Installing iTunes 10 on new Win7 64 bit laptop

I have downloaded iTunes for 64bit Win7 and when i try to install I get an immediate response that this is not a "win32 application". Ok i'm game so i download the 32 bit version thinking that i've made a blue and perhaps my OS isn't 64bit after all. Of course it doesn't work either suggesting i get the 64 bit version.
Anyone else had this similar issue and resolved it satisfactorily.
Have Zone Alarm firewall operating if that makes any difference.

Yes a lot of people in Australia are seeing this, esp with those USB dongles for internet access.
Something is wrong with its setting? the PC? and the file gets corrupted on the download.
Older thread about it:

You can try kat476's method at the end of that topic:
clearing my browsing history, temp files and existing apple file.
Zone Alarm, as far as I know, doesn't block the download, but it can definitely block a proper installation. Download the itunesSetup64.exe, and temporaily turn off ZA while installing.

Problems installing plug-ins to Photoshop CS5 Extended on a new Win7 64-bit laptop.  (Same CS5 and plug-ins installed OK several years ago on a Vista laptop.  Now I'm just trying to migrate everything over to the new laptop.) Even some Adobe updates won't install.  Instead, a message box pops up on the CS5 screen saying "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."   Any solution?

CS5's automatic update mechanism is broken, perhaps because it is no longer updated and can't cope with the newer ways of updating.
So this means you will have make a list of the updates that failed, go here: Product updates
    and manually download/install from there.

Can't install itunes on a new Win7 machine. Get a message "There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run"

Have you completed all windows update including service Pack1?  If not, please complete all the windows update then follow steps below to re-install all over.
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • I have installed iTunes on my new windows 7 dell laptop every time I start it it comes up with an error saying itunes has encountered a problem and it closes ? any answers have tried command prompt reset and it has not resolved it also un/reinstalled

I have installed iTunes on my new laptop OS Windows 7. I have two iphones, a 3rd gen nano and an ipod classic.
Since the install yesterday I keep getting an error message which itunes has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a soluion is available.
I have un and re installed and followed a command promt reset.
I still have the problem. Any ideas?

Ok. So I created a new account and iTunes did work. I went back into my original account and tried again and just to be more clear, after I open iTunes it asks me to accept or decline the agreement, I do that, then it says "updating library", and then one all the bars are full it closes and says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close."
okay, let's start working through the user-account-specific causes of this message.
one possibility is damaged itunes preference files in the user account in which you're getting the crash. (there's a different set of those in each different user account, which is how we can get crashes limited to a single user account.)
if that is what is going on, we can often get past this by rebuilding the preference files in the account that is crashing. for the preference files rebuild technique, see my reply to kusma in this post:

  • How do I install iTunes on my new Windows 8 Acer laptop? Nothing seems to be working

How do I get iTunes to install on my new Windows 8 Acer laptop? Nothing seems to be working.

Yes, you can use the staller CD that came with your iPod. It should have all the iPod Updater and iTunes software needed for your iPod and your new computer.
Also, if you don't have the CD available or you want a different way, you can install iTunes 6.0.5 from Apple's website. See this link for installation:
    Download iTunes 6
Also, you'll need the iPod Updater software (as I previously mentioned). You can download this from Apple's website on here as well:
    iPod Updater
    iPod Software
I hope this info solves the issue,

  • I can not install iTunes on my windows 8 64 bit laptop

I have been trying to install iTunes 11.01 on my windows 8 64-bit laptop and I keep getting the same error "Microsoft .VC80.CRT type="win32". version="8.0.50727,6195", public Key Token="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b, processor Architecture'+x86'". I have tried using different links and the troubleshoot compatibility and nothing still. I have tried downloading other versions of iTunes but still nothing. I do not know what else to do, please HELP!!!!

Not Windows RT then .  When you say "I've tried both" do you mean the 32- and 64-bit installers for Windows?  In the first instance you should go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ - this should detect the version of Windows you are running and offer the correct installer.  It'll look like this:
Click on Download Now - this will download the correct installer for you to run and install iTunes.
There is, however, some anecdotal evidence that the scripts on the Apple site that are supposed to detect the version of Windows you are running may fail for some users - jumping straight to the "Thank you for downloading ..." page with the installer not having been downloaded.  As an alternative, you can go directly to the relevant downloads:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe
of which you'll need the second one.  See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation; you may also need to consult HP's helpdesk as the error message you report may be symptomatic of a Windows issue, not an iTunes one.

  • Trouble to install iTunes on my Windows Vista 32-bit laptop. Please help!

I am trying to install iTunes on my Windows laptop (vista- 32 bit), but at the end of the installing process it keeps saying that I am missing a program to complete installing (no error code). After this message it will de-install iTunes. How can I fix this? Thnx!

  • Installed itunes 10.5 on win7, 64 bit - Where is Movies folder!

Under the Library, I have the following folders:
Music, Films, tv programmes, books, apps, radio.
All the screen shots and discussions on here suggest I should have Movies...?
Dragging mp4s etc (all of which were synced fine to ipad and ipad2 on previous itunes version) into Films has no effect.  When Films is selected it just has the page offering a tutorial.
    Help!

Changing the localization option simply changes the labels and folders iTunes will use for new content. Existing connect properly connected to the library should remain connected. If you've got files that are missing in action, ie. display with an exclamation mark, then they need to be relinked to the library before they can be transferred to your devices.
The default location for a Movie or TV Show also varies according to whether or not the library is in the new "iTunes Media Organisation" layout. Movies used to be lumped into a single folder, but now each get their own. I have a script called FindTracks that can search a media folder in either new or old layout and attempts to reconnect missing items. It currently assumes the US naming for Movies and TV Shows, though I guess I could tweak it for the alternate names if it would be useful. How many files are you trying to reconnect?

  • I installed itunes on my new Win7 machine and downloaded all my songs. Problem is when I go to my music and click on a specific song, it skips to the next sone or further on my list and does nto play the one I selected. Any ideas?

Problem is when I select a song in my library, it skips down the list and never plays the one I first selected.

thought that it was possible to have the same iTunes library on any machine that was authorised, a kind of cloud-iTunes I guess.
That would convenient, but sadly it is not the case. Sorry!
Either way your welcome and best of luck!

  • How do I widen Bookmarks on new Win7 64-bit laptop? Can't find userChrome file to edit (FF 25.0.1)

I have an edited userChrome.css file that I've taken from one computer to another that has settings like the width of the Bookmarks column in it. In the past, I've just pasted it into the right folder in Profiles, overwriting the old one, but I don't see any "usercrhome.css" anywhere on my C drive. I'm guessing that things are different in FF25 (which I've just upgraded to on this new computer). So now how do I widen the Bookmarks column?

'''userChrome.css''' and the '''/chrome/''' folder doesn't exist until the user creates them. The /chrome/ folder and the example-userChrome.css file were removed from Firefox many versions in the past, and need to be created manually or by using an extension such as ChromeEdit Plus.

  • Sept 2011--should I obtain 64-bit version of Firefox for new Win7 64-bit laptop?

Before I download various addons or plugins, I should know which version of Firefox I intent to be running--32- or 64-bit. I assume the version I just downloaded (6.0.2) is 32-bit. Do I need to uninstall current version?

Firefox 64 bit is not currently supported. Firefox 32 bit will work just fine :). Note that Mozilla does have plans to support a 64 bit Firefox in the near future!

  • Error installing iTunes 10 on Windows 7 64 Bit

I upgraded to Windows 7 from XP since I changed laptop. I did tried to install iTunes on this new machine (win 7 64 bit Corei7 processor and 4G RAM) but during the installation when the status screen states "Publising Product Information", I'm getting the following error message:
"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x800736FD."
Following this message, the installer reverses the installation process and after a 10-15 minute wait, a screen comes up that says the Itunes installation was complete. Obviously it wasn't but that is what the message says. When you close out of that message, Itunes tries to start and this message pops up:
"Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall itunes, then install iTunes again.
    Error 2"
Any help will be very much appreciated

It's rarer to see these on Windows 7 than it is on Vista. Somtimes they're a bit easier to deal with on 7, too.
First, head to Windows Update and see if you can update the PC. If you can, and you collect updates without any errors, try another iTunes install.
If you get errors installing Windows Updates, double click on the failed updates in your Update history to bring up a small window containing alphanumeric codes for the erros. Are they also 800736FDs, or are you getting other error codes?

  • Cannot install itunes on windows v8.1 64 bit

Cannot install iTunes on Windows v8.1 64 bit.

The old blue iTunes worked fine on my pc, then along came the new red iTunes, which initially refused to install from an auto-update notification, saying it didn't have permission to access one of its own folders (self access to all its other folders was ok).
I then tried a manual download and install as suggested by the auto-update failure dialogue and that was exactly the same - failed at the last hurdle and had to reset itself.
I then tried download and install from iTunes site and this installed without problem, but the application will not open, neither from the desktop icon with user or admin rights, nor from a direct open or run as admin from the iTunes folder .exe file.
I have tried a repair install and an aggressive uninstall to ensure any TSR components are purged followed by a clean install - no difference.
My other pc is no problem and iTunes installed and runs on there fine, so it must be a configuration problem on this pc only.
I disabled my antivirus and malware detection during the install and made an exception for iTunes, to no effect.
When selecting the app I get a blue circle for a few seconds then nothing, no dialogue or notification of problems.
    Any suggestions welcomed.

  • I am unable to install iTunes on my new HP laptop.

I have tried several times to install iTunes on my new HP Pavillion dv7.  Each time I get a Windows installer error message,   Is anyone else having the problem. My next step is to take the Laptop back to BestBuy and have the Geeks check it out.

Are you using the Itunes installer for windows 7 64 bit?
"go to apple.com>itunes>download for pc +mac>"download now" page with the hardware and software requirements for iTunes. This the same page where you seelct itunes for 32 bit or 64 bit windows 7.
Under the software requirements you can find the required downloadable installer.
