Installing Itunes 7.0 after dowloading

Please bear with me as I am not that computer literate. I am currently trying to upgrade my current Itunes 6 to the newly offere Itunes 7.0. I go onto the Itunes 7.0 upgrade site and I download the upgrade. It takes me to a page that says thank you for downloading, but I never get a prompt for installing the new upgrade. What am I doing incorrectly? Anyone's help is grealy appreciated.

First step is to turn off your firewall and Anti-Virus software. Then click on the following link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and enter your email address that you used when you set up iTunes. Click on download and you should be good to go.
Of course, you may be one of the fortunate Windows XP users like me who had iTunes 6.05 working fine until downloading 7.0. As you can see there are a number of problems associated with the installation of Apple's latest version of iTunes which seem to be unique to Windows based machines.
Good Luck!

  • Anyone having problems re-installing itunes 9.3 after uninstalling 10.1 version

I have Windows XP Vista 32, and had problem with Applesyncnotifier not found error msg. The message suggested I uninstall the itunes version I had (10.1) and re-install, which I attempted to do. However, since I have Windows Vista Win32 bit, the 10.1 is not compatible and causes another error msg to pop up. So, I uninstalled 10 and re-installed itunes 9 on my PC. Now, I cannot open my itunes library and get the following error message. HELP!!
"The file itunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created in a newer version of itunes"
Please if anyone know how to get my Library to open, let me know.
    Thank you.

That's a load of bull excrement.
Instead of trying to use an old version of iTunes, install the current version from http://apple.com/itunes/download.

  • Unable to install itunes 10.5 after update issue. "windows installer package error"

So when the update for itunes happened, it wiped my ipod, and then my ipod would not work with itunes. So I uninstalled itunes and tried to reinstall it and it gives me that error message. "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I have tried all the fixes from deleting everything to running command prompts. I think i tried everything.
Method 1: Right click on the setup file and, from the drop down menu, select 'run as administrator'
Method 2: Open command prompt in elevated mode and, then unregistered and re-register Windows Installer.
    1. In the Start search box and then type 'cmd', when the command application appears at the top of the start window, right click on it and, from the drop down menu, select 'run as administrator' and type each of these commands in the command prompt and press Enter
       • msiexec /unregister
       • msiexec /regserver

    7.       If other program entries were listed for iTunes in Programs and Features remove those as well.
    8.       In Programs and Features, also remove any iPod Updater applications that are listed in the same fashion as you removed iTunes.
Method 6: You may also try downloading the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run that to remove the leftover ITunes installer files that may be causing issues with your current installation.

------  By the way I dont have the WOW64 option is not available.
I was able to install quick time just fine. All of the other apple software associated with itunes installed fine but itunes did not. Im not sure if there is a virus that could do this. I didnt delete anything but apple folders.
I have tried other things but i cant remember exactly there were.
When the install process for itunes is running it changes with the error message shows up during install.
    Thanks.

I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

  • Can't install itunes on XP after factory recovery

    hi everybody,
This is a bizarre issue that became a problem. on a t500 after a xp factory recovery,  update OS, install normal app, office, qbooks, etc.. I download iTunes 8 last version,  double click to install and the first weird sign was a message to run but said “unknown publisher “  after click run, nothing happens. It won’t do anything. It won’t log anything on system or app logs. User has admin local priv, I tried install on local comp, safe mode, different local user, domain admin. Nothing. Last thing I tried was download iTunes version 7 and it did install, but I need the 8 because prior library setup.
Does anybody have a clue??  Is driving me crazy.
    Thanks a lot.

  • I can't install itunes 10.6 after download I'm getting error code 2324? and itunes stopped working?

After downloading the update package and trying to install it, the installation didn't work with error code 2324, and i can't open itunes on my laptop anymore?

First of, what sort of system have you got. (Right-click My Computer in the start Menu and select properties) There are two flavours of Windows 7 x64 OEM (original equipment manufacture)  One is a total x64 system for the OS and all programs.  The other runs x64 address space for the OS and x32 address space for programs.  I had exactly the same problem with my system and microsoft office. Roll back (using the recovery console to rewrite all the original registry values before you upgraded will give you a clean system for the upgrade).  The upgrade itself should recognise the correct upgrade version for you automatically.  However, sometimes it fails to do this due to data corruption.  Go here-  http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and manually download what you need.  after download Right-click the file and select "properties"  and click on "unblock" box in lower right corner. close, Then right click the file again and select "Run as administrator".  If u still have problems, reboot into Safe mode.  Uninstall itunes. Reboot again to safe mode. Disconnect from internet and disable any 3rd party system watch and antivirus programs.  Reinstall itunes, then reboot normally.  If the problem still persists run a system diagnostic check using "Problem Reports and Solutions" from in Control Panel.  Let me know how you get on.

  • I am trying to install itunes after downloading Windows 8.1.  I get an Windows Error 2 message--  "Apple Application Support is required to run itunes helper."  Any suggestions?

I am trying to install itunes (64 bit) after downloading Windows 8.1 on my HP Laptop.  I keep getting an error message Windows Error 2--"Apple App;ication Support is required to run itunes helper"  Does anyone have any simple suggestions for a user with limited knowledge of Computers?

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • After installing itunes windows services get turned off

I have a fresh install of Vista Ultimate Sp2 that has been running wiithout any probolems. I have waited a couple of weeks before installing iTunes. Now after 2 days the computer will not boot to windows. I boot too safe mode and I get a message that System Event Notification Service is turned off. In safe mode the services can't be accessed. So I do a system restore to the time I installed iTunes and all services are turned on and windows boots properly. I waited one week the downloaded iTunes again and reinstalled it. After a couple of days the computer will not boot except into safe mode. So I do a system restore and windows botts up ok. I then wait another week and I go thtough the same routine. I haven't installed anyother software yet, I want to get past this windows services getting turned off issue. I am not using selective startup so all services should start when the computer is turned on. Does anyone know what the issue may be?

A complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related software components is worth a try (7s can indicate trouble with other software components like Apple Application Support). See the following documents for instructions:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
... But if no joy there, let's check to see if there's a .NET issue underlying this:

  • Itunes not opening after closing

I installed iTunes 6 and after the installing and agreements and all that stuff, it was open. I was glad cuz I had to go through some steps first to get it to even show up. Everyone is having problems with this and personally it's starting to **** me off. So after getting it open FINALLY, I closed it cuz the music store was not working, it just showed that little bar but never went to the store. So now that I've closed it, it won't open again. What's wrong with it now?

OK so at some point you got the "iTunes has experienced an error and needs to close. Do you want to send the error to Microsoft?" error. follow the instructions at the link below to repair iTunes and uninstall quicktime. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302372,
If this does not work, your library may have becomed corruppt or you may have to do the stand alone install of quicktime.
Just post back and tell us if this fixes your problem or not

  • I Can't Install iTunes 7.7

I just got a new Dell PC with Vista on it. I've tried several times to install iTunes 7.7 after downloading it. When I click on "run" or "open" I get a grey box that says "...this installation package could not be opened. verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer..."
    HELP! Please!

    Try this
    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Folder Options.
    3. On the View tab, under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
    4. Open the \Windows\Installer folder on your computer's hard disk.
    5. Right-click any file that has an .msi extension, and then click Properties.
Can you find the itunes MSI file from apple? If so, doesn't double-clicking on it start the install?
