Installing Firefox 4 in Linux

I want to install Firefox 4.0 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, so I downloaded it. There is a readme file with Firefox 4 wich says:
'For information about installing, running and configuring Firefox
including a list of known issues and troubleshooting information,
refer to: http://getfirefox.com/releases/'
However, the url http://getfirefox.com/releases/ get this message:
The connection has timed out
The server at getfirefox.com is taking too long to respond.

  • Firefox will not open for other users on a shared computer with individual accounts one day after installing Firefox

On a computer that is shared with multiple users(3),two of the users cannot open Firefox, only one user can. It shows the blue circle (Windows 7) but it disappears and does not open. Task Manager shows its running, but after closing,it won't open. Are there settings to adjust in Windows,or on Internet Options?
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 installed.

  • I cannot uninstall or install firefox

I was having trouble with flash player not working and decided to uninstall Firefox. ADD/REMOVE Programs cannot remove it. It says: "An error occurred when trying to remove Mozilla Firefox (3.6.16). It may have already been uninstalled."
I also cannot delete the Mozilla Firefox folder from Program Files.
Lastly, I cannot install a new copy of Firefox. The wizard crashes and says:"Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous uninstall of Firefox. Do you want to reboot now?" Rebooting does not fix the problem.

  • Installing firefox 4 in Linux Ubuntu

    Downloaded Firefox 4 beta3. I'm on Linux (Mint-ubuntu).
I am assuming it detected my OS, because it offered no choices.
    (got a .tar.bz2 file)
I was expecting a self-installing file (like Chrome and Virtualbox provide) where one can just click on the file and it installs (just like in windoze). (you guys really should make it as easy as for chrome - not everyone on Linux is a geek).
I have no idea how to install this. If it's just to extract, I don't know the conventions on where to send it, and have it add the program to the Mint menu.
Could you please provide with detailed instructions or point me to the correct file for download? Thanks very much.

    Hi,
This is really easy using PPA. Just copy 'n' paste these two commands into a console/terminal shell.
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa && sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install firefox-4.0

This is a known problem, but we don't have a solution for it. If your device has the Toshiba Market app, you might be able to download a (possibly outdated) version of Firefox from there.
