Installing IPHOTO 06

I'm not real crazy about IPHOTO 08. Some of the printing choices are left out in iphoto 08. Is there a way of putting IPHOTO 06 into my computer with the Leopard OS. Can I just take out 08 and put in 06? Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can reinstall and run iPhoto 6 but you won't be able to access your current library. You'll need to create a new iPhoto 6 library and import just the Originals folder from the iPhoto 7 library. This will give you rolls that are the same as your current events but no keywords, titles, comments, albums, slideshows, etc.
You can retain your keywords, comments and titles in two ways:
1 - export each event to a folder on the desktop using the options to include the keywords and titles. Then import that folder into the iPhoto 6 library.
2 - run Steps 1-9 of Tutorial #1 on your iPhoto 7 library. Then import the Originals folder of that library into the iPhoto 6 library.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Assuming you've done a system wide search for it including the Applications folder and it's not there......
I think you will need to address this with them - did you pay them for the application? Or was your purchase price to include it? And the question(s) to ask them:
If the app store states that it has been downloaded, ask them where it is and which Apple ID they used. (the store keeps track of Apple IDs and machine IDs on everything you download).
I have absolutely no faith in their advice; however, in this case, it's not so much technical advice, but an answer to your questions: you paid for something and it appears not to be there.

When I want to edit a photo in photoshop, iphoto duplicates the image and I end up with two or three copies of the same photo and they are also duplicated on my computer. This has only occurred since I installed iPhoto 11.

saUnless you have a copy of your iPhoto 09 library you will have to start over from scratch with a new library and import the Masters file from inside iPhoto 11's library as described here:

1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
2. Open the library package like this.

This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

Download it from the App Store as Matt suggested. You may have to move the current version to the Trash Bin (don't delete yet), go to the App Store and look for iPhoto 9.6 under purchases. It will be free.
What iPhoto version did you have prior to the Yosemite upgrade? If it was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll also have to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before opening it with iPhoto 9.6.

Error in installing iphoto 6

Hi. I just converted to a new powermac G5 and started using iphoto.
I tried upgrading iphoto 5 to iphoto 6 but during the install when I'm asked to
"Select a destination volume to install the iphoto Update 6.0.2 software." I get a red stop sign when I click on the icon "Macintosh HD 233GB (219GB free)". It states "you can not install iphoto Update 6.0.2 on this volume. an eligible iphoto application was not found in the loction /Applications/iphoto.app".
I've read on here that I need ilife 6 but I thought this new computer (purchased oct/05) had it already on. Do I need to purchase it or is there something else I need to do on the install.

My dad bought a new retina macbook pro over a year ago.
The pre-installed iPhoto and iMovie applicaitons get this error when trying to download an update:

We are logged into the only account that he has ever had.
He has mountain lion.
It's very annoying and there's no way we know of to get around it. Searching and searching online led nowhere.

You cannot.
As requested... You need to use the SAME Apple ID that Originally made the Purchase of whatever Application you are trying to Update.

IPhoto is not included in any OS upgrade. It is a seperate application. Unless you choose to erase your drive when you upgrade no application including iPhoto is affected by the upgrade (except potential compatibility issues). If you need to reinstall iPhoto for and reason you do it from the original source. Either
1- the restore disks that came with your computer

2- the iLife DVD upgrade that you purchased
Or
3- the App store

Camera roll app gone after installing iPhoto

My Camera Roll app is no longer to be found on my Gen 3 iPad after installing iPhoto. I've reset my iPad, though i haven't erased all content and settings, and I cannot get it back. Am I relegated to the "scorched earth" solution of backing up and erasing all my data?

Cant connect wirelessly to internet after installing iphoto 9.2.1

I recently upgraede my system to 10.6.8. Today I downloaded and installed iPhoto 9.2.1 (going from 6.0.6). Now I cant connect to the internet wirelessly. Ethernet works. Could these actions have something to do with causing this problem?

Is this failure only from iPhoto or from all software on teh Mac?

Error Message when installing IPHOTO 4.0

I had to purchase IPHOTO 4.0 because Apple no longer supports IPHOTO 2.0 for Mac photo books. When I tried to install IPHOTO 4.0 this message appears "This installation cannot proceed because one of the following applications is running - ITUNES, IPHOTO, IMOVIE" All these applications are not running, I have turned off my computer and on again and continue to get the same message. What am I to do? I have a PHOTO book ready to go and can't get past this message. Thanks. Marge R

I bought a new macbook pro 10.7.5 on ebay. When i got it i noticed it didnt have iphoto, so i went to the app store and tried to install it, but when i do it says, "iPhoto can’t be installed on “Macbook HD” because Mac OS X version 10.9 or later is required." If this is the case, is there still a way i can get iphoto?

If it originally shipped with 10.6.8 or earlier, install iPhoto from the computer's original disks. If you don't have those, ask the seller for them or phone AppleCare and order replacements.
If it originally shipped with 10.7 or newer, upgrade the computer to Mac OS X 10.9. If you don't want to upgrade it, go to the Mac App Store main page, choose Support under Quick Links, contact Apple, and see what they say.
