Installing iSQL*Plus on unix

I am unable to find any documents on how to install/enable iSQL*Plus on 9i (9.2.0.5) on Hpux.
ps shows it is running, but I can't "find it" with a web browser, I tried everything I could find on metalink, and a few off of google.

Ok, maybe I need to be more clear...
We have multiple 9.2.0 databases on Solaris & Linux. We are also running Enterprise Manager 10.1.0 on Solaris. We have no 10.x databases installed at this time.
From what I've been able to gather, OEM does not install iSQLplus, it needs to be manually configured.
How is the manual configuration accomplished?
I have a 9.2.0 database on the same box as the OEM Server. I found $ORACLE_BASE/product/9.2.0/sqlplus/admin/isqlplus.conf. I added this line 'include "<real_absolute_path>/admin/isqlplus.conf"' to the OEM:'oracle_apache.conf' file and restarted the HTTP_Server.
No go.
I found a document discussing entries in the emoms.properties file, but I don't understand what those entries should look like. It looks to me like I need to have an HTTP Server already running iSQLplus inorder for the OEM HTTP_Server to be able to utilize iSQLplus.
I hope someone can make sense of this and document what needs to happen to make iSQLplus work with OEM.

ISQL*Plus: Internal error (no valid library could be found)

I install iSQL*PLUS on middle tier (9i AS 1.0.2.1) according to documentation, when I trying to connect I am getting Internal error (no valid library could be found). The TNSNAMES.ORA file is correct.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

My first suggestion is to use the HTTP listener on the RDBMS bundle. This is what iSQL*Plus 8.1.7 Beta was built for.
The HTTP servers on the iAS and Database releases require mods to be compiled differently.

I have installed iSQL*Plus and it works fine with normal queries.
I have tried it with different versions of oracle
7.1.6.2.0
8.0.4.0.0
8.1.5.0.0
8.1.6.0.0
8.1.7.0.0
There are some problems also which i noticed when we were working with it.
It is unpredictable sometimes, i.e., the same query which works once may give problems some other times. restarting the browser solves the problems some times
But the major problem was that if the user closed the browser window without logging off the session will not end on the server and after such many improper shutdowns the number of sessions on the server piles up.
But if the user logs off properly then the session is closed.
It is a nice tool and may become a necessary tool in future.

EBS : 11.5.9
DB : 9.2.0.3
1. I download
"Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for Linux" (9.2.0.4) at the oracle homepage(otn.oracle.com)
2. when I execute "runInstaller" to add on package(isql*plus) but represent following message
"Not all of the base components of oneoff patch 2858279 are selected for upgrade"
so i can't progress add package
3. so i patched "3095277"
but i can't progree add package
please help me

i did as above, but there is nothing returned.
and there is no error or warning in the relink.log.Does the log say that all files were linked/generated succeessfully?
by the way, i found my X server was not set correctly.i have installed the X display during installations. is there anything relationed about this error?X-Server is required for concurrent processing, and I believe it has nothing to do with forms.
and my gcc/g++ was not replaced by gcc296/g++296,is this action necessary?Please verify all your OS packages as per this link.

I want to run iSQL*Plus in the localhost.And my oracle DB server is in UNIX.

Have a look at the contents of portlist.ini which should be located in your {Oracle Home}/install folder.
This lists the ports that have been set up for listening on for each part of Oracle.

ISQL plus 10g

Hi, I am trying to setup iSQL plus on Windows.
I know I need to setup a WebDBA through Jazn. The only documentation I can find for this however is for Unix/Linux.
The command line $JAVA_HOME/bin/java -Djava.security.properties=$ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin/iplus/provider -jar $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/home/jazn.jar -user "iSQL*Plus DBA/admin" -password admin_password -shell
will obviously not work. Windows does not use links like Unix/linux and when I look for Documentation on how to get into the Jazn shell in windows I find nothing.
Any help is appreciated.

I have found that Oracle doesn't Always have the environment variable set. So you may have to goto your actual directory. Mine was G:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\oc4j\j2ee\isqlplus\application-deployments\isqlplus
Oracle uses something else in the registrey under HKLM > Software > Oracle > Home0 (forgot the variable)
But anyways, once you goto that directory run this command (obviously substituting your variables to point to your system)
java -Djava.security.properties=G:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\sqlplus\admin\iplus\provider -jar G:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\oc4j\j2ee\home\jazn.jar -user "iSQL*Plus DBA/admin" -password !welcome -shell
Or you could try this one if you have Oracle_Home set as a variable. You can set variables by right clicking my computer and going to properties then Advanced and Environment Variables at the bottom. Just Make it Oracle_Home and the path to your home. For example mine would of been G:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1
You can run the following command with that home set. Re open your command prompt so it's been set.
java -Djava.security.properties=%ORACLE_HOME%\sqlplus\admin\iplus\provider -jar %ORACLE_HOME%\oc4j\j2ee\home\jazn.jar -user "iSQL*Plus DBA/admin" -password !welcome -shell
Also make sure the server was installed with a static IP or that will mess you up as well.
Once you get into the JAZN you can goto this link for the documantation on what to type. Remember this will not work unless it is run from within that directory.

You basically type in
adduser "iSQL*Plus DBA" username password
Then
grantrole webDba "iSQL*Plus DBA" username
Then type exit and you are done.
Then goto http://machine_name.domain:5560/isqlplus/dba
Or you can access iSQL Plus from the Enterprise Manager. THe user name and password you enter on the screen that pops up for authentication is the same one you used for JAZN. To login as sysdba requires authenticationg through JAZN.

Where is iSQL*Plus distribution zip file for Oracle 8i (8.1.7)?

I am running Oracle 8i (8.1.7) under Windows 2000. The iSQL*Plus Installation and Users Guide Release 8.1.7 Beta for Windows says the iSQL*Plus distribution zip file can be downloaded from the Oracle TechNet site (http://otn.oracle.com). I went there but could only fine iSQL*Plus for Oracle 9i. I even clicked on a link for the 8.1.7 version but ended up on a page with the 9i version. Can the 8.1.7 version still be downloaded? If so, what http address will get me to it?
I want to run iSQL*Plus on my PC to see if I can access my oracle database from an iMAC (apple computer).

iSQL*Plus 8.1.7 beta was available only for a short time. That version was in beta testing and not intended for long term use. iSQL*Plus 9.0.1 (with Oracle9i release 9.0.1 for Windows) is more stable, and has more features. iSQL*Plus 9.2.0.1 (just released with Oracle9i release 9.2.0.1 on most platforms!) is even better. You might want to install a version of Oracle9i and use the new, production releases of iSQL*Plus.

Problems starting iSQL PLUS service on Windows XP

Dear Forum,
I installed oracle 10g for the first time on Win XP. The Installtion-Process was fine. Now I'm not able to iSQL Plus, beacause the iSQL service in the administration area does not start properly. The status always says that it is starting unfortunately with no success.

ISQL*Plus - How to use it?

I don't have any kind of database installed in my PC nor do I intend to do so. I want to use SQLPlus on a remote database. People here mentioned I could do that with iSQLPlus.
I went to the following site http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe9ir2/obe-mng/isqlplus/isqlplus.htm.
It mentions that a database installation is needed to run iSQLPlus. Then one of the guys in this forum mentioned that a database installation is not needed.
If anyone has successfully used iSQLPlus please help me set it up.

Running ISQL Plus over a home network

I have a small wireless home network (3 machines), and installed Oracle 10g on one machine. ISQL works fine on this machine. However, I would like to be able to run queries from the other machines using ISQL PLUS.
Have tried, //<<machinename>>:5560/isqlplus, but this returns a message that the requested page cannot be found.
Ive pinged the database host machine from a second machine: ping <<machine name>>, and got a reply but when I pinged the port on the host machine: Ping <<machine name>>:5560, I got no reply. How do I solve communication with this port.
Any assistance appreciated.

Ping <>:5560, I got no reply.Pinging port is not possible. Btw you can't use somthing what is using ICMP protocol (ping) for testing of TCP connection. So use the telnet command for testing of connection.

What error message is returned when You try to start it?
Additionaly You can read Metalink note 400812.1 - How to Create iSQL*Plus Service after Software Only Install on Windows Machine
And Metalink note 334695.1 is usefull as well.

SQL*Plus/iSQL*Plus login as DBA

I just installed 10g Enterprise on a Windows platform and am a bit confused to why I cannot log into SQL*Plus/iSQL as a DBA. I can login as one of the user accounts then use 'connect' to login as dba in SQL*Plus or at the Windows command prompt. I cannot do this, however, in iSQL*Plus. One of the threads on this forum pointed me to using JAZN after installing OC4J. I am in the process of doing this, but I need to understand something apparently fundamental: why should I have to perform another install when the Universal Installer installed iSQL and all the features that came with it? Didn't the 10g download give me the tools necessary to administer its application's accounts? The OC4J download page states that this tool should not be used to replace an existing 10g installation.
Moreover, why iSQL knows about the 'users' authorization level, but not 'system?' I can see the users and groups in the Enterprise Manager, but no features to set WebDBA users as iSQL*Plus requests.
Your comments would be much appreciated.

By the way: Get used to a different tool like SQL*Plus linemode or SQL Developer, because iSQL*Plus disappears in future versions.

Why I am not able to login by ISQL*PLUS?

I installed RHEL.4 with my pentium 3 machine with 512mb of RAM. I installed with 4 partition /,/boot, /oracle and swap partition.Linux is running pretty fine. i installed Oracle 9i release 2 successfully without any error except agent get fail. Now i skiped the DBCA database creation and created manually using OMF.Now I am not able to connect my database by using ISQL*PLUS. can i get help? as well as how to login in iSQL*PLUS as sysdba? should i configure apache induvidually if yes how to do that?

Make sure your Apache http server is up and running, this is the entry point to your isqlplus in 9iR2

Once started, get access to the regular url to your apache home page:
http://hostname:ApachePort/isqlplus
investigate which one is the port used by your http server, Oracle by default sets it to 7777. This can be found at the httpd.conf configuration file.
On the other hand, in order for you to access as isqlplusdba, this should be enabled at the isqlplus.conf file found at the $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/conf directory, you will find both, sqlplus and isqlplus locations declared on the same file, the second one is commented. It is configured so you provide a password by means of the regular apache authentication mechanism, it's up to you if you wan to use it or just rely on the sysdba password to gain access to your database.

Oracle 10g - iSQL*Plus URL issue

Hello:
I'm trying to run a sql script file via my browser and I'm receiving the following error message:
SP2-0920: HTTP error 'URL access is disabled in iSQL*Plus ' on attempt to open URL
In my HTML file, my SQL script is located on c:\demo\script.sql. In the A HREF portion of my HTML, I am not sure whether I am referencing my script.sql correctly. I'm wondering if this could be the cause of the error message.
This is the HTML file I am running on my browser:

Sorry it took so long but I finally had a chance to get back to this. This is what I did. My test.html file is located in the d:\sql directory but it could be located anywhere. It looks like this:

 Open and browse to the location on your hard drive where the test.html file is located and click on Open and then OK.

iSQLPlus Report
Run Employee Report
This comes from the formatting I used in my html file above.
3. Click on Run Employee Report
4. This will take you to the iSQL*Plus login page where you will be asked to enter a Username, Password and Connection Identifier. The username should be a user who has access to the HR schema and the connection identifier can simply be the name of your Oracle SID. If you have Oracle installed on your local machine, you can leave this field blank.
5. If everything is working, the script.sql will run and the next page will have the results of running the script which will be everything in the emp_details_view.
