Installing CS3 as a demo

Can I use the real Install DVDs for Creative Suite Standard (CS3) to run as a 30day demo. Or do I have to download a special demo dmg?
I've just got a new intel mac so would like to do this until I can upgrade a different license CS2 to CS3 with a free (hopefully) CS4.

I've given my daughter my old CS3 Design Suite. It is properly de-authorized from my computers. I am running CS4.
She tried the CS4 30 day free demo. She has since "uninstalled" it from her MacBook Pro.
She's trying to install the CS3 Design Suite and gets a message "Install the CS4 disk".
What is the trick to installing CS3 when you have previously had a trial version of CS4?

She probably needs to run Adobe's CS4 Clean Script. Here's the link:

Installing CS3 screws up DNS?

This is almost too strange to believe, but here are the
facts:
- New machine, Dell, XP, pretty much right out of the box
- Norton 360 installed, everything is up to date
- Windows Updates all up to date
- Only other software installed is Flight Simulator
- IP configuration is exactly the same as three other
machines in my office, all plugged in to the same switch running
through the same hardware firewall (SonicWall), then through the
same router out over the same broadband connection
- Ping resolves names correctly before installing the

Here is where it gets weird. I download the CS3 demo on this
machine - so yes, the network is fine. I install the product and
reboot when prompted. After the reboot, I can't ping anything by
name. I can ping anywhere (inside my LAN and out over the WAN) by
address but the DNS lookup is busted. I checked the IP
configuration and it hasn't changed in any way I can detect. I
rebooted several times just to make sure I wasn't crazy, did an
ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew several times as well. I
uninstall DreamWeaver and reboot and guess what - DNS starts
working again.
What on earth is DreamWeaver doing to my network
configuration that would bust DNS? Why is it doing it? Is there any
way to make it stop? DreamWeaver was highly recommended and I would
like to give it a try but a web development tool that can't access
the web is pretty useless.
Anyone have any ideas?

The CS3 products install Apple Bonjour, which is a multi-cast
DNS responder.
1. start --> run --> cmd
2. :"C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe" -remove
3. rename mdnsnsp.dll to mdnsnsp.old
4. reboot
5. delete bonjour folder
That should fix your problem.

Do I need to install CS3 on Windows 7 64 bit before installing CS5 Upgrade?

I am replacing a graphic designer's Windows Vista laptop with a Dell Precision T5500 desktop. Do I need to uninstall CS3 from the laptop and decommission the serial number? Then do I need to install CS3 on the new desktop before installing the CS5 upgrade? I was told I needed to decommission the installation, but I don't remember having to do that with other installations. Thanks in advance!

You should definetly deactivate any software before uninstalling. But you don't have to install CS3 in order to install CS5. Just have the serial number handy for verification. That said, depending upon the user's needs, you might want to leave CS3 available.

CS3 is unsupported under Windows 8. That said, you'll need to contact Adobe
directly for serial number issues.

HELP New Install CS3.3 on a MAC

I have a Mac freash out the box it has OX 10.5 and I tried to install CS3.3 upgrade on it but all it did was install fireworks and Pro 9.
my question Do I have to have CS3 on my Mac first then use the up grade CD to upgrade should the up grade have to full virsion on it too? or I'm I doing something wrong ? Please help me

The CS3 to CS3.3 upgrade is nothing but Acrobat 9(and in the case of
Design Premium, Fireworks).
Pop CS3 DVD in and do a custom install without Acrobat 8.

The installations stopped and asked for adobePDF.dll on windows vista CD ROM path C;\program files(x86)\adobe\acrobat 8.0\acrobat\xtras\acrobat pdf\i386\

Can't install CS3 on Windows 7

I know there's a similar discussion in this section, but I'm having slightly different issues with my version. I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I bought my copy of CS3 (Design Premium) used via Amazon.
There are a couple different things going on. First, while I understand that this software takes up a lot of space and will require some time to install, mine is taking an exceedingly long time. I've left the computer running for hours - as in 5 or 6 or more. The place it gets stuck is the installation progress window - those progress bars do not move the entire time, and I also notice the disk drive stops making noise, so absolutely nothing gets installed and no progress toward installation happens.
Also, I did have CS3 on the computer previously as a trial version (I did not enter a serial number) and uninstalled it once the trial ended, so I still have the downloaded setup/installer and I tried using that, assuming I can just enter the serial number included in the purchased version. I get told the serial number is invalid...though that may be because the previous version was the full suite and I just kept a couple programs. When I installed CS3 that last time, I don't even think it took an hour to install (I only installed Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Flash). So I have no clue why it won't install now. Note I uninstalled the old version before trying to install the new one, mostly because I couldn't run any of the programs.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The computer is not very old - only about 4 months old, no viruses, not used much, so there shouldn't be anything going on to interfere with installation. Also, I did get CS3 for Windows, so the OS is not the issue either. Is the fact that my version is pre-owned a potential cause for problems? Like maybe the previous owner never deactivated the software before selling it? Are the previous version and current version somehow conflicting with one another despite uinstalling?

Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, try again. and if you bought it used, you will have to run a Transfer an Adobe product license to handle activations properly.

Have you tried installing it or are you just assuming you cannot. You are normally allowed to install and activate on two machines.

Error 1720 when installing CS3 on Win 7 64-bit home premium

I've been directed to the Forum for help as the Support Tech said she could not help me as they only help with CS5. She said that CS3 WON"T WORK on a Windows 7 machine and yet I have googled and found people who have had it work. She then told me that they will probably experience lag and other errors once they start using it more fully. I smelt BS right about then in that conversation. She couldn't confirm that if I purchased CS5 upgrade that my CS3 upgrade would qualify as upgrade. Yeah, I'm really going to spend $800 to find out (not).
Basically it ended where I either buy CS5 or go the Adobe Forums for help.
So okay here I am. Long post (sorry) but want to get all the fact out there.
I purchased CS3 back in 2008 and installed on my XP machine.
Just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit home premium.
Tried to install CS3 and as soon as it tries to install I get this message:
Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance.
Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I have tried the following solutions (found on Google), none of them work:
1) installing in safe mode (with just Windows features in the start up)
2) redownloading the files to ensure I didn't have a corrupted version
3) installing as Administrator
4) deregister/register Windows Installer
5) looked for update to Windows Installer but mine is up to date
6) checked that Windows Installer had "started" on my laptop (yes)
7) used Adobe cleanup utility
8) used Adobe licence recovery (Acrobat Pro (CS3) wouldn't get past the licence stage although it did install)
Support Tech lady said that no old CS software would work on Windows 7 BUT last night I installed Photoshop CS Version 8 and it installed perfectly. What I noticed different is that PS CS V8 used Installshield whereas CS3 I am told didn't use Installshield.
So I am left with my new laptop using PS CS V8 with Dreamweaver MX.
BTW Dreamweaver MX installed okay and it used Installshield too - so is that the reason CS3 won't install - it not using Installshield?
Does anyone have any solutions not tried above?
Am I just going to have to use old software on my Win7 machine?

Yes I have tried the CS5 Cleanup Tool - multiple times. Doesn't help.
I am surprised to hear that you installed with no problems in light of Tech Support being adament that it won't work on Windows 7 and is not supported.
I told Tech that I didn't accept that as there are probably hundreds of thousands of users with CS3 who have installed or tried to install on a Win7 machine and not everyone has hundreds of dollars spare to upgrade.
I only really use DW, PS and Acrobat in the Suite so I'm going to have to save to buy those products but it won't be anytime soon.

Hi Shada this can happen if you are including additional installers to your installer for example DAQmx. When you are doing this the installer has to include other files like MAX (Measuremente and Automation Explorer). Probably when you installed Vision Builder it updated MAX, so when your installer is trying to Include MAX, its asking for the source where it was installed in your computer in this case Vision Builder.
Here you can cache the information so its not asked again, or you can download a newer version fo DAQmx, so it will update MAX and change de dependecy.
