Installing EBS on a personal laptop

I want to install either Release 12, 11.5.10 or both onto my personal laptop so that I can play around with the configuration and Oracle's standard 'Vision' data as part of my certification preparation. I'm a functional consultant and have no database experience so am looking for a few tips on how to go about this.
I understand I need to install a series of disks in the correct order but are there any other general guidelines? Can anyone also let me know what the minimum laptop spec needs to be to get a decent level of performance? I have been told I need a around 3GB memory (but if I can get away with less let me know), and around 250GB of free disk space, which I plan to tackle by getting an external hard drive. I also plan to use Windows XP.

Core 2 Duo processor 1.73 GHz.
1 GB RAM
160 GB HDD
DVD writer
Price is around 40500/-
One thing i would like to suggest u, install the version 4.6, don't go for 4.7 as it has some problems. The installation may fail as it s a tedious process. Also an expert would do the installation.
Further SAP requires 80 GB space. So better u take a 160 GB m/C for better performance and 1GB ram.

Even though Windows XP Professional is not supported, but you can manage to install R12 on it.

Never having heard of it, I looked it up and it seems to be some sort of network server software used in business environments. Problem is, I do not use my MacBook Pro in any sort of business/office environment; it's just a personal laptop, used only in my home. I also did not download or install any Open Directory software myself, although the last time I reinstalled Mountain Lion (using OS X Recovery), it showed up as being installed (automatically, as part of the installer package) in the log.
Here's some more information I found, using the 'odutil show all' command in Terminal. I have no idea what it means, except it seems to indicate that Open Directory is indeed running on my laptop. The process opendirectoryd is also running in Activity Monitor. I printed out some information from using 'odutil show cache' in Terminal as well, but I'm not sure if it contains information that could compromise my laptop...
Anyone have any idea what could be going on? Also, I'm not sure if I posted this in the right category - I might repost this in the Server category later if there's no response here...

Yes, you can practice SAP ABAP in your Laptop and your laptop configuration is well suitable. But windows 7 home doesnt support it. You can download windows server 2008 or 2003 or xp and use it in Oracle virtual Box and install it.

is not correct, I see big colored bars and the text are so big. How do you resolve this?
I my installer not compatible with virtual pc 2007? is there different linux version made for the virtual pc?
Can you help me find docs on those who have successfully installed EBS on virtual pc?
Is ubuntu linux also supported by EBS R12? I see some sample install but Im not sure if this is ordinary/normal

Sometimes, Rapid Install failed to complete the post check and you will have to start the application services manually and click on the retry button to finish the installation.

However, I would recommend you go with a software which was test before (I did manage to install Oracle Apps 11i/R12 on RHEL/OEL 4 and 5 running on VMWare with no issues).

i guess.It is not supported. I have also seen couple of documents covering the installation steps on this OS, but I am not going to say it would work.
I would suggest you go with a certified Linux OS on VMware, and see if it works. Or, mention more details about your previous installation so we may try to fix it.

I am using laptop which contains windows 7. I think we cann`t install EBS 11i on windows 7.
I have read, we can intall via Virtual m/c with supported OS on windows 7. Windows 7 has come with
vrtual pc which work similer to XP known as XP mode.
Can some one let me know, am i able to intall EBS 11i in XP mode functionality which comes with windows 7.

Lightroom 5 - Re-installing existing licence to new laptop

I recently had an accident with my laptop. It is now dead. I want to re-install Lightroom 5 which I purchased as a download, I have the licence number. I have attempted downloading via free trial, as per forum suggestions but this forced me to download Creative Cloud and would not accept my licence number, says it is not applicable that I already have it. My understanding is that you can install the program onto two computers, as long as they both belong to the same person. I have spent a couple of hours fiddling around and am getting frustrated, can someone offer some advise please. thanks in advance

This seems to be a fairly frequent problem, it seems to be hard to find the non-CC version for download and the CC version won't work with a non CC license key.
So, here's what I believe you need to do:
Uninstall the CC version you've downloaded and installed.
Go to here http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html
That should take you to the country-specific download page. I know it says updates but if you click on the Windows or Mac version of LR it's actually the whole program
Download and follow the instructions for installation and then enter your serial number when asked to.
Stand-alone LR does not need de-activating, you can install it on your new laptop with the old number without any problems. I've done it myself in the past as I've moved on to newer PCs. CC and pre-CC Photoshop does need de-activation but not non CC LR.

The window titled « Install Oracle Applications - Welcome » is displayed but empty;
I Click [ X ] at the top right corner;
The windows titled « Oracle Applications Rapid Install Wizard Alert » is displayed, asking « Are you sure you want to exit ? » I say [ Yes ];
On the Terminal, I press Ctrl C.
I choose Ubuntu that is easy to use. I tried and abandoned Oracle EL5 and Solaris.
