Installing Developer Suite9i damages some of my .DLL files

Hi, I have installed Oracle Management Server, Eneterprise Edition, Database of general purpose like 6 months ago. Couple of days ago I installed Oracle Developer Suite 9i, it first damaged some of my files:
oci.dll
orancrypt9.dll
oransgr9.dll
orannzsbb9.dll
I got them from a friends machine who had oracle installed as well.
when I finally sucessfully installed developer suite 9i and I tried to invoke Start-->Programs-->Oracle-OraHome90-->Configuration and Migration Tools-->Database Configuration Assistant it gives me following error "The procedure entry point A_SHARadnomContextDestroy could not be located in the dynamic link library orannzsbb9.dll"
it gives me the same message if i try to invoke SQL*Plus from Enterprise Manager Console as well.
What have I done wrong when i installed developer suite, and how do I correct it?

All Oracle installation since 8i are supposed to be on different Oracle Homes. An Oracle Installation should not mess with other files, as it is completely independent from the other library files.
Could you provide further details on how did you executed the install procedure?

Here is a solution that worked for a user who also had a problem with iTunes Software Support. This thread was for a win32 version, but Maybe this is the problem for both of you?:
IT appears that AppleApplicationSupport.msi, is not opening and installing properly.
Download and SAVE iTunesSetup.exe, where you can find it.
Then:
1. Download and install WinRAR.
2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR".
3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".
4. Done! You can now run iTunes normally.

System damage from blocked system .dll file

On my Pavilion dv6, a file (mobogenie/nengenie.dll) belonging to the Windows 7 system has been blocked by the anti virus/malware programn due to malware infection of this file. That is as it should be. However, pc peformance has been decreased (resources run out after 1 hrs use, lagging) as a result. What do I do? Do I have to recover Windows 7 or have clean up of my hard disc, and how? Many thanks for any help out there for this very basic problem

I understand that there is a .dll file that is being blocked on your notebook computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure your system is not compromised, I recommend following the steps in this document on Resolving and Preventing Viruses on Your Computer (Windows 7, Vista, XP). This should help prevent any malicious software from infecting your system.
If the issue continues, I recommend performing a backup and recovery. This can be done by following this document on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7) as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7). This should help return your notebook's system back to factory defaults.

I cant install itunes, the mistake is about objc.dll file

Hi, I`ve benn trying install itunes in my PC (SO Windows XP) but the installation fail because cant find the C/Program Archives/Common archives/Apple/Applel Aplication Support/objc.dll
I´ve tried to delete the objc.dll but I cant. Please, can anyone help me? Thanks a lot.

Your operating system is fine. No need to worry about that.
it fails and says that a file the installer package needs is missing.
What's the precise text of that message, please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

I can't run itunes or install updates now due to teh MSVCR80.dll file not found and APS Daemon.exe being nable to locate a component ofn Windows vists. A MS user suggested uninstalling all Apple programs. I did this but could not uninstall the Apple Mob

Installing Developer 10G on Windows Vista

Hi, sorry for posting this here but I wasn't sure whereelse to put it. Anyway, has anyone been able to install the Developer suite on a Windows Vista machine? I've tried using XP compatibility mode but the command line launcher keeps telling me that it can't install on O/S version 6. I've got the latest version of the Developer suite and can't seem to find any patches. Anyone got any ideas?

Hmm, sorry didn't notice the Installation forum as I was looking at the Developer forums only. Still, I've got it all working including running the forms in IE7.
I did as you said, set the pagefile to manual setting and put something similar to what the system recommended. I ran the Developer suite setup.exe file in compatibility mode and checked the run as administrator option. I then found that Firefox would run the form I created but IE wouldn't. I installed the latest Java (1.6) from the Sun site and then copied/pasted the jvm.dll file from the new install to Program Files\Oracle\Jinitiator 1.3.1.22\bin\hotspot after renaming the original jvm.dll file so's I didn't lose it. Anyway, everything seems to work now and I'm posting this message to orafaq.com where I also put a request for help.

I have windows 8, 64 bit. I am trying to install ITunes 64 bit installer, but keep getting an error message that says a .DLL file is missing. How can I fix this?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Installing Developer 6.0 on a network

Hello,
I am new here. I have inherited the unenviable task of upgrading Oracle Developer 6.0 runtime software to a network already running Developer 4.5 and 5.0. What is the best way to perform this task?
Do I have to know all the DLL files copied to the local machine? How do I upgrade the registry? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

From what I know you cannot install Personal Oracle and Developer on the same Oracle Home.
The Installaztion sequence is:
1.st) install Developer on the Default Oracle Home
2.nd) install Personal Oracle, specifying a different Oracle Home (say "PO_OH")
After the installations, in order to have a connection from Developer to Oracle Database,
you have to specify a Database alias, using Sql Net Easy configuration, say:
database alias : mydb
protocol : tcp/ip
host name : 127.0.0.1
database inst. : orcl
Finally you can try the connection, specifying as Database "mydb".
If you don't want to specify neither mydb, you can put this string in the register:
a) run regedit
b) click Hkey_Local_Machine - software - Oracle
c) if you don't have a string local, add it (click on modify-new-string e specify 'local') and give it the value "mydb".
In my pc it works fine.

Adobe Reader X Install Leaves Some Reader 9.0 Files Installed

I just installed Reader X on a Win7 machine, and find that the Reader X install left
some Reader 9.0 files still lurking about in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 9.0\
folder (273 files in 9 folders for about 49.7 MB according to Properties).
Is it OK to just delete all this cruft, or might Reader X actually access/use some of
these files?

Can you download Adobe Reader X from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.0.0/en_US/AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi
Once you have downloaded the installer, run the following command on the command prompt:
msiexec /i <path to AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi> /l*v "C:\ReaderX.log" /qb
For example if your msi file is in C:\Test then type: msiexec /i "C:\Test\AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi" /l*v "C:\ReaderX.log" /qb
If the installer fails then please post the file "C:\ReaderX.log" here.
Also ensure that your shdocvw.dll is located at "C:\Windows\System32" folder.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

How to install Developer in Linux.

Hi,
I am trying to install Developer on Redhat Linux 7.1. During the installation it asks for the directory where the Motif directory where the libXm.a file is present. But there is no such file in the Motif directory or anywhere else.
However there are certain files starting with libXmu.
Can someone guide me on how to go about it ?

I have the exact same issue. Apparently Motif is not packaged with Redhat and or not installed. Search for PRashanth Machaiah and look at a query I posted about a week or so ago. Some very nice person wrote out exact instructions on how to get it going. I am going to try it today.

Unable to install Developer 2000 on Windows 98

Hello Everybody
I tried to install Developer 2000 along with Oracle 8 on My Windows 98 PC. The problem was that I was able to install only one of them at once. When either one of them was installed, installation of the other gave some error, which had something to do with Oracle Homes. Although when one of my friends tried to install both on Windows NT, the installation was successful and it is working properly.
Kindly suggest the proper solution as I do not plan to shift to Windows NT.

Justin I am also facing the same problem. Although I could install both of them but I am not able to connect with the database through forms, reports or anything else.
Do I have to give something in HOST at the Login screen. Earlier I used to give nothing as I am running a local database on win 98.
Please advice.

But I know database server 10g R2 is supported on RHES 5
eg if you have account to my oracle support look for\

so if you check 10g Dev suite RHES 4 documentation try to find similar packages for RHES 5 and it may work...

I am having problems preparing an installation of Crystal Reports XI Pro in a Sanctuary Application Controlled environment where the unique file hashes of DLLs and EXEs need to be recorded and pre-authorised before they can execute. This is because when Crystal Reports XI Pro installs it changes the content of a large number of dlls (for examples chartui.dll and CEReportSource.dll) which all have new file create and modify dates. Hence the file hashes of a previous installation which are authorised for use are different and the application fails to run.Are these changes necessary? It is quite rare to see any application change files this way (sometimes except for licensing reasons).Is there anyway of customising the install to stop the files from changing on install?Will it be safe to overwrite files that are installed with previously installed files (which have been authorised?) The closest to a solution I came up with was to try installing Crystal Reports XI from the cds. When the error occurs click to ignore the error and proceed with the install. After the install is finished, the installer will check for updates which gives a link to Crystal Reports XI Release 2 Service pack 4. This is a complete install file of around 1.7 GB in size. Using this install removes the old Crystal Reports XI Release 1 which is where this issue springs from, and installs Release 2 with no errors. Dll versions will change from 11 to 11_5 and the Crystal Viewer will have updated features, like their calendar no longer loads externally within a small internet explorer window, but rather it loads an internal calendar control. After you have installed the updated install file that is the Release 2 version, you can go to this link and install the Service Pack 5 update that Business Objects came out with.
