*INSTALLING I/O BOARD ISSUE.....

I just installed a new I/O (left) board for my MBP. I still have the cover open and when I plugged in the power-cord, the LED Light blinks (but very faintly where it's almost solid and you just see very light blinking)...and I also hear a ticking sound)....I only listened and looked at it for a few seconds and then I unplugged it because I don't think it's normal. I did this a few times to see if it would stop but it hasn't. I never tried to press the power button yet.
Is anyone familiar with this issue? I'm positive everything is connected the right way....

Note, you posted in the new MacBook Pro forum, which refers to the MacBook Pro that was released two weeks ago. Installing an I/O board on such a machine if it becomes damaged, in most likelihood would void your warranty. Since no one here works for Apple, we can't say for certain if it would be voided, but reading of the warranty basically precludes "unauthorized modifications," which swapping the I/O board would appear to be one of them. Worth installing new logic board?

I've just been to see a Mac Genius because of problems booting my PB (see previous post), and through a process of elimination she said it must be a logic board component problem that's preventing the power from routing properly.
Is it worth the cost of installing a new board? I have a friend who could probably do the labor for his 'friends and family' rate, so it's really just the cost of the board itself--but I have no idea how much they run.
This is a back-up laptop (we have another MacBook Pro at home), but despite its age it functions well for what I need it for, which is mostly word docs and email. It's got a fairly new hard-drive installed about 18 months ago, and a one-year old power adapter cord which is in great shape.

If the clock battery hasn't been replaced in the last 4 years, that's the first place I'd look. Next I'd look at the internal power supply to find out if the wiring got loose. If neither appears to be at issue, find out for your model what it costs to replace the logic board. These places may be able to help you for less than Apple:

Hello, I've tried Lion from the day they released to last week I got my computer formated and with leopard again, on my iMac 24" from early 2009 2.9 Ghz core 2 duo, and I have installed 8 Gb of memory, and i have some complains about it, there are some cosmetic issues but mostly I'm concerned about issues bellow the hood, as I'm a stock trader and I depend completly from my computer's performance, let me explain:
Superficial issues:
1. They took off "spaces" and I liked it.
2. I dont use the magic mouse, I need a more accurate mouse for my charts, and it seems they built the entire OS assuming you would use the magic mouse for gestures, scroll, etc to try to mimic in some way the Ipad and Iphone functions, but what if you arent using it like me?
3. I never used that little rocket icon that makes all your apps appear and that could be one of the "improvements on Lion", at first sight it looks nice and slick, but if you try to use it and make it part of your daily use, you would find it is useless, it is a pain to try to arrange it the way you like it, so I rather use the spotlight to search for my apps, its faster.
Now the MOST important, 'performance':
1. It completly suffocate my computers hardware Leopard much more lighter, beggining from the start up that taked almost 1/3 or twice the time, and I think Lion has some bugs bellow the hood, i was doing my normal stuff, some apps running and everything, and suddenly I started to feel the computer a little slow, safari taking forever to open the pages for example, and I opened the activity monitor to see what was going on, and it was there, I was using 4 or 5 gb from my memory, and CPU making insane peaks, and Im using 2.46 gb as im writing it doing exactly the same stuff, (but Im happily using Leopard now), and it wasnt once, as i told before, I used lion since the day they released it and happened several times until it drove me nutts. But leopard not problem in that regard at all, Never.

T400 System board issues

Has anyone else been having issue with the T400 and the System Board. I have had 5 now that stop booting. All you get is the power light, battery light and the plug light when plugged in. Hit the power and nothing comes up. I tried removing the battery and same thing minus the battery light.

I am also facing the same problem. Looks like Lenovo is loosing it credibility and integrity, it previous used to have, especially for Thinkpads.
I am already living with WiFi problem for my T400. Now this System board issue. Really tech support also not good at all.

I have a MacBook pro that stopped working - mother board issue?

I have a MacBook pro that stopped working. Was told the mother board is bad. However, it still turns on and makes the normal start-up noises, DVD works and ejects, etc. - only the screen is out. Does this sound like a mother board issue?

It is a 15" MacBook Pro purchased new in October 2007. It has a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Due processor with 4MB shared level 2 cache, 2GB SDRAM, 120GB hard drive, and a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 128MB of GDDR3 SDRAM.
I read in another thread that there was a problem wiht NVIDIA video cards. Could this be the case with this computer? In the thread, the person indicated that NVIDIA was fixing these issues under warranty.
I was told by the Mac repair tech (not an Apple store) that the new motherboard would by $700 and not under warranty.

Can't install CS6 - Installer,download issues

Very frustrated. Tried every download method … downloaded at least five times … searched help, boards…even tried turning off "verify checksums" in Disk Utility. I am getting different errors each time. Sometimes download gets to the end and fails. Finally got download to work, then Installer fails…then finally able to install, but fails after selecting product names.
It seems to have accepted my serial number, but failed again:

Inconsistency with the installer database. Please restart your computer and install again.
Also got this:

Success! Manish, Cleaner did seem to help, thanks! I wound up cleaning everything, even CS5.5. The Installer at least started, appeared to install (but got the spinning beach ball of death – had to force quit). Though I saw the apps in the applications folder, they would't open...something about Adobe Manager not installed. I then tried to reinstall again, but an error came up ... google found that it could be a permissions issue. I then moved the installer out of my Downloads folder and onto the desktop. Launching the Installer from here then finally worked perfectly.
Hope Adobe makes this easier in the future. Lost a lot of hours figuring this out.

Mail and Key board issues with Mavericks 9.2

I am using a Mac Pro and have just uploaded Mavericks 9.2 upgrade.
I am now experiencing erratic response to key board commands, while typing and Mac Mail is sometimes unresponsive. My epson photo stylus 1400 printer driver also bacame unresponsive. This issue was resolved by uninstalling the driver, re-installing the original driver >reloading the upgrades from Epson via software update>adding the newly installed printer to the preferences. Presently the printer is working just fine, but the Mac Mail menu bar is blinking uncontrollabley and is unresponsive until I quit it and reboot the program. Anyon else having these issues?

Problem resolved by restting the PRAM.

IMac Logic Board Issue...

Here is a little history:
Bought an iMac G5 1.8GHz in February of 2005. In October of 2005 I had the power supply and logic board replaced. In August of 2006 I had the logic board replaced again. In July of 2007 I had the logic board replaced AGAIN...
I am once again having issues with what I think is a faulty logic board. I had a "Must Restart" grey pop-up yesterday. Did an SMU reset, then restarted the computer. It worked for 24 hours. This morning it did the same thing. I restarted, but it went to a blue screen and stayed there... I did a SMU reset, and a PRAM reset. Then called Applecare and they hinted I should do a disk repair with the install disk... Tried that. The computer won't boot from the disc when pressing C on startup... just goes to Blue Screen after grey apple screen and freezes.
I tried starting up whilst holding the "Option" button. Both the Macintosh HD and OS X Tiger DVD are found, but once again, it won' boot from either. Just to the Blue Screen and that is it.
I am over 3 months from my logic board replacement time frame... besides, I think the last replacement of it should have taken care of it last July, right? I have opened up the computer, and there are 5 leaking capacitors...
I am right in thinking the Logic Board is fried, right?
What would you suggest doing? Trying to get another logic board for free from Apple, even though I am beyond warranty? I DO NOT want to pay 800-900 bucks for sure. Any other tips or suggestions? I figure I could get a SATA/USB2 enclosure for the HD if I get another mac... not to mention I am a pretty good back-upper...

I have a first generation 20" iMac G5; the logic board failed about a year ago and was replaced under the "iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Video and Power Issues" program at my local Apple store. It failed again last week; I returned to the Apple store and was advised it would not be covered as it has passed the 3 year mark outlined in the program and was offered a 20% discount on purchasing a new iMac (I did not feel this was a reasonable resolution). I contacted AppleCare via telephone regarding the issue as I felt Apple should support a product with a well documented defect. The "Product Specialist" I spoke to stated "my original logic board had been replaced with an updated one" and "the failure of this current logic board is unrelated to the Extension program failure". He then went on to contradict himself and stated "Apple could not / would not continue to support the logic board failures after the 3 year mark". I was offered no resolution; I am a long time Apple supporter, advocate and evangelist who has advised friends, family and colleagues to purchase Apple products. I am now extremely hesitant to do so after this incident. As this is a recurring and well documented issue with this product, I feel Apple should either replace or offer a replacement iMac at a HIGHLY substantial discounted rate to any customers impacted by this product. Hundreds of posts here and at other forums show there are many unhappy customers.

Adobe CS5.5 Production Premium Install Errors and Other Issues

Hi,
I just installed Adobe CS5.5 Production Premium on my computer and had some errors pop up at the end of installation. I will paste the summary below. I've tried to install Procction Premium a couple of times. I've used the Adobe Cleaner Tool. From what I've researched, the Flash Issue is a a false error since Flash was already installed on the computer. Is the rest of it connected to the Flash issue as well?
Thr programs all seem to work fine except for the issue below.
My other question is that when I am in Windows Explorer and I Right-Click on say a .jpg file and select Open With... I am not able to select Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator for that matter. I have Dreamweaver CS4 and that shows up as an option. I have gone through the process of trying to add the Adobe Photoshop .exe file, but it still doesn't work. However, if I open Adobe Bridge, I am able to select Photoshop or Illustrator to open a file. Is this connected to my install or is there something else going on? I did uninstall an ancient version of Adobe Photoshop 7.0 that I've had for years, but that was prior to installing Production Premium CS5. Could that have caused an issue? I read that uninstalling an old Photoshop can cause problems like this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, your installation errors appear to be the innocuous false errors related to the brain-dead Flash installer. If the programs seem to be working fine, don't worry about it. As far as not being able to open images with Photoshop from Windows Explorer, I recommend taking that question to the Photoshop forum.

Unable to install windows 7(superdrive issue)

I have iMac (mid 2011) with latest OSX (10.8.2). Seems impossible to install windows without superdrive (it just doesn't work works fine on windows).
I have googled for solution but none of them worked. I tried bootcamp method, but when it restarts failed to find USB boot and tries to boot from bootcamp partition, which results no bootable drive found.
I am not sure if this is OSX restriction by apple, but All I know that I cant install it. If someone have any idea how to fake it or how to bypass this please let me know.
IT's all about installing windows 7 dual boot on iMac without DVD. I have edited plist file so I am able to Create Boot USB from bootcamp. When I click Install in boot camp, it creates partition as it should but when Mac restarts it wont boot from USB.
I have tried with refit, I can see my USB but when I want to boot from it it shows No bootable device error. I have created USB with both Basecamp option and Microsoft official USB creator. None of the worked.

I am not sure which specific issue that is, but it definitely sounds like a hardware issue rather than a software or settings issue. Windows should not have any issues installing; if it does, that would usually point to a hardware issue of some sort.
It could even be your motherboard. Your best bet is to disconnect EVERYTHING that is not needed from the motherboard, including RAM sticks except for the least amount possible, and try installing Windows with that configuration.
Example: you need the power supply, so connect that. If you're installing from a CD/DVD, then you need a CD/DVD drive. You need at least 2 GB of RAM. You need to be able to turn on the computer, so the on/off switch needs to be connected
to the motherboard. You will need a mouse and keyboard. And so on. If this bare-minimum configuration does not work, start replacing items: use a different RAM stick, use a different mouse, use a different keyboard, etc. If, after you
do all this, it still does not work, then I would suspect that your motherboard has an issue. You can also try resetting the CMOS on your motherboard. Some motherboards have a jumper for that, and for others, simply removing the CMOS battery will
do it.
As far as IDE, AHCI, and RAID settings are concerned, this should not matter so long as whichever setting it is on when Windows is installed is the same after it is installed. For example, if it is installed using IDE, then you need to stick with IDE.
If you installed it with AHCI, then you need to stick with AHCI. Changing it after installation can make Windows not boot. There are, of course, ways around that, but it is easiest to simply be consistent.

Can't install due to password issue

I've reset the password 3X and still can't download due to password issue. Help!

11gR2 install on Solaris 10 Issue

I am trying to install the 11gR2 Grid Infrastructure on Solaris 10 2 node cluster. I have taken care of all the pre reqs, ssh equivalence works well,, i am installing the binaries on a ZFS mounted file system and using ASM for datafiles. The installation runs fine on node 1 and continues until 65% where it hangs saying: "Copying files to node 2"
Has anyone seen this issue?

Wall Board Issues

I posted this to an older thread but haven't recieved any response...I am starting a new thread to see if someone can help me out.
I am trying to get this working, but I am runnning into some issues. Enterprise manager is not installed on the uccx server. I do have access to it from another installation but I can't get connected (Domain's aren't the same) and I don't know the sa password. How can I get this resovled?

Just to be clear the inital QueueStats page displays with the ResourceGroup and changes colors if their is a call in the Queue.
I am using Windows Authentication, logged in as CiscoWbUsr. If I look @ the database db_cra, CiscoWbUser is a role member of db_wallboard_read and public. db_wallboard_read has Select permissions for RTCSQsSummary but not for "Resource". Is the wallboard.asp file using a table that the CiscoWbUser doesn't have access to? The statement:
strSQL = "SELECT x.resourceName, t.eventType, x.datetime FROM (SELECT t1.resourceID, t1.resourceName, MAX(t2.eventDateTime) AS datetime FROM Resource AS t1 INNER JOIN AgentStateDetail AS t2 ON t2.agentID = t1.resourceID GROUP BY t1.resourceID, t1.resourceName ) AS x INNER JOIN AgentStateDetail AS t ON t.agentID = x.resourceID AND t.eventDateTime = x.datetime ORDER BY x.resourceName"
If I run the above in query analyzer I get a permission denied, which I expect since CiscoWbUser doesn't have rights to that table.
If I run the portion of the script that QueueStats:
strsql = "SELECT CSQName, loggedInAgents, availableAgents, callsWaiting, callsHandled, totalCalls, callsAbandoned, convLongestWaitDuration, endDateTime FROM RtCSQsSummary ORDER BY CSQName"
I get results that I would expect.
What tables should the CiscoWbUsr have access to?

SAP NW CE 7.2 Distributed Install on Solaris/Oracle Issues

Hi,
has anyone used the current Installation DVD (51038030) to install a distributed CE 7.2 system. SAPInst fails to install the SCS instance and doesn't unpack the kernel etc as part of the process. The CE 7.1 DVD for Solaris/Oracle installs ok after I downloaded the new control xml which was atached to OSS 1249364. I've got a high priority message open with SAP on the problems with the CE 7.2 installation but thought I'd see if anyone else has encountered any issues with the 7.2 Solaris/Oracle installation.
