Installing development tools like gcc

hello everybody,
i'm a linux user. i installed solaris 10 using the dvd (i need real time for threads).
1- i was surprised, it's the first time that my lan card r8169 gigabit wad not reconized. how can i intall it ?
2- how can i install gcc without downloading him. using a repository, like an apt-get ...
i saw pkgadd, but when i type pkgadd gcc i have an error. it's tell me that's not a valid package name.
i only have the dvd of install.
3- is there another free dvd for developpers ? (gcc and some others but not java).
than

The PATH variable for each user is searched for binaries.
A good start would be
PATH=/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/opt/sfw/bin:/usr/sadm/admin/bin ; export PATH
To locate installed binaries which are not
on your current PATH, grep /var/sadm/install/contents.
For example (Note the space between gcc and the closing quote):
grep 'gcc ' /var/sadm/install/contents | less

  • Install developer tools after Leopard installed

I did a clean install from Panther and thought I selected all necessary tools for compiling C pgms.
I don't seem to have Xcode. I assume this is part of developer tools. How do I install developer tools
    from installation disk? Thanks

    Hi gg318!
Just put in your Leopard Installer DVD: Click on the map for Optional installs. There you will find an Optional Installer and a map containing the installer for Xcode Tools.

  • Installing development tools

I went through the process of installing the development tools package from the Install CD last night, but don't really see anything different in my programs list. Should something extra have been installed there, or did this just install the gcc, gdb stuff at the OS level and no real GUI applications get installed?
Anyone recommend any good books on learning to develop software for the Mac?
    Thanks,
    glenn

The developer tools are installed in the /Developer folder. To learn about Mac programming, go to the Software Development 101 forum.

  • How to install Developer Tools via command line

    Hello,
is there a way, to install the Developer Tool via Command line?
I need only the unix tools.
I have to install the unix tools over a ssh connection.
Thanks in advance and best regards

I followed the link you gave.  The only download I saw was for Xcode 4, and they either wanted $5 to purchase it from the app store or a 1 year mac developer license thing which was $100.

  • J2SDK 1.4.1 Install on Win2K does not install Development Tools

I've tried installing, re-installing, removing and installing the JDK 1.4.1 and it WILL NOT install the GUI development tools. Any hints or clues as to how to fix this?

JDK1.4.1 does not include runide.exe. This executable file is from the Netbeans for Windows installation. As a teacher of Java at a university (part-time), I strongly recommend that you learn the fundamentals of Java before learning to use an IDE such as Netbens.
JDK1.4.1 does not install GUI development tools ? no it will not install an IDE, but it will install everything you need to create a graphical interface.
Please don't be sucked into ignoring the fact that learning Java with an IDE is only "bad" according to opinion. I can assure you that in my experience, it is becoming more and more factual.
Also, don't believe that you have enough experience with Java to begin using an IDE. You previous statements suggest that you have a lot more learning to do. No attempts to attack ability, just trying to help.
At the end of the day, it's up to you. I strongly recommend to start up your command shell and a decent text editor and start playing with swing.
    Good luck !

  • Installing Developer Tools

Unix in a Nutshell, 4th Edition (2005) says this:
    "1.2.3. Mac OS X
Unix-style development tools (compiler, make) are included as part of the larger Xcode Tools package . Boxed distributions of Mac OS X include an Xcode Tools CD. The easiest way to install the tools is to insert that CD into your CD drive.
If your version of Mac OS X is that which came with your hardware, you won't have an Xcode Tools CD. Instead, click on Developer.mpkg in /Applications/Installers/Developer Tools. Doing so installs the development tools."
My OS X (10.6.6) came with my hardware but I don't have any Installers directory. Is there somewhere else I can install these tools? Also, is there something better for me to be reading than Unix in a Nutshell?

Thanks, guys. I loaded Xcode from my Mac OS X Install DVD. In case someone else wants to do this just follow the steps here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3415 except in step 4 click on Xcode.mpkg rather than Optional Installs.
And I am now a registered Mac developer.

  • How to install the development tools?

I want to know how to install the development tools like g++, make, etc... I just bought a macbook and seems the development tools don't come with Mac OS X.

    Hi--
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
They're on the first of your install/restore discs. I don't have mine in front of me, so I'm kind of winging it, but look for either Developer Tools or Xcode Tools on that disc. If you can't find the installer, post back and I'll dig up my MBP's disc and see where it is on there...
If you have a good internet connection, you can also sign up for the free ADC Online membership and download the tools there. But it's a monster of a download: almost 1GB.

  • XE work with Developer tools for VS 2005? - Create package problem

I just installed Developer tools 11.1.0.6.10 Beta. When I try to create a package, the wizard create an empty body checkbox is on by default. When you choose "Edit Body," when you try to modify the dummy code and save, a message saying "Cannot create other database schema object from this window. Please use the appropriate dialogue ..." When you cancel, the body disappears from the Server Explorer.
If this is not the appropriate one, what is? (Also CREATE OR REPLACE is missing from the generated code)
I've created both spec and body from Toad and had it compile correctly, but the Server Explorer shows the body as invalid. If you try to edit, it just repeats the problem above. (There may be some connection to the issue of a different ORA home, because the Toad freeware version says it does not support OraOdac11g_home1 that shows up in the Toad Connect Using" dialog. I think I got the XE install and Tools correct - I copied my TNSNames etc from XE into the apps////blah directory, and Server Explorer connects.

Forgot. When I tried to view the stored procedure inside oracle express, nothing appeared in either the package spec or body. This is the case in installs on 2 different computers.

  • Trouble installing xcode developement tools....

I downloaded the iphone SDK package to develop iphone apps. In that package there are approximately 20 packages that i am assuming you download to have full functionality to create apps. When I try to download the development tools package I get a message that reads "You have selected a custom install location that exist but not empty. Please make sure that the specified directory is empty or choose another location and retry your install." Have anyone experienced this?

alas, after contemplating the error for 3 more seconds (as i should have before posting), it seems it requires a totally empty folder... my assumption was that it would make a new folder in the root of my external... it seems it does not, and requires you to make an empty folder. perhaps this is a safeguard to prevent wannabe's like myself from installing professional developer tools.

  • Web Developer Tools option must be installed

    Hello Experts,
I have been working with Visual Studio Ultimate 2013. Today when I tried to open a solution, it tried to convert the solution and showed me error like
"The Web Developer Tools option must be installed prior to opening or creating Web projects. You can install this option by repairing your Microsoft Visual Studio installation and ensuring that 'Web Developer Tools' is checked in the list of optional
    components."
I goggled about this and tried to Modify the Visual Studio 2013 ultimate by enabling the Web Developer Tool. But here I am getting the other error like
    Unable to Locate Package Source.
What should I do now?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi vdha,
Will the issue reproduced when you create a new simple web project?
Actually based on your error message "Unable to Locate Package Source", I recommend you download a new copy of VS2013 Ultimate ISO and use it to repair or install that component.  Please remember that the ISO should match the hash, you
    need to check this page
https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downloads/visual-studio-2013-iso-sha1-vs for details about how to verify your ISO hash.
    Best regards,
    Barry

    Hi,
The newest and default version of Eclipse is Galileo which is version 3.5.x
According to the Widget development guide, widget developer tool covers Eclipse 3.3.x (Europa) and 3.4.x  (Galileo).
The problem is solved by downloading one of those versions from http://wiki.eclipse.org/Older_Versions_Of_Eclipse and installing widget development tools.

    Hi All,
    I have downloaded Eclipse: eclipse-SDK-3.3.2-win32.zip from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.3.2-200802211800/eclipse-SDK-3.3.2-win32.zip

for Installing and Starting SAP Widget Development Tools as an Eclipse Plug-in
I am very new to it, So I was following Step by Step procedure.
On the 16th step I am getting an error:
AP Widget Templates (0.12.0.1167) requires feature "org.eclipse.gef (3.3.0)", or equivalent.
I had download the SAP Widget Development Tools.zip file from https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloads?rid=/webcontent/uuid/b03b6544-c741-2a10-8999-ed04eb2b2c71
While unzipping the eclipse-SDK-3.3.2-win32.zip, there were two errors:
The System cannot find the file specified &
The file name or extension is too long.
I ignored them and continued the unzipping.
Please guide me as to how we can solve this error.

Is it because I am using Eclipse 3.3.2 and not 3.3.0? If yes from where I can download Eclipse 3.3.0
Edited by: ankur malhotra on Jul 25, 2008 7:36 AM

    Hi Ankur,
This happens sometimes because of the Eclipse that you use. Download the Eclipse JEE Version. When you go to eclipse.org and try to download eclipse you can do a comparision of the versions there, You download the version which supports all the web features.
    http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-ide-java-ee-developers/ganymeder
Check the above link you will be able to see the package details. Please download this Java IDE for EE developers and try installing the SAP widgets foundation then, If you are facing any problems in installing the plugins thru local archived site please let me know.
    Regards,
    Sai
