  • Unable to Install Flash Player (Mac)

I'm attempting to install Flash Player on a Mac running Yosemite (10.10.1). Whenever I attempt to open the installer the icon appears in the dock but no UI ever appears and the Activity Monitor describes the application as being unresponsive, forcing me to force quit it. I've also tried using the "Flash Player for Safari and Firefox – NPAPI" installer linked to on the Troubleshooting Page and while that one does bring up a UI and allows me to accept the License Agreement it freezes in the same way when I accept the terms on the first screen and hit install.
This is on a clean install of Yosemite that is not yet 24-hours old. The only other things installed on the Machine are the Homebrew package manager, Java, and Apple's command line development tools.
Many thanks for any insights that you guys can provide.

I just noticed that there was an update for Mac OS X after posting this (10.10.2) and, sure enough, that fixed the problem. Why Flash doesn't install on 10.10.1? It's a mystery.

  • Unable to install Flash Player on OSX 10.8

I'm running OS X 10.8.5 and am trying to update the Flash Player (16.0 I think) in Safari 6.2.  Every installer I've tried fails at the end with a "General Error" and no further information.
Per the troubleshooting page, I uninstalled flash and tried again with identical results (except now I can't access any webpage that uses Flash).
Again per the troubleshooting page, I tried the direct download from the link Flash Player for Safari and Firefox - NPAPI  ), but that fails at 9% with an equally descriptive "This installation failed" message.
Any clue what's wrong?  I cannot find any other information to help me along.

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Try enabling "root" user for MAC and install Adobe Flash Player from there.

  • Trying to install flash player - Mac Air

I had flash player a few days ago.  Now I keep getting plug-in failure.  I've tried for hours today to download...  You tube won't play either.  Your site says I have latest installed but I can't see it in my launchpad

You won't see it in LaunchPad.. It's NOT an app. It's a plug-in. It installs to Mac HD/Library/internet Plug-ins.

  • I Need a Flash Player - Mac OSX 10.5.8 Intel

I have a MAJOR problem. My flash player had no issues for years but I tried updating it to fix Safari and had to uninstall my Flash player. This created all kinds of problems.
Naturally, when a page tells me to update my Flash player, it brings me to the Adobe page that says my OS doesn't support the latest version of Flash and I need to find an archived version.
From what I've researched, I need to use Flash player 10.3.183.90 .........so I found that archived version. I'm opening the "Install Adobe Flash Player" folder and it just keeps bouncing in my dock...nothing happens.
I'm so frustrated that I don't know what to do anymore. All I'm asking for is a working version of Flash here. Please help me.

I just figured out a possible solution to the bouncing folder issue. Instead of double clicking on the "Install Adobe Flash Player" icon in the .dmg folder, right-click (control-click) and select "Show Package Contents" from the resutling pull-down menu.
Then select the following file: (folder) / Contents / Resources / Adobe Flash Player.pkg
Double-click to open. It should open the installer app "Install Plugin" and will run after you click continue.
I was able to get this archived version of Flash Player working in Safari on OS X 10.5.8 on MacBook Pro 2.6 GHz Intel Duo. It also works within Google Chome, but you have to allow it each time it's called. No workaround for that hiccup.
Huge pain in the *** though! It really feels like Apple and Adobe both don't want you to easily find and install this version of the Flash Plaer, even though many websites still require the plugin to view certain content. In my case, it's content shown on my son's school's e-learning website Egenuity.com — which for us is s non-negotiable, since it's his eduction—not a video game.
This B.S. cost me an hour of time to figure out how to reslove this problem for him. It's unlikely that most parents (or the school's Windows IT staff) are as savvy as me when it comes to troubleshooting these types of Mac OS issues. Which means that other students and their parents with this Mac OS X 10.5.8 (or ealier) setup will face similar frustration. Unacceptable Adobe!

    1. Try creating a new (admin) account and see if it'll install under that account. This will be an indicator of premissions problems under your account if it works.

  • How do i install Install Flash Player 8 OSX on 110 comps?

I have to install flash 8 to all my clients but i don't know how do this with ARD 2? Anyone solved this? Do i have to do my own package for Macromedia Flash 8. Would be nice to remote-install other types of installers to, not just packages...
    thx.

If you can identify the files that the Flash 8 installer placed on your computer, you may be able to push those files with "Copy Items" to the same relative location on all the client machines. Try it on a small sample first to ensure it works.
Double check file permissions on the test destination machine too.
    Cheers.

  • Can't install flash player on Mac OSX version 10.4.11

    Hello
I've spent the morning trying to do this and still no joy. I had flash player already and when trying to use the 4oD website it asked me to download or upgrade flashplayer. I did, the correct version according to my mac version. All goes well and the window message says 'installed successfully'.The only thing I find strange is that just before this message appears I hear the sound of items being put in the 'trash' ... and there they are. Other times the message error -1409 appears. The only icon that appears is the Flash player installer.pkg so not sure whether the application was installed or just the installer!  All web searches prompt me to download the missing plug in, both in safari and mozilla. Java script is definitely enabled on both browsers.
I have use the uninstall package three times, restarted the computer, downloaded flash player again but no change.
Forgive my limited use of jargon - this doesn't make any sense to me but I've just spent 3 hours following instructions to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Monika
