    Hi Redbone7.
I understand you're looking for instructions on how to install your Deskjet printer now that you have a new hard drive. I'd be happy to help you with this!
In order to find you the right drivers though, I do need to know which model of Deskjet you have and if you're using Windows or Mac. Once I know those two pieces of information I will be able to post back with either a link to the drivers or a link on how best to install your printer.
I look forward to hearing back from you, have a great day!!

  • Hot to install HP DeskJet 710C (LPT Port) on Solaris 10?

    Hi.
I'm trying to install HP DeskJet 710C printer on LPT port.
There is no such model in the list of Printer Administrator.
I tryed few models on /dev/lp1 and /dev/ecpp0 but with all I get message "out of service".
    Printer is fully functional.
Is there solution to make this printer working on Solaris 10?

    Hello Everyone,
I know this is an old post, but this might be of some interest to folks trying to set up a local printer under Solaris 10 and the Developer edition. There is a bug that prevents the ecpp driver_alias from being created under /etc/driver_alias. The workaround to get the driver_alias created is as follows. As root (su -) in terminal
    update_drv -a -i "lp" ecpp
reboot the machine and you'll have the driver alias for ecpp present in /etc/driver_alias along with an entry in the print manger under Printer Port for /dev/printers/0
Here's a link describing the bug:

  • Unable to install printer Deskjet 6122 on windows 7 (64bit)

I bought a new HP Pavilion Model HPE h8-1237c running Windows 7 Professional (64bit). I’m not having any luck at trying to install my old HP Deskjet 6122 printer. Drivers on disk and newer downloaded ones are not compatible with the 64 bit OS. HP suggests installing drivers for Deskjet 990c as alternative. That didn't work either. This new computer only has USB ports and not the old parallel one like my old Pentium 4 Windows XP computer. The printer does have a USB hookup, but windows doesn't install the printer as plug and play since there are no drivers available. I've tried installing it running Windows Virtual PC in XP Mode. The printer install software runs fine in the virtual mode until it gets to the "print test page." At that point the install fails to find any printer at which time it completely reverses the install.  Pffft ! !
Help please!      I've been going crazy for two days to solve this problem. I haven't even begun to attempt installing my trusty old HP Scanjet 5530 flatbed scanner. I suspect it will be a similar nightmare as is this current printer dilemma.
Am I destine to have to buy new hardware that’s compatible with windows 7 (64bit)?
    This question was solved.

The Deskjet 6122 driver should work fine on Windows 7 using the DEskjet 990c driver, but many folks (myself included) have been having problems getting the Deskjet 990 driver to download from Windows Update.
You have probably already done the steps here, but if not start with that. If the HP Deskjet 990 does not show up after clicking on Windows Update as shown in step 8 and you get a message that "Windows Update was unable to find a list of devices, try again later" then see the solution here.  If the problem still exists then you can download the driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog site, but this is not very easy to use.  If you need to use the catalog site post back here and I will write up some directions.

  • How to install HP Deskjet 990cxi on my new laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium on an AMD 64

I have spent two days trying to install my excellent HP Deskjet 990cxi on my new laptop running Win7 Home Premium on an AMD 64-bit processor.  I want to do two things:
to set the printer up to run direct from a USB port on my laptop.  Having done this, I then want
to set the printer up on BT Home Hub Type 2A, connected through the hub's USB, as a network computer.
So far under windows, this has proved a huge problem.  It seems that the printer settings file is in 32-bit, but in the attempt to install the printer through the Windows "add printer" in Devices and Printers, and after a Windows update on the program to find Deskjet 990c, I run into a brick wall with the printer failing to install.  I get the following message: "Printer driver was not installed.  Access is denied  ".  Yet I am loading the printer drivers as Administrator.
By contrast, I also run Ubuntu 11.04 linux on this computer under Windows.
Ubuntu loaded the 990cxi drivers in an instant when it was connected via USB to the laptop; and more importantly,
Ubuntu set the printer us as a network printer running off the BT Home Hub type 2A and it worked perfectly.  I even tested it by sending a graphics file from my garden to the printer indoors and the quality was perfect.
So the observation is this: If Ubuntu can load both printer settings on the same laptop, why is Windows 7 such a trial?  Can HP do anything about this?

  • Trouble installing HP Deskjet 722c on Windows 7 64-bit on a network

    Hi,
I have a Windows 7 64-bit system and am trying to connect to an HP Deskjet 722c through a home network. My other Windows 7 PCs can connect and print to this printer (it is shared on the network via an old WinXP box) but when I try to install the printer on my 64-bit machine, it says it is trying to download an update and it fails to do so. • Re: Installing hp deskjet 3054 on mac osx 10.9.4

i have an officejet pro 8600.  i upgraded my mac to 10.9.5 and now cannot scan (although I can print). I get a message that says the software cannot be located.  I cannot download the software from  hp download/support.

    Hi @zipline
I can help you scan to your Mac running 10.9.5. Your Title says you are installing Deskjet 3054, but your post message says you have an Officejet 8600.
There is no full feature software and driver available from HP for the Deskjet 3054, but the OS X v10.9 Mavericks driver for your printer is available through Apple Software Update (ASU).
With this driver you can still print and scan, you just wont have HP software to scan from. Scanning to the computer from the printer control panel is only available when using HP Scan software, thus it will not work because there is no HP scan software as apart of the Apple Software Update driver.
    Instead, you can scan using,
Method one: Scan from the Print & Scan window
Method two: Scan from Apple Preview
Method three: Scan from Apple Image Capture
I hope this helps. If you have any additional questions are have any difficulty using any of these methods, please let me know what method you are trying and what the issue/error is. You may also find the following document helpful; OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac

  • Trying to install HP Deskjet 2642 printer...not working

I have tried to download HP Deskjet 2642 printer multiple times, however at the end of the installation, it tells me that the installation failed because the (path, or list of folders) doesn't exist or I don't have access to it. How do I fix this?!
A similar situation happened when I downloaded a game from a website that I paid for. It wouldn't let me open it because I was denied access to (some file).
    I have an XPS 18.

    mllarwoo,
The only printer I could find with the information you provided is the HP Deskjet 400 C2462.
    A trip to the
Windows Compatibility Center shows that it is in fact supported by Windows 8.1, which is good to know before continuing.
Based on the error message you’re getting, it’s possible that the files are saving to a folder in which you don’t have the appropriate permissions to access due to not being an administrator.
You should try downloading your file(s) directly to your desktop, or even the Downloads or Documents folders.
Once they are completely downloaded, right-click on the file and select ‘Run as administrator’.
If you get prompted for administrative credentials you most likely aren’t logged in as an administrator.
Without being logged in as an administrator or providing administrative credentials, you won’t be able to perform tasks such as installing new software.
