2x cpu) only one do not output those errors, but just this one cannot install the dsee or proxy. This time the errors were from:
Installation of <SUNWxwplr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWdtdmr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWmconr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWrmwbr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWlvmr> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
Installation of <SUNWzebrar> on zone <dsee-proxy> partially failed.
So the machine was, too, just installed. After several hours, anoter atempt to install a zone, this time just this one, returned no errors - and the dsee installed without any complains. All configurations were for whole root zones. Used was Solaris 10u4 with the most recent patch cluster applied.

Clean install Mavericks with Mail and Apps?

What is the most efficient method to do a full clean install of Mavericks (once it is released) and then migrate Apple Mail, Applications and Dropbox from my existing Mountain Lion setup on my late 2009 27" iMac?

You probably won't need to do that. As with all previous versions of the MacOS, you will be able to simply install Mavericks over the top of the older OS. All of your applications, folders, documents, internet connection data, stored passwords, cookies, etc. will be left exactly as they were before. Mavericks itself will update any existing system files that need to be updated.
However (as is always advisable with any update of the OS) before attempting to install Mavericks you should first make a complete bootable clone (not a Time Machine backup) of your existing hard drive, to an external drive, and test the clone by booting from it.
That way after you've installed Mavericks, if anything bad happens, you still have a safety net.
Only at that point, if you really want to spend hours doing a completely clean install of Mavericks, re-installing all your applications etc., you can do so by wiping your internal hard drive and then installing from scratch - though I'm wondering why you would want to do that .
You will still have all your stuff on your bootable clone.
If things are really bad and you just hate Mavericks, you can simply start up using the clone and clone the whole external drive back to your internal hard drive - taking you back to exactly where you were before.

Installing coldfusion with jrun4 and Apache2

basically I want all my cold fusion files (like cfide and my
websites) to be in the apache 2 htdocs folder (/opt/apache2/htdocs)
I am using Solaris 10 (Sparc edition)
I am unable to find any documentation on how to do this. the
one good documentation I found places the htdocs somewhere that I
do not want to use.
Can anyone point me into the correct area?
I have already installed cold fusion and created the WAR
file.

Assume a website name Test1 that is on Apache2 and you want to run it with CF 10 standard and a website name Test2 that is present in IIS which you also want to run with this CF 10 standard.
So yes, it is possible. Every website that you configure individually with IIS has a unique folder name (say 1, 2, 3 and so on.)
You need to run the Web Server Configuration Tool (wsconfig.exe) and add the IIS website/Websites one by one that you want to add. Every website will run with it's connector files present in the number folder 1,2,3 and so on (C:\ColdFusion10\config\wsconfig)

USB2.0 Install Troubles With WinXP and KT3 Ultra2?

I installed WinXP (Fresh) on my system with the KT3 Ultra2 board in it. I had ACPI (Plug and Play OS Installed) turned OFF in the bios, and I have all 6 USB ports enabled in bios (legacy support off).
Upon installing WinXP and the SP1 full update (~130mb file I believe), I check the device manager to see what was up so far. I had several yellow exclamation marks, but two of the three were expected (onboard audio and my video card had no drivers yet). But the third one threw me... Under "Other devices" I had "USB Host Controller" listed....
So I installed the Via 4in1's version 4.43 using the "quick install" option. Check device manager, same result. Mr. Steveo suggested I try right clicking the controller in the device manager and choosing to "update driver". I did, and it automatically updated the driver and placed it in the USB section of the device manager (with the other USB entries).
The problem is, the device name seems weird: "Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" instead of something like "USB2.0 PCI to USB Host Controller" or something like that. The yellow exclamation mark is gone, but I just dont know if this is the correct device setup or not.
Can any of you other Ultra2 owners tell me if this is what you have in your USB controller list, and if not, how did you install WinXP to get to the point where you had the "correct" listing? Maybe it makes a difference whether ACPI is turned on during install or something?
I tried to run the Via USB2.0 driver file (7011Kb) from the MSI site to see if it would help, but it quits the install and says that the SP1 update drivers are newer and should not be updated with this driver.
Any suggestions or comments are very much appreciated.

Hi, yours is 845E MAX2 motherboard, you should use Intel USB2.0 drivers .

And don't use "search for new hardware", instead you manually point the drivers location to where you extracted the downloaded file. Sometimes WinXP drivers search is "blind" 8)

Installing Problems with VS2003 and VS2005

I have both Versions of VS (2003 and 2005) on my PC. The automtic Installation always finds VS 2003. How can I install the ODT for VS 2005 too.

I am working with Lr5 and trying to send my photos to PsCC via camera raw.

Trying to move photos from Lr 5 to PsCC via camera raw. It is going directly into PsCC and by passing the camera raw plug in. What can I do to include that camera raw step?
In Lr5 thumbnail, >right click > edit in Ps and then it goes into Ps by passing the camera raw step. Suggestions?

Lightroom and ACR are equivalent. They both contain and work off the same raw conversion engine - one as a standalone application, the other as a Photoshop plugin.
When you "Edit In" from Lightroom the file is actually processed by ACR, but "silently" and bypassing the interface. What happens is that Lightroom just passes its settings to ACR - you've already made your adjustments there, there's no need to bring them up a second time in ACR.
This is as long as the two are in version sync. If not, ACR can't read all the settings from Lr, so it switches to another mode. In that case the file is fully processed by Lightroom, which then sends a rendered TIFF or PSD to Photoshop. That's a little less flexible and means you can't use some of the options you have in the "sync" mode, like smart objects, open as layers, or HDR. But otherwise the result is identical.

I installed java with plugins and still can't open documents with .jar. Do I have to direct it to C:\Acer\ProgramFiles\ and how do I change?

I have been trying to open a .jar file on a new Acer laptop. I installed the JAVA, however, when I try to open the .jar files it only brings me back to install Java. The computer is an Acer and the program files are located at C:\Acer\ProgramFiles instead of C:\program files. Do I need to change the web browser somehow to read at C:\Acer\ProgramFiles\?

The .jar files that Firefox uses for a theme are not Java files, but are ZIP archives that store the theme files.<br />
You can use "File > Open File" or drag the .jar file in the "Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes" window to install the theme.

Installing package with -U and Ignoring Signatures

If I want to install a package using -U but the package isn't signed, can I tell pacman to SigLevel = Never for this one transaction, rather than having to edit pacman.conf, install, then change pacman.conf back?

I need a report that will show the number of installs of all of the workstations applications and packages over a given period of time.
This will let us know how effective our deployments are and how well the on-demand software is being adopted.

Your Install Source might be an option as most SCCM deployments will install from C:\Windows\ccmcache\xx [where xx is a random folder name]. Most software vendors will put an install source in the registry, but not all do, so it won't be completely accurate.
When software is installed manually, the install source path won't be C:\Windows\ccmcache\xx.

I'd like to know why when you ask Siri what July 27th, 2014 is we are get the response "opening the gates of hades". Can someone from Apple please explain this. I don't find it amusing, and I think Apple needs to be held accountable for it, and owes us an explanation.
