Installing help, cant install Adobe Reader/Acrobat Error 2402

Ive been using Adobe Reader for awhile now as many of you have however when i wasnt able to install the latest 1.104 update i wondered why.
Kept getting Error message 2402 Out of Memory.
So i tried deleting older versions of Reader as with much success was able to remove it from Control Panel with Microsoft FixIt, then with CCleaner program was able to remove from my Registery.
After a fresh reboot i went back to Adobe.com i tried installing ReaderX on both the latest versions of Firefox (main web browser) and Internet Explorer both not being able to finish the install due to Error 2402. I also tried a free trial of AcrobatX, same outcome as expected. I enjoy being able to view PDF files for both home use and college and without Reader it makes that difficult.
I also tried installing Version 9.5, same result
Any help is more than appriecated, im not too techie but i will try to provide any additional info i can

    HELP!

If you are seeing that when trying to download and view a PDF in a Browser, then you need to open the Adobe Reader program from the Applications folder and accept the license agreement. If you are getting that when trying to open the Adobe Reader application, then you should ask Adobe.

  • Adobe Reader/Acrobat Is not Installed

I get an error on machines on our work network that says Adobe Reader/Acrobat is not installed. However most cases it is installed on the machine and in most cases it turns out to be the 8.1.1 version of Adobe reader. So what we have noticed is that the permissions do not seem to be right with the .pdf file extention. We manually add the users, power users group to the file extention and then we grant them full control over the extention and in most cases that as well will not work. The next step would be to uninstall 8.1.1 Adobe reader and then reboot. Upon the restart we will log on and install the 8.1.2 update. Sometimes this works but then again I have noticed that the users, power users group is not in the .pdf file extention. Then we will add them in and yet the user will still have the same error message. We have fun out of ideas and the other bad scenario is that this is free software and its very difficult to get support for. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi snoreaustralia,
It sounds like you just need to associate the PDF filename extension with Acrobat, rather than Preview. Please see this document from the Microsoft Help for instructions on choosing the default program for opening a particular file type (in your case, PDF): Change which programs Windows uses by default - Windows Help

Don't use the download manager.  Give us the version you want and the platform, and someone will give you a direct download link.
Or download your installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Cant open PDF files. Cant open Adobe Reader x

Hi, I am running windows xp pro. I am having trouble opening PDF files and I cant open adobe reader x. I have uninstalled several times and reinstalled. I have stoped all antivirus services.

Could you please elaborate a bit more as to what happens when you open a PDF. Do you get some sort of an error or dialog? If so, please post the contents of the same.
Also, please let me know the version of Reader installed on your system. You can find the same by clicking on Help > About Adobe Reader from within the Reader application.

  • Adobe reader fatal error

After install Adobe reader getting next fatal error message: Acrobat failed to load its core dll. Please help to fix that issue? Can not open Acrobat reader because of that fatal error.
The OS used is win xp sp3; version of Adobe reader installed is X (10.1.3)

Hi to All participants of this Adobe reader fatal error discussion!
Claudio - thanks for your additional advice, but unfortunately the comments on the web site you provided state next:
Project has been abandoned. You can now use Microsoft FixIt for this problem.
And we already did try to use Microsoft FixIt (per your previous note) and it did not solve the problem.
Pat - thanks for your advice. We use Norton AntiVirus provided by Symantec.
When temporary disable it - we get the same Adobe reader fatal error and the appl. is not opening.
Do you have any other ideas to fix this issue with Adobe reader?

  • Adobe Reader Updater - Error 1402. Could not open key:

Adobe Reader Updater, error 1402, could not open key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Opt
I might have accidently discontinue. Can any body help me????

    Hi,
It  looks like you do not have access to the registry key mentioned i.e.  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current  Version\Run\Optional Components\IMAIL.
This might be due to  the fact that you may not be added to the Administrators group or the  registry key has been denied access explicitly to a group that you may  be part of.
People in my network setup were facing the same issue,  and we fixed the same using Microsoft's "subinacl" tool. You can follow  the below mentioned steps to rectify your issue as well:
    1. Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
    2. Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
    3. Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start -> Run and type "cmd" and click OK)
    4. In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
        i. cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (Hit Enter)
       ii. subinacl  /subkeyreg  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Opti  onalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f  /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)
You  should see some processes happening on your screen. After the process  ends, retry the update operation you were originally trying to perform.  Hopefully, it should succeed now.

  • Adobe Reader/Acrobat Printing Issues - Weird Fonts / Characters - all versions

    Hi everybody.
I'm experiencing a very nasty issue with both adobe reader (last version) and acrobat.
When I print something with text, i get only strange characters, mostly symbols.
I cannot get out of this, I tried everything.
    Already tried
    1) print as image does not works, it's the same
    2) the box in pdf printer " print only with fonts on pc" is checked
    3) reinstalled both adobe applications
    3) reinstalled printer drivers
    4) i've installed and reinstalled those so called missing fonts but nothing
Next step is to change PDF reader. Any help?

    unfortunately it didn't work.
It's weird how an application (company) like this could not provide those kind of such easy fixes. I'm not expecting updates or so, but at least a troubleshooting paragraph about this specific problem.
This problem is well known, there are plenty of pages talking about it.
I just installed Foxit reader and printed pages were perfect. This demonstrate's Adobe Reader/Acrobat fault.
