  • Install fms2 help

I'm installing fms2 for the first time on a Redhat EL4 server
(update 4). The install went pretty smoothly and I've started the
admin port up, but when I connect to the admin port (via IE or
Firefox) I get the following message:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    - <result>
    <level>error</level>
    <code>NetConnection.Connect.Rejected</code>
<description>Admin user requires valid username and
    password.</description>
    <timestamp>Tue 13 Mar 2007 02:47:23 PM
    CDT</timestamp>
    </result>
I'm pretty sure this points to something in an apache config.
What do I need to install or configure?
    thanks.

Did you create the admin user (for the Flash Server
software)? It looks like it is looking for that, as you wouldn't
want to be connecting as the admin user for RHEL4 to perform
administration on the software, only on the OS.

  • Install on RHEL5

    Hi,

    Yeah!!

  • Installing FMS on Webserver

    Hello .. I tried to install FMS2 on a Webserver, but I was a
    completely failure ;)
Can anyoner tell me, how I can install it, that it works ..
on my local server it works !!! Or does it only works on local
    server ???

Hi Seife aus karscht (am I right, this sounds a bit german
    - nope , FMS works great on remote servers...that's what it
does in several 100s (or even several 1000s ) of installations.
You claim yours does not work and you ask about the
    reasons.......
You should provide a bit more information than you did until
now. If you want to receive serious help this is necessary. This
forum is filled with helpfull people, but none of them (as far as I
know) is using a chrystal ball or simmilar. So, at the actual
state, nobody will be able to answer your request in a valuable
    way.
Drop some more details about the problem and describe what
you did. A good idea is to add information about the OS on wich you
installed FMS on and what Applikation refuses to work. Maybe you
received any error messages while installing FMS, or does your your
Application report any errors or tracebacks?
Maybe there is a logfile reporting details.... ?
Seei t from this perspective : What do you think is
necessary, if you like to help somebody in your situation ? What
would you request him/her to give to you.... ? Think it over and
post what you know. Maybe then, you find somebody helping you....(

  • Help on FMS2 streaming.

    Hi,
I managed to install FMS2 on a linux server, I can connect to
it by using the console, but I don't really know how to do what I
    need.
    My questions are:
    Where do the videos go?
could I stream a range of videos within a folder?
Do I need to Install an aplication?
    My goal is:
I have a mediaplayer embed on a web page that is used to
display several different videos, right now, this player is
progressive downloading the videos, but I would like it to stream
    them.
Can you guys point me to the right direccion?
    Thanks,
    -David

I am in the same boat, so answering this would help me as
    well.
Just installed on RHEL4, can't figure out how to stream.
Perhaps this is totally wrong, but here is what I tried:
    1. created a dir named test01 under applications.
    2. put a main.asc file in test01 (this file was generated by
    dreamweaver)
    3. created test01/streams
    4. created test01/streams/instance01
    5. put test01.flv file in instance01
    6. Loaded the admin console, found test01 in the application
list, clicked to start an instance named instance01.
    7. As soon as I hit 'enter' to submit the instance name, the
instance just goes away and the list is empty again. No error
    messages.
What I really want to do is stream a video. That is all.
Can I have a directory where steaming videos go, and I can
just upload more and more to that directory and have them
immediately become available? Do I need an "application" for this
or am I going about it all wrong? Is there any good documentation
    on this?

  • Help with "Admin user requires valid username and password" on fms2_console.swf page

Just installed FMS2 on Debian (etch, 2.16.5-1 kernel). When I
connect to localhost:1111/fms2_console.swf and get the infamous XML
output which includes the text, "Admin user requires valid username
and password." The *.xml and *.ini files haven't been touched after
installation. All four daemons (fmsedge, fmsmaster, fmscore,
fmsadmin) are running and listening on the correct ports.
Any tips? (I'm sure this is easy to solve...)
    Thanks.

    Hi,
FMIS 4.5 does not accept plain text password. Encrypt=false is no longer supported. See here for more information : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/configadmin/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f2926 bcf-7fed.html#WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f2926bcf-7e91
The value for SERVER.ADMIN_PASSWORD needs to be the encrypted string for your password. That should solve your problem.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Apurva

  • New Instance not working

I have just installed FMS2. I bring up the management
console, click view applications and then I click on new instance
so that I can define my application, but it doesn't do anything.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

You normally create a subdirectory for every new application
you develop since you are going to write some server-sided
    action-script (a file called main.asc).
After that you don't have to create any subdirs anymore. FMS
will create subdirs for each instance you if you are going to
record streams, but you might have to create a "streams" subdir. It
all depends a bit on the security-settings (user account, write
permissions etc) in the 'applications' directory of your FMS.

  • Stupid Newbie need help

    Good Day ..
    I've installed FMS2 ... copied application(ion) into the
application folder .. but any attempt to connect fails .. the uri
    I'm using is ..
    http://192.168.0.10/ion/SharedFiles/Precautions.flv
    any ideas ???

    quote:
I'm missing something very basic here ...
my client side code is ...
    theVid =
    "rtmp://192.168.0.10/ion/SharedFiles/Precautions.flv"
    NetCon = new NetConnection();
    NetCon.connect(null);
    NetStrm = new NetStream(NetCon);
    VidWin.attachVideo(NetStrm);
    NetStrm.play(theVid)
    if I bypass FMS e.g. theVid = "P:/Program
    Files/Macromedia/Flash Media Server
    2/applications/ion/SharedFiles/Precautions.flv"
    it works ...
the FMS management console sees the server .. the application
instance .. but I cannot get the client to connect .. ???
    Take a look man...
    if using FMS...
the var "thevid" has incorrect parameters...
in your case that sould be set as "Precautions" (w/o .flv)
    the NetCon.connect(null); should be
    NetCon.connect("rtmp://192.168.0.10/appName");
but if it's not using FMS you should not use RTMP on the vid
    variable, but use HTTP instead!
    good luck!

@http://forums.adobe.com/people/Chicohuman , if you are referring to your RTMFP issue that we are discussing on the other forum post, then that is entirely different from this one, because it is FMS 4.0 in your case (FMS 2.0 in this post's case) and its RTMFP in your case (RTMP in this case). Or are you saying you are also finding connection rejects with RTMP as well ?
I would like to know if the original problem of connection rejects are still happening with VHost being unavailable ?
    Thank you !

  • Configuration Directory Locations

I'm installing FMS2 on a linux server. I'd like to move the
    following two directories locations
    $INSTALL_DIR/conf
    /etc/macromedia/fms/services
as we tend to keep configuration information in a separate
directory structure and under revision control. It looks like I can
move the /etc dir and hand edit the startup script to pull from the
alternate location. However I've not found any documentation that
covers how to move the entire conf dir out of the install
directory. Is it possible to move it?

    I filed a bug report.

  • FMS2 Install,

First: I installed FMS onto my IIS web server. I selected all
the default settings. When I rebooted all my websites stopped, and
they would not restart. Later I found the problem, it was because
FMS was using port 80, and not letting IIS to run. I had to stop
the FMS service, so my IIS could start.
    What went wrong?
If ever get the above fixed, how can I stream FLV files.
    Please Help.
    Server :
    Flash media Server 2.0
Windows 2003 server web edition OS IIS
    Have Cold Fusion 8 running

Why not just disable port 80 on FMS and use only port 1935?

  • FMS2 on Linux almost working!

    Hi there,
I've been testing FMS2 on Linux (CentOS). I figured that
since CentOS is in essence RedHat that I shouldn't have any
trouble. The good news is that it all seems to have installed
nicely. When I attempt a ./fmsmgr list it gives me a couple
processes that are running and everything. I can even login to the
administrative system. The issue is rtmp service over 1935 isn't
responding. I attempted to connect with a simple application I
    wrote but it constantly fails.
So I checked the logs and I'm basically getting this:

I can start, restart the service and do everything without
harm. But it seems as if the server itself is failing when it's
initialized despite admin and other services running perfectly.
I'm wondering if I need to do something to Adaptor.xml or
    Vhost.xml. This is a fresh setup and I haven't touched/configured
anything. I'm not sure if I should be tweaking the
    configuration...assignging any IP addresses etc.
Also you sould know that this is a shared host with multiple
domains on the same system. So I'm not sure if that will effect it
    at all.
Your help is greatly appreciated, I really want to see this
    working on Linux,
    David

    Try:
    /opt/macromedia/fms/fmsmaster
If you see and error about libnspr4.so you'll need to install
some more RPMs. You can find my notes on installing FMS on linux

  • FMS2 Total Clients reach and FMS stop works

    Hi everybody,
I have developed one application using FMS2 and Flash CS3
    that creates a multi-publishing live stream. I am using FMS2 2.0.5
    r88 with license template 2500-25.pro.
    The application have two parts:
    Publisher (can be max 900 distinct users);
    Viewer (can be max 100 users);
After some “Publisher” client put its camera
online the application put it in idle mode waiting for some
“Viewer” client connect and ask to watch that stream.
In this moment the Publisher client start to publish the video
“LIVE” to the Viewer client and everything work good.
When the Viewer client disconnect then the Publisher client goes to
idle again and stop to sending the live stream into the FMS,
waiting for another Viewer client again.
So far so good the application works great until now.
The main problem is that one bug appear all days after 15
hours connected (around 15:00 to 16:00 hours) the app stops to send
any video to the Viewer client that only can see the blank video on
    the screen.
When this happened I saw the following info in the FMS2 Admin
    Panel:
FMS CPU is over 50% and its frequency almost linear in the
graphic, rather the start scenario where the frequency was like a
square-wave well formed and all streams was working good with good
    image.
Total Clients count 2500 or more
Active Clients count more than 750 – 1000 clients
connected (max license used is 2500)
    Rejected Clients around 10.
If I restart the application in the bug time the streams
start to work again, the FMS CPU goes to square-wave in the graphic
again jumping between 0 to 50% max, but some streams are swapped in
the server memory cause is possible call for a stream and get
another live, like a copy. The solution is to restart the FMS2
Server service and the FMS2 Admin services on the Windows Services
Panel and everything go back into normal condition.
I hope somebody can help me, because I don’t know if
the Total Clients is the problem or what I can do to avoid that
processing problem. In fact is so curious why the FMS CPU grow in
    the time also.
    Thank you everybody.
    Willismar.

    Hi...
Recently I asked for my business, buy the new version of
Flash Media Interactive Server 3.0 , because only this version can
handle multiple independent broadcastings. After buying and looking
for updates on the Adobe forum, I found that a similar problem
exists in the new version, but this problem is identified by Adobe
as a problem of Microsoft's Windows Server 2003.
‘The heavy use of Winsock programs may exhaust the
nonpaged pool memory of a Windows Server 2003-based computer.
Then I got one idea. Before install the new version I thought
in test the MSHotFix over the Media Server 2, but it doesn't
worked. As my idea did not work, then I installed the new version
and did its updates too, and after starting the application for the
first time, noticed that the square wave on the performance tab was
well defined at this time like never before.
During 15 days I only had the same problem once because a
peak in another application that runs on the same machine. After
that never had the problem again.
I think that the version 3 is much slower than the version
2, although better manipulate the connections. Anyway I am writing
my application again to try to optimize the performance of the CPU
and prevent the problem go back again some day.
The HotFix can be found here (

if you want to try with the FMS2, but I only got good results on
    the FMS3.
