Installing Itunes 6 for Windows

Hi, I just upgraded to Itunes 6, and now, even though it shows on my desktop Itunes-it won't open...The Icon is there, but now nothing happens when I open it. Then, after uninstalling and reinstalling about 8 times, I now get an "Error Report" when I click on the icon. The error report says that Quick Time is not functioning, even though it works fine when I access it seperately. "Somebody please help me"...I refuse to pay $50.00 for Apple to give me a vague answer that will ultimately point me to the "tutorial page".
Thanks in andvance-

I did what you said. iTunes does not show up in the Task Mgr. QuickTime does with a message box asking if I want to default some files to QuickTime. The msg box closes before I can click anything. Next??
that's the best straight line i've been given in days ... i've just spent 5 minutes writing responses and then deleting them ...
... back to business. we're going to check to see if you've got the adware/trojan that's been causing people grief.
use the following technique to try to identify start-up items that are blocking itunes launch:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
you're especially on the lookout for weird 4- and 6-letter names that don't turn up any hits if you do a google on the names. if you find any such, there's a good chance you've got adware.
the particular beast that is causing the most grief to people is a version of Qoologic. it's slipping under the radar of most commercial scanning packages at the moment. we do have a manual technique for removing it though. see:

  • Cannot (re-)install itunes (64) for windows 8. get error 7 (Windows error 193)

I've used itunes for itunes for quite some time before making some hardware change (cpu and motherboard).  The OS, like before, is Windows 8. But now each time that I try it seems to install up to and including the final "finish" in the process.  After that it gives me the above msg suggestint that I rinstall.  After a START of the computer there are complains about "apple" routines that cause problems.
I hope that there is an itunes user who n help.

  • Solution to "iPodService Error" issue while installing iTunes 10 for Window

This instruction applies to Windows XP:
    Un-install iTunes 10...follow Apple's instructions to un-install iTunes 10.
Right Click on <My Computer> icon on your desktop
    Select <Properties> from context menu
    Select <Advanced> tab
Click <Settings> under Startup and Recovery
Click <Edit> under "To edit the startup options file...."
The boot.ini file should now be opened in Notepad. Check and update the following flag to match:
    /noexecute=optin
    Re-install iTunes 10
The process should be normal without the "ipodservice error messages".
It worked for me...Good Luck !
Someone had already posted this solution in one of the threads, so credit is due there, not here

  • Problems installing QuickTime 7 with iTunes 6 for Windows XP

I am encountering problems with the latest version of QuickTime (version 7.0.3) together with iTunes 6.
Installation is fine except at the end when I receive an error message saying ’1628: Failed to complete installation’. It appears that both programmes have been installed and work but I am unable to uninstall them. Neither program appears in the Add/Remove programs list when they should be. If I select ‘Uninstall QuickTime’ from the Program list the uninstalation process starts but stops half way through.
I have tried downloading QuickTime standalone version but this is exactly the same. I removed the QuickTime folder, and all its contents, from C:\Program Files\QuickTime and installed the previous version (6.5.2) which installs and uninstalls fine.
I am at a loss as to why the latest version is causing problems.
Would appreciate any help or advice as to why this is happening?
    Thanks

Will a 2nd Gen Shuffle sync with iTunes 6 for
    Windows?
NO... 2nd Gen shuffle requires iTunes 7.0.2 or later

  • Silent install switches for iTunes 10 for Windows

I want to do large scale silent installations of iTunes 10 for Windows.
I also don't want iTunes it to automatically run, once the install has finished.
    I'm using the /quiet /passive switches.
The program seems to install without a problem, but when it tries to automatically run it gives an error message.
Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again.
    Error 2 (Windows error 2)
I'm not sure how to automatically install Apple Application Support, which would presumably solve the error message problem.

Hi Gold. AppDeploy is probably the place to check, although digging through for the relevant information is going to be a trial. here's a link to their 9.x page, but the other version information from version 7.x may be relevant too.
    EDIT: sorry, forgot the link:

    what can be wrong?

I recommend you do as LexSchellings and I are telling you to do. If you have uninstalled iTunes and the reinstalled it from Apple's website and it still does not work, you will have to contact the Apple Technical Support section for them to guide you through steps to try and get it working.

  • How do I install iTunes with a Windows 7 account that uses parental controls?

I have setup a small computer for my daughter to use, running Windows 7 Home Premium. I've enabled Parental Controls through the control panel. So far, I've been unable to install iTunes for her. If I try running the installer as admin, when I try to run iTunes as her, I eventually get a message telling me that itunes64.msi was rejected by the digital signature policy. If I run the installer as her, I get a message saying the system administrator doesn't allow the app to run; I have added the installer to the list of allowed applications. Anyone know how to install iTunes in this case?

  • I cannot install itunes on my windows vista

I try to install itunes on my windows vista, it gives me a error

    "iTunesSetup.exe não é um aplicativo Win32 válido"
That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • Install ITunes on A Windows 7 64 bit and get error message

I am trying to install ITunes on A Windows 7 64bit and get the following error microsoft.vc80.crt,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publickeytoken="1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86"HRESULT:0x8007054F

Are you using the 32 or 64 bit version? There are two versions of iTunes. One is for 64 bit processor architecture, one is for 32 bit processor architecture.
Please download the 64 bit version and test it! In my view you try to install the 32 bit version.
    Kind regards!
    Philipp
EDIT: I am sure you currently try to install the 32 bit version! It doesn't work on a 64 bit system. Are you sure that you use Windows with 64 bit?
