Installing CS4 On New Windows Laptop

Hello... I have just purchased a new Dell Laptop with a Windows 8 OS and I have attempted several times to install my Adobe CS4 Creative Suite. Each time I get the same error saying, "Installation of the following components has failed". Any suggestions on how to install this successfully will be well received. Thanks.

Try compatibility mode for Win 7 and of course make sure to run as admin...

What is the size of your hard disk? PSE 4 is a very old program and I suspect it is not able to access the entire hard disk on your machine. Just a thought here.

With a single user license, you can install Acrobat on maximum two computers, say, your laptop at work and desktop at office.
But, you cannot use Acrobat on both the machines simultaneously.
You will first need to deactivate Acrobat from the old machine, then install and activate the software on the new OS with the same serial key.

How can I save my current Firefox customization to install on a new Windows 7 installation

This is not asking for a problem fix.
How can I save my current Firefox 3.6 customization, toolbar set-up, plug-ins, add-ons, etc. to a file or files so I can install it, pre-customized, after I do a re-format and clean install of a new Windows 7 operating system?
I am currently in Windows Vista.
I'm just trying to make it so I don't have to re-customize everything I already have done by doing a fresh installation of Firefox.
Or can I just save the existing Mozilla Firefox program folder and then drag and drop it into the new programs folder in Windows 7?

Just saving the progams folder will not work, the user data is stored elsewhere.

If your library was working on your computer and then popped up empty all of a sudden then this might be what you need...
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Btw, should have been clearer as one couldn't imagine I meant that 5.5 (i.e. ancient one). The adobe website also has this info: Windows 8.1 compatibility for Adobe Photoshop version 5 which just says version 5.5 under compatibility. So it does seem possible indeed to run this but perhaps for someone more techie. Had a look at the thread re: 6.0 and tried to run it as admin. Tried copying the contents on the desktop and change the compatibility under properties (even ran compatibility trouble shooter under properties) - but in vain. Must be doing something wrong. Prolly easier to return the CD (:/)
If anyone could drop an idea in relation to how/where to buy a genuine and legal copy of a CS5/CS6 I woudl greatly appreciate. I bought the 5.5 off eBay and probably will search for the right version this time on there again. But it's a bit of a question mark for me in regards to how do I make sure that I buy a genuine licenced version which I can register with the Adobe.

This will allow you to see all of your photo and video content on devices using it.

Why isn't itunes 11.1.3 installing on my new VAIO laptop with windows 8.1 (64 bit)?

I am trying to install itunes on my new VAIO laptop 64 bit with Windows 8.1 operating system. At the end of the installation, as soon as itunes is trying to open, an error message comes up, saying "an error has caused the program to stop running." I tried the compatibility troubleshoot, it says "incompatible program". Does that mean, even latest version of itunes can not run on windows 8.1? If there is any solution, please advise. By the way, I have tried to run it on compatibility mode for windows 7 , windows vista etc, no luck. Thank you.

Installing Photoshop CS4 on new Windows 8 machine

When I try to run Setup.exe to install CS4 on my new Windows 8 machine, an error message comes up "The Installer Database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer Service." I have already installed Lightroom 4, and it worked correctly. What should I do?

if you've had a cs4 (trial or otherwise) previously installed, run the cleaner (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and restart your computer.
then install using compatibility mode and running as administrator.

Getting a new Windows laptop to join my Mac network

I have 2 macbooks (Mountain Lion) and a XP laptop connected wirelessly to a time capsule...(the 2 macs backup) and I get my wireless signal from the TC. There is also an HP wireless printer which all three computers can print to.   I am replacing my Windows machine (which I like to use for work) with one running Windows 8. (I know, I know - but it was a great buy and I need to connect to my work server - and no, I did not want to dual boot or use parallels as it defeats the pupose of having a mac - as far as I'm concerned).
When I originally put my windows XP machine on the network, I believe, I just used the disc that came with the time capsule and the printer (for mac and PC) and it installed the proper software - I believe it was bonjour, the printer software, and airport (did that come from TC setup?). I don't quite understand what airport and bonjour do. I THINK bonjour finds the printer and macs? and Airport connects to the TC for internet - Am I on track?

The windows machine does not back up to TC - but there is a small space on the TC that I am able to copy pictures from my Windows computer to the TC for backup purposes. The new computer is supposed to have software to grab files and settings from my old windows computer. Will that set me up automagically? Pretty close. Bonjour does help "find" Macs or printers for the PC, especially if those printers are attached to the AirPort's USB port. The AirPort Utility, on the other hand, is only required if you plan on administrating the AirPort from your PC, otherwise, you don't need to install it. You can find both Bonjour and the AirPort Utility for Windows from the Apple Support Downloads site.

For basic wireless access, your PC just needs a wireless adapter. Windows 8 already has the right software to provide wireless capability for the device. For accessing the TC's internal or externally attached HDDs, again the PC has the right software to do so right "out of the box." PC use the SMB protocol to "talk" to network drives. Your TC supports this file sharing protocol. Accessing the TC would be no different than any other network file share. You would do so through Windows Explorer.

I am trying to install CS4 Web Premium (student edition) on my new laptop (MacBook Pro, Mac OS 10.7.3, 2.3GHz Intel Core i7) using the install disc. However the disc stops during "initializing" and there is no error message. I have cleaned and checked the disc and there is nothing visibly wrong with it.
Is CS4 incompatible with my laptop or is it the disc? If it's the disc, can I download a version of CS4 Web Premium?

Installing CS2 so I can install cs4 upgrade on windows 7

I just got a new pc has windows 7 pro OS and need to install my adobe CS. I have CS2 with a CS4 upgrade. As you can probably guess i am having trouble getting the cs to install. I would like to upgrade to cs 5.5 but if I cant get the cs 2 on to upgrade to cs 4 I doubt i can get a cs5.5 upgrade installed! I have tried installing cs2 a couple times and keep getting the serial number screen. When I uninstalled it I had to deactivate it so it would seem that it was acttive just unusable. I will try running the cs4 uopgrade in thje AM but was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a waste of my time or is there actually a way to get this installed and working properly. any help is greatly appreciated.

about. I wanted a backup in case Freehand tanked. Kept using FHmx and
forgot I even had CS4. So FHmx tanked Friday and I can't get it to show
the toolbars. So, I'll install CS4 and work all weekend on this rush

Creative Suite serial numbers have always been platform specific: Windows only or Mac only.
The only time you get to choose is at the point of sale.
After that swapping to another operating system requires a platform transfer process but that is only available for the current version (CS6)

In short, you're unfortunately stuck with CS4 for Windows.
Your options now are either to buy CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud. Or run Windows on your Mac via Parallels or Bootcamp or similar and install CS4 for Windows in that environment.
One of the features of Cloud software is that it can be used interchangeably on Mac and/or Windows at any time without any platform swapping processes or paperwork.
