Installing HDMI

Is there a way i can install an HDMI port on my HP so that i can hook it up to my 42" 1080p tv? If so, how do i do it and how much would it cost?
drock

There is not a good solution but you could use a usb video adapter like this:
Cinema adapter
When I tried to track this thing down I could not find a live actual for sale example.
If you need an hdmi port it is best to sell your laptop and buy one that has what you need.

  • HDMI Driver Missing/Cannot install HDMI Control Manager

I have a satellite M645-S4070 with OS Windows 7 (64bit). My HDMI port recently stopped working, first the sound now the display altogether, in an attempt to locate it in device manager it appears to be missing. I assumed I could reinstall the driver for it, but only found the HDMI Control Manager download; hoping that would help I attempted to install it and it starts up, then shuts down immediately. I am not sure if I am even attacking the problem correctly, but if anybody has had a similar problem and may know what is going on any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Please do not tell me after my warranty, literally, just expired that the HDMI port has failed me...
Side Note: The HDMI cable does in fact work

I have done 2 system reinstalls. Both times the first time I tried the HDMI port worked great! The 2nd time I attempted to use it, it did not work once again. I have gone and tried to right click repair on the HDMI control manager and it tells me I cannot fix something that is not instlled... So, I attempted to right click run as admin and it tells me ***IS_STRING_NOT_DEFINED***. I have no clue what this means, but I assume it has something to do with the install shield not working properly. I can't see this as a hardware malfunction considering it works and then it doesn't.

  • After Yosemite install, sound button on MacBook Pro doesn't work-stuck at full volume or Mute. Can't adjust slider in preferences, or use volume button on keyboard.

Just installed Yosemite on my MacBook Pro 15", Retina display, early 2013 build. After installation, I cannot adjust volume for speakers. It is either completely off (muted) or on a FULL VOLUME. Neither the speaker volume buttons on the keyboard or the Sound Output slider on the Systems Preferences works. The slider does not move from full volume and the speaker buttons do nothing. This is just awful--can't get any sound except at full volume which is ear-splitting.

Talked to Apple Support. The support person took a bit, but figured out that Yosemite changes the sound output default to the installed HDMI display speakers--and the Mac does not control those speakers. This recurs every time there's a restart. The Solution is to go to System Prefs>Sound and change the OUTPUT device to the Internal Speakers on the Mac. Then sound controls work perfectly. This has to be done every time the system restarts, at least until Apple sends out a fix for this bug.
If you have an external device attached with speakers, apparently the Mac wants to make that default output device. Note that in my system on the list of output devices, the Internal Speakers are the first in the list...that generally is the "default" output device--but Yosemite doesn't recognize that and makes the HDMI device default output.
Not perfect, but now that I know the fix, I can live with it until there's a permanent fix from Apple.

  • Satellite A200-1T8: Cannot enable HDMI

    Hi
I have install hdmi on my laptop Satellite A200-1T8 with Win 7 32BIT and any time i open it, it tell's me 'you must enable hdmi '
If i go to hdmi control, the enable is there but i can't click to make it enable.
Can some please tell me what to do, to enable it .
    thank to you all

    Hello
    > and any time i open it,
    What do you open exactly?
For me it sounds like that you have disabled HDMI in BIOS as Paolo30 wrote. Check the BIOS and enable HDMI.
Furthermore if you have installed Windows 7 32bit that was not delieved with your notebook make sure that display driver from official Toshiba page is installed.

  • Volume can't be adjusted when external screen is attached

After the OS update of Yosemite my volume on my macbook pro can't be adjusted when the external video by HDMI is attached.
It seems that the control of sound is transferred to the external screen, unfortunately my screen volume can only be set by changing the settings on the screen menu and this is not an friendly task. Also fast muting is than not possible
    No ide to solve this!
    Kind regards,
    Luuk

Yosemite upgrade changes sound output from default to installed HDMI display speakers. But Mac does not control these speakers. So this issue might happened.
If you have any external device which is attached with speakers, Mac wants to make that output device.
Go to System Preferences  -> Sound and change the output device to Internal speakers.

  • My trial of AMD Catalyst 12.3 and 12.2 pre-certified driver on Macbook Pro 2011 early

I would like to share my experience on installing AMD catalyst 12.3 and 12.2 pre-certified driver on macbook pro 2011 early. Before installing the drivers, I first used catalyst install manager to remove the previously installed driver and then driver sweeper to clean the residuals. After the cleaning process, the macbook pro simply backed to VGA display.
Unfortunately, the setup programs of these two drivers showed different behaviors. The 12.2 pre-certified setup program could detect the 6750M chip and install AMD display driver. You can tell the behavior by watching the messages shown during the installation process. Nevertheless, AMD seemed change the behavior the setup program. The program did not install the display driver & CCC but still continued to install HDMI/DP driver and other stuffs.
In short, if somebody wants to install 12.3, he definitely needs some extra tricks to do so.

Boot into Safe Mode for a while to see if the panics cease. Meanwhile you need to upgrade Parallels to the current version, 7.x. If you are using the USB to Ethernet adaptor then unplug it along with any other peripherals. Uninstall LittleSnitch, Ambrosia extension, and VaraAudio extension (or uninstall the software that installed them using their uninstallers.)

  • Did the display message feature in Balcberry Protect ever work?

I managed to locate my bbQ5 on protect and turn on the soun and lock it but the display message featrure in protect does not work.  It keeps saying loading but never does.
    Any suggestions?

    Here's the pithy bottom line:
    1. I installed 10.6.0 on the MacPro while the TV was plugged in via HDMI 1. After that install, HDMI 1 stopped working with Mac computers.
    2. Erased and installed 10.5.8 on the MacPro, but HDMI 1 still didn't work. I plugged into the TV HDMI 2 and it worked.
    3. Reinstalled 10.6.0 on the MacPro while the TV was plugged in via HDMI 2. After that install, HDMI 2 stopped working with Mac computers.
Conclusion: My theory remains that the 10.6.0 installer somehow made the TV's HDMI Inputs not work with Macs.
The empirical data upon which I base this hypothesis is that if I plug ANY Mac into the TV now, I get "no signal". I've tried 3 different Macs using different OS versions and different architectures. No matter what, the only devices that don't work via HDMI are the Macs. All other devices work fine:
TV HDMI from MacPro 3,1 10.6.2 / Result: No Signal
TV HDMI from PowerMac G5 10.4.11 / Result: No Signal
TV HDMI from MacBook Pro(1) 10.5.8 / Result: No Signal
TV HDMI from MacBook Pro(2) 10.6.1 / Result: No Signal
TV HDMI from MacBook Pro under Boot Camp, Windows XP SP3 / Result: No Signal
TV HDMI from Gateway GT5628 Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit / Result: 720P and 1080i work fine
TV HDMI from DIY Windows XP SP3 / Result: 720P and 1080i work fine
TV HDMI from Toshiba DVD player/recorder D-KR10 / Result: 480P works fine
If I plug different monitors into the Macs via HDMI, they all work fine. Only the TV that was plugged in at the time of both 10.6.0 installs has stopped working.
Note: All of the above testing above was done with the same DVI to HDMI cable. The results are consistent, so it's not the cable.
Anyone else have a similar experience? I'd love to hear about it.
    Thanks!

Your computer has Integrated Graphics using GeForce 7100 chipset and
has D-Sub (VGA) and DVI ports on back I/O panel.
    ===
DVI stands for "Digital Video Interface." DVI uses a series of pins to send high-quality digital video signals from one source to another. If you look on the back of your computer you'll probably see a DVI port. While this interface provides high visual output, it does not typically provide any audio. If you need to get audio from your computer tower to your monitor, for example, you'll have to attach a separate cable to transfer audio.
High-definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), on the other hand, does carry an audio signal along with the video signal. HDMI is a step up from DVI because of the audio signal it can carry. HDMI also uses a smaller connector than DVI, so it leaves room for other ports and inputs/outputs. Many manufacturers are beginning to install HDMI ports on their computers.
No conversion is necessary when going from DVI to HDMI. The digital signals provided by each port are compatible with one another. Converting a signal almost always results in some sort of loss of quality, but using a DVI to HDMI adapter cable, like the Cables To Go SonicWave, will keep the digital information pure. This means that you'll get high-resolution images on your computer monitor or you can connect your computer to a high-definition television and keep the image crisp and clear.
    ===
Purchase a DVI to HDMI adapter cable at your local computer retail store.

  • Could i install a hdmi or video card on a hp 600 all in one mine did not come with one ?

My hp touchsmart 600 all in one did not come with a hdmi or rca port only coax port.
Could i install  one or how could i play my xbox on it? it has a delay that dont let you play the game. help

    Hello @kingdavid1977,
I understand that you are looking for a graphics card for your computer. Although I cannot recommend a specific card for you I can tell you this. According to the HP TouchSmart 600-1350 Desktop PC Product Specifications you have an open Mobile PCI Express Module (MXM 3.0) socket available on your computer and as long as you install a card that meets that slot you should be able to get your game console to connect.
I hope this helps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • 10.5.6 Install caused MBP to crash when connecting HDMI monitor

I just installed 10.5.6 via software update (on accident,) and now my MBP locks up every time I connect my HDTV to my DVI port via a DVI to HDMI connector. Both screens (my laptop and HDTV screen) turn blue, sometimes the laptop screen just gets a blue overlay over the desktop. Every time I connect I have to hard reset the machine.
I have a 15in MBP, 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo w/2GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 8600M. My TV ran off my MBP just fine before I installed the update, and now it just crashes.
I tried re-installing the 10.5.6, and also ran applejack, but nothing is making it work. Any thoughts on how I can fix this without restoring my computer? I don't back up my system files, so I cannot use time machine just to go back. Obviously the 10.5.6 update did something with the graphics drivers / software; I was hoping someone could help me fix this issue.
    Thanks!

If you have cloned the drive with CCC check the log files if something has gone wrong. Without using CCC just synchronize all accounts, though this only works when you use IMAP.
