Installing FlexBuilder 2 Beta3 fails!
Hi,
After uninstalling FB2 beta2 and FDS beta 2, I did manage to
install FDS beta3, but installing FB2 beta3 fails, I've tried few
times and it does the same thing, merging module and it hangs, when
I try to click anywhere nothing work anymore not even Ctl_Alt_del,
I have to rest the computer.
My PC is AMD FX 57 64bit running windows server 2003 32bit,
with 2Gig Ram. I dont think its something to do with my PC, because
everything else from Macromedia worked in the past.

It seems as if my javaw.exe file keeps crashing and the

the latest release of JRE, but the Flex Builder Installer still
stops responding.
Im redownloading the installer just in case there might have
been some data corruption during transfer, which I doubt, but I'll
try anything at this point. I just took a 3 day course and it's
disappointing not being able to get the Builder running on my
machine. :-(
Hi Omar,
I hope that re-downloading resolved the problem, but let me
know if not. We've had some trouble in the past with downloads from
the labs site being corrupted, but haven't seen much of that since
Beta 1.
If you still have the problem after re-downloading, here are
some steps to try:
1) see if there's an installer log file in your temp folder,
and if so, please send it to me, and post any specific errors
contained to this forum.
2) if you're running any anti-virus or security programs,
especially those that scan inside of jar files, disable them
temporarily during installation. We've found that some scanners can
increase the time to install by as much as a factor of 10x, making
it appear to have crashed.

I did try disabling anti-virus software and other real time
protection applications that were running but I did not succeed
going that route.
In finally did find that someone in another thread suggested
starting the system in Safe Mode to install the Flex Builder.
I tried and I successfully installed the flex builder, and
rather quick and smoothly might I add. I never could figure out
what was causing it to hang up, as I tried to cut down the system
processes in the task manager to a minimum, but my Builder is up
and running atleast.
Thanks for the response ChrisAg

Numerous attempts at a clean install of iTunes have failed. I am running Win7 64 bit on a Toshiba L series Satellite w/8G RAM and 100 G HDD space. Error message was (-42404), but following a complete (recommended) uninstall am now getting "Error 7". The prior uninstall included the establishment of administrator rights to files and folders left in the Apple folder after running the uninstaller, and successfully removing ALL visible and hidden Apple files and folders.
Any other suggestions out there folks? On Oracle Metalink site, there are many documents which says that Oracle 32 bit software works on 32 bits OS and 64 bits software works on 64 bits OS. Official support is only in those combination....
So there is no good way to help you in your case-XE is 32 bit application with hard codded compiled libraries which most of them would not work on 64 bit OS.

Install of Flash 10 failing - "run preflight script" - Mac OS X 10.5.6
I tried to install Flash 10 - and it asks me to close the "Dashboard Client" of Mac OS X and after I click close on the flash install window, the installation fails. A message says that the failure occurs during "run preflight script" and to contact the software developer.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes or way around it?!Got the problem as well, a little bit frustrating, i have the problem with BOTH flash 10 and photoshop elements 3 why isn't adobe willing to help us? I think this is quite dissapointing when you take into account the software costs ±$100 I also have Mac OSX 10.5.7

IMac upgrade from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks errors by failing to restart computer........after install message states that "your computer is restarting in x seconds"...then window appears that "application install OS x Mavericks failed to quit"...try to log out again, quit install OS x Mavericks and choose apple menu to log out...........this does not work!
Are you running OS X Server (the forum this question was posted in), or are you running OS X? If you're not sure what that difference is and why I'm asking it, then you're probably running OS X and are very likely not running OS X Server here.
Hopefully you have a pre-upgrade backup of your data, on the off chance something has either already gone badly wrong already, or if something goes wrong with the following...
To force the quit here and to force the shutdown here, press and hold the power button for ~10 seconds.
If you don't have a backup already and if the box doesn't reboot, then you'll want to boot from the 10.6 DVD (of OS X or OS X Server) and create a backup — it won't be a particularly good backup of the OS X or OS X Server system, but at least you'll have access to your own files and related data. This backup because recovering from a badly-failed upgrade might involve reinstalling OS X. -

Can't install CC package after failed initial installation - Mac OS X
Hi,
Recently my institution took the plunge and made the move to adopt Creative Cloud. As part of the switchover from CS5, I'm being used as one of the guinea pigs.
Upon first-time installation of the provided Creative Cloud package (which has installed correctly for others in my office), my iMac shut down, this obviously interrupting the installation. After restarting I Googled what to do and found forum entries on what files to remove (as there were some left over form the first installation) and followed them.
Unfortunately, when I try to install the package it fails with a generic message, and nothing is installed. I also can't run the uninstaller (same error).
Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated!Correct diagnosis. When I went back and downloaded the PowerPC version, it worked fine. The Intel version works fine on my MacBook Pro, too!

This appears to be an attempt to install the same architecture and
version of a package which is already installed. This installation
will attempt to overwrite this package.

Assembled 07 December 2005This patch has been obsoleted by 118833-24. Can you
install the later revision and let us know if you see
the same problems?turning back to the problem of 118833+zones: if I try to install the -24 or -23 in milestone single-user I have the old problem: pkgadd: ERROR: unable to create unique temporary file </etc/fs/nfs/mount5Ia4ty>: (30) Read-only file system in the zones. I assume, the patchadd starts the zones and not waits until the zone is online. On the old slow hardware it can bring this error message and, at least, the /etc/fs/nfs/mount will not be updated.
The workaround is not to install this patch automatically, start zones with boot -s, wait, until they are ready and then apply this patch. It's probably not very bad idea to start all active zones first and then apply patches. It spares time on slow and not very slow systems.

Two points of install where disk identification fails
I've been installing Arch every three months or so for the last year, on different machines, and each time, there's the same two failures. I thought I'd document them here and hope for advise on how to get around them, and/or some way to fix these failures in the install scripts.
I download ISOs and put on a large, FAT32 formatted USB stick, that also has the UEFI boot loader. This gets me to the main boot menu (boot i686, boot x86_64, run memtest, etc.)
When I then select to boot i686 or x86_64, I end up at the "waiting 30 seconds for ARCH_201212 to appear," but that label never appears.
(*1) How do I pass sufficient information from the main boot menu to this boot section so it knows how to identify the ISO device it's booting into?
At the command prompt, I can mount /dev/sdb1 (the FAT file system containing the ISO) on /mnt (after creating /mnt) and then mount the ISO using "mount -o loop" on /run/archlinux/bootmnt (I'm typing from memory -- I think this is the place.)
However, the label doesn't always appear here, and the script *only* looks for the label, not for the mount already being present.
(*2) How can I change the boot script that runs at this point to look for some sentinel file at the target mount location, rather than just wait for the label?
Once booting, I can move on to install various packages, chroot, genfstab, and all that good stuff. The Grub installation is somewhat poorly documented on the Arch Installation wiki, because the first part says "see system configuration" and the system configuration says "see first part" without actually discussing grub-install or anything...
However, when I come to the point of re-booting after installing grub, the boot fails. The reason for the boot failure is that grub is looking for a disk by UUID. The disk UUID it's looking for is not the actual disk UUID of my system partition (or any partition in my system.)
I don't know where the UUID it's using is coming from -- is it there from one of the maintainers? Is it the UUID of the ISO disk? Something else?
(*3) What do I need to change in my grub installation to make it actually look for the right boot device?
Finally: When I tell it to ignore the Linux UUID, grub-install fails, saying it can't get to the appropriate device at boot time. This was using grub-bios; I haven't tried grub-efi on this particular machine. I have my /boot ext3 partition on /dev/sda1, my / nilfs2 root partition on /dev/sda2, and my small swap partition on /dev/sda3.
Also, if I wanted to make changes to the install/boot scripts used by the bootable ISO, so they worked in this situation, what do I need to do to:
a) find the boot scripts used?
b) create a proper ISO?
Is there some set of packages and scripts I can install to create the bootable ISO medium simply, to get a reasonable turn-around time when testing?
Is there any documentation of how the boot scripts in this environment fit together, where they live, what their configurations are, etc?jwatte wrote:Thank You for your answer.
That page doesn't seem to talk at all about why grub installs looking for the wrong disk when rebooting.
It also doesn't talk about how these scripts start up or where I can find out about developing in them.
Given that I use memdisk on windows, I assumed the other sections aren't applicable .
I'll see if I find anything in the other sections and update the wiki if needed for clarity on part one of three.
I meant that it answers the question about labelling the usb installation media. (Either by labelling it or setting it up differently.)
The grub wiki page would be the place to look for information on grub. There have also been a lot of threads about the cannot-find-root on rebooting following grub installation. -

Installing FlexBuilder 2 fails!
Hi All,
FB2 is crashing during installation, Ctrl Alt Del doesn't do
it, I have to hard boot, sometimes even getting the Windows Blue
screen error during the installations, this happened to me before
with Beta 3 but I won the battle by deleting all refs from windows
registry and few more tweaking.
This time I think I am losing the battle because I did the
same thing uninstalling FB2_B3 and removing anything that deals
with Flex Builder in windows Registry and any directory that B3
might have left on. Before installing I stopped the CF Server,
Stopped the Antivirus software and still the same crash
Any help will be appreciated!

see Adobe Flex 2 Builder in the top left hand corner of the window
title. It will stay here overnight if I let it. When I try to run
the Flex 2 standalone installation file, it does the same thing:
comes to the window again the pauses infinitely... showing nothing
but grey. If I try and end the process my system freezes.
I did some legwork on my own and I believe the issue has
something to do with the Javascript or Java 2 Runtime Environment
because as soon as I try to end the javaw.exe process when the
installation is attempting to run the system locks up.
The Flex 2 Builder installs perfectly on my notebook...
however I'm not going to be using this for development /execution
purposes.
Is there any way to work around the bad installation
inferface and all the java code? Any manual way to install it? Does
this have anything to do with having a 64-bit processor? (this is
not x64 Windows either by the way).
Any suggestions/fixes would be great, I don't want to reboot
my X2 any more for this problem... please advise. I have also
installed the latest version of Java 2 Runtime Environment.
Hello Cookonium,
The solution I posted before was for Angelo's situation, as
he was getting stuck at the self-extracting zip stage. It sounds as
if the problem you're seeing is completely different.
The installer is written with InstallAnywhere, a java-based
IDE that allows us to deploy on many platforms, so there's no easy
way to avoid running the installer with java. I'm confident that we
can find a workaround for you though.
In your case, one possibility is that you have a corrupted
copy of the installer on that machine. If you check the number of
bytes in the file you're trying to run on that box, what number do
you see?
If that's not the root of it, my next guess is that it has
something to do with your configuration. You mention having a
64-bit processor, but that you're not running a 64-bit OS. Here are
some more details that will help:
- what's your exact processor configuration?
- which OS are you using (including any service packs)?
- do you have a default system Java Runtime Environment
configured? In other words, if you open a command window, and type
"java -version", what response do you get?
- did you have any beta versions of Flex Builder installed
previously on that machine?
- if you look in the temp folder I mentioned earlier in this
thread, do you find an installation log that you can send me?
I'll send you an email offline too, so that's it will be
easier for you to send me your log file, if you find one.

802.1x, Machine Authentication, Active Directory and eDirectory
Does anyone think this is feasible as a solution... Problem Definition. 1) Machines all use the netware Client and authenticate to eDirectory initially, then to AD. 2) I want to use ACS, not Free Radius. 3) I don't want to use a 3rd party supplicant.
