Hi
You cannot dynamically resize filesystems unless you have some disc managagement software
running ( eg Solstice Disksuite, Veritas Volume Manager ).
If you do not have disk management software, you will probably have to dump all the filesystems
to tape or another server using something like ufsdump, repartition your disk and then restore the
filesystems back.
You can find good FAQs on Disk Suite or Veritas at docs.sun.com.

  • Install gcc 3.2.3 on Solaris 9

Have installed Sol 2.9 on a SparcStation 4, now trying to get GCC onto it. However, the "make bootstrap" command from the html documentation does not work. It asks for a valid copy of 'cc' which I do not have, which was the reason I am trying to install gcc - and is starting to become a circular argument.
gcc was downloaded from sunfreeware.com. Their instructions for non-compilation installation of gcc are vague at best.
Can anyone provide me with the info on whats required to instal this package?
Thanks, Ian Dennison (HP-UX Certified SysAdmin)

Set your environment variable CC=gcc or edit the Makefile or config file that would have the line
for the compiler to use. either cc or gcc.

  • How to install GCC and DKMS on Oracle Linux?

    Hello,
I am a newbie to Oracle Linux. I installed Oracle Linux on a virtual machine using Oracle VirtualBox. Now I need to install the packages DKMS and GCC in order to share drives between the host and the ghost.
    Here is what is happening:
    # yum install dkms
    Setting up Install Process
    Setting up repositories
No Repositories Available to Set Up
Reading repository metadata in from local files
    Parsing paskage install arguments
    No Match for afgument: dkms
    Nothing to do
    Please, advice what to do.
    Thanks in advance.

Here is what you need to install under Oracle Linux or Red Hat Enterprise Linux to install the VirtualBox Guest Additions:
    <pre>yum -y install gcc kernel-uek-devel-$(uname -r)</pre>
The packages are available from the Oracle public yum repository as already mentioned, or on the installation DVD in the server directory.

  • [SOLVED] Can't install gcc-ecj!

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong session, it seemed the most appropriated to me.
I need to install pdftk, and gcc-gcj is one of its dependencies. I tried to install pdftk through yaourt, but it failed after almost 30 minutes of compiling, so I decided to "go neanderthal" and install it almost by brute force, checking the aur web page for pdftk and downloading and installing the dependencies tarballs.
First, when I try to install gcc-ecj through AUR, I got a simple error message:
    [eduardo@Tardis ~]$ cd aur-mirror/gcc-gcj
    [eduardo@Tardis gcc-gcj]$ ls
    PKGBUILD
    [eduardo@Tardis gcc-gcj]$ makepkg -si
==> ERROR: install file (gcc-gcj.install) does not exist.
So I downloaded the tarball from this page (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gcc- … mments=all) and tried to install. It failed also, but it gave me a lot of output to pinpoint the problem. The output was:
    [eduardo@Tardis gcc-gcj]$ makepkg -si

The ggc-gcj PKGBUILD doesn't quote variables correctly, resulting in failure when directory names have spaces in them like on your system.
Look for lines like this :
    make -j1 DESTDIR=${pkgdir} install-target-libjava
if you change all references to variables to something like this, it should work :
    make -j1 DESTDIR="${pkgdir}" install-target-libjava

I installed GCC 3.3 and db.h was already in /usr/include/db.h

  • Trying to install gcc with Command Line Tools - Mountain Lion

I am trying to update the CUDA driver for an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 card. To do that, I need gcc installed.
It appears I have not been able to install gcc, and I need help doing this.
I am a newbie to both Terminal commands and to updating CUDA drivers, so please bear with me.
I am running Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on a dual quad core Mac Pro (mid 2010 model).
I have been following the guide here:
    http://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/cuda-getting-started-guide-for-mac-os-x/index.html
To install gcc w/o having to install Xcode (I don’t need all of Xcode and so don’t want it installed), I downloaded the “Command Line Tools (OS X Mountain Lion) for Xcode – November 2012” from the Apple Developer Downloads page:
    xcode452cltools10_86938211a.dmg
I also downloaded the “Mac OS X CUDA 5 Production Release” from the NVIDIA Developers Download page:
    cuda_5.0.36_macos.pkg
I installed the Command Line Tools, and then installed the CUDA 5 Release (driver, toolkit, samples). Both installed successfully.
To verify that gcc was installed, I entered the Terminal command (the guide above says this is how I check):
    /usr/bin/gcc –-help
    The resulting message was:
i686-apple-darwin11-llvm-gcc-4.2: –-help: No such file or directory
    i686-apple-darwin11-llvm-gcc-4.2: no input files
I take it this means I did not successfully install gcc.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong.
NOTE: The steps below may not be of interest to you, since they are steps to verify the CUDA driver was updated (once gcc is successfully installed).
But I included them in the post, in case they are helpful..
I went to “Define the environment variables”.
    I entered the command
    export PATH=/Developer/NVIDIA/CUDA-5.0/bin:$PATH
    I got no message
    I then entered the command:
    export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/Developer/NVIDIA/CUDA-5.0/lib:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH
    I got no message
To verify that the CUDA kernel extension is loaded, I then entered the command:
    kextstat | grep -i cuda
    I got this message:
    123 0 0xffffff7f81e69000 0x2000 0x2000 com.nvidia.CUDA (1.1.0)
I then checked the CUDA Toolkit version by entering the command:
    nvcc –V
    I got the message:
nvcc: NVIDIA (R) Cuda compiler driver
    Copyright (c) 2005-2012 NVIDIA Corporation
    Built on Fri_Sep_28_16:10:16_PDT_2012
Cuda compilation tools, release 5.0, V0.2.1221
To change the directory, I then entered:
    cd /Developer/NVIDIA/CUDA-5.0/samples
Then to compile the samples, I entered:
    make
    The resulting message was:
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'.

To run the binaries, I changed the directory by entering:
    cd /Developer/NVIDIA/CUDA-5.0/samples/C/bin/darwin/release
    and then entered
    deviceQuery
    I got the message:
-bash: cd: /Developer/NVIDIA/CUDA-5.0/samples/C/bin/darwin/release: No such file or directory

    (1) When I typed in the command
    /usr/bin/gcc –v
    I got this response:
    Using built-in specs.
    Target: i686-apple-darwin11
    Configured with: /private/var/tmp/llvmgcc42/llvmgcc42-2336.11~67/src/configure --disable-checking --enable-werror --prefix=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr/llvm-gcc-4.2 --mandir=/share/man --enable-languages=c,objc,c++,obj-c++ --program-prefix=llvm- --program-transform-name=/^[cg][^.-]*$/s/$/-4.2/ --with-slibdir=/usr/lib --build=i686-apple-darwin11 --enable-llvm=/private/var/tmp/llvmgcc42/llvmgcc42-2336.11~67/dst-llvmCore/Deve loper/usr/local --program-prefix=i686-apple-darwin11- --host=x86_64-apple-darwin11 --target=i686-apple-darwin11 --with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/include/c++/4.2.1
    Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.2.1 (Based on Apple Inc. build 5658) (LLVM build 2336.11.00)
Does this say I successfully installed gcc? 4.2.1 is the latest version?
If I have successfully installed the latest version of gcc, then my problem lies with the installation of the CUDA driver.
If your command worked, then the NVIDIA "CUDA Getting Started Guide" doc I referenced above, which I am following, is just incorrect.
    (2) I then went through the same steps as above, and got the same responses, until I got to the "make" command. This time I entered
    make clean
    And I got the response:
    rm -f asyncAPI asyncAPI.o
    rm -f cdpSimplePrint cdpSimplePrint.o

  • How to install GCC or use Forte C++

    Hello!
I want to compile the Wine (Windows Emulator) for Solaris 9 (x86). One way is that I install gcc 3.2, and the other is to use the FORTE C++ compiler provided by Sun Microsystems. Now, I have downloaded the gcc-3.2 source code from the sunfreeware.com. But I am unable to install the gcc compiler.
Please guide me (or any reference) to some easy installation methods for gcc, or else, tell me the way, I could use the Forte C++ compilers, provided by SUN. I am unable to find a way to use the Forte.

  • How to install gcc compiler on mac

how to install gcc compiler om macair( 2013) ?
        THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!

In OS X, GCC is part of Xcode's command tools, so first, open the Mac App Store and install Xcode for free.
Then, open Xcode, go to Xcode menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Downloads, and install Command Line Tools. You will get commands like gcc, make, purge...

How about following the instructions at http://public-yum.oracle.com
Delete whatever gcc package you have download and saved to your local directory, then try:
    yum install gcc

  • Problem installing gcc-multilib

    Hi all,
I am trying to install lib32-jpeg7 from AUR but I am getting
an error that the system needs gcc-multilib.
I then go to /etc/pacman.conf and add the following lines:
    [multilib]
    Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
    I then do pacman -Syy
and that's what I get back
error: failed retrieving file 'multilib.db' from ftp.archlinux.org : File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access)
    What should I do?
    Thanks in advance

I've downloaded the demo of sunblast
    http://www.sunblastthegame.com/download.php
After I untar it on to my home folder
    it says this:
    [konos@archBox sunblast_demo_linux32]$ ./sunblastdemo
./sunblastdemo: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So I googled the library and found that it belongs to the lib32-libjpeg package which I tried to download with yaourt.
Yaourt then complained that it needs gcc-multilib to build it and cancelled the operation!
So.. I figured out that I have to manually install gcc-multilib first and then lib32-libjpeg with yaourt in order to make it work..!
P.S. @Karol: I 've already installed the package you are suggesting
