How to install Funal cut pro studio on Lion

Can't see the Content data --
I have just installed DVD Studio Pro 4 on Lion, and I ended up with the Content data installed in ‘/Library/Application Support’, which I am not sure is correct, as the program is not listing any preset styles etc. I copied it to ‘~/Library/Application Support’ and it still can’t be seen by the program. Any ideas on this?

You won't find any help at tech support ... other than telling you the facts: Intel processor Macs require FCP 5.1 or higher. FCP 5.0 and earlier were written for PowerPC processor Macs, long before Apple switched to using Intel processors.
And then there's the issue of the OS. OS 7 will allow FCP 7 (and sometimes even FCP 6) to work OK, but versions earlier than that have spotty operation on Lion.
Here's a brief history of full FCP versions and recommended OS compatibility:

Essentially, you have a newer Intel processor Mac with a new OS and very old, incompatible software.   You might be able to find a used version of Final Cut Studio 3 on sites like ebay or craigslist as it is no longer offered by Apple as an upgrade.
Alternatively, you could purchase and download FCP-X, but it is an entirely different application, sharing virtually nothing with previous versions of FCP.

New MacBook Pro 7.1 doesn't install final cut pro studio

I bought a new macbook pro 13' last week. When I tried to install the final cut pro studio, an alert window popped up saying that my mackbook doesn't have the required hardware to support the final cut pro. Can any one please help me on that?

FCP 5.0.4 is not compatible with Intel Macs.
If you have that version, then you need to upgrade to FC Studio 3, which is compatible with Intel Macs.
FCP 5.1.4 is compatible, but you'll need at least FCP 6.0.x to run with Snow Leopard.
Expect to pay about $250.00 for the upgrade if you shop.

Problem installing Final Cut Pro Studio 5

When i install Final Cut Studio (w/Admin account) and type the correct Serial number i receive the next Error: "Licensing Error: The license file will not be written to disk because the user does not have enough privileges."
I yet use the disk utility with "First Aid/Repair permission".

Final Cut Pro Studio 2 Install

Hello I purchased my G4 Dual 1.25 Ghz with 1GB of memory about a year ago. It had installed Final Cut Pro Studio 1 (FCP 5) at the time with all the other programs. Recently after I upgraded my Quicktime to 7.6 My DVD Studio Pro stopped working. After much trying and advice I re-installed my OS Leopard that I purchased about 6 months ago and lost all my serial numbers for all the programs, (FCP, DVD Studio, Soundtrack etc.) So now I would like to purchase Final Cut Pro Studio 2 (educational version) and I am told I will have to have serial numbers for Final Cut Pro Studio 1 because this is an upgrade. How can I install FCP Studio 2 with out any previous serial numbers? Please any help would be greatly appreciated, I work with the elderly and we have several projects we are working on together and I really need to get back up and running. Thank you for any help anyone can give me.

I installed final cut pro studio a few months ago but my mac then had to go in for repair. I have since had it back but when trying to run any of the studio applications, when asked to enter my serial number again it says it cannot run application as licensing data is corrupt.

If it was my mac, I'd archive anything of importance to another drive or cd's or data dvd's, then do a complete erase and install of everything, starting with the OS.
Install OS, run the updates, install applications, run the updates. Repair permissions and reboot after every installation. You'll be stunned at how spiffy your machine will then be.
You can search this forum for how to just trash the corrupt licensing data. But personally, I wouldn't do that. FWIW.

Just one more quesiton re: this topic, I am looking to get rosetta but do not have Leopard or Snow Leopard...
I read that it is not on Snow Leopard only on Leopard....so do I need to get only Leopard? Can u advise?
Alternatively I do have Mac OS X Tiger so is it on this and can I install it from here?

Hey Fellow iPeps., My name is Jonathan and I have a rathe complex issue infront of me. First, let me state that I am by no means a Mac sorta guy. I am in the transition stage where some things in that mac world just make no sense to me. Okay, I am trying to install Final Cut Pro 5 onto my new iMac 27inch unit and keep getting an error msg that reads, Your computer does not have the right hardware.... you know, I have tried installing it on my macbook pro as well... Final Cut Pro 5 is NOT compatible with Intel processor Macs. You need version 5.1 or higher. The current version is FCP 7, which is only available as part of Final Cut Studio 2009 (aka FCS 3).

Specifications for Final Cut Pro Studio (FCP 7) ?

I have a G5 running OSX 10.4. I'm pretty sure I have to install OSX 10.5 to run the studio. But what about my other computer specs? Will my GeForce FX 5200 Graphics Chipset be enough? It will likely run FCP but won't run Motion or Color. If the fastest external drive connection you have is FW800 then you'll be somewhat limited in the number of streams of video you can work with at the same time.
Also, it would run better with 4 GB RAM.

I have a client with both of these installed on the same machine (running 10.4.6).
When they try and launch either application, the splash screen comes up, loading various filters, etc. then they get an error message:
"File Error: A file of this name already exists" "OK"
Clicking "OK" closes the app.
Any idea:
1. What the file in question is?
2. Can it be deleted to let the app run?
3. Can Final Cut Express HD 3.5 and Final Cut Pro Studio 5.1.1 be used on the same machine?

I believe Final Cut 5 is designed to run on a Power PC CPU machine, the current MacBooks use Intel chips - so the software will not install on your Intel based MacBook.
You can, however, upgrade from a full version of Final Cut 5 to Final Cut Studio 3 which contains the latest version of FCP, version 7 as well as Compressor, Color, Soundtrack Pro and Motion for $299 which is a steal as the full version for Final Cut Studio 3 is $999.
You only need the serial number of the full version (non-academic or non-upgrade version) to do the FCS 3 upgrade - you don't need to have FCP 5 loaded on your machine to make the upgrade work.

If you have an Intel Mac and have recently upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion; here is a post I made in another similar thread:
I do not have any experience with Final Cut, but if you have existing projects that you MUST access; then you are in need of a solution on your new iMac in Mountain Lion!
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta. Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion). While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Workarounds:
1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
2. If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between Final Cut Pro or Lion/Mt. Lion;
3. Purchase a used Mac that will run Snow Leopard (with the optional Rosetta installed) and continue to run FCE on that Mac (you can actually use Screen Sharing with a "headless" used Snow Leopard Mac Mini and use the screen from your other Mac to view and work FCP in the Mac Mini environment);
2. Upgrade to an Intel compatible version of FCP (such as FCP X) and hope it converts your existing projects to its newer format correctly. There is much debate that the newer version of Final Cut are eliminating many needed features; for example Final Cut Pro X vs. Final Cut Pro 6 -- many users are staying with version 6;
3. Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels and then install FCE in the Snow Leopard environment:

Can't install final cut pro 5.0/erased my old final cut

I just got final cut studio and the option for installing final cut pro is inaccessible. When it finished installing (said it was successful), my old version of final cut was gone and the new version was not installed.
What do I do because when I go to reinstall it, it wont let me install it (says skip)?

What you did was not enough to delete the preferences properly.
This article tells you how. It is for FCE2 but works the same for FCE3 so I assume it is also OK for FCE 3.5:-
