Installing IE7 on VPC for Mac

Any clues?
I'm trying to install IE7 on a Virtual PC (Mac)
I downloaded this installation version
(IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu) whatever
that means (I'm clueless when it comes to anything to do with
microsoft)
The OS I'm running in the VPC is XP-Home I seem to remember
when buying
it. (again not a damn clue what it was I was buying)
Ok heres the problem the (IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu) file gets
extracted and
then up pops a window saying "the installation does not
support your
operating system's current service pack version.
Thats probably not surprising. As far as I'm aware its never
been
updated by me and I don't have Automatic Updating switched
on.
Obviously the IE7 installer wont install on any OS thats not
been
updated with SP2.
I have just let the Microsoft site trawl through my OS and
collect and
download what I assume was all the nececcary updates it
needed. The
result was "Your computer has been successfully updated -
switch off -
switch on and youre good to go - obvioulsy not.
So me questions is:
1) How do I find out what version of Home edition Im running
and if its
been updated to SP2?

Try to run the IE7 installer again?

Thanks Kurt! I had tried all that and had tried closing both programmes from the application monitor, but SyncServices Agent refused to close. I tried closing Launchd which is their mother application, but that just caused the screen go go blank. In the end the two programmes let themselves be closed next time I tried the installation process so all was well. Thanks for your help!

Firefox, Safari, and PhotoShop each handle embedded color profiles differently. Problem Installing Adobe Flash Player for Mac Air (Yosemite)

I got a message saying my Adobe Flash Player was out of date. This seemed strange because I'd been accessing videos within the last hour with no problems. I went ahead and opened the Mac version installer downloaded of the Adobe site. The install started and after inputting an Admin password, the download reached 25% almost immediately. Unfortunately, it's been stuck at 25% since then. I've tried starting over, deleting the download and re-downloading the update with no success. I've also temporarily disabled my AdBlock and AdBlock Plus. I tried to uninstall AFP so I could start over but the box that's supposed to tell me what uninstaller version to download has an error message saying I need to update AFP.
How can I fix this?
Edit: I thought maybe I was downloading an AFP for an earlier OS (I'm running 10.10.2). I made sure to download the latest version of AFP for Mac possible. The install is now stuck at 30%. (Just to be clear, I downloaded the install package with no problem - the issue is with the install program itself pausing at 30%.)
Edit 2: I figured out which uninstall package I needed (using this page: Uninstall Flash Player | Mac OS) but upon reinstalling AFP, it's stuck again at 25% of download.
Edit 3: The message "Connection failed. Trying to reconnect" has appeared, followed quickly by "connection failed". Guess I'll try again.

I've double-checked to make sure that I've selected "Allow Internet Plug-ins" under Safari>Preferences>Security. I've read in other threads that this is one possible solution but it isn't useful to me since I've uninstalled AFP and but I've been unable to reinstall it.
Edit: I'm not sure if Youtube is supported by a different software package but I can watch any videos on that site with no problem.

Why can I not install fonts? Office for Mac will not recognize them?

My wife and I tried many times to install several fonts that we could use in Microsoft Office for Mac. Even though it said they were installed in the Mac, we could not see them in Word. We are new to the Apple products. We are not novice computer users, just novice Mac users. The font book shows them installed. We tried to choose several of the font families to add the fonts to. We could not see them there either. My wife does some foreign correspondence and likes to use pretty script fonts (TTF). Please help if you can.

I signed in to the App Store (and to itunes store just to make sure) with both my apple ids but i do not have the sub- section 'Hidden Purchases' within 'Itunes in the cloud' section. I guess I do not have hidden purchases then...
More interestingly: I checked the 'Top Charts' section in the AppStore and under category 'Top Free' all the iWork stuff (Numbers, Keynote, pages etc) shows up! But it has a price (e.g. numbers = 2000Yen) underneath... very strange.
Somewhat the app store knows that it should be free for me but the price is not displayed as 'Free'...

After installing Snow Leopard, Word for Mac X document prints only top 1/3. Excel, PDF is fine...only word is a problem.

Installed Snow Leopard and later in week went to print out a full page word document (Word for Mac X) and it only printed top 1/3 of page. Checked with PDF and Excel documents and all printed out OK. TextEdit is fine in printing as well. Then created a new document with a sentence on top of page and a sentence on bottom - printed fine.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Since your problem is only w/a Microsoft product, you should contact Microsoft for Mac Support and/or post in their forums.

I have bought PSE 11 for windows a year ago and now would like it to install it on my new mac machine. In my orders, I only can download a windows installer.

I found vpn network setup in network preference but i dont know how to setup. also others are suggesting macports for mac but still difficult to analyze and setup. You're going to need to figure out the required settings for the VPN server you're working with, whether you use the standard client or some add-on. That information is a prerequisite for a VPN client; for any VPN client.
If the standard VPN client present in OS X doesn't and cannot be gotten to work, then something like IPSecuritas or the OpenVPN client would be a typical fallback choice, but IPSecuritas is far more flexible — which means far more complex. These clients are available as application downloads; no Brew or MacPorts required.
Is this your server you're connecting into? Or is somebody else controlling it?
If it's your server and thus your VPN server, then you'll have the option to get either the VPN server in the gateway firewall box or the VPN server running in the target system configured to allow the OS X VPN client to work.
If the server is controlled by somebody else, ask them for the settings necessary for the VPN client.
As Barney-15E states, using Brew or MacPorts won't help, unless you're installing the VPN client that way — which would be a little unusual — and you're still going to have to figure out the L2TP / IPSec or PPTP or other settings here, irrespective of how the VPN client gets installed.

Unable to install CS6 master collection for mac book pro(late 2011)

Recently, I have successfully downloaded Adobe creative suite CS6 master collection for MAC.
However, I am unable to install it. After opening the installer nothing happens, it does not proceed further. I have tried copying the contents from MasterCollection_CS6_LS16.dmg to another folder and then open the install.app, still no progress.
Please advice since I really need to install this.

The situation is like this, I downloaded the image on my desktop pc(which is windows) and then compress & split the image using a winrar. I then transferred the files to my mac book pro and extracted the image there. Unfortunately, there was a bug in the unarchiver software that I was using on mac to extract the image.
This bug was rectified today in a update given out by the dev.
Now, I can install CS6 without any issues. Thanks for the repsonse once again.
