I have got the downloaded file for the iOS8 update on my desktop,received from the iStore. How do I put it on my iPhone 5 using a MacBook Pro?

Well, you can use iTunes to update to iOS 8
Step 1. Connect your iPhone to Mac Pro with a USB cable.
Step 2. Run the latest iTunes.
Step 3. After iTunes detects your iPhone, click your iPhone's name under DEVICES.
Step 4. In the right panel, click Summary tab.
Step 5. Hold down Shift key on the keyboard and click Update.
Step 6. In the pop-up window, browse your Mac Pro and find the firmware and click Open.
Step 7. iTunes will update your iPhone 5 to iOS 8.

I tried downloading iOS 8 for my iPhone 5 this afternoon.
After it downloaded, my phone continues to restart itself without ever installing iOS8.
I can't even get it to stay on so that I can reset the settings.
Any ideas on what is happening?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPhone has a startup issue since attempting to update to iOS 8. Try putting the iPhone in to recovery mode and restoring it again, as shown in the article linked below.

After installing Ios8 my iphone wont get past the "icloud part" of the setup phase.

So i installed IOS8 off my macbook pro onto my iphone 5 (not iphone 5s) and waited a couple minutes for it to finish, everything went smooth untill it finished. and i opened and unlocked my iphone. I first connected to Wifi which worked no problem. Then it said "To finish setting up ICloud enter the Apple ID password for (my apple ID)" so i enter the password Correctly and it will switch pages for about 2-3 seconds and say "updating your ICloud settings" but then it will just turn off the screen and go back to the Welcome screen where i have to unlock the phone and do the whole process over again. I've tried skipping that step. Ive tried doing it connected to Wifi and not connected, I've left it over night and tried again in the mornning, no luck. Please help!

You won't be able to check your email without adding it, but if you're stuck at the welcome to mail screen, you should got to Settings>Mail Contacts Calendars and select your icloud account. Make sure that it's not asking you for a password or stuck on verifying.
What I would do is select delete account from there and sign back into icloud

I have figured out that if I do a hard restart of the phone the apps will work for a time, but then they begin to all freeze up again after a short time.
This may be a problem of not enough free storage. Have you checked the storage used by your apps?

IMessage not working on iMac after iOS8 install on iPhone

I installed iOS8 on my iPhone and my iPad but it seems to have caused iMessage to stop working on my iMac. It tells me that I cannot use my Apple ID for iMessage at this time !? Strange!
I updated the OS on the iMac to the most recent update but the iMessage still does not work. It is giving me an error message to contact Apple support with a code number shown. I did that but since its sunday today nobody was available who would know how to fix it, which is VERY annoying.
If anybody knows what to do could you please let me know.

There is no official public documentation of that alert as far as I know, but apparently it can sometimes mean that the same Apple ID is being used with the iTunes Store or one of the other Apple content stores, and the payment method is invalid. Sign in to the store and review your account. You do not, of course, have to provide any billing information to set up an account to use only with iMessage, as it's a no-charge service.
Another possibility is that the primary or alternate email address is invalid. Search the Web for the phrase "My Apple ID." The top hit should be an Apple web page with that title. I'm not giving a direct link because such links are never to be trusted. Sign in and verify the ID.
Otherwise, do as the alert directs. According to reports, you won't be charged for the support call if you select "Apple ID"—not the hardware model—as the product you're asking about, and cite the "customer code" in the alert as the "validation code" when you speak to the Apple representative. I can't confirm.

My iPhone5 is stuck after having installed ios8

Hi! I've installed ios8, iTunes said me my iPhone was good to... it was installed in my iPhone at the end of the process the white screen with the apple has come and it has never left in the last hour. I tried to reinitialize it clicking on/off button and menu but nothing has happened, I also tried several times to take off the cable of iTunes... and restart the Mac... nothing has happened.
Sometimes the screen gets grey... and then the apple comes back.
What can I do??? I need my phone!

Back up your iPhone before installing iOS 8. The backup will in include your camera roll. It's fastest to back up to your computer using iTunes (connect the phone, open iTunes, go to File>Devices>Back Up...choose to back up apps and transfer purchases if prompted). Then you can restore your iTunes backup, which is faster since there's nothing to download.

After installing iOS8 on my Iphone5 battery life went really down and phone was getting really slow. All this happened within two days. Battery died with hours, until now it is showing only apple logo which is flashing while charging. Without charger plugged its totally dead, nothing on screen what so ever. Somehow I think iOS8 just killed my battery or it was some other kind of coincidence. No warranty also.
Does anyone know how to proceed with this iphone now? Cannot connect to Itunes. When it started to act wierd I managed to do back up and factory reset to my phone, but it didnt helped.
Does new battery can be solution? I could replace battery myself, but buying new battery without fix would be even bigger damage to my wallet.

Visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider or an Apple Store and let them check the battery. If you replace the battery yourself, Apple will not service the phone anymore after that, even if you are willing to pay for it.

Wi-Fi is slower since I installed iOS8

Hi, since I installed iOS8 my wifi network runs really slow on my iPad and iPhone. In my mac wifi maintains the real speed. Somebody knows what can I do??

You could try creating a new location in the settings. I used to have a similar issue to you but on 10.6 and i found that this helped me.
To change location->
Click on Wi-Fi menu tab, then click open network preferences,
The location should be set to automatic, click the box and edit
locations and use this to create a new location.
Try that out to see if it still disconnects.
If so, have you any custom settings enabled in relation to network access, VPN etc.

Can anyone get ios8/iphone 6+ to work w/Alpine x-305s car radio w/Pandora-iPod playlist cover art support

When I upgraded to the iphone 6 plus my Apple lightning adapter connected to the Alpine 30pin Apple adapter stopped working. When I called Alpine technical customer support they informed me that I needed to purchase a 30 pin 5v to 12v adapter so I did. Upon installing it that allowed my lighting adapter to resume "charging" capabilities for my iPhone 6plus but my Pandora and iPod integration capabilities still were not working, as they did with IOS7 and before.
I also recently purchased two different Bluetooth A2DP 30 pin adapters (tune2air WMA1000 and MPOW Bluetooth Music Receiver) in the hopes that at the very least i could convert my legacy Alpine 30pin connector into a Bluetooth connection while preserving the iPhone/iPod integration capabilities but no luck. Both of them show "USB error" on the Alpine x305s screen and do not launch pandora or ipod support either.
While I do have native Bluetooth Support on my Alpine via the KCE-400BT module it works so unreliably and inconsistently that for all intense purposes it's the same as not having it. ie. the screen almost always shows "no unit" in bluetooth mode.
I'm hoping that someone is able to keep making use of their Alpine x305s with their IOS8 / iphone 6/6plus and share tips on what they did to make it finally work. Additional insight into whether Alpine / Apple will be improving some of the reverse compatibility of this radio hardware would be greatly appreciated too!

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!
