Installing ContactSheetII plugin into Photoshop CS5

I've downloaded the CS5 optional plugins, dragged the ContactSheetII icon into plugins folder in CS5 app folder - restarted Photoshop and still do not find the ContactSheetII plugin anywhere.  Seems like it should be so easy - not today.  Any other suggestions?  Thanks!

from answers.informer.com if you have a win os,
Many Photoshop plug-ins have an automated installer which adds necessary data into the registry or places the files into the folder of the software. In case you have plug-ins which are standalone (.8rb, .Plugin, etc) then you should copy those files (please note that Photoshop should be closed at that moment) into the following folder: \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins. The next time when you will open the main software, these plug-ins (if are compatible) will be loaded into the application and then you will be able to access them from the main window of the software. The plug-ins will be accessible from the Filter menu.

  • Installing Mask Pro into Photoshop CS5

I am having difficultly installing OnOne plug-ins (Mask Pro 4, and the free versions of Photoframe and Perfect Effects) into Photoshop CS5.  The OnOne site help gives an updated installer for Mask Pro 4, and says to first remove the old one.  How do I uninstall it?  What is the trick to installing the correct one?

My question was sent on the the PS forum and I received some helpful advice there and from the vendor's tech support.

  • None of my fonts install into photoshop cs5. why?

I had my computer repaired a few months ago by Mac Medics and ever since my photoshop will not install fonts. Its photoshop cs5. I have an osx 10.6.8 system. The fonts install fine in all other adobe and microsoft programs. I tried doing what several of the forums online suggested and nothing is working. Am I missing something? I have reinstalled photoshop. I have done the Application Support route, I have emptied caches. I'm trying to fix it myself before i call MMac Medics. Ideas?

    JesseShell wrote:
Hi Joe. Yes I did that. In fact, yesterday I did it again but I completely uninstalled the whole Creative Suite and disabled it. I reinstalled it. This time I at least found that the Adobe font folder was not empty as it had been before I uninstalled CS. The programs still don't grab the font from my font library like they should but I was at least able to make aliases as before and drop them into the folder. That worked. However, they should be loading directly into the applications.
Most "well behaved" (designed to Apple standard coding practices) applications use the fonts directly out of OS X's own font library, but Photoshop has some old code that builds and uses its own font library. One of Adobe's contributions to their reputation of being a memory hog. IIRC Photoshop Elements and InDesign both have a much newer code base and use the system font library. Why this is creating a problem for you only Adobe knows for sure.

Another issue I've had is that nearly a dozen times over the last three months I get a grey'd out screen and in 50 different languages it tells me to power my computer off. I need to take it back to Medics. Maybe they can fix both issues. For now, I can work with it. Thanks for all the input.
That, my friend, is called a full blown kernel panic and those can be a real bear to diagnose unless they are reliably repeatable. While kernel panics can be caused by software problems the most common causes are a bad CPU, a bad logic board, or bad RAM. I hope you either have Applecare or Mac Medics has you covered under a service warranty on their work as a new CPU or logic board can get pricey!

  • I'm trying to install the Camera Raw plug-in into Photoshop CS5 but it keeps failing

Hi - I'm trying to install Camera Raw plug-in into Photoshop CS5 but it keeps failing - I don't keep any reasons at all. The product is registered - please help!

Which version of Camera Raw? Which camera?
Familiarize yourself with these two tables
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
They tell you which version of Camera Raw is required to support your camera. The also tell you which version of Camera Raw is compatible with your CS5 (up to version 6.7 only).
It may be that the version of Camera Raw you need is not compatible with CS5.

  • How can I process a Sony A7 RAW file into Photoshop CS5.

How can I process a Sony A7 RAW file into Photoshop CS5.  I tried the file DNG converter 8.3, but it did not work.  I was able to download it, but upon reading the memory chip from Photoshop CS5, it reads the jpg files fine, but not the RAW files.  I thought the DNG converter 8.3 was the right file, but apparently it is not.  Perhaps I need to do something in Photoshop CS5 to initiate it, or place it in a particular directory.. Please help.

First of all, you should have used the Adobe DNG Converter 8.6, not an old, obsolete version.  Always use the very latest version.  8.3 was simply the first ACR version to support your camera model, that's all.
Note that the DNG Converter works only on folders, not on individual raw files.  Put all your Sony raw files in a folder and run the Converter on that folder containing the raw files.
I have absolutely no clue as to what on Earth you mean by : "upon reading the memory chip from Photoshop CS5".
You also need to make sure that CS5 is fully updated.  You cannot rely on the highly and notoriously unreliable Adobe auto updater to tell whether you have the latest update installed or not.
I still have no idea what platform you are on, Mac or Windows. Please read the following for next time:
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them, etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster).
A screen shot could be very helpful too.

  • How can i import my scanner into Photoshop CS5?

    Hi.
I have just installed Photoshop CS5 for Windows. I went to import my scanner (Epson Lide 500F) and it's not showing up.
I have reinstalled it, but it still doesn't show up.
Do i need to save it into a particular PS file? At the moment it's going into the Programmes file.
    Thank you

Photoshop CS5 doesn't ship with a TWAIN scanner interface installed, because it sometimes causes problems due to buggy drivers.  It does have a WIA scanner capability; that your scanner does not show up may mean that the drivers for that particular model are not being actively updated by the manufacturer of the scanner.
You can install the optional Twain plug-in into Photoshop CS5 32 bit only, which may get you the functionality you need:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405072.html
Failing all of the above, you may need to get a new scanner.  I have had to buy three myself over the history of Photoshop releases since the '90s simply because of cessation of support.  It is the way it is.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I install Textures into Photoshop CS5?

I just got CS5 and can't figure out how to install textures into it. I am not even seeing a Textures folder. Can anyone provide me with a bit of guidance on this? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Sabrina

This worked for me: I created a Textures folder in my user presets folder (Users/(name)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets); I moved my desired .PSD textures there.  Then, when I restarted PSCS5, I went to Filters>Texture>Texturize and clicked on the flyout menu next to Texture:.  When prompted to Load Texture ... , I drilled down to that same Textures folder I created under my user name.  The texture won't be added to the standard textures (Brick, Canvass, etc.), but PSCS5 will remember the location you specified to look for textures.
You can do the same thing by creating a Textures folder in the Program Files (x86) (Program Files (x86)/Adobe/ ... etc.) but you'll need Administrator powers for this and for every time you want to add textures.

  • Plugins in Photoshop CS5

Please excuse this very basic question. I need to know if my old Photoshop plugins will be compatible with 64-bit Photoshop CS5. All of these old plugins are 32-bit.
I understand that Photoshop CS5 comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. However, if I am using the 64-bit version, will I be able to use my plugins, or will I need to switch to the 32-bit version of Photoshop to use them?
My computer is running Windows 7 (64-bit).
    Thanks.

    That is good news.
I was worried about installing them with the Subscription version, so you answered my next question, and also taught me something. Thank you!

  • Plugins causing Photoshop CS5 to fail

I have installed both the 32- and 64-bit versions of Photoshop CS5.5 under Windows 7 on a new laptop and am now in the process of installing my plugins. Both versions of CS5.5 are failing on a load problem when starting up. I removed my plugin folder and started up both versions successfully. It seemed to be hanging up on the Nik plugins, and so I replaced my plugin folder and uninstalled the Nik plugins. Both versions of CS5.5 started up successfully and my plugins were available (except the Nik ones, of course). However, when I tried to open the onOne plugins, both versions failed again. This may or may not be a Photshop problem. Both these sets of plugins use their own menu structure within Photoshop (see attached screen prints), the Nik one at startup and the onOne one once Photshop has started. I am wondering if these menus are the problem. The attached screen prints are taken on my desktop which is running only the 32-bit version. It is not having any plugin problems. Any suggestions as to where the problem lies?

Automate does work for the onOne plugins. (Didn't know about it before; one learns something new everyday, especially with Photoshop.) When I use the menu drop-down Window > Extensions > onOne, I get the following menu.
Which then contracts automatically to this and locks up Photoshop. I have to ctrl-alt-delete to close the application.
In this case I get the error message that Photshop has stopped responding, which is to be expected when an application freezes.
In the case of the Nik plugins, Photoshop didn't even open. It got a Windows message saying an internal error occurred and Windows would "try to find a solution". I am going by memory here as I would have to reinstall the Nik software to get an actual scrteen print of the message. I have several error messages in the Windows event viewer but cannot say which applies to this situation. The information there also appears rather thin.
This could well be some other software of mine interfering or some internal conflict within Photoshop and its plugins. I will probably have to remove everything relating to Photoshop and reinstall from scratch, testing it at each step, something I would like to avoid if possible.

  • __Just bought a Canon Scanner (CanoScan9000F) - how do I scan directly into Photoshop CS5?

I have a CanoScan 9000F scanner - I'm trying to scan through Photoshop CS5 Extended but I just can't figure it out...
    I downloaded the TWAIN plug-in:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405072.html

Canoscan comes with a bunch of software including ScanGear - in manual it says you should use this instead of Twain (don't know why that) or VIA. If you installed everything correctly you should see the it in File->Import->CanoScan 9000F.
On the other hand I have few questions, maybe someone can help:
    - how to I scan 48bit images into PSE ?
    - is it possiblle to automate dirt / scratch removal for b/w negatives (FARE) ?
    - maybe you know of a plug-in that can do it - I have thousands of black and white films to scan, and doing it by hand is not really an option (for colour materials FARE works great)
Other than that i find the scanner quite good, especially the ability to scan more than one frame at a time - I can set it up in a moment (LED light is great, no warm-up time for a scanner finally), and then let it to the work, while i do my work - as scanning - mebye due to the fact that my computer is not the fastest out there) is still slow - 4 slides take > 30 minutes. But the results are very nice - if you want to check the quality, here is the link to my photographs scanned in PSE and Canoscan (origanally at 3200 dpi, resized for the web).

  • Opening DNG as a Smart Object into Photoshop CS5?

I am using a Windows 7 64 bit platform and CS5 64 bit.  I have the most recent Camera Raw plug in for my Nikon D3100 camera.  In Bridge you are supposed to be able to open a dng file in Camera Raw, make your corrections and then by holding the Shift key it should change the open file button to open it as a Smart Object.  When I do that nothing opens in in Photoshop.
    Any suggestions?

Can you tell me how to access the workflow settings?
Pretty simple (and the settings are sticky), open a raw image and in the center where the processing info is shown (lower center link) which acts both as an info readout AND a button to change the Workflow Options settings, click on this link...it'll give you a dlog to change the Workflow Settings.
Alter the settings and click Done (cancel doesn't work since it works as a Cancel).
Thereafter, unless you make changes, the Workflow Options should be sticky.
Thank you Jeff for the information.
Please let me know if you think the worflow settings are wrong:  Here is how the workflow is currently set:  Space: Adobe RGB 1998; Depth: 16bits/channel;  Size 34072 x 4608 (14.2 MP); Resolution: 260 p/in.; Sharpen: None;  Amount: none;  The bix is checked to open in Photoshop as a Smart Object.
Now here is the thing.  If I am in Bridge and double click on a dng file or right click on a selection of files and choose Open in Photoshop, it opens a Camera Raw window for the file/s and then if I click on the open objects button, it does open them in Photoshop as smart objects.  The problem is that if I select, from the Bridge pop=up menu to open the selected file/s in Camera Raw, it is then that they do not get sent to Photoshop as smart objects.  Nothing happens, they just don't open in Photoshop.
I am also having a very hard time sending dng files from Lightroom into Photoshop.  So clearly there is something not "connected" properly.  Or maybe it is not clearly, but I am supposing that there might be some general issue.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
