Installing Flash - "Error 2"

I have a new computer - PC, Lenovo Z710, Windows 8.1 and I tried to install CS4. Everything installed okay, except for Flash CS4, and it said that the problem was "error 2". What is this problem and how can I solve it?
Thank you.

Could be that there is a newer version of Flash Player on the system and when it detects it, it doesn't install because it would try to install its old Flash Player as well. Ergo you will have to uninstall Flash Player and also other programs that use the respective components like Acrobat/ Adobe Reader. Also this may depend on allowing the respective ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer, so you have to mess with that.

  • Help with Installing flash error- metafile cannot be loaded

I read the forum on this but it ended last year and there was no response to some recent questions on this and the direct email to the Adobe rep. on there got no response.
I am having this problem with installing Flash- it gets about 30% of the way and then a message comes up that says the metafile cannot be loaded.
I am running 10.7.5 on Mac, all browser software is current. I use both Safari and Chrome. After it said Flash was out of date I tried to update but got the metafile error. So I uninstalled Flash to install it fresh but the same error came up. I tried everything recommended from the forum. I also did all the steps from the help list direct from Adobe ( deleting Flash files, folders, rebooting, etc.) The offline link Adobe provides says the "file cannot be found" so I can't download that either. So I tried the online link download, but even after doing all the steps in order etc. I still get the error when I try to install it.
I have no firewall and have no virus software running. I also tried the direct offline links that others have provided from 2013, (unfortunately they are old)  in both clicking on them and also downloading by right click but they are dead links and even  the download for it has no content.
Any help that is more recent than last year? If this is in the wrong place, apologies. New to the forum.

I tried all solutions but one posted in adobe support. I am local administrator but IE security settings are set by group policies and buttons in tools security setting are grayed out.
After three days with "The ActiveX control for Flash Player could not be registered" message I tried registering the activeX control manually.
    Bingo! that made the trick.
So open a DOS window, type "regsvr32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10d.ocx" -first check if this directory exists and contains the Flash10d.ocx (no quotes needed) and you should receive a confirmation that it registered correctly.
I must say that I've tried so many ways that I cannot repeat the correct order before this has worked ;-(
Hope it works for you all

  • When trying to install flash ERROR!

I have been trying to get flash to work on my computer for
over a month. I have tried everything from uninstalling to
installing. Changing settings, restoring to an earlier date, you
name it I tried it. I was on a chat with HP yesterday for 6 hours -
still not working. Talked to someone at Adobe tonight - but they
dont offer tech support via the telephone for flash so he was not
able to help me when it would not install.
I have Vista home edition and IE 7 is where I have problems.
I am able to install it on Firefox no problem. This really makes me
not want to use IE 7 but I having issues with a slideshow that
defaults to IE so I need help!!!!
I was able to uninstall and install before tonight. But now
after uninstalling and restarting when I go to
adobe.com/go/getflashplayer it starts to download, install and then
    gives me an error:
The version of Adobe Flashplayer Active X is not the most
current - go to adobe.com/go/getflashplayer and download the most
    current version.
Well the issue is I am on that site and trying to download
    it.
I have tried getting it installed through a stand alone and
same error. I have tried through the slideshow software and still
    the same error.
Can someone - ANYONE - help me please. I can not believe the
issues have been going on with this for over a year and Microsoft
nor Adobe has come up with a fix.
I will leave my comments about that to myself - but I would
appreciate someone helping me with this issue.
Any advice other then get rid of Vista or use Firefox - those
are options I am still thinking about.
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the information. I downloaded the Active X from the link you provided but I am still getting the same error message

  • Flash Install - Flash errors out won't run

I just purchased an education version of Studio 8 today. My
PC laptop previously had a trial version of Flash 8 running on it.
After installing Studio 8, when I try to run Flash 8 it tells me it
encountered a problem and needs to close. Neither Flash, or the
Flash Video Encoder, or Fireworks will run.
Any takers on how to get Flash running?

Hi, Just make sure that in Tools, Manage addons under "Show"(light text) that the ActiveX Control-Shockwave Flash Object is Installed and Enabled. That's the Control for the Flash Player in IE.
Also you can use IE and go to Tools, Internet Options and set to Medium for the Internet Zone.

  • Firefox keeps asking to install Flash. When I attempt this, I get an error message stating it failed. Flash works in Google Chrome, but not FF.

I don't know what happened but Firefox keeps asking me to install Flash. When I attempt to install the program, I get an error message that it has failed. There is no other information given and I'm just left hanging. I've tried this over twenty times with the same results. I've even uninstalled and re-installed Firefox, but this continues. I'm unable to watch any YouTube videos. I then installed Google Chrome and all is working fine. I can't stand the Google company though and really with I could continue using Firefox. Why is GC working for me any FF not? How can I fix this?

Google Chrome comes with its own Flash plugin, so doesn't require to install Flash separately.
You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page.
You may have to run the Flash installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator) and make sure that Firefox and possibly other browsers are closed.

  • Error message when trying to install Flash 10.0.45.2

I am running IE 7 on windows XP. We had some issues with Flash active active control version 10.1.53.64 and higher so I unistalled 10.1.53.64 and downloaded the older version (10.0.45.2) from the adobe website but when I try to install it I get the following error "The version of Adobe Flash Player that are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest more secure version". I am however able to install version 9.0.289.0
Is there any particular reason that i cannot install 10.0.
The reason that I don't want to use 10.1 is because it has a bug that affects the working of my application and the audio some times does not play.
    Thanks

Thanks for the information. I downloaded the Active X from the link you provided but I am still getting the same error message

  • "ORLive" broadcast error message says "install Flash" Is there a workaround for Flash?

Hi - I know that Flash doen't work on my ipad, and I know there are still a lot of websites out there that require Flash in order to show their content.  I'm okay with taking my viewing elsewhere most of the time, but the government (Medline - the NIH and the Library of Medicine) has a website that shows a surgical procedure that I really want to see.  On my ipad, all I get is the error message telling me to install Flash.  Is there any way that I can view this on my iPad - is there an app that I can use to open the url and see the video?  My iMac isn't working right now, and I'm stuck.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

  • Error installing Flash Pro CS6

I'm trying to install Flash Pro CS6 but I keep getting the following error (the message is in portuguese) after running the .exe file (downloaded directly from Adobe's oficial website).
I've tried it in 3 different computers with Windows 8 and in one computer with Windows 7 and all of them give me the same error. I'm using an Admin account so that's not the problem!

The problem is happening when I try to extract the downloaded files from the .exe to another folder. The application has all the permissions available
Here is another picture of the initial screen when I double click the .exe file.
I've tried to extract it to other folders, like "Documents", "Downloads", but It gives me the same error as before.

  • Installing flash player(error internet explorer)

When I try to install flash player is gives me an error message that I need to get
out of internet explorer. what does that mean?

It means that you need to close all Internet Explorer windows.
If you still get that message after closing IE, check with the Task Manager (Processes tab) if iexplore.exe is still running in the background.
P.S. you must also close any Messenger applications that are running.

  • After updating, install error "Install Flash Player.exe - Entry point not found"

My current version of Flash Player is: 11.1.102.55. Then after an Update is performed and the download is downloaded, then it tries to install the download and an error message occurs. The error message says - Install Flash Player.exe - Entry point not found - then it says The procedure entry point  SetDllDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNAL32.dll.
When I try to uninstall Flash Player I get the same error message above except that it says Uninstall_Flash_Player.exe instead of Install Flash Player.exe.
I'm running WIN2000, my current version of Flash Player is 11.1.102.55 and I’m running Firefox version 12.0.

I believe 10.1.102.64 was the last supported version of Flash Player for Win2k.  That being said, there have been numerous users that have been able to work around the error you are receiving.  Please see this post for details:
