Installing ERP2005 SR2 on MSSQL Server 2008?

Hi
Hoping all the experts here can help me.
We are creating a new system via system copy. Our source is ERP2005 SR2 on AIX/DB2 and our target is Windows 2008 Server and MSSQL Server 2008.
We have taken the export of the source db.
The installation kit we have for the target is part number 52023163 SAP ERP 2005 SR2 MSSQLSRV Windows.
I am confused as to the supported releases of the various components required to successfully create the new system.
The install kit has installation master DVD BS 2005 SR2 SAP Insatalltion Master (part 51033208) and bundled in the kit is MSSQL2005.
I have downloaded the SQL 2008 version and installed it via the script as instructed in the SAP guide. I started SAPinst and ran through various parameters. When I get to the option 'MS SQL Server --> Database Connection Information' I specify the server the database is sitting on, click next and get the following popup ' The MS SQL Server Version 10 is not supported for the installation of this product. Use appropriate MS SQL Server Version'
I am wondering if I am using the correct installation kit, and have got myself very confused searching around SAPnet. Notes 1152240 and 1076022 point towards certain restrictions when installing on SQL Server 2008. It asks what version of installation master and netweaver release I am on and I am not clear on this. Could anyone help here please, at least to confirm what versions I am on?
Thanks Gregory

Hi Markus
Thanks, even though our db source export is from ERP2005 SR2 I can still use the SR3 kit to install the target? Should the source and target releases not remain the same?
Or, do you mean just use the SR3 Installation Master rather than the whole kit?

  • Unable to install SCCM client on Windows Server 2008 R2 - certificate permission error?

I am trying to comply with corporate policy, which is, have an SCCM agent or client on every Windows device. I have successfully used the provided SCCM installer on other Windows 2008 R2 servers. However for one particular server I cannot get the SCCM agent
to install successfully. I've searched forums and documentation, but can't find a solution. Part of the problem is the lack of feedback by SCCM on what is wrong. I think I have narrowed down the symptom to the following error messages from the "C:\Windows\CCM\Logs\ClientIDManagerStartup.log":
[LOG[Certificate [Thumbprint C559304C1598F17641D0732EB9EB787169A25FA7] issued to 'SMS' doesn't have private key or caller doesn't have access to private key.

When I use the Certificates MMC snap in to look at installed certs on this Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, there are plenty of normal and expected certificates there. There is also a branch called SMS with hundreds of entries, I have no idea what that is.
The above error seems to indicate a permissions issue. What do I do to fix this SCCM install? It seems like a server cert issue, not an SCCM issue, so I'm posting to the Windows Server forums.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can I install Acrobat in a Windows Server 2008 for many users?

I'm looking for a solution for my enterprise to install Adobe Acrobat in Windows Server 2008 R2, where the users connect by remote desktop. I'm looking for a form for they use Acrobat by the same form they uses now Reader. But not for all, only for some of this users.
I called a responsible and he told me that I can install Acrobat for some users in Windows Server 2008 R2, but I'm not sure if that solution will be legal.
Can I buy a special license for it or I have to buy a license for each user? How can I proceed to do this, if it's possible?
Thanks in advance for you attention!

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.
    pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes
    <pre><nowiki>lockPref("app.update.enabled", false);</nowiki></pre>

  • I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Windows Server 2008

    Hi
I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Windows Server 2008.
While installing third CD it shows the following error message
    "jrew.exe has stopped working"
Please guide me what to do next as early as possible.
    Thanks

    Why?
The general policy of Oracle is very simple:
it certifies against the current version of the OS.
It never re-certifies against new releases of the OS.
Windows 2008 didn't exist when Oracle 9i was released.

    Please I need your help.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Please read through this MS KB article regarding this issue.
This issue occurs for one of the following reasons:
The installation DVD is removed during the setup process.
A low-quality DVD was used to create the installation DVD.
The speed at which the installation DVD was burned was too fast.
The DVD drive cannot read the media.
    The ISO file is corrupted.
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation:
Burn the installation DVD at a slower speed.
Use a better quality DVD to create the installation DVD.
Update the BIOS firmware for your DVD drive.
Use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to create a bootable USB flash drive, and then use the USB flash drive to install Windows.
To troubleshoot this issue, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation:
Run the DVD on a different computer to determine whether the DVD works correctly.
Test your DVD drive by using an official Windows installation DVD.
Attach the ISO file to a virtual machine to check whether it is corrupted.

  • Installing Microsoft Office on Windows Server 2008 R2

Can I install Microsoft Office on Windows Server 2008 R2?
I'm not trying to use this installation from client machines, I just want to use this installation from the same machine.
It's a Home LAN, I need to develop some applications, but basically, the server should be used as any other machine by any member of the family.
Each machine will have it's own suite of Office Applications. It's just 3 machines
Believe you can do it, and you will!!

Yes, I've done that successfully, but I use the Volume Licensing edition (Professional Plus).

If you have a Retail edition, it might not be as successful...

  • Installing Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2008

    Hi,
I want to install Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2008. As per Oracle, I should install 10.2.0.3 and then apply patchset 10.2.0.4.
For that, one has to sign in to metalink which is possible only for customers. I am
using Oracle only for educational purposes for now. Is there any other way of using Oracle 10g on Windows 2008?
    Thanks,
    Vladi

Of course if you don't have support and for educational purpose only , you should compromise a little by either install other OS or get virtual machine like VMware.
Or stay with 10.2.0.3, that should work in most cases.

  • Problems installing OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit

Hi, I'm trying to install OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit (standard edition, SP2), and it's blowing up running the installer. The installer gets past the first couple of "info" screens, but blows up prior to coming to the first "real" screen with an error:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Assertion Failed:
    Program: ...
    File: ../../../src/share/native/sun/font/t2k/t2kstrm.c
    Line: 132
    Expression: pos <= t->maxPos
Has anyone seen this and/or have an idea how to work around this? Note that I did do the prerequisite download / install of the 2005 Visual C++ 64 bit libraries.
    Thanks,
    Scott

Just to close the loop on this thread, this does indeed seem to be some sort of font / java issue on our servers. I've been completely unable to get the install to work using the GUI. However, if I run it from command line using the -silent and -response paramaters along with a proper response file, the install went perfectly. I'm going to continue working the SR with Oracle - don't want to be stuck using -silent mode when things get more complicated, but at least now I can move forward.
If anyone else has a better workaround - please let me know. "Silent" mode is workable, but difficult and time consuming.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Pratik,
I am just copy the reply by Sybrand Sir :
Oracle 9iR2 was desupported on July 31,2007
Windows 2008 was released in 2008.
Oracle never (re-) certifies for new versions of any O/S
Please upgrade to Oracle 10gR2 (preferred) or downgrade your server to XP or 2003.
Sorry, but you have no other choice.

  • Transaction logs off on  MSSQL Server-2008

    Hi,
I want to off the transaction logs in mssql server-2008 like archive mode off in oracle, auto over write on in maxdb database.
    Thanku

    You cannot stop.!
    Please read sql Architecture.
The transaction log of the SAP database records all changes made to the database. It may never be deleted and must be backed up separately. Transaction log backups save the log files. They are mandatory when you use the Full or Bulk-Logged Recovery Model since they are needed.

  • How to install KB2950358 on Windows STORAGE Server 2008 R2?

    Hello
I am experiencing the exact issue described
here on my WD Sentinel DX4000 nas box which runs Windows Storage Server 2008 R2. This is causing regular crashes and reboots and general unreliability when the memory leak causes all ram to be used up and the CPU is constantly running at 100% which both
increases electricity usage and shortens the lifespan of the system.
I have downloaded the hotfix on that KB article but it refuses to install claiming that it is not compatible. When the underlying Windows Server 2008 R2 OS is the same how can it not be compatible? My theory is that the Storage server version is only used
and available on a small handful of OEM devices and there's barely any information of it on the internet so I think Microsoft have forgotten to add it to the compatibility list for this particular hotfix.
After weeks of searching, I cannot find a way to force install the update. It's not a business-critical system and I've got backups of it so I am happy to try manual or risky efforts to get it installed. I have tried extracting the MSU file but that doesn't
give me any useful files to install it manually or skip the compatibility checks.
I've also tried to contact Microsoft directly but they don't even have Storage Server listed as an option on their support contact page so I've given up there, as a last resort I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. Other online forums
refuse to help saying it's too risky with a server but personally I want it installed and will try anything to do so because I've got a £1000 NAS sitting here that is unusable due to this issue. I'd rather not reinstall the OS as the problem reoccurs - I've
tried it already before I found this KB article.
Bottom line, Microsoft have identified the issue and released a hotfix, the server version IS supported, but was not added to the compatibility restrictions of the update so I cannot get the update installed.
Any advice gladly received. Hopefully someone from MS will see this and be able to update the compatibility of the hotfix if nothing else is possible.

I see SP1 is a prerequisite. Also the manufacturer may have specific patch procedures or recommendations so I'd probably contact them directly.
