Installing CE 7.1 SP3 on Vista

I'm trying to install CE 7.1 SP3 on my laptop with Vista and I get an error message at the beginning of the install saying 'the subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler does not exist on the 'localhost' host' which of course the registry key does exist.  Has anyone tried to hack through a Vista installation of CE.
I know Vista is not supported in the PAM, and I have installed CE into a XP virtual machine running on my Vista laptop but I was just wondering if anyone else out ther has managed to get it to install on Vista.  I have 3gb memory on my laptop and VMWAre plus the XP virtual machine are using up 600mb of memory that I could use for CE if I could get it to run native on Vista. - thanks

Hi,
There is two flavors of CE, server and developer workplace.
You can easily install a developer workplace on XP with maxDB.
You can also install the developer workplace on WS 2003 with SqlServer, the pre-requisite analysis message is not blocking and you can continue your installation. Your CE will work perfectly well.
The last possibility is to install the Server version of CE on WS 2003. You will not have the pre-requisite analysis message.
Regards, Gilles.

  • Issue installing M10 Valet software on a Vista laptop

    Fujitsu Lifebook A series
    Vista
Intel Core 2 Duo at 2ghz
Tring to use the easy install key to connect an old laptop to our M10.
Can it run on Vista?  If not, is there a download that will work on Vista.
I have tried to use it, but it "works" forever and then stops.
    Any help is appreciated.

The Cisco Connect Software should run fine in a windows vista computer provided that the computer meets the system requirements for the software to install. Here are the system requirements in installing cisco connect:
    Internet browser
Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) or higher
    Safari® 4 or higher
    Firefox 3 or higher
    Chrome
    Computer
    Windows XP SP3
    Windows Vista SP1 and above
    Windows 7
    Windows 8
    Mac OS X®
          OS X Tiger
          OS X Leopard
          OS X Snow Leopard
          OS X Lion
Source: Cisco Connect Frequently Asked Questions
Try to double check your system specs if it meets the requirements for the software to be installed. For windows vista, it should be SP1 and above. If the software from the easy setup key won’t work even after checking the computer specs, try downloading the cisco connect setup software for PC from this link: http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/valet/M10 and try it instead. If it’s still not going to work, what you can do is to connect the computer to your network manually. For instructions, refer to this link: Connecting wireless computers to your network.

  • Installing Palm Desktop 6.2 on Vista Business: only installs Media and Install, no Cal, Contacts

I attempted to install Palm Desktop 6.2 under Vista Business on top of Palm Desktop 6.2 beta. I selected a complete install.  After the installation and the device sync, only the Media and Install sub-applications were available on the desktop (though all were still available on the handset).  No Calendar, no Memos, no Contacts, nothing.
I subsequently re-installed (twice), each time removing the Palm Desktop software completely (from the control panel).  Same result.  Is there some trick to this I need to know?
    Thanks.

Post relates to: Treo 700p (Sprint)

Thanks, I very much appreciate the help.  But why does this happen?  I mean, after I tried it,
I figured, okay, maybe if I change the security permissions no the executable so that my id
has full control...  But no.  I did that (also changed the permissions on the link), but when I
bring it up under my account without running it as Admin, it still brings up only the media
portions of the Desktop.  Then I went through c:\Program\Files\Palm and gave full control
permissions to my id for every executable I found in the top level directory.  Still no joy.
I do appreciate the help -- it certainly beats not being able to access my calendar at all --
but I'm afraid I have to call this more of a workaround than a fix.  For one thing, I'd like very
much to be able to access my calendar from a userid on this machine that does not have
Administrative privileges.  Any chance for a fix at any point in the future?
    Thanks again!

Internal Error 2739" I have used the cleanup script included in Adobe Photoshop CS3 installer, and have removed all traces of Adobe apps including the beta versions and Acrobat 8 pro, and I still get the same error, how can I install this application? is there any way or do I have to reformat and reinstall windows?

    Hello everyone,
I was having the same issue:
"Setup Error. Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance. Quit."
If you receive this error also, press Quit and follow these steps:
    1. Start
    2. Control Panel
    3. Administrative tools (in classical view)
    4. Event Viewer
    5. Application
You will see something like this:
Double-Click for error (emphasized by red color). I have an error like this:
"Error 1327.Invalid Drive: E:\" if you have the same or e.g. Drive F:\ ir whatever letter, you should solve this problem extremely easy - just insert USB-flash into computer (it will launch as E\ or whatever disk) and than run installation again. It will work than.
Setup doesnt start if disk is offline.

  • Error message while installing SAP Netweaver 7.01 on Vista

I am trying to install SAP Netweaver 7.01 on my Vista system. After Set FQDN for SAP system when I leave the deafaults and click next, I get an error  " Reverse lookup of address -"52-62-23.140" failed"
Is this because I have not installed the feed back loop on vista ??

    Hello,
there are many absolutely not usefull threads about this issue. MS loopback is not the solution, I have written this in another thread and tried it already with Vista and Win2003.
Is here anyone who is able to explain the following:
    - Win2003 bit or Vista 32bit with VMware using host-only connection
    - IP connectivity between host and guest is working
Host file -- please add an example which is really working.
Which domain name is working? Is DNS server additionally needed?
How can reverse lookup be given without DNS server? In the hosts file? If yes, please enter an example.
    Yours

    All,
A very interesting NOTE to this thread. In order to try and get the "ignore permissions" box to show up in GET INFO (so I could execute Matt the Magician's solution to file sharing issues)-- I ran the terminal command for disabling ACLs on my internal HD / start up disk (as indicated in the linked thread to BDAqua's forum).
Although I understand that this was useless for disabling permissions on the start up disk (as everyone here pointed out) and allowing me to see the "ignore permissions" check box - somehow it did seem to fix my file sharing problem...and that was the root problem I wanted solved in the first place! After doing the terminal command and a quick reboot, I went in and tested file sharing on the chosen directory and I can create new files or work from existing files in the directory, with both users being able to modify / and save from both machines and each machine sees the revisions and can build from them. Bottom line - I'm stoked and want to thank everyone for their help.
The only other tweak I made was going over to my wife's machine and instead of using her log in / password, I just used my name and password to connect to my main machine that was sharing directories. Maybe that's what fixed the problem or the ACL disable but either way...I'm up and running the way I want to be.
Hope this thread helps anyone else who has these file sharing / permissions issues with Leopard. Especially for anyone wanting to do such a simple file sharing set up between 2 computers. I wish I understood exactly which tweak fixed the problem, but at least it works the way I want now.
So happy to be done w/this one!
Thx everyone. Any additional input on what solved it is welcome, so my curiosity is quelled...

  • Can we install oracle 10g database on Windows Vista Home Edition?

Can we install oracle 10g database on Windows Vista Home Edition?

You didn't specify which Oracle10 Edition.
In the case of SE/SE one/EE, with a paid license Supported has a mean impact on production environments with paid licenses, since you wouldn't run on an unsupported platform facing the risk of being left without technical support from Oracle in case of an emerging issue.
For the XE Edition, this is not a certified combination, since the only certified editions are the Business, Enterprise, and the Ultimate editions, but you can try it, you don't have nothing to loose, supported, certified vs. unsupported in this case makes no difference since this XE is not supported either way (no patchsets, no bug fixes, no technical support from metalink), just an AS IS free software.
On the license agreement terms displayed when you download the XE software it states:
    "No Technical Support
Our technical support organization will not provide technical support, phone support, or updates to you for the programs licensed under this agreement."
    and
"THE PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE FURTHER DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS AND IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE."
In case someone would be able to win a trial against oracle due to damage from the use of this software, the amount paid at maximum is 1,000.00 USD, not enough to even pay the lawyer's lunches.
For the XE users the primary source of 'kind of support' is the oracle forums, either the installation forum, the general database or the specialized XE forum.
Of course if this is for your own personal use for learning and testing and there are no third parties you could damage by doing this and if you don't have a paid license for this installation you may try it, but don't expect the Enterprise Manager to behave as defined by the manual, most of it won't work since the Home Edition doesn't have the privileges required for EM to work.
If this is your personal computer and when you bought it the computer provider installed from factory Home Edition, and if you want something to work there, you can try to install a Virtual Machine and install Oracle 10g on a supported guest OS.

  • Problem installing Service pack 1 for Windows Vista 32-bit from windows update

I have been trying to install Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista Home (32 bits) through Windows Update many times. The Update panel shows Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available. I install the update, which by the way, just takes me few minutes curiouslly. The "update succesfully installed" message with the green circle checked on appears. But then, when I check my computer properties, the Service Pack 1 is not there and Windows Updated keeps showing again and again the update for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available and that needs to be installed. I don't know what else to do, can you help me please.

    Hi:
Try downloading and installing the standalone SP1 file.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30
If you get it to install that way, go straight to SP2 with the standalone download.

  • Installing Premiere 6.5 on a Vista 64 Machine

I have been trying to install Premiere 6.5 on my Vista 64 Laptop.  It won't even let the install begin.  If I click on the setup it says "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running.  Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an 32-bit or 64 bit versionof this program then contact the software publisher."
Is there a work around for this at all or am I just out of luck?
    Thanks,
    Mike

I have been testing this for over a week now and everything (my old software/drivers) all work.  I should have said earlier that you can download a virtual copy of Windows XP to use with Virtual PC...Microsoft will give you an operating system to use (activation and all).  Very generous of them considering that they could have made you buy a reduced fee copy.  After install, just copy the virtual XP file and rename it (otherwise it will give you an error message and not boot).  At any rate, you can run DV500 drivers, Premiere 6.5, your favorite old card programs or games or virtually (no pun intended) anything you could run in XP.  You may want to adjust the screen resolution or run in full screen mode, however.
Again, the only drawback is that it is cumbersome to move the files back and forth.  You can drag and drop or utilize a shared folder through your network, but you can't see the files in Windows Explorer since it is a virtual drive and not a "real" one.  You could also upgrade to Premiere Pro (64bit) and Adobe has some excellent tutorial mini-videos on their site if you want to check it out.  I kind of like the trial version of it, but miss the MPEG output and dislike having to learn a new way to author my DVDs using Encore.  Since you can't test Encore in the trial version I am a little concerned that the learning curve will be more than I want to handle at this point.  Premiere Pro is definitely worth the upgrade price though and I still may "bite the bullet" and do it when Windows 7 is released later this year.
So, to sum up here...I would say that you have a few excellent choices of options in this thread....well, that is, except for the one about copying Premiere over and it runs (check my previous post on that - lol).  Good luck to you.

  • Not able to install VC 6.0 SP3......

    Hi all,
I am trying to install VC 6.0 SP3 on Windows 2000 SP3 server satisfying all the prequisites as stated in installation guide.
We are having EP6 SP11 SP3 as portal version. When I run the setup.exe file it asks me for the database id and password. After the successful authentication,it asks me to enter the connection details for IIS and virtual directory.By default the name for home and data directory comes as VCServer and VCData and also 2 URLs.
But "Next" button on dialog box is disabled. So I am not able to proceed futher.
Am I missing any step? Should I need to create the virtual directory before the installation.
    With regards,
    Amol
