Installing different versions of RoboHelp

Hi,
For some reason, I have to work with 9.2 and X5 at the same
time. Is it possible to install two different versions on the same
Windows system? If there is any way to use those versions on the
same system, please let me know...

Hi all
I don't believe this is outlined in my tips file. However,
I've done it for years. I suppose it's easiest if you install 9.2
first, then install X5. Just make sure to install each to a
different folder. For example, RoboHelp may suggest installing to:
C:\Program Files\RoboHelp Office
So amend that by specifying something like:
C:\Program Files\RoboHelp Office 92
Then install X5 in the following location:
C:\Program Files\RoboHelp Office X5

Hi all,
I have to install different versions of the product in the same machine (Site Studio Designer 7.7 (currently installed) and Site Studio Designer 10g).
When I am trying to install 10g version, I get a message to delete the previous version, and I can not install.
I have seen that there are ways to run different versions already installed on your PC (running scripts pointing to the dll files for each version), but can not find anything on the previous step to install them.
Can anyone help me?

In case anyone has the same error, I've got a possible solution.
I have changed the directory name of the Stellent Site Studio Designer 7.7. I tried to install de new version (10gR3), and I clicked 'Yes' to uninstall the previous version.
The new installation was successfully.
The, I had created a script to register their separate DLLs before launching. So you'll need to create a batch file for each Designer and put the following:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SSHelp.dll"
C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SSHtmlTidy.dll"
C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SSLoggerEngine.dll"
C:\WINDOWS\system32\REGSVR32 /s "C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SSWebBrowserEx.dll"
"C:\Archivos de programa\Stellent Site Studio\Designer\7.7\SiteStudioDesigner.exe"

Install different versions of Photoshop

This is my question (sorry for my english)
I have photoshop 7 and pothoshop CS3; can I install them both on my Computer ? (on the same hard disk, maybe in differnt directories)
This because I want to move slowly to CS3, but now I know better photoshop 7.
I want to know, if this cause problems..

I have 5 different versions of Photoshop on the same hard drive (all legal, bought and paid for, except for version 1.0.7, which I nicked from the undernet just for purposes of nostalgic interest), if that tells you anything.

Installing different versions of Oracle on the same server

We have a client that is currently on Oracle version 9.2.0.3. There is a project beginning that will have them upgrading to either 10g or 11g(still tbd). The project will have this happening in different steps. Therefore, we will need to continue to have the 9.2.03 db up and available while certain accounts are being migrated to the newer version.
Question is - can you install 2 versions of Oracle on the same server without any issues?
Or would we be better off purchasing a separate server to install 10g or 11g.

Depending on the OS certification you should be able to run both. You'll probably have to patch up the OS though. One of my servers has 3 different Oracle homes (9.2.0.5 - 10.2.0.2).
You can check the certification by clicking on the certify tab in metalink.

Installing Different Versions of CS4

Hi,
We have brought different versions of CS4 for different purposes ie design standard, design premium etc, the installers are now taking 20GB+. Is it possible to have a folder with every product (5GB) and deploy different versions.

I do not think it would be easy to do this. It would be better to just
burn each onto its own DVD or purchase a portable hard drive. 30 GB
drive is cheap these days or even a few large USB sticks would do the
trick. Personally, I like the idea of burning a few DVDs, I like having
external backup of expensive software.

Is there any document about how to install different versions of MDM GUI clients on same Machine.
we have different version of MDM server in Sandbox and Developement environment. I know we can install different versions of GUI Clients by specifying different locations. But i am looking for some standard document / SAP note. Please if anyone has this information, it will be very helpful.

5.1 Maintaining Multiple Versions of MDM it tells that you can install multiple versions of MDM 5.5 on one host and switch between the versions.This may be useful, for example, when updating the patch level.

Robohelp - TFS Mapping issue for different versions

Hi,
I'm using Adobe Robohelp 9 with Team Foundation Server 2012 on Windows 7 - 64 bit. I've also installed Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2012 MSSCCI Provider. I've mapped all the project folders on my machine. We create HTML help (.chm) for our application.
I have different versions for each module of our entire product on Team Foundation Server 2012 (As we have multiple modules in our product), for example x+1, x+2, x+3 and so on.
Each module has different Robohelp projects for every version/branch. This means, if the Online help for any module from any version is changed, we update it in the respective version of the Online help project.
When we move on to the next version, due to binary files, the next version contains the same path and properties of previous version. We need to have different project for single module for the next version. For this, I have changed the TFS project path of every .xpj project for every version. For example, if I'm working on version x+2, then I've changed the TFS project path from x+1 to x+2 manually on x+2 version/branch and then started working on it.
As these Robohelp projects (for each module) are mapped to my local folder on C drive, it shows a single workspace mapped with same path on my machine. This should be the ideal condition for my all projects as follows:
But sometimes when I try to update any file from version x+2 and then check-in my changes, the changes are getting checked-in to the previous version, i.e. x+1. And if I see the workspace of the x+1 version, it shows one more wrong workspace added below the correct one. This new workspace contains the Source control folder path of x+1 version and the Local folder path of x+2 version. That means, my robohelp project folder of x+2 version from my local drive is getting mapped to TFS folder of version x+1. That is why all the changes done in Robohelp project files from x+2 version are going in to x+1 version.
The strange here is when I try to check-in my changes in x+2, it shows the correct path of x+2 version. But they all go to x+1 version, which should not happen.
If anyone can help me in this problem, it would be a great help!

So, if I understand correctly, you create a duplicate of the project and
check that in on a different location in TFS. That is the way to go.
My guess is that the XPJ still references the old version's path. Try
checking out the XPJ with TFS and open in with notepad. Search for
'vc::cookie'. Check that the path there points to the correct path of
the project in TFS. It probably still references the old path and so
RoboHelp will check it in at the old path.

But while installing what preliminary precautions I willl have to take so that it won't disturbed other running database.

I would think as long as you set up separate staging areas for the two different versions that there should be no conflict. As always though - make sure you have good backups - maybe two.

Usually you can install Firefox 3.6 over Firefox 5 without uninstalling. (Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended.)
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 5.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. ''If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program, unless you want to start clean with no bookmarks or personal customizations.''
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

The application was installed 2 days prior and works fine but the patch will not install.

Yes let's see if there is any error occurs in installation log.
Meanwhile from the error message, the possible cause is that a part of the application is missing such as a registry key with app version. In this situation you can first test to reinstall/repair the application though it is still working fine - see if issue
persists after reinstall the app.
Meanwhile you could also contact Citrix about this issue. It may be a common issue and Citrix may provide a quick fix for it.

Different versions of Java got installed, only want 1

Hi folks,
I have a new iMac, running OS X v10.9.1.
I downloaded and installed the Mac version of the latest Eclipse IDE.
When i tried to run it the first time, it said it needed to also install Java v 1.6.
This isn't the latest Java version but I wanted to get the IDE installed up and running to quickly test out a Java program.
So I said OK, it installed Java version 1.6.
I went to a Terminal prompt, entered "java -version" and got the expected result of "1.6.0_65".
I brought up Eclipse, imported a Java project, it correctly recognized the JRE System Library [JavaSE-1.6], and the program ran successfully.
All good so far, right ?
Not really.
The latest version of Java is up to 1.7.0_45.
I want that version.
I brought up Safari, went to the Java test page, tried to run it, it said i didn't have the latest Java plug-in, directed me to the download site, i downloaded and installed it, re-ran the Java test page and it indicated that I now had Java version 1.7.0_45 installed.
I should be happy cuz this is what I want.
However, i opened a new Terminal and re-ran "java -version", it still thinks I have v1.6.0_65.
Similarly, my Eclipse IDE can only find the JavaSE-1.6.
I still have to do Java development and would prefer to do all my development on my iMac, eventually getting rid of my Windows machines.
How do i get rid of the Java 1.6 version and make OS X recognize the Java v1.7.0_45 version that the Safari browser recognizes ?

Safari is already doing that, as you can see here: Verify Java Version
The Oracle JRE is a web plugin only. The Apple JRE is for standalone Java apps. The two don't overlap in function. If you want to develop in Java 1.7, install the Oracle JDK.

Trying to update iTunes, the installer keeps freezing at 'Running iTunes Installer Scripts'. i've tried several different versions of iTunes and can't install any of them. I'm stuck with Version 4!! Help!

Ok, First this link should solve the windows scripting host error. I used "Download windows script host" in a google search and it was the first hyperlink.

I'm assuming you are trying to run the installer from apple. What I would suggest is you download the installer manually to your desktop then launch the installer. If try to run the installer over the intertubes you may run into a problem like you did.
Then I would uninstall itunes 8 and any software associated with it like the apple update software, quicktime, apple mobile device support. However uninstalling itunes should remove any additional software it installs. Then clean out your temp folder:

a. C:\windows\temp (if one exists)
b. C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp
Sometimes installers will pick up old files or won’t delete their temporary files.
Then with a newly download installer on your desktop try launching it. Let me know if that helps.

Do a custom install and install each version in its own program folder to use multiple Firefox versions.

Activating a trial version of RoboHelp

I'm using a trial version of RoboHelp and have created the
max number of pages. I would now like to purchase RoboHelp, but I
don't know if my work will be maintained. Do I simply need to copy
the folder over to the new install.
I did read that I must uninstall the trial before installing
the full version. Does anyone have some suggestions?

Good to hear of another 'RoboTrialler' becoming a real
'RoboHelper'! It really is a fabulous product.
If you have created your project within the actual RoboHELP
directories, you will need to copy the entire project directory to
a different location. When you uninstall, most of the RoboHELP
directories (if not all) will go, so you would most likely loose
your project.
I always create my project directories in their own
independant directory.
