Installing elements 12 mac 10.7.5 working now, whew

I had trouble (3rd installation a charm) PE12 on MacBook OSX10.7.5. I had trial version of PE10 provisionally installed for an important image. But that was not the issue. I have installation debris ranging from CS 2, 3, and 4 and still use an old Dreamweaver but PS went away when I updated system (why I went with PE).
Anyway, the installation installs an ALIAS in the app folder that did not work at all. No PE12 editor appeared.
I finally searched for "Editor.app" and found the actual application and added to the dock.
Very frustrating and time consuming.

After Clean Install some Mac applications don't work.

I just had to do a clean install of Leopard 10.5.8 with Tiger 10.4. I now have some problems with the Mac software:
1) I couldn't do a Backup Restore for my Mail local folders. I finally moved them from my Previous System Folder. They show up in the Mail Viewer Window, but the contents are empty.
2) I couldn't do a Backup Restore for my Address Book Folder. I finally moved it from my Previous System Folder and replaced the Address Book Folder in Applications. However, it won't open up.
3) System Prefs from the drop-down Finder menu under the Apple symbol won't open up. I can open it from Applications.
4) Safari won't open up from the Dock's @ icon.
If anyone could give me advice to correct these I would be appreciative. Thank you.

Hi,
In some cases "newer" version of an App will not run on Older OS software.
For instance Leopard's iChat 4 will not run in Tiger.
You say a clean install and do not say if you moved your Home Folder Contents back.
Your Mail would have been in there as would the Address Book info.
However related to the first item, you may have issues getting the older Tiger apps to read documents/Databases created by the newer Apps in Leopard.

I could not work with the new FF 4 and certainly do not like going back to I.Explorer after using 3.6 for 2 years. I cannot seem to re-install Firefox at all now, although the icon is on my desktop, nothing happens when I click it!

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:

If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

Photo Shop Elements 4.0 won't work now

I'm on a Mac. Had 4.0 then went to Mt. Lion OS 10.8.4 and it doesn't work. What can I upgrade to?

You need at least PSE 6, which is getting a bit dodgy with the latest 10.8 updates, at least for installing. If you're going to upgrade, you might as well go to PSE 11, the current version.

Windows 8.1 install and HP Pavilion 23bw not working now as second monitor‏

Prior to the 8.1 upgrade everything was working fine.
I installed the latest driver from HP for this monitor which looks like it's from February of 2013 so probably not current for the Windows 8.1 update.
I should add that I'm running the HP monitor through a ThinkPad USD 3.0 Dock and using a Lenovo Yoga 11S

This looks like a issue with the graphics card drivers on the notebook.. have you tried updating the drivers of the graphic card after windows 8.1 update? if not try to do that.

Mac User-iphone not working now after update

I did the itunes update last night. I downloaded and did the software update today. Now all I get is the emergency screen, can not get iTunes connections on iPhone. Phone does nothing for me. Any suggestions. I have restarted the computer.

ok guys i got mine working.... gunna take some patience for this to work....
heres what i did..
First i stopped connected and disconnecting the phone from the cable (wont make much of a diff from what im about to suggest but at least u wont break ur connection aswell lol)
i quit out of itunes
restarted itunes
waited for iphone to connect and then waited for it to say it was connecting to itunes then just waited
i did this about 6 times and 5 of those came up with (-4) error code but on the 6th attempt itunes sat for about 25 mins with a white screen saying iphone behind it and at the top it had the little black and white candy cane bar scrolling over and over then finally it authorized the phone!
then it spent another 10 mins replacing all my backed up items.
hope that makes sense to every1 other than me lol >.<
just be patient ppl! dont disconnect the phone or quit itunes unless u get an error message, otherwise just leave it ticking over.

Installed a theme that didn't work, now the default theme is bad too!

I tried "Modern Tool Icons for XP", but didn't notice the "for XP" part until after I installed it, so I removed it & went back to the Default. Unfortunately, now the default theme won't show any colors; it's just white symbols on the background. Even the secure part of the URL bar is just shades of gray. What can I do to reclaim the default as it should be?

This is Photoshop Elements 8, and I have the original disc with serial number so I can re-install that.
The probelm is I'd need to de-cactivate the serial number before un-installing, and I need to open the programme to do that.
Any ideas?

and all the solutions tell me to find the folder FlexNet Publisher in my library.
Problem is FlexNet Publisher doesn't seem to exist there. Can't find it anywhere on my hard drive.
Gettting down to the end of that page gives me the following info....
The FlexNet folders and files required to run Adobe applications can become corrupted or have permission problems if moved from one machine to another. They can also be damaged through a Time Machine system restore. FlexNet service licensing failures cannot be resolved by reinstalling the application or by using the Adobe CS5 Cleaner Tool. If permissions issues prevent the FlexNet licensing service from launching, accessing data, or communicating with Adobe processes, a licensing failure occurs.
Well it looks like backing everything up using Time Machine may have caused all this problem. Anyone know how to get Flexnet Publisher back?

I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that are causing the problem.
I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

I installed Office:mac 2011 on my new iMac running 10.8.3 and discovoed my file transfer from my old macbook installed Office:mac 2088. Now I have both installed and none of the office apps work - I keep getting the same error message

I recently purchased an iMac to replace my 2008 macbook.
I used migration assitant to transfer all of my macbook files to the iMac. I noticed that I had the old 2008 version of Office:mac 2008 on the iMac and decided to install Office:mac 2011 which installed successfully.
However, now I can't open excel or word or powwerpoint now using either 2008 or 2011.... I just get an error message saying there was an error and the app had to close. It offers to send a report to Microsoft.
I tried moving Office:mac 2008 to trash but this didn't resolve the issue.
Can anyone help (I am not a really sohpisticated user so be gentle)
