Installing IAS on a P$

I'm trying to IAS on a Pentium 4 with Windows 2000?.
I know that iPlanet does not support W2K but we have it running on P3s
now in W2K
when we ignore the warning. The only difference is the chip. On the P4
the server will not load and I get the following errors:
- The application, httpd.exe generated and application error. The
error occurred (date and time). The exception generated was c0000005 at
address 500BF974.
- httpd.exe has generated errors and will be close by windows
- httpps4.0 failed. The error code is DWORD 0 of the record data.
Thanks

Hi Nick
Your problem seems to be related to web server. Could you clarify which
web server you are using.
I think processer doesn't make any difference whether it is p3 or p4.
One good news is that now iAS sp3 supports W2k also.
Thanks

    Hi.
when you say you have installed weblogic on the same machine several times and it worked, do you mean you have installed wls
6.1 sp1? Or do you mean you have installed other versions? If you have installed this version before then you might try
reinstalling with a fresh download of the install binary.
If you are still having problems then you might want to open a case with support.

  • How to install ias 10g 10.1.2.0.0 on Solaris 5.10?

I scanned this forum and it is not clear to me if anyone has actually succeeded in installing ias 10g 10.1.2.0.0 on Solaris 5.10.
If anybody has successfully done so, would he/she please post the details? Or give me an indication what documents, patches etc I will need in order to complete my installation. I am yet to start the installation, but am expecting problems (just completed an rdbms 10g 10.1.0.2 install on Solaris 5.10 and that did not go very smooth, to say the least...)

If you applied all recommended patches from redhat you probably use glibc 2.2-9.
However jre 1.1.8 doesn't work with this version of glibc. Downgrade to glibc 2.1.92-something (the original version supplied with RH7.0) and OUI will work.
    Success.

  • How to install ias 1.0 and 8.1.6.1 on a single red hat 6.1 machine

How to install ias 1.0 and 8.1.6.1 on a single red hat 6.1 machine.
i am expecting a lot of problems during the ias installation, the db is working fine. is posible to install both products over the same machine?

You should be able to iAs and the DB on the same machine but you will need to do the following:
    1. Create a new ORACLE_HOME for iAS (unsetenv ORACLE_HOME and setenv ORACLE_HOME to new home)
    2. Shutdown the DB in the existing Oracle home and change the corresponding listener port in listener.ora to a port other than the typical default (1521)
    3. Install iAS in the new Oracle home
    4. Make sure none of the listeners in the listener.ora under the new Oracle home are listening on the same port as that which you set for the existing DB listener.
In general it is advisable to install iAS EE on a different machine than the origin database to realize the full benefits of iCache (EE)

  • Installing iAS 1.0.2 on W2K

I am trying to install iAS 1.0.2 on W2K server to deploy Forms and Reports. The DB is 8.1.7 on a separate machine.
I could not see Oracle HTTP service as well as Forms server service.I could see reports server service could start after Reboot.
Could any one please tell me why is that services are not listed.I could see APACHE folder as well as Forms 60 folder. What is the problem?
I only selected Forms and Reports server and Oracle HTTP server(on posrt 80) to configure automatically during installation steps.

Well, the way I eventually solved this was to completely remove 9iAS and all of it's install info from the disk. It didn't work to just remove everything from $ORACLE_HOME down and then run uninstall. I also had to locate and remove the install log information that Oracle creates when it installs, found in the oraInventory directory. This log kept track of what was installed and where, etc. I had gone through a bad install before and all the info from that bad install was being used on subsequent installs. Finally I tried deleting the info related to previous installs, specifically the oraInventory directory. You would probably do just as well to delete everything under the oraInventory parent directory, which for me was the product directory. Once I did this I no longer got the cluster message. It also allowed me to successfully install 9iAS and Forms and Reports. Once I did this http, forms, and reports all came up with no problems, whereas before I couldn't get http server to start.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago when installing iAS 6.0 SP2 on Win NT
4.0 running on P4 chip. The problem is caused by the JRE version 1.2.2-001
which is bundled with the iPlanet Enterprise Web Server version 4.11. You
need at least JRE version 1.2.2-007 due to a bug in Symantec JIT
(more info about the Java 2 update for P4 chips can be found at
    http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.2/jre/download-windows.html)
I downloaded the latest Java 2 JRE (1.2.2-008) and replaced
<iPlanetWebServer>\bin\https\jre directory with the new version. After
rebooting the box http service came up fine. The rest of the iAS
    installation went smoothly...

Looks like some file that's present in tmp or
/var/tmp during deployment cannot be overwritten
because of permissions issue. Please make
sure you don't have previous installation temp files
in /var/tmp or /tmp before doing new installation or
use the same use that installed the first instance.
You can try cleaning up tmp and /var/tmp and retry.

  • How to install iAS 10g on RedHat ES 3?

    Hi all
I'm quite a newcomer to Linux and Oracle iAS, and I got the task to install the iAS 10g on RedHat ES 3.
But I don't have a clue how to start and do that. Can you give me some hints?
I have the RedHat ES 3 CD's and two HP Servers (P4 with 1024mb RAM and a lot of diskspace). So I think I have got everything I need to install the iAS.
I think the first step is to install Linux on both Servers, right? But what components will I have to install?
    Thanks very much for help.
    Joshua

Now I found this sentence on http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleAS10gInstallationOnFedora2.php:
The AS10g installer checks for required packages. It will produce the following list of missing packeges:
    Package gcc-3.2.3-20 is missing
    Package compat-gcc-7.3-2.96.122 is missing
    Package compat-gcc-c++-7.3-2.96.122 is missing
    Package compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.122 is missing
    Package compat-libstdc++-devel-7.3-2.96.122 is missing
    Package setarch-1.3-1 is missing
    Package sysstat-4.0.7 is missing
    Package gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90-34.1 is missing
    Package libstdc++-3.2.3 is missing
    Package compat-libstdc++-devel-7.3-2.96.122 is missing
Package compat-glibc-7.x-2.2.4.32.5 is missingYou can either quit and install these packages or continue with the installation as we've installed newer versions of them.
Should I just continue with the installer?
I tried "/media/cdrom/runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs" but the terminal tells me
The user is root. Oracle Universal Installer cannot continue installation if the user is root.I guess I have to create a non-root user, right? Is there a document about that?
Sorry for these really stupid questions, but I'm just not into linux yet...
    Greetings, Joshua

  • Can't install iAS on NT 4. Is it just me?

I downloaded iAS for NT (1.0.1 I think), but I can't get the installer to run. Has anyone else successfully run this installer?
The first time I tried, the installer halted immediately, complaining that it couldn't find jrew.exe. I found a path in a .ini, and modified it to be absolute instead of relative, and now the installer gets a little further.... then crashes.
    Any tips?

Although it SHOULDN'T matter (since the Java VM should parse '/' and '\' the same way when used in a file name), changing all instances of '/' to '\', eliminating the CLASSPATH and JAVA_HOME environment variables, and putting ABSOLUTE rather than relative pathnames in the oraparam.ini file seems to have worked.
Also, using the path IAS101\Disk1\Stage rather than IAS101\Disk1\Install\win32\Stage seems to be necessary.
However, while I can get to the point where the scripts start to load, I eventually get a "specified key not found when trying to GetValue".
I really DON'T like Oracle Installer since it became Java-based. Too many opportunities for conflicts with pre-installed Java VM and class libraries. Installers ought to be small, standalone programs that do not rely on or require pre-installed components to function. By basing them on Java, you almost guarantee that the user can inadvertantly break things.

    Hi Rama,
Can you please tell me which webserver you are using with
    iAS-TestDrive-Sp-III, it
    should be iWS-4.1.
The type of problem you are getting, can arise sometimes if your DNS-Suffix
    is not set properly.
Setting the DNS Suffix in Windows :
    1. Make sure you are using static IP address.
    2. Right click on My computer (icon on desktop or in windows-explorer), then
click on properties, go to Network identification Tab, Click on
properties, then click the more button, set the Primary DNS suffix (like
india.sun.com), and also check the Change Primary DNS suffix when domain
membership change check box, click all Ok buttons.
Sometimes fixing the DNS-suffix this way doesn't update the windows
    registry.
To make sure that it is added to the windows registry just run regedit and
    click on the :
    My
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
key, you will see the Domain key value set to your domainname, otherwise
    enter
the domain name into this key value, and than reboot the m/c, and than
    reinstall
    the iAS. It should work.
If you further encounter problems, please mail me back.

  • Install IAS 9.0.3 Error  on RedHat linux 7.3

When I install ias9.0.3 on RH7.3,I got a error like this:
Error in invoking target install of makefile
    /oracle/ias903/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk
I have use the binutils-2.11.90.0.8,and get the same problem ,
    what shall I do next?
    Thanks

I also faced the same problem while installing Oracle9iAS 903 in RedHat8.0..
i think, this is somthing related to swap space size..
Oracle recommends minimum 1GB swap space ..
And while linking process it seems, installer is trying make some file which is more than 512MB..So that process fails due to insufficient swap space..You can overcome this by increasing the swap space...
You can increase the swap space at run time by creating a file of required size and link that to your system swap space..For more information refer redhat documentation..
    Hope this helps.....
plz do post, if you solved your problem...
    Cheers

  • Problem when Iam installing ias on Red Hat As 3.0

    Hi,
I am trying to install it, I run the OUI and then that mentions that there is no problem with the prerequisites.
However, after only display wait and never show a window of the OUI.
    What can I do?

Not sure what versions you are installing and installing on, but here is a Metalink note with a similar issue. It's kind of old and for Oracle 8i, but matches your stated issue with the OUI, so it might be worth checking out the patches it mentions:
Subject:      8.1.7.0.1 Linux - RedHat 7.1 Certification Note
         Doc ID:      Note:163135.1      Type:      BULLETIN
Last Revision Date:      19-DEC-2002      Status:      PUBLISHED
    8.1.7.0.1 Linux - RedHat 7.1 Certification Note
    I. New Installations
    PLEASE NOTE:
The following recommendations should be used in conjunction with this Note:
Note 114141.1 LINUX Quick Start Guide - 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 RDBMS Installation
Oracle Installation of 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 does not work correctly on Redhat 7.1
(glibc 2.2 and above) There are two known issues:
    1. The initial problem is that the Oracle Universal Installer does not start
(although runInstaller has started and the jre is running the OUI never actually
starts and displays the OUI window)
    2. The next problem will be that the relink phase of the installation fails due
to Bug 1467074. If the fix for this bug is not applied, none of the Oracle
executables will run and you will not be able to create a database during the
    installation.
    Solution to Issue 1:
To solve the initial problem of the OUI not starting you need to install the
following patches available via the Redhat 7.1 CDs or from www.redhat.com
    compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2.i386.rpm (CD1)
    compat-egcs-6.2-1.1.2.14.i386.rpm (CD2)
    compat-libs-6.2-3.i386.rpm (CD2)
The following commands can be run to check if the patches have been applied
(the expected output is listed below the command) :
    # rpm -q compat-egcs
    compat-egcs-6.2-1.1.2.14
    # rpm -q compat-glibc
    compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2
    # rpm -q compat-libs
In a shell window, set the environment variable LD_ASSUME_KERNEL as follows :
    $ export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
In the same shell window as used in the previous step, run the system glibc
    environment script as follows :
    $ . /usr/i386-glibc21-linux/bin/i386-glibc21-linux-env.sh
The OUI should now start correctly.
(If the OUI still does not start, you will need to apply the patch for Bug 2062423.
Please refer to the README.txt associated with the patch for more information.)
    Solution to Issue 2:
    At the first relinking error,
Apply the glibc patch for Bug 1467074. Follow the instructions in the bug readme.txt to apply the patch.
Apply the interMedia Text patch - patch for Bug 2062512. Follow the instructions in the bug readme.txt
    to apply the patch.
Click on "Retry" on the installer (to re-try the relinking).
    II. O/S Upgrade customers/installations :
This is for customers who already have 8.1.7.0.1 installed on say RedHat 7.0 and
upgrade their O/S to RedHat 7.1. When the O/S upgrade completes, if the
    OUI/Assistants no longer work:
o Apply the JRE/OUI patch - patch for Bug 2062423 (follow the instructions in
the bug readme to apply the patch) on top of the 8.1.7.0.1 installation. The
patch would upgrade the JRE of the installation.
o Apply the Context patch - patch for Bug 2062512 (follow the instructions in
the bug readme to apply the patch).
o The OUI/Assistants should work fine now.
    III. Patchset application
If the OUI cannot be launched from the Installation CD or the $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory:
o Apply the JRE/OUI patch - patch for Bug 2062423 (follow the instructions in
the bug readme to apply the patch) on top of the 8.1.7.0.1 installation. The
patch would upgrade the JRE of the installation. The installer from the
install-home can then be used to apply any patchsets.
o The glibc patch has to be applied during every patchset application as the
patchset may overwrite the relinking makefiles.
IV. Instructions to download the patches
    1. Log in to MetaLink and in the menu, click on the button "Patches".
    2. On the "Patch Download" screen, enter the "Patch Number" (2062423, 1467074 or 2062512)
and leave all other fields with the default values, and click on the
    "Submit" button.
    3. Click on the "Download" button.
    4. Install the patch by following the instructions in the readme.txt file.
    5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for the second patch.
