Installing FCPX on 2nd computer?

I'm on the road.  I need to do a quick color grade of a film in an unfamiliar studio.  Can I install my FCPX on another computer temporarily?  It's on my laptop now - but I need to use the studio setup here with the big monitors.  When I leave I want to delete it from this system ... so when I get home I can install it on my OWN 2nd computer (my Power Mac full edit suite setup).  Before I leave this studio I would delete and de-register it ... (It's highly likely that when these boys see me doing a very speedy color grade on FCPX they will want to go out and buy their own)
I seem to remember there is a way in my account somewhere on Apple Store, or the Mac App Store, or iTunes ... I'm not sure where I actually purchased FCPX ... a way to go in and register, or de-register the app on a particular computer.
If someone could point me in the right direction ... I would be very appreciative.
Thank you kindly,
Ben

Apologies Dahveed (I can't find the big dot symbol on this Mac) ...
Okay, I'm figuring out the story.  A previous editor bought FCPX, using HIS ID#, but he bought it for THIS company, only the boss wasn't around with HIS ID when the purchase was done.  It belongs to this outfit.  And the previous editor is out on location somewhere and can't be reached at this very moment.  Mmm.  Maybe I have his number in my cell, must look.
And apparently, the current editor tells me, the original purchaser didn't get it from the Apple Store.  Now where could he have purchased it from?  iTunes?  Apple has a weird triad of stores, which I only just discovered, having been confused every time I buy something, or am looking for one of my apps.
Is there not some entirely neutral place where one could pick up that downloadable update?
We've got a call out for the previous editor, but I suspect he's out on location, and we need to do this job today.

    Hi, Ash69.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you want to install Final Cut Pro on another Mac.  If your old Mac is still operational, make sure to back up your data.  You can reinstall Final Cut Pro on another machine.  Here is some information regarding the license agreement and the process to install this program on another machine.
On how many computers can I install Final Cut Pro X?
The Final Cut Pro X license agreement states that you are granted a limited non-exclusive license to install and use the Apple Software only on Apple-branded computers that you own or control in accordance with the Mac App Store Product Usage Rules located at http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/ww/ ("Mac Usage Rules"). • Installing Vista on 2nd computer

I have just purchased a desktop iMac, and would like to install Windows Vista through Boot Camp. The trouble is I already have this copy of Vista on my MacBook Pro. Can I install it onto a second computer (legally) if I am only using it for myself? I really need it on both computers for critical software (Dragon Naturally Speaking) not available on Mac.

    Hi,
you are legally allowed to install Vista on one computer only.
Microsoft verifies this through their Activation Process and prevents the activation of the second installation.
Sorry to say but you need a second license.

  • Install on a 2nd computer

I purchased the full Acrobat X Pro and installed on 1 computer only.
According to the license, I am permitted to install on 2 personal computers. Every time I try to install on my backup computer, I receive a message that I have exceeded the permitted installations. If I want to use on my backup computer, I have to DEACTIVATE the program on my primary computer.
This is time-consuming and a royal pain.
What can I do to fix?
Thanks - need more information PLEASE ASK!

  • Installing CS4 on 2nd computer

My hard drive crashed on my iMac. I purchased a new hard drive and reinstalled CS4 without any problems. I'm trying to install CS4 onto my new MacBook Pro but nothing happens when I insert the disc. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi -
I was able to install it on another computer; and I just tried to install another program and the disc was also rejected. Think you are right - it is the optical drive. Had not thought of this!!
So, either get it repared, find an external drive to use or, maybe time for a new macbook pro!!
Thanks for all your help...funny how it is the most obvious of things...

  • Install programs on 2nd Computer without CD?

Trying to install my programs (CS6 Design and Lightroom 5) on a secondary computer & don't know how to WITHOUT CD/Disc of the applications themselves. I purchased my most recent copies of Adobe CS6 Design and Lightroom 5 via digital download, working great on Computer #1, but need them on Computer #2 as well. Is this possible, and if so, how?

  • Installing FCE on 2nd computer

I am planning on installing FCE on our laptop (MBpro). This would be a second installation, as I am currently using it on my iMac. I would be using the same scratch drive on both computers. I would assume this would work out fine and is legal as long as I am only using one copy at a time.
    So I have 2 questions.
    1) Are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of?
    2) If I start a project on one and want to move to the second computer is there an easy way to get the required files copied? I would have the clips and render files on the scratch disk and the project files I would copy over, any other files I would need?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Thanks everyone for the input. Looks like it is good to go.
fbcbootie, I know what you mean, but I can't keep up with my editing by just editing at home with the iMac. With the laptop I plan to at least back up my footage and do at least rough editing while we are traveling. Being retired is a tough life, but someone has to do it, so the younger generations can find work.

  • Install on a 2nd computer. Lost serial number

Hi - I purchased Lightroom 3 a few years ago.  I have it on one computer and now want to install it on another.  I have the product code that came in the DVD case, but it is a 22 digit code, not a 24 digit code like the website is requiring in order to get the serial number for activiation.  Any advice?

This link tells you where to find it: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroom-4.html
Open the file in question - Lightroom 3.0 registration - with any test editor.

  • HT4722 install fcpx on second computer?  it keeps reading "error"

i've been trying to install (already purchased) fcp x on a second computer (macbook pro)
and it stops at around 850 mb's, and then i get an "error" prompt.
    any suggestions?

Don't bother with the download if it's causing problems.
Simply copy the app across  with a memory stick or hard drive etc.  .  .  .  .  .  that's all there is to it and much quicker.

  • Installing on a 2nd computer (i know this has been asked)

So ive researched the forums and learned that you can install logic on a desktop and a laptop. i installed it perfectly fine on my desktop. then i tried on my lap top but when i put in the registration number, it said its already been used. is there i second registration number i need to install it on my laptop as well?
    thanks, xander

Make sure the laptop is not on a network with the desktop during installation. Other than that, I'm not sure what the problem could be.

  • Installing LR5 on 2nd computer

I bought LR5 a few months ago and installed it on my laptop.  I just bought a desktop and am trying to install it there and when I go into my order and download, nothing happens.  Any suggestions?

    Try this link:  https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_lightroom
Once you have the "trial", run the installer and use your serial numbers.
If that link doesn't work look for "Try" under "Buy" here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html

  • Question: How do you install CC on second computer?

Question: Bought CC. Installed it on my computer at work. It works nicely. I was promised when I signed up that each license could be installed on a second computer. When I log in on my home office computer, all I can see is trial versions of individual programs — not CC (as promised). How should I proceed? Retro-compatibility with CS6 is *challenging*.
