Installing CS2 on Windows 7 64-bit

My company owns Illustrator as part of CS2. The guy who edited the Illustrator files has left, so I needed to install it on my PC. I didn't find a post that described all the steps I had to do to get it to work, so I'm posting my notes.
1. Download the updated installer from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/ to c:\cs2inst.
2. Run CreativeSuiteCS2Disc1.exe. This will put the contents of CD 1 at C:\Creative Suite CS2.
3. Do the same for discs 2, 3, and Extras, which will add more files to C:\Creative Suite CS2. Disc 2 had trouble finding that directory, I browsed to and selected it and it worked.
4. Run C:\Creative Suite CS2\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\setup.exe.
5. Follow the defaults to install in the usual manner until prompted for Installation Location. Enter c:\adobecs2, click Browse, browse to c:\, create c:\adobecs2, and select it. (I found a tip to use c:\progra~2, which is the short name for "c:\Program Files (x86)", but the installer complained that the directory was read-only.)
6. Complete instalation as usual.

It is not likely compatible with Windows 7. However, the parts of the suite were never supposed to be split up. If it was installed for one user, then only one user in the company had rights to use the suite. If anyone else in your company is using the suite, then you have no right to use it. If you already have part of the suite installed on your computer, you should be able to install the other parts with no problem.
If you do not have any part of the suite installed on your computer, then you are not able to use the old install anymore since the activation server was taken off line. You will need to re-install new copies following the information in the article below:

  • Adobe CS2 on Windows 64 Bit

    Hi people,
Please can someone help us, having just called Adobe Tech support they have informed us that they no longer support CS2.  We are trying to install CS2 on Windows XP 64 Bit, but during install the setup does not recognise the characters in the path C:Program Files (x86).
We tried loading into the following path 'C: Program Files' it loads but once loaded the program will not run.
Sorry to put such a lame question up but we are struggling and have work to do.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

Try what I did.  The entire cs2 suite is working with 64 bit Windows 7.

  • Installing CS2 Into Windows 7

Has anyone successfully installed CS2 into Windows 7? I've tried to install, but keep getting told that the serial number is incorrect when I know that not to be the case.
    Thanks in advance.

I am glad I read your response, Bob.
I too had the same problem. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. I tried loading CS2 on our new system but mistakingly entered MY name instead of my wife's registered name, and CS2 refused to run. But up to that point it appeared it -might- have been able to run successfully. That was Problem Number-1.
Here's Problem Number-2: Upon atempting to un-install the CS2 program the following message appeared: "Missing or Invalid Personalization Information, Missing Resources Library." What could be worst? I can't even un-install the software!!!
I called Adobe and was dumb-struct at being informed "...we don't support CS2 anymore"! That, in my opinion, is absolutely foolish and non-scenseical on their part because in the least, they could have supported me and prepped me to upgreade and purchase CS3 or 4.
I also tried to re-install CS2, again, on top of its un-installable condition and got the same message as above "Missing or Invalid.... " And so I remain stuck, three (3) months now without a clue as what to do to get out of this conditon.
I even -manually- deleated as many files as I could in the CS2 Programs File directory in an attempt to get some of the "nay-sayers" un-install obsticals out of the way but, I still can't remove the program, nor re-install over it.
I was able to load CS2 into Window 7's Virtual PC mode. But it can not run there as efficiently as I imagine it might in Programs (x86), or in 64 bit mode if it were indeed possible.
I refuse to believe that I alone, out of millions of CS2 users, am in this problem alone.
I need help Abode! I need help with this Bob! I need help from anyone who can help me get out of this mess. Thank you.

  • Install CS2 on Windows 7 32bit and 64bit, please help!

I own a legitmate CS2 Creative Suite and my old Windows XP computer must be retired. Is there any way for a non-technical person like me to install CS2 on Windows 7 64bit? I saw some instructions but they seem geared to very computer knowledgable people and I got lost just reading them. Also, I saw new that CS2 was or is being offered fro FREE from Adobe? Is that true?
OR, will CS2 as a 32bit application be more easily installed on Windows 7 32bit without any special install instructions?
Thank to alll who can help this pathetically technically challenged person! I can NOT afford to upgrade CS2.

Option 2 here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4715553 seems to work:
Copy the installer to your local drive. Right click Setup.exe, Properties > Compatibility tab > Run this in compatibility mode. Choose XP SP2. Click OK. Run Setup.exe
And yes, you can download and install them, see:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4976177
There is still ongoing discussion whether anyone is entitled to install it, or only users with a valid license, but it seems Adobe does not care.

  • HT201468 Can I install on MacBook Windows 32-bit version

Can I install on MacBook Windows 32-bit version?  I went through the installation and when I try to run the update on Windows (due to no internet access) I receive a comment that the Windows and Boot Camp Windows update don't agree? I downloaded Windows update through Boot Camp process?

From the same link posted earlier,
    Mac model
    Windows 8 64-bit
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Windows 7 32-bit
    Windows Vista 64-bit
    Windows Vista 32-bit
    Windows XP 32-bit
    MacBook Pro
    (15-inch, Late 2011)

You can install W7 32-bit, but you will need to use Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033 drivers. You will need to run Bootcamp Assistant 4 from an older version of OSX. You can install OS X: Installing OS X on an external volume - Apple Support which has BCA 4.x and then install W7 32-bit.

  • Can't install itunes on windows 64 bit system

I tried to install itunes on my 64 bit machine, but with verson 6.0.5, it says this software doesnt support 64 bit systems. I tried to install an earlier version i think its 6.0.4.2 not sure, but it does install on my computer. When I try to open the program and quicktime, I get error box saying the program had a problem and couldn't open. Is there anyway to fix this problem, and is there a way to have the newest version of itunes to work on windows 64 bit?
      Windows XP Pro

iTunes and QuickTime have never been supported on the 64-bit version of Windows (look here for the official statement). Some people have managed to get it working (at least tolerably), but from what I've read, a recent update from Microsoft has caused a lot of problems. You might try rolling back recent Windows updates and see if you can get things working again.

  • Still trying to install CS2 on Windows 7 from download

This is my third or forth post.  I have:
Downloaded CS2 from the downloads page.  I installed it using the serial number on that page.  When I try to start Photoshop, it loads but then up pops a message saying "your user name, organaization or serial number are invalid", and then it quits.
It was suggested that I probably have a file somewhere on my computer with info in it from my original attempt to install from my disks.  I have read the Adobe writeup about uninstalling files manually and followed all the directions.  I could not find any of those files on my machine.  It's true, I did try to install CS2 from my disks first and then unistalled it when I was told I could no longer activate that serial number.  I unistalled using the Windows "remove/repair" option.  I agree that there is probably a file lurking somewhere on my computer that has the old info in it but WHERE IS IT??  What's worse is the instructions for manual uninstall use directory names that Windows 7 doesn't use, but I did a search on every file name and didn't find anything.
I have spent so many hours on this, it's getting depressing.
    Now what??
All I need is Photoshop.   I don't really need the rest of the Suite.

If you just want photoshop cs2 then use the single installer for photoshop cs2 instead of the suite installer.
Unistall what you installed and then use the single installer for photoshop cs2.

  • Problems Installing JDK 7u2 Windows 64-bit

I've downloaded the Development Kit but for some reason it won't install. I try clicking on it and nothing...
    Help please.

The problem of installation of JDK 7u2 on Windows x64 is coming for both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of JDK.... However, i have tried installing them on Windows x86 (specifically Win XP SP3 x86 on VirtualBox 4.1.8) and the 32 bit version of JDK seems to be installing just fine on 32 bit Windows.
I might be wrong here but maybe the problem is that the 32 bit code on the JDK 7u2 may contain some 16bit code and so the Windows x64 is not able to run it (x64 OS not backwards compatible with 16 bit code). However the chances of this is slim since this is an update and the JDK 7u1 both 32 and 64 bit versions were fine.
However if this might have happened, then it is also possible that the 16bit code is also present in the 64 bit version of JDK 7u2 and thats why both the versions are not running on Windows x64.
Hoping they fix the issue soon. I need to do some testing and programming on Java 7.

  • Error numbers are 2502 and 2503 for installing iTunes for Windows 64 bits. How to fix?

    Hey guys,
I cannot install iTunes (latest vision) on my new laptop (Windows 64 bits), and it says that the error numbers are 2502 and 2503...
Can someone tell me how to fix this?
    Thank you!

Check your system date & time is correct.
Run the System File Checker: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
If you still have problems try a creating a new user account with administrator rights, log into it, and attempt the install from there.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Problem installing CS2 on Windows 7

I downloaded and attempted to install CS2 from the Adobe website and have been unsuccessful in getting past the "install disc 2" message.
I spoke with a rep via chat and they referred me here.
I have followed the directions that were included with the download as well as what the rep gave and am still unable to get past the install disc 2 message. When I click ok it just pops up again.
Can someone please help me to correctly install this program????
Thank you in advance for any help.

    Hi melisweaver,
CS2 is not compatible with Win 7. Please find the system requirements to install CS2: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-photoshop.html#main_ Older_Versions .

  • Installing JRE in windows IA64 bit machine

I need to install JRE in windows IA64 but I could not find it in the download page. Does any one know if this is still supported? Where can I download the JRE?
    Thank you.

Do you specifically need JRE/JDK1.5? As per your reply, it does not seem to be so. In that case, just use JDK1.4
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/system-configurations.html
It supports windows on Itanium. Also, as you mentioned Jrockit is another alternative. I am not sure, but IBM JDK is also an option, if they have already ported it

  • Downloading & installing CS2 on Windows 7 PC

I  have recently replaced my PC at work. I installed Adobe CS2 on the newer PC, but it will not activate. According to https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.ht ml, I can download it and install, but I have Windows 7, and the webpage tells me I need "Microsoft® Windows® 2000/Windows XP." Can I still download CS2?

Yes. They are minimum requirements, not absolutes. With a bit of technical finesse CS2 should run jsut fine on Win 7.

  • Oracle 9i (9.2.0.8) installed on cloned Windows 32-bit VMC instance

    Hello,
We have a Windows 2003 Server 32-bit VMC instance running a copy of Oracle 9i (9.2.0.8) for QA/Dev work on one of our software products. This software is going to be moved over to an Oracle 10g database with our next product release. In order to test the results of moving our software to 10g, our system administrator cloned the current VMC instance (giving it a new IP and computer name).
I've found that adjusting the TNSNAMES.ORA for the database and Oracle client on the new (cloned) server instance still does not allow the Oracle listener to start properly on the new server... I'm suspecting that there are other areas of the database/client that need to be manually updated, to change any references to the old server name and/or IP address.
Has anyone had to go through this type of manual correction before, that can give me some tips on what areas/files to update so that the database/client will work properly on the new, cloned instance?
    Thank you!
    Sabrina G.

Could you please specify the error message displayed. And what does VMC stands for?
