Installing Edge client tools

Hello can anyone answer me how to install BOBJ client tools and connect to the BOBJ server? My BOBJ suite is installed on a server. I want to install BOBJ Client tools on my laptop and connect to the server. Appreciate your help on this...Thanks

Hi Mohan,
there is no difference between Edge and Enterprise regarding the Client/Server Tool separation. Your client tools are in both cases part of the server download package.
After unzipping the files, there ought to be some folders which include the files of the client tool installation. The Universe Designer is also part of the Edge Client tools.

Unable to install Client Tools for Sybase ASE 15.7 on Windows Server 2012 64-Bit

Hello Folks,
I just downloaded the client tools package from https://support.sap.com/swdc --> Installation and Upgrades --> A-Z list --> SAP ADAPTIVE SERVER ENTERPRISE --> SYBASE ASE 15.7 --> Installation --> Microsoft Windows --> 51044415.zip
I'm trying to install the client tools for a newly provisioned Windows 2012 64-Bit machine. After unzipping the folder and running autorun, the installation does not proceed. When I go to pcclient64 and run either setup.exe or setupConsole.exe, I get the error "This Application has Unexpectedly Quit, Invocation of this Java Application has caused an InvocationTargetException. This application will now exit. (LAX)". I stumbled across various posts on the forum, and it appears that the installer is not certified for Windows Server 2012. I tried using the compatibility mode for Windows 7, and it proceeds further and launches the SAP GUI; however, it closes afterwards.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

51044415 is a PC-Client 15.7 refresh.
You are using a version that was not certified with Windows 2012. Get the most current version PC-Client 15.7 SP130 or SDK 15.7 SP130 or SP132.
If your looking for PC-Client5.7 SP130 look for EBF23439
We didn't get certified with Windows 2012 until SDK 15.7 ESD#6 even with that I reported a few minor issues.
You need the following on the machine before the installation.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) (or dsedit and ocscfg will not work)

How to install SBOP BI 4.0 client tools

Hello Everyone
We have installed BO server and need to install the client tools on local desktop. Could anyone please guide me towards installing SBOP BI 4.0 Client Tools. I have downloaded the following tools
1.     SAP CRYSTAL REPORTS FOR ENTERPRISE 4.0 SP02 WINDOWS (32B)
2.     SBOP BI PLATFORM 4.0 SP02 CLIENT TOOLS WINDOWS (32B)
3.     SBOP BI PLATFORM 4.0 SP02 LIVE OFFICE WINDOWS (32B)
4.     SBOP BI Platform 4.0 - Temporary Keys
Do i need any more tools to download for clients. Is there a specific procedure in installing these components.

Hi,
there was a special installation order during XI 3.1 i`m not quite sure if there is one in BI4. To be sure i would recommend the following order:
BI4 Clients
BI4 Live Office
CR for Ent
The Installation process is pretty straight forward like installing an Office Package. So just only "Next" -> "Next" -> "Finish" and so on.

Trying to install client tools

I am trying to install BusinessObjects XI 3.1 client tools on my PC, I am using Windows XP (SP2). It gets stuck while registering modules, 'MyInfoView.dll' is where it gets stuck. This is a fresh install, don't have any other version of BO installed on my PC.
It just hangs there for hours, is that I need to check for any other installed components. Also have both .NET framework 2 & 3.5 installed on my pc. Even if I cancel it doesnt do anything. I killed the process and tried the install again but no luck.

Disabling the McAfee didnt help, still had the problem.
Found another workaround to install the client tool. When we install the BO Client tool it creates four 'msiexec.exe' process, when it starts registering modules then you will see a fifth msiexec, that is the culprit. So when the install hangs make a note of the dll file and kill the fifth msiexec (you can find with the process id under task manager). Later register the dll manually.
For example my install go stuck while registering 'MyInfoView.dll', I killed the fifth msiexec process and then manually registered the dll. Install completed successfully and the tools worked without issue.

WebI with BO Edge - client access!

How does customer access WebI rich client tool available with BO Edge?
BO Edge client tools do not provide WebI as a client tool. However, WebI installs on BO Edge server. Does anyone has an idea how will client access WebI on BO Edge platform?

By Client Tools I mean Administration Tools, ODBC Driver and so on (all components included in OBI Client Tool option in OBI installation wizard)...
Just for your information , when I try to install OBI Client tools (same option in the wizard) in version 10.1.3.3.1 on the same windows platform, it works very well !!!

Business Object - Problem with client tool

[BO 4.0 Client Tools] Problems with using Translation Manager

I have Installed SAP BO 4.0 with SP 2 on a Windows 2008 R2 Server with a MS SQL Server 2008 R2 as repository Server.
I have patched the Server with the SP4 for BO. I have installed the Client tools with the same Patchlevel (SP 4) on the same Server.
The Java - Installation is the Installation from SAP BO 4.0
Now I try to use the "Translation Management Tool"
Login with a BO - Administrator and Enterprise authentification.
Next Step ist to load an object from the repository.
This ends with an error Message: java.lang.Exception: initInstance failed. -2
And now? I have no idea.
Who can Help?

it seems, that the higher memory limit solved the problem.
I made it in some steps and now I have a memory limit with 3 Gbyte.
And with a last step I've added the last 4 parameters.
But now I have the Problem:
"This server is considered failed because it has stopped 5 time(s) in 60 minute(s)."
And the actuall status is "failed"
Where can I reset this counter.
Waiting another hour to restart doesn't help
System Reboot doesn't help.
Where can I reset this counter or this timer.

We are install OBIEE client tool in windows with admin privilges.
Getting error if other users in access the OBIEE client tool.(No issue with admin users)
Error Message:

BusinessObjects 4.1 Sp2 Client Tool setup Installer will not Start

Hi Everyone
Have installed BOE 4.1 sp2 server platform on a virtual machine running on Windows Server 2008 R2. When I tried to install the Client tools, I execute the setup.exe program, it launches the run, when I click on runs, nothing comes up.

OK. I think I may have misled you. We tried installing BI4.0 on SQL Server 2012 and that didn't work (not supported according to the Supported Platforms documentation). I just looked at the Supported Platforms document for BI4.1 and it shows the Client Tools should be supported on Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012.
I'll try installing them and let you know. We would like to have them on the server also.

There are no client tools on Linux or Unix in general. To get client tool on Windows, download CR 2008 server for windows and install just client tools. It'll fall under your existing license.

Client Tools installs per SQL Server 2012

Is there a maximum allowed install of Client Tools per purchase of SQL Server 2012? I believe we have Enterprise but may have Standard. SQL Server Management Studio Express is not sufficient because of the SSIS limitations. Thanks!

to had a CAL assigned to me or it was CPU licensed then all is well, as the client tools aren’t licensed themselves

In short client tools are free as long as they connect to core components of SQL Server – the Database Engine and the Reporting, Integration and Analysis Services – which has correct licensing.

Installed BOE XI R3.1 Client tools now I cant open crystal reports?

After I unistalled the client tools I cant open Crystal Reports from local drives. I can from BOE, but not local or network drives. Plus all the Icons from these drives have been removed. What did I do wrong?

Need more info and it's not clear what you did or what is left on your PC but typically which ever CR product you still have installed going to the Add/Remove software and doing a Repair install on Crystal Reports Designer should fix the problem.
