Installing CS6 on 3 Machines.

I own CS6 Creative Suite Student/Teacher edition and have an iMac at work and a personal MacBook Pro 2010. Currently CS6 is only installed on my iMac at work but I have recently purchased a new 2012 iMac for my home office. So far I have only installed CS6 on my work iMac, but ideally I'd to install this on both my home iMac and personal laptop. My understanding is that there are only 2 active installations available for each of these licenses. Is there someway that I can have CS6 on my MacBook Pro and my new iMac with this remaining installation as long as both are not running at the same time? If not, is there a way to purchase an extension to my license without repurchasing the entire suite?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can install it on as many as you'd like. You can only activate two
at a time. There is no limit (any longer) to how many times you can
deactivate one machine and activate another.

Problems installing CS6 on second machine

I was under the impression that you can install the software on 2 computers. I get an error message saying that I have a valid number but no product.

If the words "qualifying product" are part of what you read in that message, it is indicating that you are installing an upgrade version and since it cannot find an older version on the machine it is asking you to identify the older version you are upgrading from and then provide its serial number as proof that you qualify for the upgrade.

You can download, install & activate on up to two of your personal computers (e.g. a laptop and a desktop) as long as they are running the same operating system (e.g. both Macintosh or both Windows. Installing cs6 on machine with cs4 installed

I have cs4 design premium installed on my machine I want to install CS6 design and web premium trial on the same machine will it mess up my cs4 install?

No, CS6 won't do anything to your CS4. However, be aware that there may be compatibiliuty issues. E.g. if the install replaces a globally used PDF library and CS4 can't handle it, exporting to PDF may not be possible in CS4 programs. Similarly, all file associations will point to CS6 after the install, meaning double-clicking a file will open it in CS6, not Cs4 and things liek invoking Bridge from one of the programs will also use the CS6 version. finally, you may experience issues when removing CS6 and the uninstaller removes a critical global component used by CS4 because it only thinks of its own stuff. So in summary: Within the limitations it will be safe and even if you let the trial run out without making a purchase, it would be best to leave CS6 on teh machine after that to avoid complications.

How can I install CS6 on a second computer?

I need to install CS6 Basic, not extended, on a new computer. I found several different suggestions. So here's what I've done:
1 I downloaded a trial so I could register it with my CS6 basic version S/N. The trial version it downloaded was Extended, which I don't own.
2 I installed it anyway. When I tried to use my Basic S/N, it wouldn't take it. Big surprise.
3 I uninstalled the Extended trial version.
4 I copied the two installation files in my Basic subdirectory on the old computer. Then I copied them to the new computer.
5 I did the installation with the serial number, and it loaded as Extended.
6 I've searched Adobe for a downloadable version of Basic I can install, but it's nowhere to be found. All references are to Extended.
7 My old computer is an XT. The new one is Win 7 64 bit. Is that why I can't find any reference to the Basic version for my Win 7 machine?

There is only one download for Mac and one for Windows. They are Extended in trial mode and the serial number which you enter will determine whether the extended features remain enabled (Extended mode) or not (Standard mode).

Installing CS6 on Windows 7 64bit?

Hi all, I just wanted to confirm with an Adobe staff member that I should have no problems with installing CS6 Design & Web Premium on Windows 7 64bit OS (HP Core i5). We are having our computers upgraded in the office from Windows XP and our tech supplier would feel more comfortable buying the new machines if he had assurance that the software will be compatible. A few questions here:
System requirements says Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 on the back of the box, is this something he has to take special note of?
It says 3 installations are allowed. Will this new PC count as my second installation? Or can I transfer my first installation from my old PC somehow?
I'm not sure what the difference is between 32bit and 64bit. Will I be able to open my old CS files from Windows XP on Windows 7 without any problems?

1. Yes you need to install SP1 on Windows 7 as it is the tested environment for CS6 Design and Web Premium
2. Yes this PC will be counted as 2nd unless you deactivate the first. It's always recommended to deactivate the software first before upgrading the OS or installiang the software on anew computer else it will increase the activation count.
Once you deactivate the software, and install it on a new PC, the install will then be still referred as 1st installation.

3. Some software's of the Suite such as Indesign CS6 and Illustrator CS6 require 64 Bit OS and so will not run on 32 Bit PC
The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system.

Yes, just install as you normally would using the serial number you originally used.
You did not have to uninstall on the old machine - with your single user license you are allowed to have two activated installations. So feel free to reinstall it if those are the only two machine you plan to have it on and you'd like to have a backup installation.

Acrobat Pro X "quits unexpectedly" after installing CS6

Hello. I just installed CS6 and all applications are working except for Acrobat Pro X. I have already tried and retried the deactiviation/reactiviation fix that everyone is recommending, have rebooted, have reinstalled the entire Suite, and various other attempts that DID NOT WORK in my case. I use this software for my livelihood and am losing income due to this issue. It needs to be resolved immediately. I was previously running CS4, and trashed a recommended list of items to remove that version from my machine, and now I'm thinking that a required file may have been deleted accidentally during that process. I do have a backup of my entire machine, so still have those deleted files . . . can a list of files that should exist in various locations be provided so that I can try restoring them in case this is the issue? Please help. (Mac OS X 10.6.8)

This suggestion worked! It took awhile to uninstall CS6, restart, run the Cleaner Tool, restart, reinstall CS6, but Acrobat Pro X is now working. THANK YOU so much for the super speedy response and excellent suggestion. You're a lifesaver, much appreciated.

Errors when Installing CS6 10.8

HI,
When I try installing CS6 Master Collection on an 10.8.5 Machine I am receiving the below log full of error messages.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, Have also tried removing the preferences through the Adobe cc cleaner.
I have just tried renaming the colour sync profile and reinstalling but that didn't have any luck either.
User has Read/ Write permissions to the entire library folder and Applications folder.
Any suggestions?

Not sure how helpful this is, many moons later, but I was recently bloodied the same way (CS6 on 10.8.5) and found the only way to go through was to uninstall everything and run the CC Cleaner, found under #3 at

However, once you run that I found I had to run the CS6 Installer a couple of times, selectively deselecting installed apps and also customizing apps such as Photoshop and Illustrator NOT to install the recommended Font Set, etc.
Sorry to say I didn't take a screen shot to share.
Hopefully, this will assist some of the far too many who seem to have been hamstrung by the Installer. Very drastic way to drive people to CC, Adobe. ;-)

I think I already know the answer to my question, but I recently I ventured into a MAC system and have already installed CS6 extended on 2 seperate windows based machines at home , Can I install this version on my Mac also ?If not how do I set about purchasing a MAC os version from Adobe ?

There are two things working against your first diea...
1) You are only allowed to install/activate on two machines, so adding it to a third won't work without deactivating one of the others.
2) PC software versions cannot be installed on Macs, and vice versa.
If you want to purchase a new license for CS^ for a Mac you should be able to find whatever CS6 you are talking about at the page linked below...

Just installed CS6 but can't associate file type JPG with Photoshop.

I've just now installed Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4. File types PSD and TIFF work fine, but I'm completely unable to associate JPG, JPEG or any other variant with the Photoshop program such that I can double-click on the photo file and open Photoshop and the photo. I can associate JPG with either Bridge or Lightroom, or several other programs, but when I browse to Photoshop and select Photoshop.exe nothing happens, not even an error message. Does anyone have a clue what's going on here?
Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, 32-bit. There is 4GB of memory in the machine, which is a Dell Vostro 1720 laptop.

I know there is a problem with the file associations and that I need to fix them. What I don't know is how to do it. I successfully fixed the associations for file types PSD and TIFF, but I'm completely unable to do the same for type JPG. I did use Open With and that's where it just refused to allow me to change to Photoshop. It would allow me to change from the default Windows Photo Viewer to Bridge or to Lightroom, but not to Photoshop.
The problem was probably caused by my having installed CS6 prior to uninstalling CS4. Should I just reinstall CS6 right over the top of the existing CS6?
