This looks like a follow up of Re: Error after installing Oracle Enterprise Linux (Release 5) on Dell T 110
Can you give more details what you are trying to do or trying to accomplish. Where are you trying to ping to?
It could be that you have not defined your gateway or DNS server for name to IP mapping. What is the output of
    # netstat -rn
    # cat /etc/resolv.conf

  • How to uninstall Oracle 11g on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 x86-64

I've install Oracle 11g on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 x86-64 system. I'm new to the world of Oracle and I have come to the conclusion why learning about Oracle I've screwed up my in installation of Oracle 11g to the point where nothing Oracle related is working properly. I've decided that I want to uninstall Oracle 11g and start over.
How do I uninstall Oracle 11g on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 x86-64?

What do you mean with doesn't work?

  • Configure dial-up connection in Oracle Enterprise Linux Release 4-3.7.11

Hallo!I have just finished installing Oracle Enterprise Linux Release 4-3.7.11 so that I can set up Oracle 10g on this Linux platform.
But first I need to set up a few configurations e.g enable my OEL connect to the internet via a dial-up modem.
I have used my modem successfully on openSUSE 11.2 and Ubuntu 9.04 but I am unable to use it on OEL.
My ubuntu configurations are as follows
    Connection Name:ZAIN
    Number:*99#
    APN:ke.celtel.com
How do I set up dial-up in OEL using the settings above?
Also, simple commands to restart the OEL such as shutdown -r now are not being found when I type them in the terminal. How can this be so?
    Thanks.

Use wvdial to dial out using the modem, authenticate, and have it launch the pppd daemon for creating an IP connection via the modem.
If you want to configure manually, you will need to edit the files pap-secrets and chap-sercrets in +/etc/ppp+. Then you also need a unique config file for your connection defined in the +/etc/ppp/peers+ directory.
These files are fairly simple to edit. The secret files contains your ISP authentication details. The peers file the phone number and account name (from the secret files) to use. wvdialconf should configure this accordingly though.
There's lot of details available on the web - suggest you google.

  • Error while installing web tier on soalaris X86-64 bit

    Hi All,
I want to install Oracle WEB TIER(HTTP server and oracle web cache), but in the step that "Specify WebLogic Domain", I obtain the following error.
INST- 07281: JRF is not setup in the specified domain
    - Enter a domain wich has JRF setup.
Then I tried to extend current domain with JRF product support to enable web cache. But I am not getting the JRF option when I extend my domain or create a new domain. I am getting only 3 options on the domain creation page:
    1. Basic WebLogic server Domain
    2. Weblogic advanced Web Services for JAX-RPC Extension
    3. Weblogic advanced Web Services for JAX-WS Extension
I am using WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0 installed in production mode and using latest java jdk1.6.0_21. I am getting those option in Windows platform but not on Solaris!!!!
To resolve this i tried to install Oracle Application Development Runtime 11.1.1.2.xxx (and 11.1.1.3.xxx)
    from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11-download-092893.html
But it is also failing giving an error “cannot execute” –
    *./runInstaller: /export/home/weblogic/WEBTIER/Application_Development_Runtime_v12/Disk1/install/solaris/runInstaller: cannot execute*
Any idea about this error or how to install Oracle WEB TIER on Solaris X86 (64 bit)???
    Thanks,

    Hi Cris,
Thanks for reply. I checked the permission, It was rwxr-xr-x.
Then I changed to 0777 i.e. to rwxrwxrwx But no effect....
Do you think that is there any possibility that Application Development Runtime version 11.1.2.0 and 11.1.3.0 are not compatible with Solaris X86- 64 bit environment?
    I downloaded files from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11-download-092893.html.
Also I am trying to use 11.1.1.6 from -
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/downloads/index.html
Do you have any idea how to install JRF to weblogic?
I am trying to install this from " Application Development Runtime" or shall I try with "SOA module- ofm_soa_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1"???
    Thanks,
    Anshul

  • Installing Oracle 10g on Enterprise Linux 4 Update 5 Media Pack for x86_64

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to determine whether the required rpm packages are installed on the new EL 4, and it seems after running the query using the # rpm -q there are packages missing.
According to the install section from the Doc Library these packages must exist in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0 for 10g to install successfully. My guess is, if RHEL 4 needs to have it, then Oracles Unbreakable should too... right?
    binutils-2.15.92.0.2-10.EL4
    compat-db-4.1.25-9
    control-center-2.8.0-12
    gcc-3.4.3-9.EL4
    gcc-c++-3.4.3-9.EL4
    glibc-2.3.4-2
    glibc-common-2.3.4-2
    gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90-44.1
    libstdc++-3.4.3-9.EL4
    libstdc++-devel-3.4.3-9.EL4
    make-3.80-5
    pdksh-5.2.14-30
    sysstat-5.0.5-1
    xscreensaver-4.18-5.rhel4.2
Has anyone had experience doing such an installation, and if so, what exactly is missing from Oracle's EL4 and where can I get it.

Thanks Terry and Jason for your responses. I've come along on this install but ran into a little snag. Hope you two and other members can help. Here's my output from the xterm:
    [root@localhost database]# ./runInstaller
    Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
    Checking installer requirements...
    Checking operating system versions: must be redhat-3, SuSE-9, redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1 or asianux-2

The user is root. Oracle Universal Installer cannot continue installion if the user is root.
: No such file or directory
    [root@localhost database]#
I don't know what to do, and weren't able to run it as user_oracle. Could you make a recommendation on how to resolve this error? Also, will I also need to make any clean-up efforts before beginning a new install?
    Many thanks.

  • BI Install Enterprise Linux - Broken Pipes

Hi newbie BI Server (Siebel) question.
I am attempting to install on Oracles Enterprise Linux Distribution. Everything went in ok, the Enterprise Manager and XML Publisher modules work ok. However when attempting to access the Business Intelligence (/analytics/saw.dll) The page hangs and I see a broken pipe error in the applications log file.
Metalink has very little on the information front - has anyone on here had similar problems?
    Thanks in advance..

Yes you can instal BIA796 on linux. But you don't have an installer for all components.
So you install BIA on a windows environment, this will create a dwrep folder in your Oracle BI home dir.
And in a RPD file in oraclebi/server/repository
and a web cat in oraclebidata/web/catalog
Copy all those files to linux to the same place
and continue with installing the informatice server
after that you must install the DAC server. But the manual says you have to install this on windows first as well... but if you take a look on OTN, you will see that there is an installer for unix as well...
So don't know if you can install the DAC server directly on linux...
    Good luck...
    just follow the manual carefully!!

  • Installing OAS 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) for Solaris 10 sparc

I am installing Oracle® Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) for Solaris Operating System (SPARC) for the first time on an unix server. What is required in unix as far as directories, mount-points and etc. before I start. After downloading the product, it says to extract the cpio file, move the cpio file to an empty directory, then do: cat filename.cpio | cpio -icd What directory do I run installerer in. I have reviewed the doumentation in Oracle for installing the OAS but it is the prep work that i am not sure about.
Thank you for any help and guidance.

OK, when you unzip this or untar or make cpio, you will get Disk1, Disk2, Diskn folders, the mount for this could be anywere, even if they are in different mount points of folders, it's better to have them all in a same folder cause the installer will find the disks by his own, but ifyou have them in diferent folders, the installer will ask for the directory where the disk are.
    Hope this helps
    Greetings.

  • 10.2.0.4 Patch for Linux 64 bits for Oracle 64 Bits on RH 5.2

    Hi,
Can some one guide me to get the patch for 10.2.0.4 for Oracle 64 bits on Linux RH 5.2 64 bits please!!
    thanks

    Hi,
the patch URL you can get from:
    http://www.oratoolkit.ch/download/
but the thing is that you need to be an oracle customer with a valid customer support id (CSI) to download it. Without CSI there is no chance to get the patch.

All 10g oracle is under extended support, the XE 10g version was yanked from the download pages at about the time 10g went Extended.
Probably won't be able to get a download from anywhere under oracle.com but there might be a few sites that still have it hosted. Try google.

  • Xinetd is not a service on oracle enterprise linux release 5 any longer?

    thx~

I do not think so.did you install the package, xinetd-2.3.14-10.el5.i386.rpm?
    # rpm -qlip xinetd-2.3.14-10.el5.i386.rpm
Summary : A secure replacement for inetd.
    Description :
Xinetd is a secure replacement for inetd, the Internet services
daemon. Xinetd provides access control for all services based on the
address of the remote host and/or on time of access and can prevent
denial-of-access attacks. Xinetd provides extensive logging, has no
limit on the number of server arguments, and lets you bind specific
services to specific IP addresses on your host machine. Each service
has its own specific configuration file for Xinetd; the files are
    located in the /etc/xinetd.d directory.
