Installing CS4 Trial Errors

I know this has been discussed ad nauseaum but after reading through message archives I still have a question or two.
Yesterday I attempted to purchase CS4 online, Adobe's store was experiencing problems and I was advised to call to make my order which I did.
The person I talked to on the phone advised me to download the trial to play with until my disk copy arrived, which I did.
During installation I got the now infamous CS4 Install error, adobe common set rgb error, error# 1603 fatal error during installation. I was given the option to comintue the installation and at the end it said there were errors but I could use it with some limitations. I clicked on the place for error details and then on the assistance button and followed all of the instructions on how to correct the error and then reinstalled. The same error came up so I went through the steps again this time running the installer as administrator, same thing. I am using Vista 64 bit.
After reinstalling 5 times with all other programs off including firewall and virus protection and following adobe's instructions to the letter the error persisted. I decided to try opening CS4 and it opened just fine, I have played with it all day and everything I have tried to do including printing works flawlessly. Of course in one day I haven't used absolutely every feature but I have used quite a few.
I wouldn't be concerned except for the fact that I will need to uninstall it in a few days and install the disk version and I'm wondering just what kind of headaches I'm going to be in for. I really don't want to use the cleaner because I would rather not have to uninstall everything else adobe, I have a lot of customizations in PSE7 than I prefer not to have to redo as well as a fully populated organizer.
Can I expect problems with the disk version?

I did not uninstall, I followed Adobe's instructions to the letter including
the changes to the registry. I did not run Clean Script partly because I did
not know of it then and after I learned about it they said it uninstalls ALL
Adobe products and I do not want to do that. I have way too many things in
PSE7 to consider doing that at this time. As far as I know I have full
access to all of my directories. I do have both of my monitors calibrated so
there are profiles for them. I have no idea how to do anything about the
monitor profiles. That is probably the problem, the monitor profiles.
CS4 trial is working fine so I'm not going to mess with it until my CS4
disks arrive and I'm ready to uninstall the trial and install the registered
version.

  • Alert when installing CS4 trial suite on Windows 7

    Hi,
    When I try to install CS4 trial software on Windows 7 Family Premium I get a message saying I do not have Windows XP 64 bits or Vista 64 bits and I should upgrade my system...  How come?
    I have a new Toshiba laptop with 4gb of RAM and 500Gb of HD.
    I see setup.exe dates back from September 2008 so it is not surprising Windows 7 is not recognized.  Should I install anyway?
    Thank you for your help.

    Thank you for your time.
    Yes the message is about upgrading to Vista or XP because the requirements are not satisfied.  But I have Windows 7 Home Premium...
    Here is a copy of the message:
    The minimum system requirements listed below are recommended in order to  run Adobe Creative Suite CS4 properly and are not met:
    Windows XP  64-Bit Service Pack 1 and greater
    Windows Vista 64-Bit Service Pack 1 and greater
    It is  recommended that you upgrade or adjust your system to meet these minimum  requirements and the restart the installer.
    I finally decided to continue the install and it seemed ok.  The only problem I have is with Dreamweaver because I cannot put the right root folder in the website setup dialog (I select the right folder but it writes the folder above it).

  • Need help installing CS4 trial

    Every time I try to install the trial, I get an error message about 1/4 of the way through saying: "the following components could not be installed: Adobe Bridge, Adobe Photoshop."  I Don't know what to do (i even tried installing it several times, but the same error message occured every time.) Does anyone know what to do, cause I really wanna try out this program.

    I think this is not going to work. In particular the mere 512MB of RAM may actuially already prevent the installer from even being able to extract the required files. Min specs for CS4 states 1GB and even that can by no means be considered sufficient to run most apps smoothly. You may be able to get it to run by cleaning up your system here and there, but that is beyond what this forum can provide for. Nobody knows, what specific drivers and otehr software you have on the system that may hinder successful running of the installer.

  • Please help!!! I can't install CS4 Trial...

    I followed the instructions to a T and when I click on the PS symbal that says setup, it won't do nothing. I tried it on my laptop but it won't work on my sons computer for him to try out the software.
    Anyone have any other suggestions?
    By the way, I am not running a 64 bit computer so I think I am safe. My sons computer is a about 5 yrs old.
    Thanks a million,
    Melissa

    Well, FIND IT, FLANG BLAMMIT!!! :) XD
    Found it here:

    Some info:

    Some discussion here:

    If it helped you, it may help others. I didn't make the request and ask the questions I did for myselfI'm a Maccer and have no plans to upgrade from PS CS2 any time soon.
    That said, though, the problem you stated, and the info you gave, the solution that worked for you...after reading this thread several times, I can't help but feel that there have to be some important details that have been left out. What they are I have no clue about.
    But getting from "Can't Install a trial version" to "I fixed it by running a script"one that, on the surface, doesn't even seem to be meant to address the problem you were havinghas left me scratching my head. The "DropletFixer.vbs" script was created before PS CS4 was even released.
    But, hey...if it worked, it worked!

  • PS CS3 installed CS4 trial question

    I have PS CS3 Extended installed and would like to know if I can install the trial of PS CS4 Extended at the same time? In running XP and would naturally use a different installation folder.
    Thanks.

    The only issue (not so much of an issue) that I have come across is that photoshop uses photoshop.exe to open the program. You cant use PS CS3 and PS CS4 at the same time. Sometimes I forget that CS3 or CS4 is open and when I go to open the other, the one that is open pops up instead.
    As John said PS is a standalone application.

  • Cant Instal CS4 Trial on iMac G5

    Hey,
    While this computer is more than powerful enough to run CS4 InDesign, each time I try to install the trial (When I double-click Setup, and type in the administrator's password) the icon disappears.
    I am running Tiger 10.4.11 with a 2Ghz PPC G5, with 768 MB ram.
    Would really appreciate any help! I have even tried installing the CS3 trial and the same thing happens, though the same .dmg file installs fine on my iBook G4.
    Thanks again!

    Mac system requirements for standard and extended Photoshop CS4 is:
    * PowerPC® G5 or multicore Intel® processor
    * Mac OS X v10.4.1110.5.4
    * 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
    * 2GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on flash-based storage devices)
    * 1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with 16-bit video card
    * Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
    * DVD-ROM drive
    * QuickTime 7.2 software required for multimedia features
    * Broadband Internet connection required for online services*

  • Having trouble installing CS4 trial

    I'm trying to install the 30-day trial on Vista Home Premium. Everytime I run Setup.exe, it goes to Checking System Profile, then pops up with "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Atari Customer Support for assistance." I have enabled the jscript.dll and even turned UAC off, and it still won't work.

    The answer lies in why in the world would Contact Atari customer Service pop up for when you are installing a Adobe product. Call Atari.
    *lol* I guess those old Falcons and STs are hard to kill. Anyway, to the matter at hand... Did you install properly as administrator? Are there any other Adobe products on the system? If so, which ones? what did you try so far? Run the CS4 Clean Script? Uninstalled conventionally? It may also help, if you can provide the install log (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers).

  • Just installed CS4 Trial and it says license expired!

    Had previously a 30 day trial of CS3 Photoshop & After effects on my Mac and just installed my 30 day trial of CS4 Master collection, I bought on DVD from Adobe, and it states for all the CS4 programes my license has expired!
    How do I resolve this?
    Kevin

    hi,
    did you ever resolve this? my after effects cs4 also says license expired. I've tried the patch downloaded from adobe but didnt work. I emailed adobe 1 month ago but still no reply.

  • Had installed cs4 trial version, then tried to enter serial number, but it was invalid and now I can't seem to reinstall the trial version as I had been using, as it comes up serial number invalid even though I am just asking for a trial basis of 30 days.

    does anyone know what to do next so I can continue to use the trial versions of cs4. It appears as I have been kicked out for good because I entered the serial number wrong. Spoke to a rep and they said this was not available to purchase online, as it is an older version, but I need the old version to use the halftone option they have on cs4. sure would appreciate some advice, thanks to anyone who might have the answer.

    If the trial version is indicating it is no longer available and you need to enter the serial number to activate it then that is the end of the trial version for that machine.  If you have another machine then that will be one way of getting the trial version running for another trial period.
