Installing CS3 Premium with CS4 demo installed impossible...

I am attempting to merely install Adobe CS3 Design premium on a mac that has the CS4 demo installed. During installation it ejects the DVD and asks to put in the CS4 disk...
I don't have CS4 disks.
Any clues? The plethora of Adobe install and updates issues are well known, and won't add yet another rant here, just looking to see if anyone else has seen this and knows of a possible fix.
Thank you.
Starts with "Currently repairing Shared components", and then it ejects the DVD and then says:
"Installer Alert: Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium: Please insert Adobe Flash CS4 Professional to continue installation".
What? Why?!

Update... using the adobe CS3clean script fixed this.
So strange. But thanks.

  • Trying to install CS3 Premium

I am buying CS3 Premium. The person who is selling it to me has done the licence transfer, although I've been waiting 3 weeks for an email about this and it hasn't arrived (from Adobe).
So, I thought I'd try it anyway. He's selling me his complete upgrade sequence, PS5.5, CS2 Premium and CS3 Premium, so I can follow the same path he did. Yes, he's de-activated and uninstalled everything.
He also sent me the list of his registered applications, a screenshot from his account. It shows he had PS5.5 and CS2 Premium registered - looks like he didn't register CS3 Premium.
So, I installed CS3 - no luck. Right at the end of the process I was asked for the CS3 sn, fine, that works. Then I'm asked for a qualifying sn, fine, the CS2 sn was accepted. Then I was asked to enter a 2nd qualifying sn, for CS2 upgrade. All I've got is the upgrade version, which was accepted as full version, but not as an upgrade. Don't have another serial number, not offered any more choices.  Even though I have PSCS2 standalone entirely legally installed (registered under my business account). Oh, and PS7, if it matters. Also totally legal.
OK, uninstall CS3 (properly) and start again.
Install CS2. All goes well. It installs, using the sn from PS5.5 as well. I register it, I activate it.
So - the transfer must be OK and legit, or I couldn't have registered it, right? Because it WAS registered to the bloke who's selling it to me. I have proof. And I have just registered it. Yes, using the correct email address.
Try again to install CS3, without uninstalling CS2.
    CS3 serial number accepted.
BUT now I need the sn for CS2.3 Premium to continue. Not CS2. That one is rejected. Has to be CS2.3.
So, I go to open a question in support - but I can only ask a question about my registered products - which allegedly do not include CS2!!!!!
Before I enter telephone hell, can anyone spot a flaw in all this?

So, I uninstalled CS3 while waiting for my issue to be resolved, trying to stop the clock since it was running as a trial. Did it via Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers > CS3 Uninstaller. (Mac 10.4.11).
Right at the end I came back and saw a screen saying it was done and stupidly hit 'Finish' before reading the small print that I think was about this:
I still have an InDesign CS3 folder (looks like a generic folder), with an unknown document inside, called InDesign CS3 but it's not, and a fonts folder containing a file called AdobeFnt11.lst, which opens as an empty document.
Can I just bin these? The uninstaller has disappeared now so I can't have another look.

  • Install CS3 along with DW8?

Can I install CS3 Design Premium without uninstalling DW 8?
I've tried searching for this info but haven't been able to find it
so far. I'm running on Windows XP Pro if that makes a difference.
I want to start using the other pieces of CS3 but want to
continue using DW8 until I finish my current project.
    Thanks.

    Sure, you can.

  • Cannot Install CS3 Contribute with SMS

    The Adobe documentation page
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Contribute/4.1_CPS/help.html?content=con_config_deploy_cd_18.h tml
states that you can install Contribute with SMS. However if you try
to run the msi using MSIexec the program tells you to run with
setup! Setup is an initialising package which then starts another
setup and performs the actual install. Hence it is not possible to
reliably install the product with SMS unless it is
    repackaged!

I am getting the exact same message and have the same problem, it won't install the other applications. Did you get an answer to your question?

  • CS3 deactivates after CS4 is installed.

    Hi all,
I installed CS4 Design Premium on a Power Mac G5 which already had CS3 Design Premium on it activated and running for a while now. Now the CS3 apps ask for the serial (that I have) and tells me the serial is invalid. Anyone else come across this?

    No, call customer service.
I have all versions of the creative suite working nicely with each other.
I also have all versions of Photoshop going back to version 2.5.1 and they all work.

  • Does installed cs3 interfere with installation of new cs6 subscription?

This is for photoshop.   Also does new scription download automatically uninstall the existing cs3 program.?

no, you should be able to install and use cs3 and cs6 apps on the same computer.

  • Installing cs6 software with  cs5 already installed?

    can run both cs6 and cs5 ?
I currently have cs5 design premium installed and would like to check out the creative cloud cs6
trial software without messing up my cs5 install?

Yes you can run both versions.  As long as you run the proper uninstallation process it should not affect your Creative Suite 5 installation.

  • CS3 SDK with CS4/OS X 10.6

    Hi all,
I am just looking to get head around Scripting with CS, but I am using CS4 on Mac OS X 10.6.
Can anyone give indication if this is a waste of time or suggest best approach - primarily looking at AppleScript, but maybe with a bit of JavaScript.
    Cheers
    C

As far as I know, scriptings works pretty well on all platforms for CS4. AI uses ExtendScript (which is basically Javascript) and has its own debugger & everything. That said, I think you'll find much more help in this forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator/illustrator_scripting
This forum is primarily for the C++ SDK, not scripting

  • Installing oracle 9i with 10g database installed , what do you suggest ?

    hi guys,
i have just installed oracle 10g on my WINDOWS XP machine
    Checked the registry , the
    oracle base
and oracle home values are as following
    oracle_base - c:\oracle\product\10.2.0
    oracle_home - c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db1
the values are correct according to what the oracle documentation has said.
now i would like to install oracle 9i on my windows XP machine as well and i would like both the 9i and 10g database to have the same ORACLE_BASE, different HOMES as what the OFA is capabable of providing.
However, i cant adopt the naming practise of oracle_base in 10g, as , IF i set the oracle_base of 9i to
    c:\oracle\product\9.2.0 - then i would have 2 different oracle_base which is wrong
    1) c:\oracle\product\9.2.0
    2) c:\oracle\product\10.2.0
SO i have to set the oracle_base of BOTH the DB to
    1) c:\oracle\product
to have them both having the same ORACLE_BASE.
what do you guys suggest ? or is there any impact ?
or should i just stick to 2 different base and 2 different homes.
    Thanks guys.

    Set ORACLE_BASE to \oracle\product
Then set the individual homes at the db_1 level.

  • Installing CS3 on a Computer that is pre-installed with CS4

I purchased a laptop that is licensed to pre-load CS4 Master suite. I receive no cd or serial number or anything. I called Adobe to make sure that this was legal and was told that Adobe does do this with big sellers. Anyway I received the first laptop and did a migration and because I have other CS versions on my computer the license for the CS4 disappeared. I sent the computer back and I now have another. I am teaching at two different schools and still need my CS3. Adobe advised me to not install CS3 because they share some folders or something. Is there a way to install CS3 without ruining CS4?

never heard of preinstalled Adobe software
to install CS3 you must uninstall CS4 then install CS3 then reinstall CS4.
CS3 and CS4 both coexist together.

  • CS4 Dreamweaver says  "License expired" even after installing Web Premium CS4

I just purchased Web Premium CS4. I had CS3 and Dreamweaver CS4 Beta installed. Learned that I needed to uninstall CS4 Beta, used
the CS4 Uninstall script. Reinstalled CS4, it showed Dreamweaver would be installed (was no longer a greyed point). Went through entire installation. Everything works except Dreamweaver which continues to say "license has expired" as if it still has the beta license in there even though I've used the script to uninstall! Help, how can I get it to use the new licensed version?
The rest of the Web Premium CS4 applications are working properly, only Dreamweaver is giving me problems!
Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP3
Both my laptops have the exact same problem.

    Hi,
I downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS4 and ran it OK for about a week. Then all of a sudden it just crashed and wouldnt open anymore. No warnings etc. Just wouldnt open.
I'd seen enough of the program so decided I'd buy it and got CS4 extended (student version). Great stuff I thought. Uninstalled the trial version and went ahead with loading up the new program. All went well with the install, accepted my product key no problems. Then the dreaded "License has expired" has come up and I'm basically left with a brand new program that does nothing at all sitting on my computer. Bridge and drive etc work OK - or seem to.
I've had a case opened with Adobe for 3 days now and have had no response at all. - not that I'm expecting too much after reading comments on here and around the net. Seems they have my cash and thats it as far as they're concerned.
Luckily I dont have too much important stuff on my laptop and have it all backed up. So I'm tempted to be a bit extreme as long as I get some confidence it would work.
I'm presuming that if I format the Hard drive (its not partitioned) and reinstall my OEM Vista (from a Dell Disk) then there should be no problems with installing CS4 again and getting it to run without all the trouble of it seemingly looking at the wrong key for activation. I'm not sure if the OEM disk allows me to reformat the complete hard disk prior to loading Vista again. Or whether it will just keep the old stuff on and mess things up again.
I know the retail versions give you an option of a complete fresh install, but I dont really want to go and buy a copy of Vista just to get CS4 to work, and with Windows 7 on the horizon.
It might be cheaper to just to a larger hard drive (which I want anyway) and install on that.
Any opinions? I just really want to get this up and running.
    Cheers for any help.

  • CS3 Premium Install error - Internal error 2739

I have attempted to install CS3 Premium on a Microsoft Vista sysem. When I click to install I get an error "Internal Error 2739. Contact Customer Support." I have been on the phone with customer support twice today with the same tech for several hours, and we haven't been able to resolve the problem yet.
He tells me that the problem is that "Java script" is not installed on my almost new Dell XPS. I even reinstalled Vista at his suggestion and get the same error when attempting to install CS3.
Has anyone else had this problem? Or has anyone had experience trying to install JAVA. It will not install on my system either.
    Any suggestions?

try installing the newest update for java runtime 6 update 4.
    http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
it was just release a couple days ago i think. anyways i was having this exact same problem and i donwloaded this and to fix it. i have vista 32 bit. fyi i will tell everyone how i downloaded it. now java has been having issues on my system so i could not use the adobe download manager to download trial for premiere would tell me fatal error (just like how it would tell you in this problem) and the java online installation did not seem to be working for me so what i did was in firefox go to tools and then to options and i disabled java and java script. that allowed me to use download manager to donwload the premiere trial and the upadate 4 offline installation. i closed all windows and installed it and restarted just in case and worked after that. try it. i tried reinstalling java 6 update 3 a few times with no success. hope this helps everyone. i have no idea if this will fix the runtime errors with older versions of encore, premiere, or photoshop or encore cs3. want to wait for service pack 1 for vista to come out before i try the trials for those ones.

  • Cannot install CS3

    I have a Windows XP3 machine. With MX 2004 and Dreamweaver 8
installed. Tried several times to installed CS3. Only Components
Share installed. Dreamweaver CS3 and etc. refuse to install. Any
idea how to solve the matter. Thanks for your time.

When I tried to install CS3 on an XP machine I couldn't
    either. I realized
it was because I needed a DVD drive. It wouldn't install from
    my regular CD
drive. Maybe you're experiencing the same problem I did.

  • Automating OS install in WDS with multiple boot image

Hi, can someone explain to me if it is possible to completely automate a windows install in WDS with 3 different install and boot image. I am new to this and trying to learn everything i can.
I have 3 unattended files attributed to each install.wim already (and they work fine) and 1 unattended file for Windows Deployment Services.
my problem is as soon as the client PC PXE boot, I'm presented with 3 options in boot manager, maybe because i have 3 boot.wim files (from what i understand). after i pick which boot option
i want to use, i don't have to do anything anymore and windows is installed, the disk is partitioned and a user account is created.
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByIjtLJtT3oHaTFLcF9mWldnZmM/edit?usp=sharing
Is it possible to have an unattend file that will help me bypass the 3 options  to make the process completely automated.
Can i create a script for a type of PC or brand of PC, so that the deployment server can see what type of PC or what brand of PC it is and automatically pick the boot file for that pc and automate the rest of the install. (maybe another software that can help
me do that, or i need to put something on the client computers so that they themselves pick the appropriate boot options)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Georges

If you are new to deployment you should really learn the recommended way to deploy os:es.
You should use MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit)

Here is a good virtual lab to get started:
