Installing from CS1 to CS4 Premium Upgrade

Needing to upgrade at my home office.
I have had to go through support before, but two months later Leopard crashed, so I had to reformat loosing all applications.
Now I was told by tech support, finally getting through after giving up after waiting twice for 45 minutes each time.
And was told it's easy just call when you are at your home office.
So I did, but just ended up waiting and gave up as I work until 6pm, so 7pm they close central time.
I installed as a trial and remember faintly going through that process, b ut still only have a trial for much purchased copies.
I worked flawless last time, but I need to install again on the same computer that crashed.
Please help.

>Now, if only I didn't have to go through all of that just because I had installed and uninstalled a trial version of CS4 which left some registry entries . . .
That IS a pain in the ...
If you do a lot of testing, as I sometimes do, you might want to think about investing in another hard drive and some imaging software, both of which are pretty inexpensive (and are great insurance in case of disaster). I use a removable bay, too, so I can just plug in whatever drive I want, but that's more money. In any case, this allows me to have the advantages of a test platform without the need for a whole second computer, and I never have to put my production system at risk with trial software.
Even the imaging software alone would help. I use Acronis TrueImage which has a try-and-decide feature (which I don't use) that makes changes first in a virtual partition until you want to make them permanent, but just having an image of the machine before ANY new program is installed has been an occasional lifesaver -- images work even when System Restore doesn't, which in my case seems to be every time I really wish it would. :(

  • Acrobat will not accept license code after installing cs4 premium upgrade

We just upgraded to CS4 premium, from CS3 premium. In doing so acrobat replaced Acrobat 8 pro with Acrobat 9 pro.
All our tools only work in Acrobat 8 pro, so we unistalled the Acrobat 9 pro and the software will not accept the keys from the product boxes that was used to install the software. the 30 day trial period comes up where you can enter a number or buy "version 9".
Is there anything special to fix this mess that anyone has found?
We are a printing company and use tools from enfocus, quite, and other special plugins that only support up to version 8?
Before we totally uninstall CS4 premium we wanted to see if anyone else has had this issuse or knows who to get with at Adobe to get a key that will work for the licensed software.

  • Applications don't install from OSD after 2012 SP1 upgrade

After upgrading SCCM 2012 RTM to SP1, then to CU3 (to fix a PXE issue), my OSD task sequences no longer installs any applications after the OS.  Win7 installs with all drivers, the PC is added to the domain and the correct ConfgMgr client version is installed
with a healthy connection to SCCM.
However the C:\_SMSTaskSequence folder remains with the 7GB WIM file and none of the 12x applications installed.  A task sequence with the applications works when run from Software Centre.
Here's a link to the logs:
    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=F6A8637E6F70F676%21110
EDIT: Removed paste of smsts.log file.  Added Skydrive link.

Thanks for checking it out.  Those errors are old entries from a year ago.  Not sure why they are still there; current issue date is 14-01-2014.  Network Access account is set and permissions are correct.
The TS logs look fine up to after installing the ConfigMgr client.  It then kicks off TSMBootStrap.exe:
    ==============================[ TSMBootStrap.exe ]==============================
    Command line: "C:\Windows\CCM\TSMBootstrap.exe" /env:Gina /configpath:C:\_SMSTaskSequence /bootcount:1
    Logging successfully initialized.
Resuming Task Sequence in Full OS
It then logs a whole bunch of:
Failed to open key Software\Microsoft\SMS\47006C006F00......  \SMSTS
then ends it with Exiting with return code 0x80070002 which is:
"The system cannot find the file specified."
And that's the end of the TS.  I need to find out what file it's referring to.  TSMBootStrap.exe exists in the correct path.

  • CS1 to CS4 in a single leap

Working on iMac 20" Leopard OS, 3GB RAM.
From what I read, I should not have been able to install CS1 let alone work with it. At this point however, it's time to buy CS4. Some of the forums talk about difficulty working with legacy documents in CS4.
Does anyone have any experience making the transition from CS1 to CS4?
Will it work, what problems might I expect?
    Thanks.
    Deborah

Yes, there may be text reflow, but it's not necessarily as bad as it could be.
If CS1 text is in a frame that is not edited in CS4, the text will stay put.
It's only if/when you click to edit the text will the new algorithm take effect.

  • Web Premium Upgrade CS4 to CS5 - no need to re-install Acrobat Pro?

Just received Web Premium Upgrade package today. Currently have CS3 Web Standard. and CS4 Web Premium installed so will be removing CS3 Standard before attempting CS5 upgrade. My question concerns Acrobat Pro 9, perhaps obviously given the forum I'm posting in! :-) Would I be correct in assuming that given I have an up-to-date version of Acrobat Pro 9 installed as part of CS4 I can ignore the CS5 Acrobat installation? That's based on an associated assumption that the upgrade package is intended to also cover upgrades from CS4 Standard and other suites that did not include Acrobat Pro.

Apologies; answered my own question! From the CS5 installation instructions (online, not provided with installation package) "If you already have Acrobat 9 Pro installed, either as part of a suite or as a standalone application, you do not need to reinstall it." From http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/825/cpsid_82596.html

  • Upgrading to CS5 Premium from CS4 Premium

You might want to ask in the forums for the products that you are experiencing issue with. This forum is for suite specific issues only and you're not likely to get much attention here.

  • Upgrading from Cs3 to Cs4

    Hello,
I am upgrading to CS4 from the CS3 design premium, and was
wondering how to get rid of all the CS3 programs with out deleting
all my extensions in Dreamweaver, all my components is Flash and so
on. It seems as if all the programs don't actually have an
unistaller in the design premium. Should I just throw them in the
trash... I don't think so, but I'm not sure. if any of you have any
ideas I would love to hear them.
    Thanks for your time.

Just go ahead and instal CS4, it will install to a new folder
    anyway.
Once you are sure that the new version has picked up all your
    site files,
extensions (you have to enable them in the new version), you
    can go ahead
    and delete CS3.
PS I would also make a backup of all the site definitions
    before doing
    anyway too :-)

  • Upgrading from MX2004 to CS4

I have currently my work copy of CS3 Web Premium installed on
    my home office
computer, as I work from both. I am planning to leave my
    employer and have
bought my own license of CS4 Design Premium (upgrading from
    my own MX2004
Studio). I'll remove CS3 and then install CS4. I have the
    license key of
MX2004 Studio, will that be enough to install CS4 as an
    upgrade? I really
don't want to have to install the whole MX suite just for
    that reason. Also,
is there a special uninstall file available that removes CS3
    completely?
Thanks for any help with this.
    M..

No you don't have to re-install the old version to install
the new. Entering your serial number will suffice.
As far as a special tool, there is a CS3 Clean tool (quick
Google search for "CS3 Clean" will bring you right to it), but I
wouldn't recommend it if the uninstaller works.

  • CS4 suite install from CS2

I've got CS2 standard installed. I tried to install the CS4 standard upgrade
but the installer was looking for a CS3 product. The eligibility clearly
says CS, CS2, and CS3. Why is the installer looking only for CS3?

Although the cost of upgrading is currently the same for CS1 and CS2 as CS3 I think you have to order a different product number from the CS3 to CS4 upgrade. Did you select the correct qualifying product when ordering the upgrade?
After February 2009 it will cost more to upgrade from CS1/CS2 to CS4

  • Can I go "CS4(Japanese Ver)" from "CS1 Educational Ver.(English Ver.)??

    Hi guys~
    I need your help!
I am currently using Adobe CS1 Premium (Educational / English Version).
I purchased this like 6years ago while I was still a student in the US.
My PC is a G5 Power mac and the OS is in English.
The problem is that now I got a CS4 Design Standard upgrade (Japanese Version).
So what I wanted to know is if It's possible to upgrade to CS4(Japanese Ver) from CS1 Educational Ver.(English Ver.)
I haven't open the upgrade package yet because I am afraid it's not gonna work.
I have heard and read opinions from both sides I now I'm really confused and don't know what to do...!!
Please help. I know I can trust in you guys!
    Thank you!!

As long as you are upgrading from Mac version to Mac version it should be fine.

  • Need to Re-activate CS4 after upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 (32 bit)

I have a laptop running Vista 32-bit with Lightroom 2.7 and Photoshop CS4 installed.  I'm planning to upgrade the computer from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 32-bit, upgrading in place to avoid having to reformat and reinstall all the software.  Will Photoshop still be activated after the upgrade or will I need to re-activate it?  If I need to reactivate, will the OS change make the activation process think the software has been moved to a new computer?  It is currently activated on two machines (one of which is this laptop) as it is and don't want the activation wizard to think I'm putting it on third machine in violation of the license.  Should I de-activate it before upgrading the OS and then re-activate once the system upgrade is complete?  After the OS change I plan to upgrade the Adobe software to Lightroom 3 and PS CS5 - does the activation of CS4 even matter in that case?  Anyone done a Vista->Win7 upgrade in place and offer any suggestions?

You are a brave man indeed, John.
An in-place upgrade is still a bad idea though.

  • Tx2120us, upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I wonder if there's anyone out there who has managed to sucessfully upgrade his/her HP tx2120us tablet PC from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate or to do a fresh Windows 7 ultimate install on a HP tx2120us tablet PC.
I purchased a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit edition AND a 320GB 7200rpm hard drive and started a fresh Windows 7 installation. After the installation was done, the network adapters fixed and wireless were working. I also managed to install the Audio drivers for the built in realtek audio adapter. Even the touchpad, touchscreen and pen seem to work but then I stopped after several attempts to install a suitable display driver for the NVIDIA G-Force video adapter. The resolution with my Vista OS is 1280 x 800 but the default Windows 7 OS only provides a generic 1064 x 768 resolution and not any download from HP could install a suitable NVIDIA driver for Windows 7.
As I stopped there I don't even know if there is a driver for the card reader or the Light Scribe DVD burner and whatever is buit in into this tx2120us.
I'd really very much appreciate if someone who had succeeded with the installation of Win 7 Ultimate 64bit on the tx2120us could provide me with working drivers or the links to them.
    thanks

Palm does not support 64-bit Vista for cabled Hotsyncs.
There is a huge Vista64 bit thread at the top of this section explaining your options - BlueTooth Hotsync is about the only way you can procede with a Centro.
