Installing EOS Utility (Mavericks)

I have a MacBook Pro and using Mavericks.
When I upgraded to Mavericks, I noticed EOS Utility stopped working for remote shooting. I tried downloading the Mavericks update but it still wouldn't work.
I tried deleting & reinstalling EOS Digital Solition Disk. Insert the CD, I can't start the installation process. Clicking the startup icon does nothing.
Anyone else have this problem? Any solution?

Depending on what camera you have, full versions of the software package can be downloaded from our website. Please click HERE to go there. Enter the model camera you have, then select the EOS Digital Solution Disk Software 28.2A from the list. Once installed, you can update using the other downloads on that same page.

Eos utility 2 not installing

I, I have a brand new 70D and i'm not able to install eos utility 2 on my computer. I already have eos utility 1. I tried with the cd and with the installation package on the canon site.
At the step 4 of the installation, it say NG (in red) Eos Uility 2, an error occurred.

Good luck. EOS Utility 2.6 Remote Live View failed to work with Leopard (10.5.6) for over 6 months before Canon and Apple finally managed to fix the problem. Apple pointed at Canon - Canon pointed at Apple.
Apple definitely made the change that broke the software (Image Capture Extension) as it also broke Nikon software and some other digital camera software.
Now that it is finally fixed, I can't upgrade to Snow Leopard because I know it will break EOS 2.6.1 Remote Live View. Yay.

EOS Utility does not recognize 7D on Mac OS x 10.5.8

I am borrowing a 7D from a friend for a photo shoot. I want to teether the camera to the computer in order to control the camera without touching it. I installed EOS Utility and updated it to its newest version. The problem arise when I connect the camera to the computer. I get the message: "Camera is not recognized." I tried both USB ports and three different USB cables and nothing seems to work. Has anyone dealt with this issue. Thanks!

Eos utility stop working

I have a canon dslr 6d i have update the firmware 1.1.4 and i use the eos 2.14.0 utility i use the windows 7 32 bit.The fist days the eos utity it works now when i connect the camera via usb cable appears<<eos utility stopped working>>.the windows the can see the camera.

Can't get LR5 tethered capture to work for 70D - EOS utility won't install

I am attempting to setup tethered capture on a macbook pro with Mavericks, Lightroom 5 and a Canon 70D.
Lightroom 5 tethered capture alternates between "no camera detected" to "Canon EOS 70D" a few times and then posts the following error:
"Tethered Capture is not able to connect with the camera Canon EOS 70D (error code Canon EOS 70D). Please try restarting Tethered Capture or relaunching Adobe Photoshop Lightroom."
After browing for a solution, some have suggested that need to install the latest EOS utility software.
The EOS utility CD (ver. 28.2) that came with the camera will not install. I can browse the CD, see the files, etc. but when riunning the installation the installer appears on the dock for a split second, disappears and no error is given.
I downloaded the latest software from the Canon website, but it is upgrade only software.
I found an old EOS utility CD and it installed fine on the laptop.
I then attempted to upgrade the software by using the new CD as well as the upgrade file from the Canon website.
No matter what method I use, I still get the same results. I click on the installer, it appears on the dock for a second, disappears and nothing is installed.
If anybody has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Do I need the EOS utility software installed to perform tethered capture in LR5 with a 70D? If so, why won't it install?

The answer to this question is, no. However I am not a Mac user but many of my Mac friends complain of problems with Mavericks and LR and possibly EOS Utility. Canon has full d/l availibe for you instead of just the upgrade. They are also on the site. (at least for Win machines)
You may need to find a Mac site to help you with this. Sorry I am of little help.

T3i mavericks - EOS Utility update not working

I recently upgraded to MAVERICKS. I downloaded and followed the instructions for updating eu2.14.10x-installer.dmg.zip but I am still getting the error message "cannot be used with this version of the operating system" ????

EOS Utility is now up to v3.x. You may want to update to the newer version.
I was on Mavericks using EOS Utility 2.13 with no trouble, but I am now on Yosemite and had to upgrade it to v3.0. When you install 3.0 it actually installs both the latest 2.x series (2.14) as well as 3.0. It seems to auto-decide which one to launch based on the attached camera. However... both EOS Utility 2.14 and 3.0 and they are with the new OS.
You might just want to upgrade to 3.0.

How do I install Canon Eos Utility on Imac retina?

I want to install the canon Eos utility software on the Imac retina...without dvd-player. I can only find updates at the Canon website. Anybody a solution?

Ad additional thought:
If the only purpose of that app is to be able to attach your camera to the iMac and you don't want to go through the lengthy instructions on how to extract an installer, there really is no need to have it. You could simply insert the SD card into either your Mac's slot or use a USB card reader and can access all contents easily. Youc an either take a preliminary look at the pics with Preview or set it up so it'll automatically download into Aperture, or iPhot, or whatever app you use. I've done this with all my Canons - it's easy, fast, and saves the camera battery.

70D EOS utility download

I just purchased the 70D and want to connect it with my Macbook for easy file sharing, but my laptop does not have a CD-ROM drive. I downloaded the utility off the website, but it won't allow me to run it without the CD-ROM that came with the camera. Anyone know how I can install the EOS utility without using the included CD-ROM?

Canon will let you download the contents of the CD.

If you are running Mavericks then tell the download site that you're still running Mountain Lion (10.8) because they haven't released new software but everything I run works fine.
Pick the software section and it will display several download choices -- most of which are updates and assume you have the base version installed. But... one of them is named "EOS Digital Solution Disk Software..." with a version number and will say it's for Mac OS X. The description states this is for users who cannot use the Canon provided CD (your situation).
When you select this download, at some point a window will pop open and ask you to input the serial number of your camera. Once you have that base software, you will only ever need to download the latest updates in the future and those do not prompt for serial numbers.

Canon EOS Utility Crash

Hi,
I am using an '07 MacBook 13" and have been using the Canon EOS utility to transfer photos from my camera to my laptop for the past year. I upgraded my camera about one month ago and reinstalled the Canon software with the disc supplied and have since used this updated version on six occasions to transfer the photos from my camera to laptop. Since yesterday, when I try to start up the EOS utility software to transfer photos the software crashes once I click on download images. I have repaired permissions on the hard drive, verified repairs but it said that it was ok. I have also just downloaded the latest version of Snow Leopard 10.6.3 which has made no difference. I found the disk for the Canon software and have tried installing this again, I'm not sure how to properly uninstall the software before hand though. Here is the fall crash report... any help would be very very much appreciated!!

As for the camera being brand new, things change so much in the electronics world that it would really be impossible for manufacturers to be able to keep an up-to-date disk in each of their products. It's just the way things are, just as computers are more or less out of date by the time they're coming home with us.

Canon Digital Photo Professional and EOS Utility not responding

Have been using both Canon DPP and EOS Utility since Dec 09 successfully. Installed Snow Leopard in Jan 2010, still worked fine. Installed Aperture 3 in August and now the Canon software keeps shutting down on me. I contacted Canon and they said it is Apples fault (since 10.6.4) andthat it is because I am running Snow Leopard.
How can this be when it worked for 4 months fine?
Is this an issue with Aperture not wnating any ohter editing software?

Your drive is sometimes locked when it has unreapired damage.
Boot to Recovery_HD, launch Disk Utility, slect your Macintosh HD, and click (Repair Disk). Run again until it comes clean or gets stuck.

EOS Utility Installer WILL NOT LAUNCH

I'm running OS X 10.10 and trying to install Canon EOS Utility 3.0.1b on my mac and every single time I click the installer in begins to extract, then blips in the dock for a split second....then nothing. I have no idea what the heck is happening. I've gone into my settings and made sure I can install applications from anywhere but it still refuses to launch the installer. I'm not even getting a crash report; it just opens and closes in the blink of an eye, and my SSD isn't THAT fast...

Did you get to the bottom of this? I am having the same issue. Console comes up with this when I try and click on the installer:

Does anyone else have this issue? What was the resolution to this?

I have a MBP mid 2010, and after installing Maverics, the following apps will not launch, as in "not responding" when i try to launch them.
Maps
Photo Booth
Apple Script Editor
Color Sync Utility (did launch but after pressing the "Profiles" button, it crashed)
Grapher
Also struggling with streaming sites like Netflix, extremely slow launch the video (No network issues, tried on different network).
The problem isnt percistant, occasionally the programs will launch and work.
I have tried re-installing OSX. I sent the machine to apple service, where they told me my hdd was defective. So i bought a new SSD harddrive and installed Mavericks and i still have the same problem.
Does it sound like a hardware or a software problem?

EOS Utility will not work after update - 70D and Windows 8.1

I hope someone can help. I updated my EOS Utility on July 20, 2015, and switched to EOS Utility 2, incl. the updater (an add-on installation on the Canon site). After that, nothing happens when I connect the camera and try to open EOS Utility. I can hear (jingle) that the computer still recognizes the camera. Around that day, my computer also installed a Windows update. I have unistalled EOS and reinstalled it, both with and without the updater. Still nothing happens. Has anyone else had the same issue? On another forum, disabling wifi seemed to work, but I checked that wifi is already disabled (even by enabling and re-disabling it). Any ideas are gratefully accepted. Thank you.

You would be much better off to add an exception for the software you're getting a flase positive on, than to disable AVG. You can do this within AVG by looking for "Exceptions" under the "Advanced Settings" dialog (found in the Options menu). This is not uncommon and it just means there's some byte pattern in your file that is similar to a known virus. If you disable AVG you're opening yourself up to attacks while it's off. By adding an exception AVG will just ignore that file, and since you know it's OK, that's safe.
