Hello mimitem,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sound slike you are getting this error message when you try to launch iTunes.
If so, then take a look at this article:

  • Since mistakenly upgrading Quicktime and I Tunes will not work.

Unfortunately my amd 2700 Windows XP will not take the Service Pack 2 upgrade for whatever reason. It still functions okay, but I mistakenly upgraded my Quicktime along with I Tunes and it will not work. I later read minimum requirements on Apple's site having Service Pack 2 is required. Now I'm frustrated because I can't find an earlier version of either program to download. Unless I buy another computer I'm stuck.

First message is Windows Service Pack encountered a problem. I went to all the technical data and it is Greek to me. I can give you a couple of things, but the entire file doesn't make any sense, but then again it is a computer.
Windows: NT 5.1 (shouldn't it be XP, what do I know)
    modver:5.1.2600.2180
    modname: ntdll.dll
    offset: 0002946
    cpu vendor code: 2600 68747541 69746e65 444d4163
I tried MS for support on SP2, but only found 2 free emails if you had the product ID or it was loaded on the computer. Since I can't load it I can't email or call them. My computer was put together by a computer business so I really can't go back to them since it is not a name brand and it has been at least four years. I am still stuck on what to do. I tried to restore to before the updating of I Tunes, but MS would not let me do that.

  • Java installed fine, but will not work.

Hello there! I am having an issue getting Java to work on my girlfriend's XP Pro PC.... The latest version installed great, and Java's install tester recognizes the install, but applets will not run... I've done everything I could find to do, which included uninstall/reinstall... I even uninstalled Microsoft VM (which didn't even show up as being on there, but it still uninstalled), REinstalled it, and then installed Java... I checked and rechecked all the settings I could find... and everything is set right... One suggestion was to check proxy settings, but everything seems to be cool there, too.. My PC and hers are hooked up through a router, and we both use ZoneAlarm pro, and all our settings are identical... All of our internet settings are the same as well, and the new Java works great on my PC... One note - and this is just a "by the way" - I've noticed that her computer has weird stuff like happen this from time to time, and I've always wondered if it's because we she upgraded to XP Pro from ME... I know, yikes!!! Ha! But anyway, I hope somebody can help.... I'm no developer, but I'm very experienced with a computer, and I know how to use regedit, etc., so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Meanwhile I'll try to search the forum for similar threads... Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, this happens with all clutter-based applications (caribou, cheese, gnibbles, gnome-documents, sushi, quadrapassel, totem) on systems that no have hardware acceleration, and use software rasterizer.
    Solutions, what I know:
    1. Install the appropriate DRI driver, if available.
    2. Rebuild packages without clutter, if possible.
    3. Look for alternatives.
    Any other solution?

  • Recently re-installed I-Tunes will not connect the internet

I am attempting to de-authorize a PC from the I-tunes registry.  I had unistalled I-Tunes from my pc at work, as I no longer us this for I-Tunes.  I now need to de-authorize this pc.  I re-installed I-Tunes, but it will no longer connect to the Internet.  I have gone through the trouble shooting guide on the Apple support page, but no luck.  I cannot Authorize my new PC without de-authorizing this older unit.

I updated to iTunes 10.4.1 a couple of days ago, and now I have exactly the same problem. I called Apple, and they would help me only if I paid a $49 fee, which as a loyal (or formerly loyal?) Apple user I found terribly distressing.
Fortunately, I have a lovely little program called Airfoil that will connect the music on my computer to the Airport Expresses around the house. I can use it for now. (It would cost you less to buy it than the service advice.) Perhaps the next iteration of iTunes will work properly, but I must say that in future I am going to be more attentive to alternatives to Apple than I have been hitherto.
Let me add, in response to the initial post, that I don't think I have a firewall on, so I can't turn it off. I am still using version 10.6.8 of the OS, since I am bit wary of going up to Lion till they have the bugs worked out.

  • I have silverlight installed but it will not work.

I have silverlight Version: 5.1.30514.0 installed on a Toshiba Satellite running Vista Home Premium SP2 64bit.
I use this everyday for work.  When I came in this morning. It wasn't working so naturally I looked for an update I ran the installer from the website which uninstalled Version: 5.1.30514.0 and attempted to install a 64 bit version. (I can not
determine whether my current version is 32 or 64 bit). It said it was not compatible with my OS (even though it is listed to be compatible under system requirements).
So I re-installed Version: 5.1.30514.0 through windows update but it will still not work.
Any ideas on how to fix this?  The website that uses it is vital to my job. I really need to quick fix that isn't talking my company into buying a more up to date computer.

I've encountered a similar problem with Silverlight on my Vista PC.
Several weeks ago I read a brief item stating that Google would be dropping support for npapi and that it would affect Silverlight in April.  One of my key daily apps uses Silverlight, but I didn't receive notification from that software's author about
the pending change and how it would be handled.  Successfully used the app every week (Mon-Fri) this month for 8-10 hrs/dy day (as I've been doing for the past ~5+ years: past year under Chrome, year before that under FireFox, ~3 prior years under
IE) and on Fri 4/17 shut it down for the weekend.  When I booted up on Mon morning and tried to log into the key app however, it prompted me to download and install Silverlight, acting as though I never had it installed!  (And in fact, I couldn't
find it when looking under > Control Panel  > Programs and Features!)
I recalled the earlier warning about Google dropping support, so I closed Chrome, started up FireFox, but got the same prompt from the app -- it directed me to install Silverlight.  I downloaded it (had no choice as to which version, just got the "Silverlight_x64.exe"
file) and got part-way through the install when this error msg popped up:  "Unable to Install Silverlight.  Your operating system does not support the 64-bit version of Silverlight".  WHAT?!  According to  > Control Panel
    > System, I'm running "Windows Vista Home Premium", with a "System Type:  64-bit Operating System".  I've been using this same Vista PC since Sep 2008 and running Silverlight for around the past 5 yrs.
Can someone explain why the Silverlight installer code doesn't deem Vista worthy of running its latest and greatest version?
Is there a way to get an older version of Silverlight that will run under Vista?
Is this just another means to a forced OS "upgrade"?
Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

  • After I installed the latest update, MSVCR80 was not installed and itunes will not work

After I installed the latest updat to itunes, it did not install properly. I received the following messages:
Service "Apple Mobile Devise (Apple Mobile Devise) failed to start. verify that you have sufficent privileges to start system services Abort, Retry, Ignore
Itunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)
When I click on the itunes icon, I get the following message:
The computer can not start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your compyter. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

    I've revised my advice slightly...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall go to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above then search the computer for copies of the file QTMovieWin.dll - you should only have one copy in the relevant folder for your system.
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support (32-bit Windows)
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support (62-bit Windows)
Delete any others and not only should this fix the problem, but prevent it from recuring on subsequent updates.

  • Am running Vista and it shows Adobe flash player 100% installed but it will not work. I have uninstalled numerous times and still no luck. Had success on older computer running XP. I have searched the net and attempted numerous options but to no avail.

Adobe Flash player states it is installed and gives the current version but when I attempt to view a video it tells me to download the newest flash player however it showed I have installed it.
When I go to uninstall programs it does not show any files have been downloaded for the program... so I have uninstalled; restarted; re-installed under administrator; turned off any virus protection and firewalls... etc.
Basically I have tried everything I have seen posted.
    I need help!!!!

Do you have NoScript or Flashblock or some similar Extension installed? If so, are you allowing the site, at least on a temporary basis, access by such an Extension?

  • Trying to download version 4. Symbol appears with line through it , and I can't install it. Will not work. Have a mac os X version 10.4.

I was trying to upgrade my version of Firefox. Downloaded the new one, got rid of old one as it said could not install because old one existed. Now cannot use either. Firefox circle has line through it.

For to use Firefox 4.0 and newer you need both Intel and OSX 10.5 or newer.
Either you can use the 3.6.17 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html or use a third-party build of Firefox 4.0 from http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
note there is no actual 4.0.2 as they decided to get ahead with their own build.

  • Since installing Yosemite Mail will not work correctly.

The number of unread e-mails is not showing correctly on the inbox icon, and doesn't show on the dock icon. Although i have set it to "do not store deleted e-mails on the server" every time it connects to the server it displays the e-mails i have just deleted. It is that bad that i am now using Outlook as my Mail software. Are you able to go back to your previous Operating System, in my case Mavericks, it was far far better than Yosemite!!!
Thanking you in anticipation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Back up all data. Rebuild the mailbox.

I was using Lightroom v5.6 when a notice came up to update to v5.7. So I did the download but it would not work or install.  And the 5.6 version will not work now either.   So I am screwed - no 5.6 or 5.7 and no access to Adobe Tech.   Any help will be appreciated.

My iPod is a click wheel...I think that's fifth generation?
I've always used my firewire cable to update my iPod. I've tried using USB in the past but for some reason it always says that my iPod has low battery and won't let me update it, so I just use firewire. Can I not use firewire with itunes 7?
I'll try using the USB again. It's laying around here somewhere. Just gotta find it.

  • ITunes will not work on Fresh INstall of Vista x64 SP1

I have a strange issue. I have a Windows Vista x64 with SP1 (Yes the DVD is a production DVD from Microsoft not a slip stream copy.) and I wanted to do a fresh install of Vista with SP1. Reinstalled OS and everything is running great but iTunes. When I start iTunes I get this error message about "mssip32.dll" being damaged or corrupt please reinstall the app. So I looked around good old Google and apple.com. I found several fixes about re-registering a set of dll files. So did them all, no change. Reinstalled Vista from scratch again, no change. So for the heck of it I reinstalled Vista with no SP1 installed and then applied SP1 and it works fine. I reinstalled Vista with SP1 and have been running it for over a week and everything on the system is tested and solid as a rock with no issues. The only program that will not work is iTunes. I have also tried all the way back to version 7.4 and no luck.
    Any ideas on this?

You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • I bought the Keynote app for my MacBook, but when I open the application and try to install it, I get an error message saying that the application will not work with my MacBook. What gives? And, can I please request a refund? ($19.99 = a week's groceries)

I bought the Keynote app for my MacBook, but when I open the application and try to install it, I get an error message saying that the application will not work with my MacBook. What gives? And, can I please request a refund? ($19.99 = a week's groceries).
Thank you for your help! - I did try looking for all available specs about Keynote on the Apple iTunes website, and found nothing that could help me. HELP!

    1
    Close all iWork applications
    2
Uninstall Keynote; this must be done with an application remover tool to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download
    3
    empty the trash
    4
shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears
let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the hard drive is being repaired
    5
Reinstall Keynote by logging into the Mac App Store using download / install
