Installing CS6 without an optical drive

I propose to purchase the Student and Teacher edition of the Adobe Design Standard CS6 Creative Suite, which I understand to be supplied as a boxed set of DVDs. How do I install it on a laptop PC that does not have a DVD drive?

  • Macbook pro retina, windows 7, how to install it without using optical drive?

    Hi,
I am thinking of buying the new macbook pro with retina display.
I do not intend to get and external optical drive.
I want to split the hard disk and install a windows 7 ultimate, which I own and have as an CD image ( ISO file ).
how can I install windows from my ISO without burning it into a CD or creating an external drive? is it possible?

Put the iso on a USB thumb drive. Then use Boot Camp Assistant to make the thumb drive bootable. Then follow the instructions in the Boot Camp Installation Guide. http://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro/bootcamp/
You should visit the Boot Camp Forum here https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • How can I install CS6 without a disk drive?

    Hi there!
I recently purchased the Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium addition.
The sales person at the store assured me that despite not having a CD drive in my Macbook Pro there would be a way to install/download the suite with the product information in the box.
So far, all I have been able to acheive is recovering my serial code. I am compeltely at a loss of how to even begin to start the install process without the a disc drive.
Is this possible or did the sales person send me down the wrong road?
    Thanks in advanced!

  • Installing CS6 without a CD Drive

    Hello,
I've purchased the CS6 suite earlier this year and am trying to install it into my second computer.
The Adobe creative cloud only offers for CC trials and takes only CC serial numbers.
Is there any way I can install my CS6 without having to purchase an external CD drive?
    Thanks for all your help.

Please download the setup again from Internet and keep a copy of it for future use.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.html
Please download both files, Navigate to the directory where you saved the installation files and double-click the .exe(file1), this would extract the installation files.
After the files finish extracting, the installer launches automatically. If it doesn’t, go to the folder that contains the extracted files. Double-click Set-up.exe to begin installation.
Follow the onscreen instructions to install
When prompted for a serial number, enter your serial number and complete the installation.
    Follow the instructions mentioned carefully.

  • How do I install Windows 8 via ISO onto a modified MBP 2010 without an optical drive?

I have a modified 2010 MBP without an optical drive. I'm trying to install Windows 8 through bootcamp by creating a USB disk, but Startup Disk does not recognize this USB. How do I install my Win 8 ISO? Thanks in advance

I can kind of help you here. First you will need to find out if your computer can install Windows 8. The following computers can install Windows 8
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (15-inch and 17-inch, Mid 2010 or newer)
MacBook Pro (13-inch and 15-inch with retina display, Mid 2012 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010 or newer)
iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011 or newer)
Your computer MUST have Boot Camp 5 running on Mac OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion or later other wise Windows 8 will not work.
If you don't have one of those computers it won't allow you to install Windows 8. You can try getting a Windows 8 install disc and an external optical drive that supports Mac OS X. I reccomend the Soniq Slim DVD-RW Drive becuase it works with almost every disc including install discs. But before trying to use an install disc with an external optical drive make sure you go into boot camp assistant and remove the partition that you made for Windows. If this didn't help you go to Apple's Boot Camp FAQ for Windows 8. The link is below.

    Hope this helped!

  • Moving to a new Mac - without an optical drive

I'm sure this would have been covered before, but I can't find anything recent.
I have got a new iMac, without an optical drive. I have CS6 Design Standard as a boxed set and I have it installed on my old iMac. I want to leave it on the old iMac but also install it on the new iMac, but how do I install it without the drive?
I have read that I can download  CS6 as a trial and then activate it with my serial number, but I'm not sure whether that is still a valid option since the Adobe's move with Creative Cloud? I'd prefer not to have to download it all again and chew through a large chunk of my monthly download allowance.
Ideally I'd prefer to be able to copy the contents of the disks that I have onto a USB drive and get it across to the new iMac that way, but I'm not sure if that is possible, or recommended.
    So, what are my options?
    TIA

    Hi Tia,
yes you can copy the contents of the disks on USB and then can install on your new iMac.
However you can also download CS 6 applications by going here : http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html
Make sure you follow all steps before downoading.

  • On the mac mini 2011 how can I run windows 7 without the optical drive, On the mac mini 2011 how can I run windows 7 without the optical drive

On the mac mini 2011 how can I run windows 7pm bootcamp without an optical drive.  I watch lots of football on sop cast and other such windows based programmes but can't work out how to do it.

Actually Windows can be installed and booted from an external drive if the drive is connected eSATA (external SATA), since the drive is treated as if it's an internal HDD. I used the same method previously to dual-boot from 2 different HDD instead of partitioning.
Most PC motherboards come with them as standard so it's pretty much plug and play but I don't recall seeing a recent Mac with eSATA connectivity though, so that might not be an option for you.

  • Loading Adobe Photoshop on my MacBook Air (2014) without an optical drive

My lab at the University already has Adobe Photoshop. I am wondering how do I download it on my new MacBook Air (2014) without an optical drive.
Another query is about the usability of photoshop on MacBook Air. Mine is a 1.4Ghz, 128gb, 8mb (RAM) MAB. I am not a heavy user of Photoshop, but I need it once in a while for improving images from experiments. These images are mostly kept in a dropbox.  I am wondering if the above specification sufficient.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank

  • Restore Snow Leopard From time Machine without an Optical drive

I have a couple of year old Macbook with a bad optical drive.
I want to pull the hard drive out of the Macbook and replace it with the original drive that came with the machine. The problem is that the original drive has OSX Leopard and I would like to get snow leopard on it. I have a good time machine backup that i could use, but i do not know how to restore the entire disk without using the OSX install DVD.
Is there anyway that i can do a time machine recovery without using the optical drive.
    Thanks.

In order to restore Snow Leopard to that drive, it will need to be formatted using Disk Utility and I can't think of a way to do that without the optical drive unless you use a different Mac or an external optical drive.

  • Installing Programs Without The Disk Drive Icon Loading On Desktop

    Hey,
I am super anal and don't like any icons on my desktop and I am wondering how, when installing programs, you can install them without the disk drive icon being left on the desktop?
    Thanks.

Oh, right, sorry, one thing I didn't mention. I DO like to have CDs and DVDs and such show up on the desktop when I (seldomly) have them in my computer.
So, is there any other way? If I uncheck the CDs and DVDs line then this solves the disk drive icon but also gets rid of my CD icons.

  • I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro, How can I install Windows 7 without an Optical Drive?

For clarity:  I have a mid 2010, Macbook Pro.  I recently decided to upgrade to a Crucial SSD drive, double the ram (8 gigs), and remove the optical drive in favor of using my old drive as a back up.  I am also currently running Yosemite.
I want to install Windows 7 onto my SSD, using bootcamp.  Unfortunately I no longer have an optical drive installed, which makes things difficult as Bootcamp does not even give me the option to create a bootable USB.
Now, this is where things get kinda fuzzy:
MId 2010 macbooks use EFI, and are quite capable of booting from USB.  How do I know?  Because I booted from a USB drive in order to do a fresh install of Yosemite on my SSD.
I have read mutliple forums and threads with claims that folks have had no problems doing this on 2008 Macbook Pros running Snow Leopard.  However, what seemed to be required was some clever .plist modding.  I have used both text wrangler, and x-code to do this, unfortunately upon booting of bootcamp, bootcamp instantly crashes.  Naturally, I can restore bootcamp because I made backups of the .plist file.
It would seem that modffying the .plist file assumes that the option to create a bootable USB device is grayed out.  In my case, it is non existent.
I have also read that folks have had success using rEFIt, however rEFIt has been forked to rEFIned, and the developer of rEFIned made mention on his site that Yosemite handles booting differently than previous versions of OSX.
WIth that, I was hoping that some kind person could explain to me whats going on, what I am missing, and what I can do to make this happen just shy of tearing down my MBP and reisntalling the Optical Drive and dusting off my Win 7 disc.
Also, my Model Number/Bootrom is MBP 6,2.
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your reply, and the information.  This is what I came up with:
I added the strings as instructed, however when I went to sign the script in terminal, I was told:
/Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app: replacing existing signature
/Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app: code object is not signed at all
    In subcomponent: /Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app/Contents/info.plist
Also, here are screen captures of the lines that I added.  Mine are the top string entries:
Thank you for your help, thus far!

  • Want to purchase new mac mini but I do not know how I would install programs from dvd without internal optical drive

I am planning to purchase new mac mini that just came out today but I do not know how I will be able to install programs or save stuff to disk when there is now internal optical drive.  I know I could purchase an external drive but is that necesary. Thanks.

If you have access to another Mac with an DVD drive you should be able to share it using Apple's drive sharing feature in the OS or at the very least if you have a firewire cable boot into firewire disk mode...

  • Boot from Disk without an optical drive

One of my clients brought me a 12" PowerBook G4 with booting issues. Through much troubleshooting I've determined that it needs an Archive & Install.
The problem is that optical drive is not functioning. (The client reports that the laptop was dropped at some point in the recent past & I suspect something is tweaked inside the drive. In any case it will not accept a disk.)
I am looking for a way to get the OS Archived & Installed without waiting until the optical drive is repaired. I do not have an external CD/DVD drive.
I have tried booting my G4 iMac from the install disk with the PowerBook attached in target mode, but that has failed.
I have tried putting the iMac in target mode with the disk in the drive and booting the PowerBook with the Option key. It did not show the Disk as a valid volume.
Any thoughts? or are we stuck until the dag-nabbed drive is fixed?
    Thanks,
    PT
PS: I have backed up the user data, at least...... <Grin>

    Never mind.....
(in my best Emily Litella voice)
I managed to borrow an external Optical drive and am currently booted from the install disk.
    Thanks anyway!

  • My drive failed and I need to install CS6 to a new drive letter

Every time I try to reinstall CS6 the installer selects the old location, which is not there and so it has zero space.
    Install fails.
Installer does not allow me to change the location.
The location of the temporary files is ok. I changed that with no problem, but after the extracting and the actual installation, the install location is unchangeable and wrong.
    how can I change it?

It seems like the installer is still picking up traces of the product that were installed earlier. Please try the following two links and suggest if that worked or not.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
"Error 1327 - Invalid Drive [drive letter here]" When Installing Acrobat, Photoshop Elements, or CS3 Suite
