Installing ECC6 EHP4 ready - Oracle Client extraction

Hi,
I am installing an  ECC6 EHP4 ready system.
Our server has multuple systems running on the server with Oracle Database and oracle client is already available.
During instalation, sapinst always tries to extract Oracle client and we dont want this, so we always rename the OCL10264.SAR file to OCL10264.SAR.OLD or something like that and the sapinst step fails.
Then we just modify the keydb.xml file and make the step - OK.
I dont see this option now with ECC6+EHP4 installation.
The Keydb.xml looks different too.
Does anyone know how I can ignore this step and continue with this new release?
Even though I see a lot of improvements in SAPINST with the new release, it would be bad if this step or any other step cannot be ignored anymore.
Please suggest
Suhail

Problem solved....during the initial stages of the installation while it gathers all information, it checks and makes sure that the client software is available but doesnt extract it....i made it available and the installation went ahead....it extract it later before the database installation and at that time I removed it and when the installation failed, I was able to modify the keydb.xml file.

  • ECC6 EHP4 Ready NetWeaver 701, XML file

    HI Guys, I just finished installing ERP6.0 Netweaver EHP1 on HPUX and Oracle 10 g database. I want to upgrade the EHP4 components and my problem is Solution Manager is 4.0.
    I am sure you have seen this tread many times, please ignore my ignorance, I am just lost reading so many treads in this regards.
    How do I generate the XML file needed for EHP4 on solman 4.0?
    Regards and many thanks.

    Hi,
    > 1. One thing that I did, I did not include IS-oil and IS_UT stacks. Would this cause any issue?
    What ever package you want to upgrade in your system should be included in the xml file.
    > 2. EHP installer is not able to connect to solman to fetch the xml file. I have to move the file to another directory. Should it be >EPS/in or any other directory like /tmp will work?
    This file should present in download directory which you have defined.
    > 3. Since I have installed EHP4 ready system, can I use sapinst to install the EHP4? I do not find ehp installer friendly at all?
    >
    There is no way in sapinst that you can upgrade your existing system. You have to use ehpi tool only to upgrade add-on's. This tool is very good if you have read the upgrade book carefully.

    Oracle has release Project Connect 3.0 which is WEB based application. You don't need a client installation.
    This product is compatible with Oracle Projects Family Pack I and J, and with Microsoft Project 2000 and 2002.

  • Where to running SQL Scripts after install of ODAC for Oracle Client?

    I just installed ODAC for Oracle Client on a windows server, that runs a sql server database, for developers to connect a web app to an Oracle/Unix database. The install states to run SQL scripts located in the $ORACLE_HOME\ASP.NET\SQL directory after the install. I'm not sure where to run them? On the ORACLE DB on the Unix server? If someone could bring me up to speed I would appreciate it. Thanks.

    If I do run the scripts, do you know what user they should be run as? The developer are using ASP.NET for connectivity.
    Why there is no Oracle Expert answer this simple question? ?
    After ODAC 11.1.0.7.20 installation completed, there is a message in the last screen:
    *"Run the SQL script located in c:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\client_1\ASP.NET\SQL directory for a new installation or an upgrade of Oracle Providers for ASP.NET"*
    The question is: How to run these 9 SQL scripts ?
    In SQL*Plus, which oracle user should I connect to in order to run these 9 scrips, including:
    InstallAllOracleASPNETProviders.sql
    InstallOracleASPNETCommon.sql
    InstallOracleMembership.sql
    InstallOraclePersonalization.sql
    InstallOracleProfile.sql
    InstallOracleRoles.sql

  • Can we install oracle client 32 bit on Linux 64 bit

    Can we install the 32 bit applications like the oracle client on to a database server 64 bit and linux os 64 bit ?

    This question is two parts which I paraphrase as per my understanding; please correct me if I'm wrong:
    1) Can you install 32-bit applications (like the oracle client) on to a 64-bit Linux OS?
    Quick and correct answer is: Yes. Most distributions will include 32-bit libraries along with 64-bit libraries for just this purpose.
    2) Can a 32-bit Oracle Client "connect" to a 64-bit Oracle Database server?
    Yes.
    So ultimately, you could install 64-bit Oracle Database on a 64-bit Linux OS, and then continue by installing the 32-bit Oracle Client on the same host (although I see no real reason for this), and then finally use the 32-bit Oracle Client to connect to the 64-bit instance running on the same host.
    Hope this is helpful!

    hi friends ,
    My report Fetch from the orcle database , we installed Oracle 10g and 11g - clent 32 -bit on win 2k8 -64 bit machine .while design time runing fine,but ofter depolyement im facing below issue.

      Any help is greatly appreciated, I have tried couple of solutions going through some threads online but no use and place dt tell install 1og r 11g 64-bit

    Hi,
    Based on the error message, we should confirm whether Oracle client tool has been installed on the Report Server at the beginning. If the Report Server installed is 64-bit, we should also install a 64-bit Oracle client tool on the Report Server. Besides, we
    can also try to bypass tnsnames.ora file when connecting to Oracle by specifying all the information in the data source instead of using the TNS alias to connect
    to the Oracle database. Please see the sample below:
    Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=(CID=GTU_APP)(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= server01.mydomain.com)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=OracleDB)(SERVER=DEDICATED)));

    Hope this helps.

  • Installation of Oracle Client 32 bit on Windows 64 bit

    Hi ,
    I'm trying to install the 32 bit Oracle client (release 11.2.0) on a Windows server with 64 bit (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Service Pack 1).
    It's my understanding that this is supported and should work. However, the 64 bit Oracle client (release 11.2.0) is already installed on the server.
    We need the 32 bit client since an older application requires this.
    The GUI for the install of the client starts fine - but when the step "Finish installation" the GUI suddenly disappeares. The logfile of the installation ends
    with

    Did I get it wrong that ths 32 bit client is certified with this windows version? Does anybody have experience with the same situation?

  • 32 Bit Oracle Client Libraries on a 64 Bit Machine

    Hello,
    I own a 32 bit application that is running on a 64 bit linux machine currently only installed with 64 bit oracle client libraries. I requested the administrator install the 32 bit client libraries so that my application can function and they tell me that it is not possible. They cited a Meta-Link article that I do not seem to have access to, but this doesn't seem right. Has anyone else ever installed 32 bit compatible client libraries on a 64 bit machine. Thanks

    On Linux (and this is only on Linux, not on Solaris and AIX !) if the OS is 64bit, only 64 bit Oracle is supported.
    Check the Certify pages for Linux x86-64. This is in the critical notes :
    "Linux x86-64, support on AMD64/EM64T and Intel Processor Chips that adhere to the x86-64 architecture with supported Linux releases. *Running Oracle 32-bit on AMD64/EM64T (64-bit OS) is not supported .*
    Oracle 32-bit running on AMD64/EM64T with a 32-bit OS is supported, refer to platform Linux x86 for more information on product availability. "

  • Oracle Client x86 on Windows 7 x64

    Buenas,
    Traslate Google:
    Good,
    I had no problems installing the 64-bit Oracle Client on my Windows 7, but when setting up the SQL PL Development came to me a mistake, as is PLSQL Oracle Client 32bit and 64 did not detect the ORACLE_HOME x thus not oci.dll .
    The solution would be to install a 32bit Oracle Client on Windows, but when I install I get the following errors:
    - Incompatible with the operating system.
    - Oracle Configuration Wizard.
    That is the installation terminates with errors.
    Any solution for this.

    Solucion:
    Editar C:\client\stage\prereq\client\refhost.xml
    Y agregar:
    <CERTIFIED_SYSTEMS>
    <OPERATING_SYSTEM>
    <! - Microsoft Windows 2000 ->
    <version VALUE="5.0"/>
    <SERVICE_PACK Value="1"/>
    </ OPERATING_SYSTEM>
    <OPERATING_SYSTEM>
    <! - Microsoft Windows XP ->
    <version VALUE="5.1"/>
    <SERVICE_PACK Value="1"/>
    </ OPERATING_SYSTEM>
    <OPERATING_SYSTEM>
    <! - Microsoft Windows 2003 ->
    <version VALUE="5.2"/>
    </ OPERATING_SYSTEMO>
    <! - Microsoft Windows Vista ->
    <OPERATING_SYSTEM>
    <version VALUE="6.0"/>
    </ OPERATING_SYSTEM>
    *<! - Microsoft Windows 7 ->*
    *<OPERATING_SYSTEM>*
    *<version VALUE="6.1"/>*
    *</ OPERATING_SYSTEM>*
    </ CERTIFIED_SYSTEMS>
    Y se soluciona cualquier error q pueda producir en la instalacion.

  • Oracle Client Libraries

    Where can I get the client libraries I need for Oracle 8.1.7 for a RedHat 7.2 Apache/PHP 4.2.2 Installation

If it is does this mean that Oracle client licenses are required for the web server ??Our Oracle driver is based on the Oracle client libraries, and the Oracle infrastructure, such as the tnsnames.ora

  • CU&UC from ECC5 to ECC6 Ehp4

    Hi,
    We are planning to run a CU&UC from a NUC ECC5.00 system to UC ECC6 Ehp4/NW 7.01 and need to check if this is supported.
    I have trawled through OSS/SDN etc and cannot see anything to say that it is not, but an OSS message placed regarding the supportability said that this is not possible as "ECC6 EHP4 SR1 Media is available as UNICODE ONLY, so you
    will not be able to perform 'normal' CU&UC using 'EHP4 ready"
    There is a NUC 7.01 kernel available, so I am not sure what SAP mean by this??
    Regards,
    Mark

    Hi 'Basis Team',
    The original question was "We are planning to run a CU&UC from a NUC ECC5.00 system to UC ECC6 Ehp4/NW 7.01 and need to check if this is supported." is pretty clear I think.
    What muddied the water is a reply from SAP to an OSS message placed asking the above question where they say that this is not possible as there are no NUC ABAP loads delivered after ECC6 SR3.
    This reply goes against all SAP doco that we have read, and as you say, you have done the same CU&UC that we are tring to achieve.
    BTW, which upgrade kit did you use? The Ecc6 Ehp4 Ready SRx one??
    Cheers,
    Mark

  • Best Universal Oracle Client

    Hi Friends,
    We have different versions of databases 9i,10g,11g, etc. on unix and windows servers.
    I want to install on my laptop oracle client that can access all oracle databases. Is it 11g client? or 10g client?
    I have read something before that 10g client is more stable and compatible to all versions than 11g?
    Is it still true today?
    Thanks a lot
    MsK

    Can you be a bit more specific about the exact database releases you're using? There is quite a lot of difference between an unpatched 9.0.1 database and a fully patched 9.2.0.8 database when it comes to client compatibility.
    Metalink 207303.1 is the Client/ Server Compatibility Matrix.
    An 11.2 client is compatible with an 11.2, 11.1, 10.2.0.2 or later patchset, and a 9.2.0.4 or higher patchset. It is not compatible with a 10.1 database
    A 10.2 client is compatible with an 11.2, 11.1, 10.2, 10.1, or 9.2.0.4 or higher patchset
    If you need to connect to a 9.0.1 databaes, you'd need to go all the way back to 9.2 (or 10.1) client which is no longer available on OTN.
