Installing certificate file on IPHONE 2.0

tried to install Excahnge 2003 mail support on the iphone. it came upwith authentication error. With other brand PDAs usualy this gets resolved by installing the certificate file *.cer file or *.cab file (for windows mobile) on the pda and the Sync starts.
Questionis how do I install certificate on Iphone? can I just copy the file using active sync and TAP on it on iphone. Please advise

  • How do I install a Root Certificate on my Iphone for an email account?

I use an email account requiring a root certificate to be installed on my phone. I have this on my PC and need to know how to actually import the certificate to my iPhone. I go through the normal setup with the account which shows the correct port settings, however, without the certificate, every time I try getting emails, it fails to connect with the server. Any ideas??

Thanks for the tip. I emailed the certificate to my other email account on my iPhone, but when I tried to open the attached certificate I got a message - "Invalid Profile - Profile format not recognized."
Any other ideas. I may have to just set up another sure email account with another server.

  • I download latest software update for itunes and iphone. they successfully download, but then a message comes up saying unable to install as file has been corrupted. what is the cause?

I download latest updates for itunes and my iphone, when it comes to installing, it successfully downloads, but then i get a message for iphone software error=1403 file corrupted, and for itunes it downloads, then when i try to install it a message says unable to install software, file maybe corrupted!!

The iTunes update must be downloaded and installed before you try and use it to update the iPhone OS
Download iTunes 10.2.2 from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1103
When it completes it will auto mount the disc image and show you the package installer, don't try and do anything with the file until it gets to this stage.
Once that's installed reboot the Mac, run iTunes, connect your iPhone and let it sync, then hit the update button and let it complete that step by itself (which will require a restart of the iPhone)

Installed PS/LR 5 from cloud. Trying to download photo files from Iphone 4S into LR on Imac OS X 10.8.5. No problem with files from Camera Roll but cannot access over 1,000 files stored on icloud. How to?

You need to sync them in iTunes and download them there, then simply open them from the folder where they are stored in other programs.

  • Installing winzip or rar files in  iphone through PC

CAN anyoneone tell me,,,,how can i install rar files from computer in my iphone 3gs.
    I AM WAITING FOR REPLY
    PLZ ANYONE HELP

    For what purpose?
There are many apps (such as Dropbox, iFiles) which can transfer files of any type (including zip & rar) to the iPhone, but since the iPhone cannot open/read zip or rar files without additional software, there wouldn't be much point.

  • IPA File On iPhone

    Hi All,
I have been struggling with this all day and am hitting my head against a brick wall. I am a registered iPhone developer.
My software is on Windows and my app development stuff is on my Mac.
I created an iPhone project in Flash Pro CS5 (Windows machine running XP), used the Keychain utility to create a p12 from my developer cert on my Mac along with a provisioning file.
I click Publish, this creates the Flash IPA file. Now what can I do with this?
I  copy it to my Mac, can see it in iTunes. When I try to copy it to my  iPod I get "The app was not installed on the iPhone <name> because  the signer was not valid"
I cannot seem to do anything with the file in Xcode, perhaps this is not possible?
I have been following instructions here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/iphone/WS144092a96ffef7cc-371badff126abc17b1f-7fff.html
Open the Keychain Access application (in the Applications/Utilities folder).
If you have not already added the certificate to Keychain, select File > Import. Then navigate to the certificate file (the .cer file) you obtained from Apple.
Select the Keys category in Keychain Access.
Select the private key associated with your iPhone Development Certificate.
The private key is identified by the iPhone Developer: <First Name> <Last Name> public certificate that is paired with it.
    Select File > Export Items.
Save your key in the Personal Information Exchange (.p12) file format.
You will be prompted to create a password that is used when you attempt to import this key on another computer.
Convert an Apple developer certificate to a P12 file on Windows
To develop iPhone applications using Flash CS5, you must use a P12 certificate file. You generate this certificate based on the Apple iPhone developer certificate file you receive from Apple.
Convert the developer certificate file you receive from Apple into a PEM certificate file. Run the following command-line statement from the OpenSSL bin directory:
openssl x509 -in developer_identity.cer -inform DER -out developer_identity.pem -outform PEM
If you are using the private key from the keychain on a Mac computer, convert it into a PEM key:
    openssl pkcs12 -nocerts -in mykey.p12 -out mykey.pem
You can now generate a valid P12 file, based on the key and the PEM version of the iPhone developer certificate:
    openssl pkcs12 -export -inkey mykey.key -in developer_identity.pem -out iphone_dev.p12
If you are using a key from the Mac OS keychain, use the PEM version you generated in the previous step. Otherwise, use the OpenSSL key you generated earlier (on Windows).
Do I have to install OpenSSL to do this? I have installed OpenSSL and I try the commands above and am receiving an error.
Are these the steps I need to follow to install my IPA on a device or am I looking in the wrong place? Is there no other way to do this?

Tim thanks for that, it was going great until about 10 mins into the video where you have to upload your file to Apple to create a developer certificate.
I can't do that as I have a certificate already so I tried the process here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/iphone/WS144092a96ffef7cc-371badff126abc17b1f-7fff.html
    Which is:
Convert the iPhone developer certificate to a P12 file on Mac OS
Once you have downloaded the Apple iPhone certificate from Apple, export it to the P12 certificate format. To do this on Mac® OS:
So I use the certificate to create my app in Flash and import it to iTunes (all goes fine). When I go to install it on the device, I get the error message "The app....not installed...because the signer is not valid".
One thing I am trying to work out, if I do the process above do I need to use OpenSSL to create a cert signing request or does the Mac developer cert in .p12 form do it all?
    Any other recommendations?

  • Cannot get a working certificate on the iPhone to get the iPhone working

Hi, We've tried just about everything to get the iPhone working with our Exchange server to push email via active sync. We are using our own self signed certificates, not ones from Verisign for example, and we are using the IP Config Utility 2.0 on Windows XP PC to import the certificates. We have EAS setup on Exchange 2007. We generated the config for the user and emailed the config to a personal user account which we are able to access via the iPhone. We opened the email and double clicked the config file which then installs the profile to the iPhone but we get error 403 when we try and sync email. The iPhone doesn't appear to be presenting the personal certificate to the excchange server correctly which is causing the 403 error.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so do you have a workaround or public fix for it. We are trying to avoid having to go to a certificate authority.
    Appreciate any feedback.

Objective: Get a **** personal certificate working on the stupid iPhone
    Update: Settings
1). Exchange Management Console - Under client access role - Exchange Active Sync - Authentication - basic authentication is checked, ignore client certificates is checked
2). Under IIS Manager - Default Web Site - Microsoft Server Active Sync - Directory Security - Secure Comms - Require Secure cannel is checked, ignore client certificates is checked
    3. Server certificate is installed onto the exchange server - issued by our own certificate authority/server
4). iPhone installed with root certifcate from the certificate server and the exchange certificate which was issued by the certificate server.
Under the above configuration we can get email working fine on the iPhone. Its synced correctly with exchange and able to receive and send email. Both the root and server certificates were installed to the iPhone using the iPCU.
    Ok then, second test
    Settings:
    2 setting changes only applied:
1). Under IIS Manager - set it to require client certificates
2). On the iPhone removed the old profile - updated the profile to include a client certificate issued from the same certificate server that the exhcnage server certificate was issued from. So now there are 3 certificates on the iPhone (the root cert, the exchange server cert and the client cert). NOTE: When viewing the profile certificates on the iPhone the issued by field on the personal certificate is blank, opening it up shows no details. The certificate is a .pfx certificate so this explains why the details cant be viewed.
On re-attempting to sync email we get the 403.7.5 error (client requires a certificate) even though we put one on the phone. It looks like the client certificate either is not being passed through. I've read many forums indicating this issue in that Safari on the iPhone doesn't support client certificates. I've also read that a reverse proxy might be a work around - has anyone tried this?
It doesn't matter whether we use our own client certificate or a client certificate signed by Verisign, both end up with the same result.
Does anyone have an answer yet - has Apple got their act together yet and provided a resolution to this problem?
Can anyone explain to me exactly how the certificate authentication process works. For example we couldn't get it working with "ignore Client Certificates" at first when we just put the exchange server certificate on the iPhone. We had to put the Root CA certificate on the iPhone also???
If anyone can help that'd be great, any help at all at this stage would be good.
    Cheers.

  • Exchange 2007 Wildcard Certificate Supported in iPhone?

Does the iphone support the use of a wildcard certificate?
Our exchange infrastructure utilises a wildcard (*.companyname certificate) from godaddy. All the windows mobile 6.0 devices work fine however I know that windows mobile 5.0 did not support wildcard certificate, any help would be good.
    Thanks.

I've manually installed the client based certificate on the iPhone (a wildcard from Network Solutions), no dice.
Going to try using the server's cert this time...
