Installing Flash Player on to Windows 7 PC
Am I the only person who can't install this BS. I mean really. WTF? What I want to do is go to bed. I need to install this software, but it keeps telling me to close IE before it can do anything. The program starts downloading and at exactly 50% it stops and tells me to close IE. How the hell do you close a program that isn't open. I have the Flash Player 11 Active X on my programs, and I can't uninstall that because it wants me to close IE first. --- IE is not open. I changed my security settings, but that does not work either. Does any one know WTF to do? When I go a site that uses Flash Player it demands that I install it, but I already have Flash Player 11 Active X installed and none of the sites recognize my computers Flash Player Active X - WTF is Flash Player Active X anyway?

All instances of iexplore.exe must be closed, even those running in the background, in order to complete the installation. Use the Task Manager's Processes tab, as every Windows user would know.

I am using Windows 7, Firefox 36.0.1, and attempting to INSTALL Flash Player 17. I never had problems until about a year ago, the way the installation & set up was so easy...now, I fight with it for days every month when a new update is ready. There used to be 2-3 easy steps to follow; now I click to download, watch the diagram until it finishes, find the icon on my desktop, and click it again (presumbly to download & install), and it disappears. Please do the following:
Download the uninstaller, Uninstall Flash Player | Windows
Download the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page in the 'Still having problems' section
Run the uninstaller
Reboot your system
Run the installer
After installation completes, go to Flash Player Help and click on the 'Check Now' button. The results should indicate that you have the latest version, 17.0.0.134, installed. -
Installing Flash Player 12 on Windows Server 2008 R2 X64 with IE 8
I have an app that runs on Windows Server 2008 R2 X64 that requires Flash Player 12. When I try to install Flash Player 12 it says that Windows Server R2 X64 is not supported by way of eliminating it from the list of supported operating systems. When I do a search I can find many people who indicate they have it running or explain "hacks" to get it running. Since the app requires it there is an implimcation that it should be running on this OS. What is the offical word on this? This is a production server and I really don't want an "unsupported hack" running in this environment. Is there a supported means of having Flash Player 12 run on Windows Server 2008 R2 X64 with IE8 even if it is within the 32 bit version of the browser?
Server 2008 (x86) is supported, and I had an x64 machine set up last month that had FP12 installed and running in IE and Firefox. 64 bit IE wouldn't run it for some reason, but the 32 bit did. It installed in C/Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash and C/Windows/SysWOW64/Macromed/Flash, but I was unable to get the ActiveX plug-in to enable outside of 32 bit IE.
I also set up a Server 2012 machine that DID support the x64 ActiveX, but that's probably not an option for you.
Like you, I'd be leery of "hacks" to get it to run as an x64 pkug-in, as it may have unintended and undesired consequences in other areas. -
How do I prevent Adobe Website attempt to install Flash Player which freezes Windows e-mail browser.
For past several days, my Windows e-mail browser frequently freezes and must be closed. This occurs whenever message near top of browser states that Adobe website wants to install Adobe Flashplayer. Windows explanation states that termination is a result of Data Execution Prevention (DEP). How do I stop Adobe Website attempts to install Flash Player, or if that is not possible, what is a solution? I have uninstalled Flash Player in an attempt to resolve problem without success.

For what it's worth, Apple itself discontinued support for PowerPC with their operating systems back in 2009 with the release of Snow Leopard. Regardless, I know its frustrating when your system is no longer supported. Hopefully the instructions I posted in the FAQ allow you to get Flash content running again.

through all the steps and it shows as install it, but yet is not
working, i went to control pannel to see if it was there and it

Registry problems when installing Flash Player
Hi, first of all, sorry for any misspelling, I'm Argentinian . I'm writing here because I've tried a LOT of ways and solutions to install Flash Player for IE, here some facts:
I mostly use Google Chrome, that has the FP already installed, but i have a problem with the ActiveX control, I can install Flash player 11 for windows but Not ActiveX... i read that that's a tool for IE, so i thought i wouldn't be needing it, but when i tried to execute a program (Game Ranger) it said that i needed ActiveX control and that i didn't have it in my computer.. So i started to check for solutions, etc etc. and finally give it up because i just couldn't do it, but well now I started again because I want to know if it's something important to have..
The problem when installing is this: It starts to download Flash Player.. then install it and when it's in 51% it stops and a message appears saying: registry error. this is what happens when I try to install ActiveX, not Flash Player itself because as I said earlier I can install it...
All I want to know is if there's some way to allow Flash Player installation to change registry values.. because i think that's the main problem.. i think. Thank you for reading.

Can't install Flash Player upgrade
Can't install Flash Player upgrade on Windows 7 system. Get it downloaded and get message "an exception Runtime error has occured in script". Message says "new instance of MS Script Editor". Try to debug and get message "can not create application folder"

I've seen another report of the installer throwing a script error, however, I've been unable to reproduce. Can you please do the following to provide a log file for further troubleshooting:
Download the installer from get.adobe.com/flashplayer and save it to the desktop
Launch the command prompt, click the Start orb and in the search field, type: cmd.exe
When the command prompt utility launches, drag the installer from the desktop onto the command prompt window hit space key and type /debug
It should look similar to (the actual file name may differ): C:\Users\labuser\Desktop\install_flashplayer14x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe /debug
Note there IS a space between the file name and the / and there is NO space between / and debug
If there are spaces in the directory path, the command needs to be encapsulated in quotes, for example: "C:\Documents and Settings\labuser\Desktop\install_flashplayer14x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe" /debug
Click Enter to proceed
A file named host.develop.log will be saved to the same location the installer was saved toYou may notice the the online installer file is missing. This is because it deletes itself once executed, so it will no longer be saved locally.
Post the contents of the host.develop.log file here in your response, or share the file following the How to share a document instructions.

Hi, I am having trouble installing flash player.
OS - Windows XP (sp3)
Software - Flash Player 10.1
Issue - Insufficient permissions to write a file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil10l_Plugin.exe:5
I am a system admin and I have all the permissions.
Gone through various trouble shooting methods like, uninstalling, giving permissions e.t.c
Please help me, I am trying to install from 3weeks and not able to fix this.

I am running IE 11 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Service Pack 1. When I attempt to install Flash Player, it goes through all of the steps, tells me the player is installed, and welcomes me. I cannot open the player and it does not appear in the Start Menu, Task Manager, System Tray, or anywhere else. When I try to open a file, the site tells me Flash player is not installed. I have even downloaded it to a separate folder and ran the install with IE shut down completely. And Shockwave in ENABLED but in 32 bit .I have been trying to get this to work for about 3 weeks now. HELP!!!
Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.
If you need to open a local SWF file you will need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Note that the download is the player, not an installer, so you will need to make the file association manually. -
Windows 8 and keeps asking to install Flash Player
I have Windows 8 and keep getting this message, "Please install the latest Flash Player" and i won't let me update?
When I attempt to update it says it is already installed embedded in IE
Windows 8. When i go to Windows update page it does not have Flash Player as
an update just Bing.
